First Choice Haircutters

Terrible customer service. Mary at Wilson And Keele was beyond incredibly rude and abrasive. Down right nasty and felt extremely entitled to her opinion. My hair cut was OK. She must rely on walk ins because I can’t imagine anyone asking for her again. First choice should be ashamed of such poor service. Your prices are not near cheap enough to put up with that.

I walked in hoping my to get my son a haircut. Upon entering, not a single person greeted us but one person looked over at us. I asked her if they could take my son. She did not respond to me, but looked at her coworker who then responded. She was short with us and rude. Said “maybe we can take you in half an hour”. Maybe? So I’m going to sit her and possibly NOT get seen? Then she said they close at 3 and to not leave because they won’t take us after 2: 30.
I saw there was a salon across the street so I called them and was greeted so kindly. I left First Choice for them. I refuse to spend my money and tip rude people.

Have been going there for a few years now. Staff are courteous and friendly. Place is clean and tidy. Always pleased on my haircut.

I go regularly to this salon for years, my hairdresser is Shereen and I love her. She always does a great job.

Asked for curtain bang hair cut. The cut I received ended up being above my eyebrows. It was just a straight line bang cut with no gradual layering. This is my far worst experience ever.

Worst professionalism. I booked an appointment with Marta for 11AM and when I reached the salon she wasn't there. No updates as well and then after 30 mons of wait I was told she will be 1 hour late. This has happened to me a couple of times.
WILL NEVER EVER VISIT THERE.

Great clean spot, friendly older lady cut my hair. My usual spot, Raphael's (awesome) across the street was closed.

Mary is the best, she is great with my group of adults with special needs, she is always welcoming and she converse with them; it's never just a haircut and that's it.

Went to get a hair cut. Got there about 40 mins before they closed. Told they caouldn't do it even though the place was empty. Why didn't they just lock the door then and change thier sign to closed if they didn't want any more customers.

Have been coming here for a few years and I am always pleased with the results. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I regularly see Marta who is always excellent with my hair colour and very efficient. She is friendly along with all of the staff at the keele and wilson location.

Got here at 3: 55 on Sunday and wouldn't serve me, lady was very rude, older lady with red hair, do not recommend.

***DO NOT GO HERE*** They are really inexperienced with color and all I asked for was light brown all over color and my hair was medium -dark brown at the time, after Mary colored my hair it basically didnt work except turn the roots an ugly dark yellow blonde color (hot root) she then apologized to me and said "she didnt know it would do that" and the manager had the nerve to tell me "make sure you charge her for that" as she had to re correct my roots. Over 100$ later and they forced me to pay full price for the botched color job plus the root fix. I am in the process of filing a complaint with head office.

I went there because I needed a haircut ASAP but It was a bad choice, I don’t recommend this place.

These people don’t know what they’re doing

The first time I went I got Zulema. I wanted a deep conditioner with a blow out, and use a flat iron for beach waves.

She used a curling iron and I told her again that I wanted a flat iron (my hair is naturally really curly so the flat iron method avoids volume at the top of the head) and I asked her to turn the curls away from my face.

She kept saying “don’t worry it’ll look nice” and kept on going. When it was all done, it looked so bad! Big barrel curls, curled towards my face.

I immediately start knotting up my hair, turning the curls in the other direction to try and salvage them in time before my outing later that day.

She apologized and then said if next time I come and just want the deep conditioner it comes with a blow out for $25 (I paid $50 for the mess she made that day)

I went back a few months later to ask for a deep conditioner and a blow out. Immediately they start trying to up the price because I have curly hair (which is discrimination! Why should I pay more just because I don’t have straight hair? There’s nothing I can do about it. Make the prices equal!)

They said it would be $25 for the deep conditioner and $25 for the blow out. So then when I tried to just get the blow out without the treatment, then then wanted to charge me more for the shampoo! She said I was being difficult because I was trying to understand the pricing.

At that point I left and went to the higher end salon across the street

Zulema was my hair dresser. Reading reviews I seriously thought she had a bad day or something. Turns out every other 1 star review is to the point honest. I asked for a simple number 2 comb over with a tapered back. Let me tell you what I got.

Lets start with my sides. With a combover the side that the hair is sweet to is blended, however she gave a buzz cut on both sides. Also notable I had to remind her to do my sideburns and even then they're uneven.

On the back she didn't do a taper but a fade starting almost bald at my lower hairline and not getting to a #2 length until about the middle of my head. To note, she did not do the same to my sides so it looks very odd.

The top of my head she did with scissors. I asked for about 2 inches in length, she left 5. I asked her for shorter and she redid it, though it is still long. Contrasting with my sides it looks awful.

Moving to my bangs, with a normal combover past hair dressers do either a straight cut or an angle. She attempted a straight cut with an odd V shaped bang.

The place had no line and I can see why. The quality of the cut was abysmal. Please spend the extra $5 and go to a better place.

Worst place ever! I went to get my hair cut. I made it clear to the lady that I wanted to cut 2 inches and then I wanted my hair shaped in the”v”. Then she told me my hair was dry to cut a little more. I told her how short would it look then she showed and I said okay that’s fine do it because my hair really did need a cut. She was cutting my hair I felt like something was wrong like she didn’t cut enough. I told her to cut it properly she didn’t do anything. It’s like she was scared to do her job or she was just scared to cut my hair. (I always do this haircut, so I know exactly what to ask for/ how it looks). So she said check it out yourself I did and she didn’t even cut anything I promise you that she didn’t even cut 2 inches like I asked in the beginning. Her giving me her advice about my hair and me going through with it I thought it would make a big difference but she didn’t even know what she was talking about and it looks like I didn’t even cut my hair! I don’t remember her name but she’s an older lady and has red hair. I’m never going to this place again first and last time. She only cut the tips of my hair not nothing like I asked. Waste of time and I could of cut my own hair if I knew she wasn’t going to do a good job! Wasted $22 for nothing I could’ve cut my tips at home!

The best salon I have ever visited. Really good customer service. Especially one person who is really patient with all the customers and takes care of every detail and gives the customer what they want. Right pricing for all the services but gets the same worth tat u would get in some of the top branded salons in Toronto.

Would have given it a zero star if i could. Went to the place at 8: 20 pm for a haircut and was told they cant take any more customers even though they did not have anybody waiting.was told they still have to cleanup and close cash registers, but then I dont understand whats the point of mentioning the place is open till 9pm on weekdays when in reality you stop taking customers well before that so have the correct timings so that people dont waste time in coming all the way and then be disappointed.
