Website advertises loan as a free estimate without impacting score. Representative asks me for information and asks to check credit score. Upon which she tells me that there is no credit approval, having done a hard inquiry. The defence for this is that they do not have the ability to do an estimate on store but they do online. So the website can give you an estimate without affecting your credit score but apparently not in store. This doesn’t make sense, nether is checking someone’s credit score the same as a hard inquiry.

Not to mention I was above the required credit score as per the same morning where I was able to check using the free credit check that most banks offer. Her response to this is that it takes time to update on my system, however I never did a hard credit check so it would not have impacted my credit score. Now I have to deal with the hard inquiry for another 7 years.

As per their excuse, it’s better to deal with their website than the bots in the store.

Yesterday I had an appointment with the loan officer named Meet. He was very kind and professional. He explained everything thoroughly in an easy to understand manner. The process was seamless, and I was in and out within 20 minutes.
