Used to like shopping here when they did not raise their prices too bad compared to other grocery stores but now the prices are egregious. The paper bags are so bad I can’t believe they use these and charge for them. Nothing like picking up all your groceries from the parking lot pavement once it rips open.
Fresh fruits and vegetables. Lots of variety at this store. Good location. 2 issues are the paper bags for groceries suck. They break within a minute and have no handles. The cloth ones are expensive. The other is the food bar. It tastes good, but I had the meatball and spaghetti and that night I was puking etc. So stay away from the buffet bar. It's really overpriced anyway. Love the farm boy popcorn and the bakery area has some tasty cakes and pies. The deli has some good meats but pricey.
They really know their customers. If you want fresh, sustainable, and allergen/diet-friendly, this is the place. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.always such good food though.better than any other place.
Normally, I have a very good shopping experience here. This last trip however was anything but. Asked the bakery for some fresh cheese sticks as there were none in the counter. I was brought a bag of frozen ones that appeared to have shriveled. Cashier was also quite rude telling me I shouldn't be tying my plastic produce bags in a knot.what difference does it make? I Farmboy but will not shop at this location again.
Little pricier than is like, but then you are paying for the frills. Ironically for a place called farm boy, I like everything here except for the fruit and vegetables produce. I don't find it fresh. But the butcher is great and the good selection of other foods is always a reason to go.
Great quality produce and meat. My only issue is that there's very few stuff that gets put on sale and usually the sale discounts are very minimal (usually 50 cents off a $10.00 item). Some prices could be a bit better but freshness and quality of most items is pretty good.
While Farm boy's prices can certainly be beaten at other stores, the quality of the food at this location always matches the price. I'm also giving 5 stars to this location for their exemplary presentation of products in each aisle.
Excellent food. I got in without lining up. Not too crowded inside. Quick passage through cash. When I came out there was a long line waiting but they deal with it efficiently. Great place for groceries but not a bargain store. Quality over low prices.
Farm Boy's fresh produce, meats and cheese are great quality. This store however needs an update as the building itself looks to be falling apart due to its age.
The service was nice and the people quiet. If you wish to shop at a quality grocery store and stay healthy then I would suggest shopping here. You can buy reasonably priced groceries here.
Fresh produce, fresh meats and well organised grocery shop. Staff has a very good customer service. Highly recommended for grocery shopping if you do care how fresh are the stuff that you buy while having a peace of mind dealing with the staff.
Great options for healthy (er) food options, weird lights inside the store though feels like it's a fever dream while you're in there. Mechanical swinging monkey is a big plus but sometimes he's broken.
I LOVE Farm Boy. Excellent quality, service. Love their in house products (shepherd's pie, perogies), amazing cheese selection, and the only place I will buy meat. Clean stores. My only complaint is the prices. But you get what you pay for!
I just returned from Farm Boy where the lines were very long for 9: 30 on a Sunday. I can't express enough how friendly the staff was. The young girl in front disinfecting each cart and letting customers know which ones have been wiped down. At the butcher, he was smiling, chatty and very helpful. Sylvana was my cashier smiling, asking how I was but you can see the stress on her face looking the line. I reminder her that she was doing a wonderful job and she can't control it. She thanked me and said I made her day. The truth is she made mine by warm and wonderful customer service. Thank-you Farm Boy for training your staff to be so calm.
Probably The best place healthy meals. The salad and hot bar ARE pretty expensive considering what it is but it’s convenient and pretty tasty. Try the detox salad, it’s delicious!
They really are on top of it! Due to the virus they make sure everything is clean. Thank you for the extra efforts. A company that respect there clients and care for everyone health
The Farm Boy at Merivale Mall offers up great food to purchase and eat for lunch or take home. Soups, salads, sandwiches and much more. As far as grocery stores go, it is at par with the other big boys.
3 stars because they can't manage the crowds effectively. This store is always packed making it hard to navigate with your cart and having to constantly move around people. The premade burgers are amazing though, especially the blue cheese ones.
Superb selection of fruits, veggies, fish, cheese, breads, bakery, seasonal fruits, salads & lots of vegetarian & vegan options. Parking is handy and staff are very friendly and there is rarely a long lineup even during busy times. Lots of staff. Store is very clean and always an abundance of produce displayed with pride and care. Prices are very reasonable. Highly Recommend!
This is a great store it has a: deli, fish, meat and bakery counter. My favourite ham is the Mclean's Seasoned Black Forest styled ham. I convinced my girlfriend to try it and her guests liked it also. The Rosemary ham, Chorizo and Angus Roast beef are good as well. All the deli meat on the black plates are nitrate and preservative free. We often pick up a shrimp ring and smoked salmon. The Tandoori flattened chicken (back bone removed) is quick and easy to prepare. And there are five (5) other flavours that we have yet to try. This Farm Boy carries Viking sweet and sour rye bread (from Toronto) which makes a nice compliment to the deli meat (as do the Rideau Bakery rye and pumpernickel breads). I use Rideau Bakery egg bread for grilled cheese which takes grilled cheese to a whole new level. The Pastel de Nata (a Portuguese egg custard pastry) is excellent with your morning coffee or afternoon tea. There are a few different Brands of Kombucha (fermented flavoured green or black tea) to choose from. I have often been asked, (outside) if I need help carrying my groceries to the car. Needless to say, I am very impressed.
Farmboy always has the best produce! Also, a great selection of cheeses, love the cold and hot food bars, and they carry quite a few fancier artisanal and local hard-to-find products.
The higher prices are offset by the fresh products. I am never disappointed when I shop here. Also, the the hot buffet is tasty, however the selection needs to be switched up sometimes to keep it interesting, as it is always the same food and that can get old and boring.
This one of my to go places to grab a quick bite for lunch. There are always tons of healthy options and they even offer vegan and vegetarian option. The coffee is also great.
8: 40 this morning my girlfriend and I stopped by your store to get something at your breakfast bar, instead of going at McDonald's or Tim Hortons. The till was frozen and the supervisor did not thought about letting us go first in another cash, she was keep on struggling with the till and we end up leaving with no breakfast. Thee about 10 other people in line when another cashier open her till and let the others passed. The supervisor gave us a look because we left our coffee and our breakfast there. I did not wanted to be late for work. No need for that look. If you can't fix it fine just pass the clients in another till right away.
I love getting my produce at Farm Boy, you can always count on local, well-priced items. I love to hit up the discount rack. Also. A great place for vegan options.
