Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery

My wife who has a wheat allergy was able to enjoy a couple of brews, something she rarely gets to do and thoroughly enjoyed (no reactions!). Great beers for me! No allergies. Our server was very knowledgeable about the beer and food menus. Will always try to visit when in Barrie.

Nice place to enjoy weekend night with friends in Barrie. On weekends due to live music, place is too loud. Wide range of beers to choose from, really nice collection of IPA’s. Coming to food, it’s expensive and very less options to choose from. However, they do have burger with veggie patty option (beyond meat).

If you love loud music and beers, this is the place for you.

Atmosphere is incredible and so unique. The drinks are so good and dude I ordered the wings and they were SCRUMPTIOUS!

Loved their beers for a long time! Brewery tour was incredibly informative and staff were very friendly. Surprised the bar menu was a little slim, could do with some sandwiches (mostly finger foods or a burger).

Great spot for craft beer in barrie, very welcomingenvironment, before I went here I wasn't too into craft beer, now I love it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the chocolate manifesto stout, it was soo good!

We came with our dog and sat on the patio and loved it! Great atmosphere and staff. Food and drinks are amazing!

We came here in a Saturday, the last hot one of the year. And we check that the place was with good music and we were craving some drinks. Guys the selection they have of their own beer is so great, many different kinds IPA, fruity, lagers and the selterzers a great drinks and not Sweet at all specially one with gooseberry flavor, sooooo good.the service amazing and great decoration, hoping to return back soon.

Fortunately the beer is good and the server was really good. The food is awful. First I had the Wholly Bowly Batman bowl- it’s not edible- it’s like a soup of bbq+ tamari sauce with quinoa and some veggies and pickled eggs- I couldn’t eat it. It tasted horrible. So we ordered the nachos. Again- a massive fail from the kitchen- the cheese wasn’t melted, chips were barely warm- couldn’t see the chips for the lettuce and then there was too much thick pasta sauce on top.
Bowls and nachos are easy dishes to do right- and yet both were epic fails.
The other menu items were not appealing either. They need to blow up their menu and try again.
I won’t go back.

Wow what a find! Great establishment, great food, great staff. We will most definitely make this a regular stop on our way to the cottage. We need this establishment in Toronto. You would have line ups out the door each day and night. Hats off to Flying Monkeys. Keep up the great food and beer!

This place is amazing! My two friends and I stumbled upon this brewery as we were walking. We just had to come in cause it gave instant cool vibes. We sat on the patio for a while then it got super windy so we got moved inside no problem! The restaurant is so funky and fun. To top it all off, we got to experience some live music. Shout out to our server Kylie, she kept us comfy and gave excellent service. 10/10, would come back here anytime!

They are just so friendly here!
My BF and I had a lunch date at Flying Monkey. We had a beer flight, nachos and a seltzer. My favourite was the INTERGALACTIC STAR GLAZER - Maple baltic porter on nitro.
We can’t wait to visit again soon!

This is the best craft brewery in Ontario at the very least. They’re beers are excellent and they’re seltzers are too die for. Definitely have the best taste engineers who clearly pay attention to what they’re putting out there.
Beyond that their location in Barrie is crazy cool and a great atmosphere. The food was also great. Highly recommended.

I came here in summer 2022. Very nice place, unique, entertaining. Every single corner has the a cool fact.

Very unique experience for sure! We got all 16 beers on tap as flights. I prefer their darker beers. There was tons of variety. I will definitely be returning for sure!

I get wanting to defend the decisions you’ve made but this whole doubling down on bad decision making is just atrocious.

You can’t tell your customers in good faith that this pumpkin beer you brewed was planned on being aged for a year in CANS prior to be released for retail sales. Anyone in the craft beer industry would tell you that’s a flawed and foolish approach. This beer should have been dumped when it failed to on sell last fall. Period.

You argue that some beers can be aged 10 years and point to one of your beers being barrel aged for 5 years. This is a bad faith argument and ignores basic facts. We are talking about vastly different products. Shelving a can for 2 years is completely different than barrel aging beer in wooden barrels or cellaring bottles.

You also completely leave out the fact that can lining meant to protect packaged beer deteriorates over time, quality breweries who are selling beer that is intended to age will BOTTLE those products and put wax on their caps to help defend against this deterioration of the lining in the caps.

You can have a magic packaging line, it doesn’t, it doesn’t affect the technology of the cans being made. Whether you are using crown or ball cans, no one possesses the technology to manufacture a can that will preserve the integrity of beer for 10 years. This deterioration starts to happen around 16-18 months in.

Please stop doubling down on your foolhardy response to a bad business decision. You're not only losing customers, you’re giving Ontario Craft Beer Industry a bad name.

Ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves. I’m disappointed in your brewery.

Stopped in to get a gift card and ended up buying a bunch of beverages. Had a long wonderful conversation with Jeff (super friendly!) who taught us about their selections of beers and seltzers and offered tastes of what they had. Love the graphics on the cans and the creative flavors!

Visited one of my favourite breweries up north at Flying Monkey Craft Brewery on Labour Day long weekend. So blessed that they open on public holidays ^^

The food, beer, and service here are always fantastic! They also sell their own merch and fridge in the front - got ourselves some super cool graphic tees, and a few beers and seltzers to go:)

The honey garlic wings are juicy and tender. It comes with a side of salad or fries (you can upgrade it to a poutine I think), plus veggie sticks (get the blue cheese dipping sauce!). The Yardbird buttermilk fried chicken burger was also nicely done, and I really enjoyed the fries!

This is only the second time that we have gone to this brewery, but I really want to thank the manager who provided exceptional customer service for us today. I think his name is Chris, but perhaps it was Tim? Anyway, he was absolutely stellar, and made sure that we will continue to be longtime customers of this wonderful brewery. We are huge fans of the beer, and will often purchase it at the LCBO, so it is a real treat to actually go to the source to drink it and to buy it. Many thanks to the manager! We were there early afternoon on August 22… Sorry for not getting the name right, but I really wanted to commend the excellent service that we were provided today. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You truly made the start of our vacation extra special.

La bière est très bonne et les serveurs (ses) sont sympathiques! Bonne idée d'avoir installé des lumières à chaque table qui une fois allumé indique à la serveuse que nous prêt à commander, comme cela évite des pas! Bravo!

Flying Monkeys is always a fun place to visit, with friendly staff, great beer and food, and an energetic atmosphere. On the evening we stopped in most recently, the musician was just getting started, and we had a great dinner. Highly recommended for anyone stopping in Barrie.

Flying monkeys has a great atmosphere and space. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our beers. One note is that since the vodka sodas aren’t fully gluten free, there are no options for people who can’t eat gluten. I always appreciate when a brewery has just one alcoholic option for my celiac friend.

We were happy to be seated in the patio with our dog but the food and service did not live up to our expectations. Chicken wings were cold and dry. The pretzel was very good. Service was super slow on a Monday evening and for some reasons our server was more interested in chatting with her colleagues and did not pay attention to our table. Eventually we asked bill and she was just disappeared, we waited in our table for 15 mins and finally we got the bill from another server. Just weird! The guy who passed the bill to us was nice.

Good food, need more lagery brews, everything's hopped. Thought I left my airpods there a week before, called and left a message. Their VM says they'll get back in a business day, wasn't the case.

Wait staff are young and friendly. Vibe is nice, live music rocks.

I love this place. They have such amazing craft beers. And the amazing selection of choices will make your head spin. Music, great atmosphere and guided tour of their brewery.

They have amazing food to compliment your beer like their flat nachos and wings. AMAZING!

Great spot for a casual meal. The beer selection is always top notch with interesting pilots to sample. The shareable platters are also of good portion size. They don’t take reservations - be sure to get there early as there may be a line to get in!

Had a great time for lunch! The sous vide burger was *incredible*. Probably the best burger I've had in years, wow. Service was friendly and attentive, beers were delicious as expected. Super cool spot, wish we lived closer!

One of the best craft brewery settings I’ve ever been to! Really fun and uniquely decorated. Loved trying their beers that I don’t see in the LCBO. The fried chicken sandwich and burger were great! Service was perfect on a Sunday at lunch.

Amazing beer and good food.
The choice of own-brewed beers is great, you can create your own tasting flight. There is something for all tastes.

The food is delicious for a brewery. We had the „Pound of Kennebec Fries“ and the „OG Brewery Salad“. The garlic aioli that came with the fries is addictive and totally worth a try.

Service was very attentive and friendly, we enjoyed our time here.
If you like beer and pass by, you HAVE to leave the highway!

We’ve enjoyed Flying Monkeys beer at other locations and finally went for early afternoon vegetarian nachos ($22.95) and beer at the Brewery. Bear was fantastic, nachos and service were not! The nachos were a bit burned all around the outside, there was an overabundance of iceberg lettuce, very few ingredients and certainly lack of cheese. We had two servers we hardly saw. We told both about the nachos and they said they would pass the message to the kitchen. After we left, I looked at our bill and did notice that we were given a credit of $5.74 which was very nice, however I would never order that again.

Great beer, great food, great music, most organized service in the province.

The beer is great. The food was great pub style food with a twist. The live music was much appreciated. The service was impeccable. Super intelligent "light switch" service so one of the wait staff comes and sees you asap. They also give a quick explanation of how everything works, where the bathrooms are and how the lightswitch works at the beginning. This allows the staff to save time and serve more tables and faster.

This will become a must go to when we visit barrie again in the future.

The beer is great, the restaurant is just as good or better!

Very busy though you might have to wait a little if they are short staffed it might be slower but if everything runs as usual expect a short wait but quick service when you do sit down.

Beer? Amazing. Food? Delicious. Service? I could have got my bill and refills faster if I ordered them from back home in Alberta.

We were here for 2 hours and maybe had our server talk to us 4 times despite walking by us about 3 times as much after disappearing for 20 minutes at least twice. Other than that, one of our favourite breweries.

Edit: We were aware and did use the light switch but that still meant at least 10mins without service. Either way, we will be back next trip out since we do love the beers you make.

Came in for lunch with my family, and I cannot recommend highly enough. I'm a long-time Flying Monkeys enthusiast, but had never been to the Tap Room. The beers were magnificent (obviously). But the food was also wonderful, the staff friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere the perfect embodiment of the vibe and attitude of the brewer. It's a bit of a trek for us, but I eagerly anticipate our next visit!

The best brewery we've been to! The decor and the vibe is awesome, even the cool washrooms! A band was playing (didn't catch their names) on July 3rd, and they were great! Not to mention the amazing IPA craft beer! So much fun, we'll be back!

Fantastic service, very delicious food and beer, with eye-catching and fantastically detailed interiors! The live music performance was the cherry on top. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town again!
