I came from New Brunswick as we do not have visa Center. Security did not allow me to bring bag, I told them that I came from NB and I have no place for my bag to leave for 1-2 hrs. Finally a good person from India who was waiting for her wife took care of my bag.

When you go inside, they can literally handle your belongings and give you token and after your appointment you can get back your things, but for some reason security did not allowed me to take my bag inside. I would have opened and show all things.

I wonder how they can deny a us visa to a Canadian permanent resident. I was denied a tourist visa application.
Review your denial reasons, it does not make any sense.why would someone with a good status in canada and with a good job do in the U. S illegally?
And why green card holders can come to canada while Canadian PR cannot cross the border? This is ironic and I hope will be addressed by Canadian authorities

Everything was good. Got my visa approved in 2 minutes
Here are some things that be helpful for someone:
From now onwards, people can bring small purse and mobile phones. Upon entry security guard will ask you to switch off your phone,
If you have key they have locker inside
You can put your things free of charge and pick them up when you exit.
If your picture is not right. You can get your picture inside with 10$ they have booth inside.
Once you are in you can go to washroom

There are 3 booths, first your documents (ds160 form and picture and passport) will be check than fingerprint and at last will be your interview.
Consulate and everyone working over there were really kind and good

But fear not, my fellow dreamers, for the US Embassy knows how to keep things moving. They've mastered the art of efficiency like a well-oiled Zamboni gliding effortlessly across the ice. In just one hour, my dreams were set in motion, and I was on my way to living that American dream.

Now, here's the funny part. Can you believe I'm writing this review after visiting the country six times already? It's like getting married and then deciding to write a love letter to your spouse. But hey, better late than never, right? I'm just glad I finally took a moment to appreciate the hardworking officers who get up every day, put on their serious faces, and make dreams come true. They're like the fairy godmothers of visas, granting wishes with a stamp and a smile.

So, kudos to the US Embassy for being the gatekeepers of our dreams. You may have given me a temporary visa, but you've permanently etched memories and adventures into my heart. And let's not forget the never-ending line that taught me the value of patience, camaraderie, and the occasional impromptu game of "I Spy. "

In the end, whether it's your first time or your sixth time, the US Embassy is there to guide you towards your American dreams. Just remember to bring your sense of humor and a good playlist for the wait. Who knows, maybe you'll even spot a moose and a bald eagle engaging in a friendly game of hockey while you're at it.

Had an amazing experience at the U. S.embassy in Ottawa. The service team is super friendly and supportive. If I can suggest, just make sure bringing the documents as required and be honest during the interview. The officer will arrange everything for you. I also want to thank you everyone’s help! It’s always busy in the morning but the team overall is super organized. If I have to add, just to make sure you are not in rush and eat properly before your appointment time.

The appointment went smoothly and quickly. The only downside was the initial wait outside the building in the cold weather.

Very kind and understanding staff. Renewed my niece's B visa due to a family emergency. They quickly moved up her visa interview appointment after we requested expedited service online. All the staff we interacted with were very professional and personable. Only issue was the long wait to get into the building and then to go to the various windows required. We were there 2.5 hours (that's why only 4 stars). The officer who interviewed her was fantastic despite having a challenging non-stop job! Don't bring bags or anything extra and be prepared to wait a while. There are washrooms once you get inside.

My personal experience: we were stuck in a bad snowy weather, and had to wait in the line outside the embassy for about 1.5 hours. With snow falling on our face and winds gusting while we had to wait for our turn to go through security and appointment time. The security guard outside was kind ans staff inside was kind and everything went smooth but just hoped they took better care of people standing outside.

I went there for visa interview, was more than 50 persons and all aprouved.
I think if u have legal status in canada they will aprouve ur visa
The negative point is the visa appoitements not available and wainting outside in -21 sooo cold.

Had a great experience at ottawa consulate attend my in law’s interview. Bit confused because not mention any where in regards to translator as my parents don’t speak english and they need someone to communicate with the visa officer. Finally attended the interview and accompany my parents as a translator which turn out to be a great help for them. The officer just ask few questions about my status and why my parents want to visit US and approve the visa. Hope it will be helpful for any one who is looking for the answer.

I went to the US embassy in October 2022. The staff and interviewers are efficient, helpful and polite. However, the security/entrance process at the consular section can be improved.

There is no entry based on time slot. So you can have 8 AM people as well as 9 AM people in the same line. This causes a huge lineup as the consular section is small. It took almost 1 hour to get inside the consulate, but can be really tough in month of January or Feb when its harsh winters. I have visited other US consulates and they generally let people in based on time slots.

Great experience. The security staff, the embassy personnel inside, everyone is very nice. It was also efficient once inside and things worked like a clock. I wish the wait time to get documents was significantly shorter, because the actual process in the embassy was short and sweet.

Very nice people and smooth processing system. Come at least 2 hour early to attend your interview in time and don’t bring anything with you for avoiding security protocols. You just need to be calm, quite and humble with the visa inspector and answer the questions properly. Overall my experience is outstanding.

My passport was tole and i was so stressed. Officer called Lavino was beyond HELPFUL, , AMAZING, KIND, POLITE AND UNDERSTANDING. He helped me right the way asked am I ok and do i need help. Unfortunately I can'y say that for other male person helping me was rude full of him self and act like he is president so learn something form your colleague.

I have a question.i am an F1 student in the US if i were to apply in Canada will that cause me to get rejected?

Amazing experience. The securities at the front (especially the 3 from today) are amazing. Happy, helpful and sympathetic. Their kindness is much appreciated.
Many reviews complain about the rules of no bag, etc.it is clearly stated at the front and common sense at any embassy.

I had an interview last year, I was reading the reviews and felt anxious. So Iong story short, I went for my appointment, it was at 8: 00am I came around 7am an hour earlier, I had everything (documentary) prepared in an envelope, also left my cellphone in the hotel and was the first to line up outside the embassy. It was a very cold snowing morning in January so be prepared. Anyways, everything thanks god went smoothly. The officer opened the door at exactly 8 and I went through the security process so did the other people that were there. Just followed instructions and I waited until they called my name and successfully got my visa (K1)! They were all respectful and very professional. Just be prepared basically! Good luck everyone:)
