Flick The Switch Artists 'Collective

Cool artists co-op in the heart of Queen St West. Open house was fun. Bought earrings, original prints and large scale Susan Stewart painting. It now hangs in dining room and sparks interesting conversations!

I have five Susan N. Stewart art pieces. Water colors and and ink/paint drawings. They have been part of my living space for about fifty years. They continue to please my eyes. Which probably means they continue to get through my eyes to my soul. Merci Susie. Well worth a visit to Flick The Switch to see (and feel) what Susan continues to do with her beautiful sense of color and very singular point of view.

I rented a studio in Parkdale from Flick the Switch. Although I wasn't able to take the studio in the end because of other commitments, Susan was a pleasure to deal with, and the vibe of the space and community was great.

I feel privileged to be a part of Flick the Switch Artists' Collective where we have our spaces in two of the loveliest Church property locations here in central Toronto. Our membership is diverse and supportive, and has provided me with opportunities for engagement when I have most needed it. Thank you Susan.

I've been renting a painting studio space at Flick the Switch Collective for 3 years now. The space is beautiful, ideal for artists and writers. Susan is a very attentive and helpful manager of the space.

Flick the Switch is a great collective to join if you are an artist in Toronto looking for a community of creatives to share ideas and opportunities with. Since I joined in January 2023 I have been fortunate enough to help curate and show my work in a gallery alongside my peers. The studio spaces are awesome overall - they feel very homey and are fairly affordable compared to others in the city. Love it here and would highly recommend!

This is my second year at Flick the Switch (Parkdale), and I can’t say enough positive things about it—and no negatives! The space is great and the light is brilliant. There’s a cooperative and helpful ethos among the diverse group of artists (diverse ages, backgrounds, mediums, styles, career stage, etc) For me, as a new painter, the opportunity to learn from more experienced and accomplished artists, is a godsend. And we couldn’t possibly have a more able supporter, motivator and networker than artist Susan Stewart who runs Flick the Switch.

I have been at Flick the Switch studios for about two years now, and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. It’s been so pleasant and I love my space so very much. I’ve been able to make amazing artworks here and focus on my studies as an illustration student. The environment and other renters are both lovely. Its also very quiet which I really appreciate when I need to get work done or just need a moment to myself. I highly recommend visiting or considering renting if you’re looking for a friendly, cozy, and artsy environment.

Flick the Switch Artists Collective supports artists by providing beautiful and affordable studio space, but it is much more than that. It is also place where you can see the work in progress of up-and-coming artists. If you have to the opportunity to attend an event there, I highly recommend you take advantage of it.

Susan Stewart's Medusa painting is the centrepiece of my collection. I was immediately captivated by it when I saw it hanging in the gallery in Minden. I'm not even sure it was for sale, but I couldn't get it out of my mind and called the next day to ask. When great art speaks to you, you have to listen.

I was lucky to grow up surrounded by Susan Stewart’s paintings because my parents are collectors of her art. Her work filled my childhood home with colour and movement. When I became an adult I got my own large piece which I absolutely love. Even after years of owning it, I still find new elements everytime I look at it. I know I’ll always have this large piece hanging in a central part of my home. It adds so much warmth and expression to my space.

I am most familiar with the art work of Susan N. Stewart whose paintings I have been collecting for over thirty years. Over that period I have discarded or sold other pieces but Susan's work always seems fresh and endlessly intriguing. I have appreciated, like any great artist, that her approach has changed over time and I have family portraits (commissions), abstract work, themed work, both on canvas and with found objects in large format and small. I recommend her work without hesitation.

We purchased a fabulous painting from Susan Stewart. The purchase went extremely smoothly and we got to spend some quality time with the artist, which was a fantastic experience.

This is a shared workspace for visual artists and creatives. It has a designated space for painters amd artists. With an outdoor meeting abd workplace, there is also coworking space for creatices who work at desks. It alao has a hightech classroom and rvent space for rent.

I've rented painting space from Susan at this location and had an absolutely amazing experience painting and interacting with Susan and the other artists I shared the space with. It was a beautiful working space I was very sad to leave after almost a year of painting there!
