Having been a dog owner for a little over sixty years, I have had occasion to use a kennel many times. Until about 10 years ago, kennels were either vet clinics that offered boarding or independent kennels that were usually repurposed garages, sheds or barns. Typically these were equipped with stacks of crates, very restricted area for exercise and questionable care. I hit a low when taking our two dogs back to a kennel we had used one time. One of our dogs, a Golden Retriever turned around and tried to pull away rather than enter the building That was the last straw for me.

We began making inquiries from vets, other dog owners and searches on line. One kennel was suggested by multiple sources - Fargo Ridge Kennels. We arranged a visit to look at the premises. What an astounding difference from what we had experienced in the past. We saw a boarding facility built specifically as a kennel with provision for each pet to access a private grassed area from their enclosure through a swinging door. Beyond that was a communal grass paddock segregated by size of dog. The location was temperature controlled, secure and staffed by caring and helpful people.

Needless to say, we have not used another kennel since discovering Fargo Ridge. Compared to prior experiences, when we pull into the entrance drive, our dogs go nuts, barking and wagging their tails and then straining against their leashes to get inside as quickly as possible. What peace of mind for us.
