FBC London, Farm & Small Business Tax Specialists

We used FBC SW Ontario for 2 tax seasons. Initially, our rep told us he was at arm's length and very easy to contact for any issues or concerns throughout the year, not just tax season. That was not the case. We were never given his phone number, only a general 800 number where I would have to request for him to call back which would take days. It often took our rep weeks to email back with repeated emails requesting support.

The nail in the coffin was this tax season. Our taxes were prepped and I recieved a summary in mid April. I came to find out in May that our taxes hadn't been filed. I had to call 4 times, before I was able to speak to my reps supervisor (again because my rep doesn't answer emails in a timely manner).

The supervisor advised me that the rep did not complete a section of our taxes and that was why they weren't filed. The supervisor ended up completing and filing them (today, on May 30), but offered nothing other than an apology. I'm glad I followed up so vigorously as you would think someone would've reached out to let us know there was a delay. Nothing of the sort.

For context, our tax returns were straightforward and required little hands on work, and we paid a price of 1000.00 for this service.

A truly poor experience we would not recommend this company at all. This company tag line is "making life less taxing", which may be true depending on the rep but ours certainly was not someone who was reliable or communicative. Very disappointed.

We've been working with Frank at FBC for years and we won't leave him lol He's been so great! My husband and I sell. Real estate and recently incorporated. He was there every step of the way! Knowing that we can get answers or an in person meeting promptly is reassuring.

WARNING! This is a horrible company! Do not do any business with them. They took our money and now are not responding to any of our calls or messages. They’ve had our book keeping since November and nothing has been done. Our business taxes have to be done by the end of March and we can not get a straight answers from anyone. We had the same issue last year and they’ve provided us with a different accountant for this year and it’s the same issues. We can’t get a hold of our account the last sms message we got from him is that he’s busy with his horse farm. What a joke! We have called and spoke to a supervisor about the issues with our accountant and he assured us he would look into this and call us back next day at the latest. Well it’s been a week. This company should not be in business and if they don’t fulfil their obligations I will be contacting a lawyer. Needless to say I will not be renewing my contract with them and I will be warning everyone not to do business with them. If someone from your company reads this know that you have lost a customer but you probably don’t care!

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible experience with FBC. No communication. They take your money and don't provide the services they say they do and take days/weeks to respond.
I signed up with FBC the beginning of Oct. Paid my first installment and as of today have received ZERO services from FBC. I unfortunately dealt with my bank taking a very long time to process my business credit card. I had to wait over a month which was beyond my control. After I paid my first installment which I was told provided services until Dec I heard nothing from FBC. I received a call asking about my credit card again which I was transparent with FBC and the issues I was having. I was then told 3 weeks AFTER that the office was putting up a fuss about the credit card. At NO point was I ever told services would be refused unless a credit card was on file. If I had I would have provided a personal one and switched it over once my business one came through. At no point did FBC follow up with me, I had to email multiple times and wait days/weeks for a response. I wrote in asking for a full refund and that my contract be cancelled as I did not want to be associated with this very unethical company on Nov 4th 2022. I had to follow up Nov 9th because no response was received. I got a response that my contract would be cancelled and a refund provided. As of today Nov 23,2022 nothing has been communicated or refunded. I followed up again Nov 16,2022 and have yet to receive a response. This company is unprofessional, unethical and has zero customer service skills.

Edit to review: After posting my review on Google as well as filing a claim with BBB I received a call the same day, was provided a direct number to a team member to be able to reach out to and was told I would receive my refund by the end of November which I did.

This company has amazing communication - until they get a payment from you. At that point, contacting them to get any sort of response or help becomes impossible. They are completely unprofessional & have caused me a great deal of stress just trying to get my paperwork back to go somewhere else. Their fees are incredibly high considering they don't really offer much in terms of services. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This is a wonderful company. We have been associated with them for over 20 years. Their representatives are friendly and very knowledgeable. They work hard on your behalf and in the event that you are audited they fully represent you so you are not involved. They are always available to answer your questions and/or concerns. The FBC representative Jeff Paul, that was directly involved with myself & my company, was in one word incredible. After having several accountants previously with my company cost me thousands and thousands in mistakes and lack of care. Jeff from FBC made me feel at ease with the process, he took additional time to explain the options that we had when it come to our company accounting & tax options. I’ve been with FBC for 3 plus years now. The time that they have saved me and the stress they have reduced for me is a welcome change from doing my tax filing and planning on my own. I run an incorporated business as well as a sole proprietorship.

I have several contact points within FBC and have yet to be disappointed. These include a) a rep specifically assigned to me. I find it so beneficial to be able to call when I have a simple question and of course a more complicated one … b) a tax specialist who comes to my home twice a year to prepare our personal tax returns as well as my corporation tax return, c) an HST Specialist who has worked tirelessly with the CRA on our behalf helping communicate our business uniqueness in renting eye surgery recovery rental equipment, and finally d) an audit specialist who addressed a CRA travel audit on our behalf something that each of us who run our own businesses should expect.

Where would I be without FBC? Probably on the phone with the CRA. I truly know FBC has my back. They have allowed me to focus on building my business and serving others. Thank you FBC for all you do!

If you are looking for accounting services because you depend on them to look out for you, FBC is NOT for you. I am fortunate that I have a book keeper and administrative assistant that tried to keep on top of things when FBC did not, otherwise I still wouldn't know about late filings. They probably offset the penalties with their high fees and pretend everything is up to date. They will abuse your trust.

I have recently paid for and filed my 2018 tax return with somebody else, which was something FBC was supposed to do, but did not. I will be facing late filing charges and likely other penalties, and it is 100% their fault.

Their fees are significantly higher than other accounting companies, I would assume because they think you offer a greater service to their clients.
They do not. They were late and sloppy about what they did do, and now I have to pay for things they did not do.

FBC is always there for us. Very quick to answer questions, look into things and offer a wide variety of options for our business.

Frank looked after me and was there every time I called or emailed. He even earned me some money back when I was sure Id have to pay.
I appreciated the personalized service and thought the whole experience was outstanding!

Couldn't find less than one star to rate this company. Horrible mistakes when they filed my taxes, led to paying more taxes than expected. Messed up HST return on time resulted in paying $4000 penalty. Don't recommend them.

I hired FBC in 2016 to complete my taxes on my newly incorporated business. They did not complete my taxes as per the signed agreement, resulting in a letter from CRA. When I requested an update, FBC did not know I was a client despite the fact that I had already paid in full for the service. FBC then proceeded to submit a late and incomplete 2016 tax return but agreed to provide free service for my 2017 in lieu of the error, only to perform yet again an incomplete 2017 tax return. I immediately fired FBC and stated in writing no further work was to be done on my 2017 income tax submission and requested the return of my documents. When I attended FBC in London ON, the manager demanded I sign a release form, I refused. Enraged he began to harass me out of the building all the way to my truck. I quickly locked my doors. Despite the fact I requested in writing that no further work was to be done on my 2017 taxes, FBC submitted my 2017 HST incomplete and without my permission. This action resulted in a CRA audit for both 2016 and 2017. In my experience FBC is unprofessional, incompetent and the level of harassment I experience was reportable. Edgar does a great job every time. He comes to the house sets up shop and the taxes are done. I don't have to worry if I have all the paper work with me I can just go to my desk and find anything that might be missing. They are fast and everything is done right!

I have been using FBC for at least 30 years.
As far as I remember they only made one mistake filing my taxes. They corrected it and we moved forward.

I was audited several times FBC handled it with out my time being wasted, every audit was found out that FBC had done their homework originally and before tax time as well during the audit. Every audit was found to be in my favour.

James has been extraordinary in helping us deal with life altering decisions the last number of years. We have appreciated his calm and knowledgeable approach as he has helped us make decisions about retirement and inter-generational things. He even keeps the tax man happy too.

We use FBC for our small business for accounting. Always great support when I call, when our accountant comes out once a year, he is easy to get along with. I even have payroll support which I need from time to time.

Brutal service. They borderline on completely incompetent. Was with them for 5 years, way to long. Each year the price would go up and the level of service would go down. I was on a never ending rotation of agents. Each one needed hours and hours of extra time to understand the business and then they would try to charge me 300+ for each visit on top of the ludicrous yearly fee of $4500+ for my business that has no employees. They made an error which got me an audit on year 3. I recently just left them and thought they had finished my last return. Turns out the did my Corp return but forgot to submit my HST return. Honestly do yourself the favour and stay far away from these guys. There are much cheaper and much better tax services available for small business.

I like that I have the same representative each visit and that he is willing to answer my questions. He also attends lawyer's visits and is willing to contact the C. R. A.office when necessary.

Very happy with the level of service from FBC. It is great to be able to talk to the same rep every time. Quick service and thorough, professional advice. I look forward to continuing to work with FBC in the future.

FBC has been with my family since I can remember in grade school and now as I start my own business years later it's reassuring to know that the same people who helped Mom and Dad are helping me. Peter and Blake are very helpful, and most importantly, make me feel totally confident (both in what they do and in their ability to help me financially/ with my own start up).
