The owner (Mohammad) has resorted to cheating loyal patrons. Over our last several visits we received our order with several of the items missing compared to the written menu. Upon pointing it out, we heard excuses such as "the menu has changed but not updated yet" and even "I just forgot to add that dish" and brought the said item later on! I understand that updating menus can take time, but the customers can at least be verbally informed about the change. Very disappointed with the recent attitude we have seen over our last few visits and have finally and unfortunately decided to not visit this restaurant again!

Dined in for lunch today, the food and service was impeccable! Love the ambience and the gentlemen running it was so kind and attentive. Had the meat and vegetable lunch special and a coffee, will definitely be making this a regular spot for us. Want to try the coffee ceremony next time. Highly recommend!

Delicious food with a fun ambiance and friendly service. I find the injera is a bit less sour than other places but still very tasty. They have hand wipe packs at each table for convenience.

I really liked the stuffed jalapeno. It's very fresh with a lovely spiced hit from the onions but it doesn't leave you stinky! It's a bit spicy though!

My favourite Ethiopian restaurant in Canada for the past 20+ years. I always try to visit when I’m in town. Highly Recommended.

We tried three plates for three persons and was arrived a huge plate all together inside.
The nice things is that all ingredients are on top of their bread. So you will eat everything on the plate and split with your dear friends?

So tasty! I had the vegetarian platter with eight different dishes, all of them were so good. Low key place, nothing fancy, but the food is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable (even though the prices on the menu may not actually be what you end up paying.)
You will have to eat with your hands! If that's not cool for you, this is not a place for you.

I wont go to this place for quality of food and drinks. I liked the vibe, the colorful design and the location.

A true Toronto gem, the food comes quick, one of the friendliest waiters I've ever met and best coffee in the city. You will never have coffee so smooth!

We have never had Ethiopian food before but the owner? Was so nice and explained everything to us. The atmosphere was very friendly and the coffee ceremony was a great experience. Great food, service and loved learning about the culture.

Not entirely convinced that this place isn’t a front. Prices don’t seem to have been updated in years, so the owner gets away with charging you any amount he feels like. Food was OK but incredibly tiny portions for the price we ended up paying. I’m sure there are way better Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto.

Pretty good food but bad service and they rip you off like crazy. Nothing on the menu is the price they actually charge you and it sounds like they make it up on the spot. At first tried to sell us a bottle of ontario wine for $55, then said hed take it down to $35 even tho it was like $23 on the menu. In the end they dont give you a bill and just charge you wtv they think theyll get away with and slaps on a mandatory 20% tip for bringing water once and not even pouring it (we were 4 ppl). We paid like $65 per person in the end but when we did the math later it should have been closer to $45 max even with his 20% tip and the extra $4 he said is added to every dish for inflation. I absolutely get that prices have gone up but not this much and the way the waiter approached our billing was downright dishonest and sketchy. They pretty much stole from us. Its a shame too because otherwise its a neat place but if this is how they treat people I really hope they go out of business.

I feel like most of the positive reviews are 99% for the novelty of the food but there are other Ethiopian restos in GTA.

The food was good but the service wasn't. First we had to wait for our table even if we were on time for our reservation, then they gave us a table without cleaning it after the previous customers have left and finally the waitress messed up our order. The food is fine but we will not return to this restaurant.

Tried many other Ethiopian restaurants in Toronto and Montreal, but they have all only confirmed the Ethiopian House as my go-to.

Ethiopian House has always made my wife and I feel like we're visiting family. Consistently great food and service. We could say more, but I believe there's really no need.

The owner is a delight! He makes you feel right at home and is very attentive and friendly.he took the whole experience to the next level when the food and the vibe were already amazing on their own.it is also very reasonably priced.great place to take a friend/date or a small group! Will for sure go again!

Mohammed, who claims to run the place, is a scammer and a cheat. He didnt offer us any menus when we sat down. After our dinner, he charged us $60 for a meal which would cost us $ 21 at any other Ethiopian restaurant. When I confronted him about the bill, he immediately refunded me $20 and apologized. His actions proved that ge is a scammer, a liar, a deceiver and a cheat. This man is not to be trusted and if u visit this restaurant, be very wary and careful. They will cheat and scam you if and when they can. I will never return. I suggest u go to other Ehiopian restaurants in town. Avoid this one at all costs. They will cheat, scam and swindle you. A pathetic and disgraceful place to eat. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I'm a big fan of Ethiopian food, particularly tibs, and will happily try out new places when I can. Ethiopian House was the first place I ever tried my now favorite food, and to this day, is still the best I've come across. Part of it is the atmosphere. It's a renovated house just at the top of the downtown core. It's filled with beautiful pictures and decorations. It's clean and the scents. Roasting coffee and incense, not overwhelming, with cooking food in the undertone. The space is a bit tight, but still comfortable. The food is sooooo good. Again, big fan of the tibs, and my sister swears by the vegetarian selection dish, all of which are vegan since they make their bread dairy free. But the added bonus to all of this is the coffee ceremony. You order it at the beginning of your meal, and the roast the beans themselves, bringing some out for you to peruse during your meal. At the end they bring incense and popcorn and this heavenly roasted Ethiopian espresso, dark but with a sweetness to it. Definitely worth your time if you like coffee, maybe even if you don't, since I do it every time and don't drink coffee otherwise.
