In a nutshell, my experience has been spoiled by ROACHES YES COCKROACHES, deception, disgustingness and a general lack of care. The evidence is clear if you've seen the pictures and videos – the state of our unit has been nothing short of disgusting from the day we moved in. If, like me, you've had the misfortune of moving into an already roach-infested unit, you're left feeling trapped. You wouldn't expect a unit costing $4575 a month between 4 people to have a roach problem there ready for you as you move in, right? Wrong. I waited so long waiting and hoping something would change but nothing. And if you are racially and overall harassed by a roommate don’t even for a second have the illusion that they’ll have your back. Or just transfer to this much more expensive room of course their only solutions mean you pay more.
When you initially express interest in Envie, you'll receive prompt responses. However, as soon as you sign your lease, getting any kind of response becomes a challenge. Promises of an easy room switch, made when they're selling you the place, evaporate when you actually need assistance. Attempts to contact anyone regarding this have proved futile, with almost two months passing without resolution. Communication from the front desk lacks accountability, and the promises of "we'll take care of it" ring hollow.
The couch we received came with a multitude of suspicious stains and there is brown on the walls near the washer that resemble mold. Additionally, it's concerning that our unit can be accessed without our knowledge, and packages are routinely left out in the open, vulnerable to theft by anyone passing by. Moreover, don't be misled by any promises of shuttle buses, as you won't hear about them.
Roach problems can indeed occur in apartment buildings, but the real issue here is how sluggish management has been in responding and their poor communication.
It wasn't until a month later that we witnessed any real action and even that was a struggle to make happen. The pest control professional arrived, and we discovered that there was already a roach trap in place, something we were not informed of. This raises questions about whether this was an ongoing issue that the management knew about before our move-in. The lack of transparency leaves us with a sense of doubt and mistrust.
One would expect that the food mess under the stove, as seen in the pictures, would have been cleaned before our move-in or at least once the management realized there was a roach problem. The sheer amount of filth under the stove could spawn a new pandemic and serve as a feast for an empire of roaches, but regrettably, nothing has been done about it. It’s so disgusting and unsanitary that we aren’t even qualified to clean a mess like that and once again the unit came like that.
Envie pretends they care about you and as soon as you are stuck in your lease they’ll show their true colours. Don’t make the mistake I did. Even for your typical money munching business that doesn’t really care this is a lot to deal with.

Handicap button to enter the front door does not work and has not worked for at least a year which is completely unacceptable.
Penthouse is not maintained- chairs are stained and dirty, pool and ping pong equipment is always broken.
Carpet and wallpaper design in the hallways are horrendous
The couches in the units are the same ones they had since the building was built so they are all faded, ripped, and smelly.

This review is for Envie Little Italy (I and II), and not their other locations.
Generally, the place seems to be well-maintained in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. Also, the units look almost identical to the pictures on the website. The cleaning staff are respectful, approachable and always smiling! However, some of their other staff are unprofessional and don’t seem to understand how the place should be run. For example, I called the leasing manager once, asked a question, and the call ended before he could answer. I called him back several times, but he never got back to me. I also emailed him, and till this day I did not received an answer! Another thing to note is that whenever a package arrives larger than what would fit in a mailbox, it is left stacked in the reception area, and anyone could potentially steal it. And good luck finding it at peak times! Furthermore, a friend of mine signed a lease and ended up with neighbors who smoke cannabis in the unit and are loud. When he asked for help, the building staff told him to 'deal with it. ' I experienced a similar thing with one of the people I stayed with, until I had to move out. In a nutshell, during my stay there, I felt that Envie is overmarketed; their ads tell you that they 'care' about you, but in reality, as soon as you sign the contract, they honestly forget that you exist.

The help I received from leasing manager Madison Rover has been nothing short of exceptional, she helped me with all my questions and moving process.

I have stayed in many places in the city of ottawa and I have to say this is by far the best experience I have ever had in this city. The you Envie team and management.

Been living here for 2 years, except some rooms in the suite can be really small and overpriced, I find it a pleasant place to live. All furnitures included is a huge pro. About it being a student-only apartment, some people like it because it feels safe that way (me too tbh), but students can be loud sometimes too. It depends on your neighbor. The walls are not the thickest, and I can hear upstair neighbors talking when it's after midnight. Would appreciate it if the housing rules such as smoking weed and noise could be more enforced. But overall I would recommend this place to my friends!

It seems like they've changed up the management here since a couple years ago. Everything runs pretty smoothly and the building itself is just convenient to live in in all aspects. If there was any con, it would have to be the frequent fire alarms, but that's not even Envie's fault. Also Marina is such a delight to see and greet when you walk in!

Currently living here and I have nothing but praise for the staff at envie student. You will get pampered so much its almost like living at a hotel!
