What a lovely experience going into Fabrications Ottawa! First off, the staff couldn’t be any nicer or more helpful. They have a very small selection of yarn BUT…. They carry MadelineTosh yarn which puts it at a 5 star for me! I have looked all around Ottawa and they are the only place that I could find it!

Huge selection of premium fabric for quilting and garment making. Friendly, knowledgeable staff provide help and no pressure sales approach. The business offers classes and a huge supply of thread and notions. I also love picking through the remnant shelf and usually leave with something unexpected! Love love love this place

How have I never left a review before? The only place in Ottawa to find a great selection of quality garment AND quilting fabric, patterns and notions, and yarn too! Friendly, helpful, professional staff, and a willingness to help clients find what they need even if that means referring them to another local business. Fabrications is so great! They’re always keen to fawn over patterns and project ideas, carry great fabric and notions, provide helpful advice, and do an excellent job of thread colour matching for online orders, even if what you give them is “jeans coloured please”. Highly recommend, they’re always just so lovely.

As a newbie sewer, I always find the staff super helpful to guide me in the right direction to choose the right material for my projects and they help me make sure I get everything I need in one go and offer helpful suggestions of where to find items they might not have. If like me you need some help with stuff like that, if you can, visit on a weekday as weekends can get quite busy! Love that they have so many unique and different fabrics - some really fun prints - and that they have lots of other supplies for other crafts I enjoy like needlepoint and embroidery. Found Fabrications during the pandemic as they were offering curbside and have stayed because of the excellent support they give in-store and their general ethic (recently sharing ways to support sewists/crafters in the Ukraine for eg).

I love, love, love Fabrications! Their selection never disappoints and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. My favourite items in my wardrobe are all made with fabric and/or patterns that I’ve bought at Fabrications.
Pro tip: Be sure to check out the remnants. They’re often a good size and there’s always something tempting!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Customer Service in this store. All of the staff are eager to help shoppers find just the right supplies for any fabric or yarn product at a variety of price points. If they don't have it they are happy to direct you to one of their competitors. The store is so clean and bright and well laid out that you can't help but be happy when you leave. Their website and FB page are also fun and easy to use.

I have ordered way too much material from Fabrications because they have such a great selection of high quality fabric. I recently completed a quilt for my 90 year old mum and couldn’t have done it without the guidance from Fabrication staff. They took the time to offer suggestions and compare choices with me. They are all fantastic!

With limited and diverse batches of fabric you can feel confident that your hard work won’t easily be duplicated by everyone else. The owners follow ethical business practices and wear their values on their sleeves. Heck, they make their own sleeves!

A fantastic store! I always find the most amazing fabric/project kits. The turn around for ordering on line is so fast plus I love the recipe cards. The staff is always so helpful and encouraging.

Without a doubt Fabrications is one of Ottawas best places to buy fabric. Staff are so knowledgeable and can help you find exactly what you need for your project. With both quilting and apparel fabric there is something for every sewist. And they now stock yarn so it really is a crafters paradise.

I’ve been a fan of Fabrications since day 1 in Hintonburg. Their fabric selection is amazing and the staff has always been wonderful. Since Faustina has taken over there has been nothing but good things to say about her and her amazing team! Stay positive! You have way more loyal customers and fans that actually shop and respect your decisions than the few selfish idiots who don’t want to wear masks that have never shopped in your store.

Very friendly and helpful staff with knowledge of many crafts. During the pandemic, they went out of their way to get me the fabric, etc.that I needed. I fully support their on-going mask mandate and hope they keep it for a while to come. Ottawa needs more stores with wonderful, friendly, helpful staff like these. I definitely recommend the store.

Very friendly and helpful service! I came in looking for information on interfacing for bags and they were incredibly helpful in explaining what I needed and how much. I also appreciated that there was no pressure to buy more, if anything I felt the opposite as I was worried maybe I needed more and she assured me that the smaller amount would be more than enough. Deff recommend if you want that little bit of extra help ️

Booking was easy on the website, prompt call at scheduled time, helpfull shopping. I needed to see that my fabrics selections were perfect.
My order was cut and ready for pick up 2 hours later.
I love shopping almost in person:)

I’ve shopped with fabrications for years. I enjoyed their Hintonburg location but the new space on Carling is fantastic. Convenient and easy to access. Their selection of independent garment patterns, fabrics whether quilting cotton or garment is top of the line. The staff are amazingly friendly and their stance is clear, inclusion is the goal, and everyone is welcome.

In 2015, I had two bad experiences with the previous owners and vowed never to return to Fabrications. I heard back in 2017 from a friend that there were new owners. Today, I decided to give the new owners a chance and had an appointment. I couldn't be happier! The new owner is very nice and patient and Lindsay was amazing answering all my questions via email. Fabrications has a wide variety of fabrics and I felt safe during my appointment. Also, with the new location, there is plenty of parking! I definitely will be back for future projects! I highly recommend Fabrications, and it is more important than ever to support our local small businesses!

They have such a cute selection of fabrics and craft supplies. I started getting into embroidery from the adorable sets they have.

Was very excited about this local store, but it didn't last. Placed my first order: they didn't have enough stock to fulfill it completely, and then when I went to pick it up, they had lost it. Had to go back later to pick up after they found it. They did offer to ship it for free, but I was in the area. I decided to give them a second chance, because I understand mistakes happen, so I placed another order for pick up. After a week of no response, I emailed to request an update on the order. The response was basically, check your email we already told you it's ready. 30 minutes after this reply from Fabrications, I received the email from them saying it was ready for pick up. I will not be giving them a chance to strike out a third time as I have found other local stores with faster turn around & better service, as well as other online Canadian suppliers that are not local, but have better turn around & customer service. So disappointed!

While I miss being able to go in and shop in person, the pivot that Fabrications made so that their customers can continue to sew and craft in safety has been incredible. Their turn around time for orders is fast, the curb-side pickup is perfect and the website is so well organized that finding that something you didn’t know you always wanted is so easy.

I am impressed with their online ordering services. Very quick turnaround time! And fabrics are great quality.

One of my favorite fabric stores in Ottawa! If you want to get away from the big chain in Canada, this is an awesome local store. They have quality items, keep the store very clean and tidy, and their staff are always so friendly and kind. It is a great location in a more central location than most of the other locally owned fabric stores.

Belle petite boutique. On y trouve des tissus et des motifs peu commun et de qualité. Il y a des patrons de compagnies moins connues, mais qui méritent à être découverte.

Lovely little shop; but I think I suffered from having too high expectations.

I went in to buy some fabric for a dress I was cloning — I had the original dress with me I would use as a pattern. Offhand, I decided to ask the employee what length-ish she would guess this dress might require to confirm my guess (while holding the dress up to show her), and her reply was:

Employee: “Sorry, but I’ve only ever worked with purchased patterns, so I can only tell you what you need if you have a proper pattern to show me. ”

I responded, “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize. I was just looking for your best guess on length, to compare with what I’m guessing I need. ”. She said sorry again, and the interaction ended, until I was ready to have fabric cut / pay / leave.

The website for this shop led me to believe that all employees were experienced sewers, and quite frankly, that assumption is what brought me to the store. It wasn’t a negative interaction, she was a lovely young woman and very courteous.

It was very surprising to me: If I had a proper purchased pattern, then there would be no need for a second opinion.

I’m sorry to say, but it is not helpful to tell a customer all you can do is read instructions off a page. I would think almost anyone who has made a dress before, even once with a proper pattern, should be capable of thinking: ‘well, with the floor-length dress I made that one time, instructions called for 3m, and the dress this customer wants to make is knee length, so maybe about 2.5m’.

Friendly, knowledgable staff and a lovely selection of quality fabrics, notions, etc. A real gem. See you on my next trip to Ottawa.

Took a fabric dying class which was a ton of fun. They also have great fabric selections and friendly staff. Knowledgeable about their fabrics. Will definitely be shopping there again!

love getting to talk about sewing projects with the staff and I never feel rushed when perusing or trying to decide between fabrics. The fabric selections have been well curated and I always find something beautiful and exciting. Only problem is I go with one project in mind and find myself inspired to take on three new ones!

Cute store. The owner is VERY knowledgeable. The carry a lot of sewing and bead items. Even embroidery needles and such. Some of the beads are the same price I would see on Etsy or Amazon, so that is great. The owner also provided me with contacts for some unique lace ribbon I was looking for too. They also offer classes in beading. Great store. Worth a visit.

Everyone who works here is friendly and gives great advice. My previous rating was 5 stars but the selection of fabric is now disappointing. I looooved everything they had before. I loved going into fabrications and thinking there was finally a store that carried fabric for me. Now I feel as though its for people much older or people sewing for babies.
Please bring back more trendy fabrics. This store was a gem and stood out from the regular run of the mill fabric choices.

Loved the class for the Maxaloones. The shop has a nice atmosphere and the ladies are very helpful.

A really good fabric store, quite a few fabrics to choose from, ranging from clothing to decor. Staff is fun and really nice. Classes are available and seeing machines are there for renting, 10$/hour. Prices are usually 20$/m of fabric, give or take 10$ for quality or pattern. I found the range of colours pants materials were a bit small, but also no one but me wants red denim.
