Food Basics

Very accessible supermarket, the prices vary from okay to almost good. Their selections of vegetables and fruits are good and priced much lower than other supermarkets. You always get what you paid for doesn’t exist here. You always get more value than what you’ve paid for!

Smaller location with smaller selection.
Meat / poultry section is always sparsely stocked. Especially if there's a sale.

Good place for produce, basic groceries and international food products. Pricing is reasonable, store is clean, new more open parking lot is better than the old one. Still a good place to shop. Running a little low of some stock volume items.

The worst store in Toronto in my opinion! Its trademark is the filthy floor at the entrance covered with ever present huge black marks of dirt. It feels revolting and depressing.
There are only TWO handicapped parking spaces, which I’m lucky if I get once out of ten visits! SHAMEFUL & UNACCEPTABLE!
Cashiers and the store staff, including the manager, are often dismissive, ill-mannered and even rude! A lot of customers are alike. Management dismiss their extreme rude and disrespectful behaviour, leaving you one on one to deal with them. No loyalty whatsoever! There are just way too many reasons not wanting to come there ever!

Customer dissatisfaction, they don’t understand customer’s situation. Service is not reliable or customer friendly. Although they are working they dont allow customer at 8.02 pm. Very bad service. I walked so far and got only 1 minute late. But they did not allow me. Totally dissatisfied

Prices quite reasonable for a large chain. Be careful of Frozen items as freezers are always breaking down there. Very poorly laid out hard to find things. On any particular day if you went for 20 things you will have to go elsewhere for at least four things. Staff seems quite nice.

This is probably the Worst Food Basics I have ever been to. At peak times they only have one cashier open, with lines that go to the back of the store. The store is a Royal mess and dirty as a pig pen. The staff here don’t care and the manager hid from me and refused to acknowledge the issues. DO NOT SHOP HERE! Save your time and sanity and go elsewhere. I thought the Food Basics at Sheppard/Vic. Park was bad, but this place wins the prize. Shame on you Food Basics & Metro Inc.

Always great deals the shelves are stock up again and the ac is keeping the store nice and cool! Enjoy shopping everyone happy Father's day they do have some nice steak there thick and big cuts perfect for dad, I personally like to get my meat at highland frams but I'm local and walking so basic is close for me.

No product! Empty, empty, empty.never, seen anything like this! All, the other locations l'v shopped.it, was a weird, and Bizzar, experience! I even, went on a normal, Tues, at 2: 00! Normal time.average amount of, customers. All, the FRESH' bins.empty, empty, ect? 40%had product, which was half, filled. Wish, l took a photo! Seem, like it was a LIQUIDATION SALE! BIZZAR, EXPERIENCE!

Things are out of stock usually and range of products is not that great. Organics and produce isn't fresh.

The store has all the necessities and I like the self check out counters, which a lot of other Food Basics do not have. My big complaint is that flyer items are almost always out of stock.

Small neighbourhood store. Weak on fruits and veggies. Oddly priced milk selection. You're probably here because it's close to your home because it's certainly not a destination grocery experience. Get here before the tunnelling starts.

My go-to supermarket. Have to pay attention to the promotions and discounts, you can get a lot more for less. This is not an ad.

Great prices, great product availability and great service. If you shop before 3PM on a weekday, you will find the store not busy at all.

This store is always out of refrigerated earths own unsweetened oat milk, it’s the number 1 plant base milk and you guys never order enough even before covid.

Mostly organized and stocked but prices are always much higher than competing grocery stores. They rarely have good sales. Sometimes rude checkout folks makes it a one star for me. Is never good to shout at customer just purchasing peacefully and following rules.

Good prices but a veeery long line to pay, only 2 cash registers open, people got really frustrated

The store is small and gets a lot of customers so physical distancing can be difficult, gets messy and dirty fast, less stock (out of stock easily), and line-up to pay gets long. The staff are friendly and there's plenty of parking (could be long walk to store entrance).

Great customer support, actually amazing customer support! Organized, roomy, lots of varieties, tidy and easy smooth check out. (better than other branches)

We shop here a lot. Good prices and decent stock. Staff is usually helpful and shopping experience is pretty pleasant. Managers and employees happy to go extra mile

What You can buy here is, milk, soft drinks, some vegetables, honey, some kind of cans (just when they on sale). Don't ever try to buy any kind of chicken or meat.

It was a very chaotic grocery store. There is no proper social distancing inside. The patrons were crowding and not properly socially distanced. I didn't feel safe in the grocery store.

The store is ok. Products availability is not bad. Free parking lot outside.
The main con is I had to wait for 20 minutes in the line at the checkout. Some self-checkout stations could be a good idea for the store.

Great store but whenever I visit this store, I find most of the items out of stock. Also, there is no self checkout.

Cashiers are not wiping down the belt. No one controlling customer traffic. Prices are decent but but the store overall feels very messy and disorganized.

There was a night I lost my laundry card inside the store so I told the produce clerk he went out of his way to help me and introduce me to the manager Tony Dawson. So Tony told me to come back the next day. So thats what I did and the next day, Tony assissted me call his assistant manager to look for my cards in the office. They got my card and return it to me. My point here is they went above and beyond just to help me to find my card. Kudos to this store for good customer service and definitely I will go here all the time now.

Too many people inside with no masks. I don't care for their pathetic excuses, I will have to avoid this place for a while.

I really love this Food Basics. I always see cashiers dealing with mean and unreasonable customers but they maintain good customer service. Thank you for being there and being super organized during the pandemic.

I also love this location because they have a lot of international foods and I always make it a habit to try something new every week when I go shopping. Their produce section is getting better too! The avocados don’t spoil after a day anymore.

Excelent except the meats. Prices are good, vegetables and fruits as well. Parking is good but is a bit tough to access the store.

Often lousy service. 8 tills, often fewer than 4 open, never 8. Line-ups at the "express" till 10-12 people deep. They could replace 3-4 tills with TEN self-service kiosks like everywhere else in the vicinity I go to. The store contents are average, lots and lots of processed food, junk food and sub-par vegetables and fruits.

They've got a good selection of meat, they're prices are higher than no frills but not unreasonable.
Lost 2 stars because there is a strong scent of feces in there front entrance that has been there for approximately a year. Clearly not something they have bothered to fix. Rather disgusting going to buy food and being meet with the smell of feces.

Some good deals and of course they sell Metro products for less than Metro. The irresistible key lime pie is the business and they do a pretty tasty chicken pot pie too
Clean and well stocked. Some of the fruit looked a bit manky but all in all a good shopping experience

This is a good supermarket to get good deals on groceries. It is by far the cheapest one you find on this side of North York.
Though this branch has a decent collection of all food items, there are many issues here such as in the item placement, the quality of food products (many products on deals are rotten stuff), very less no.of active checkout counters and poor knowledge of the in-house staff.
I would recommend not to visit this place on any day after 6 PM since most of the veggies are off the shelves by then and they don't restock it. The ones remaining will be on the verge of getting spoilt. Their deal items too tend to get out of stock very fast and some of them are never restocked after the first few days.
Though there are lots of areas of improvement, the staff is always friendly and helpful and there are many other stores in the same complex which makes for a fruitful visit all the time.

I know this place, since it opened in October 2000. Before, it used to be a Dominion store, later renamed Metro, that Food Basics is also a part of. I wish this store would be turned into a No Frills.

Some products are good and some not quite. Some products are expired and instead of being replaced, past expiration date are left carelessly sitting on the shelves, waiting for the unatentive consumer to buy.

The store was under numerous managers, however didn't see any improvement over years what so ever.
The cashiers go in their breaks when the line ups are big, with no consideration for the consumers, that are waiting to have their groceries scanned and cashed.

Sometimes, IMAGINE! This basic store has higher prices than Metro, which at least offers more variety and better quality of products. Many times their flier advertises a product, you go looking for it, show cashier their flier and they tell you, that the product is not on sale or was the other week etc.

I had a cashier who was trying to short change me several times, without knowing, that I can add and subtract money mentally and saw what she was trying to do.

Most of the staff are very unprofessional, with fruits and veggies there is lot of shrinkage that is passed back to consumer, once that product finds its way back to the shelves a bit lighter, from being cleaned of the bad parts due to shrinkage.

You should only buy here milk, eggs and bread. The basic products that Food Basic prides itself with, are not worth buying here. Go somewhere else and use your grocery money, in stores with quality products and staff that give a damn about the consumers. Try the Food Basics at Victoria Park and Sheppard. Way better than the one am reviewing!

Huge store.
Anyone should be able to find most household related things (laundry, cleaning, bath, and kitchen) in the store. Though they don't carry much more than that. Food and Households basic.

This is ridiculous when the location of the business is not identified. It's like asking how was the Shell gas station. Which one?

It is big place. Has pretty much everything one can think of when doing there grocery shopping. It the convenient as well and the staff is friendly and helpful too. Many will take you to the place where you can get the item you are asking them about. Really nice. The store is wide spread too.

It's good, no cheaper but not too expensive, in general thee same stuff that others supermarket but the original brand is it ok, some packages for $10, hamburger, chicken's wings, meatballs, are really good. If you want change a little bit your usually shopping go there

Inhuman behavior at the check out. Very rude attitude from a cashier when I asked for help because I had my baby with me so my hand was block.

I have been shopping here for 10 years. They have sometime good deals for vegetables also very good price for cans. I am also buying a very tasty bread there.
