Went to Food Basics for a couple of things, and found them all at great prices, plus some unexpected deals; as well as a polite cashier. High 5's

Clean store with decent produce. In these difficult times with costs going too high, I feel that you can get some good deals here

Pretty good store with wide variety of products. Can do better with international food products!

Store it self is okay, but staff there is very ignorant, I was there September 14/22 @ 7.03 pm, on counter 2 a girl was working (ashley) she was so busy to talk to guy (co workers) next to her, completely ignore to customer. O star for customer service, 4 star for product.

Friendly staff always willing to help. Reasonably priced produce compared to Sobeys and Zehrs when the produce is on sale.

While entering the store with my grandmother, she dropped her wallet and hadn't even realized by the time an employee by the name of Dylan came and found us with the wallet in hand to return it.

This is our primary grocery store.
It offers fresh bread and buns brought in from an outside bakery, an "International Foods" aisle with lots of variety, good fresh produce with local options, and the same selection of standard canned goods as the larger supermarkets.
If you want something, you'll likely find it here for a much better price.
Their meat selection, fresh and frozen, is good, and depending on your timing, they offer lamb, fresh trout, frozen goat, beef roasts, poultry, and occasionally oxtail, and tenderloin. For a AAA cut of beef, or fresh seafood you'll need to go elsewhere.

Great variety and selection of grocery food.
Flowers and lottery as well. Usually not that busy.

I love the self serve option at this location. It is quick and convenient when you o ly need to grab a couple items.

I've shop here since they opened. Self checkout is a pain because of constant issues and they have really cut back on checkout staff. My last trip here I regret. Forced to do self checkout with a very full cart.no actual humans on any cash register.zero. If I didn't really need a couple of items I'd have walked away. There is no space to self checkout unless you are are doing a light shop. Needed to wait for the attendant to override multiple times during checkout.
To top it off I should have left because the lemons and limes I got were terrible. The lemons were mostly a moldy mess when I opened the bag the next day. You have to be very careful buying produce here.this trip I was in a rush and ignored my own advice.

Surprisingly very clean, very friendly staff and nice people shopping. This has not been my experience in other food basics but props to this one!

As a plant-based shopper who lives nearby, Im often disappointed by selections. I get my Earth's Own almond milk and Silk hazlenut creamer, and some other vegan brands like Gardain and Yves. But its really limited with Beyond and Impossible brands. What is most disappointing is that Im always looking for vegan ice cream that are affordable, like Bryers or have on sale pricier ones, but havent yet had any luck. I check every time I go to this location. They also dont have much choices with vegan cheeses (other than Daiya and Earth Island). Because of this I now prefer to visit the local Walmart, Zehrs, and Sobey's instead. It's too bad because I would like to have these available at Food Basics so it can be my one stop shop thats closest to where I live. If you guys don't try to adopt and support more plant based brands sooner, which helps us consumers make better and preferably affordable decisions for the planet, then you will likely be out competed by other grocery stores that are providing green, ethical, and ecofriendly options that are also affordable.

Produces lacks but on a 100 sobeys Bill same stuff for 70 and nice staff, down to earth not mouthy kids who know nothing.

It was very busy 10 to 11. Not many ppl following the arrows.

Nice store; but unimpressed with the larger avocados I bought Sunday, had to throw them out, brown inside.
Washroom could have used cleaning bit untidy paper towel on the floor.

Food Basics always have great prices on vegetables and fruit. The store was not busy, staff very helpful and all taking safety precautions. Alcohol was available on entering and leaving the store. Two sale items were sold out and we were unable to get grapeseed oil or popcorn seasoning. All in all a quick efficient safe visit.

I haven't been here in a while because the fresh food us always very close to the best before or is all ready moldy. Not much had changed. All the red onions were mush, the salads were all expiring in a day or two. What really upset me was the person who checked me out. Said hi, then started scanning everything. They loaded everything onto two belts.asked me to pay, so I did. Then I stood there waiting for eye contact or to be asked about bags because I obviously had nothing to bag my groceries with. The person chatted with a friend after and still didn't ask me. So finally after standing there for some time trying to wait and ask politely, I asked if I could get some bags.the look I got! And then the person said, that will be 30 cents for 5 bags! And I had no cash, so I had to pay with my credit card! The person then threw the bags on the counter and talked to a co worker and then turned and left the till and didn't say anything to me as I struggled to pack up my groceries in time for the following customers. I understand that everyone has bad days. But I was having a good one until that. And I don't think I will be going back there.

It was clean and well lit. They had an employee sanitizing all the carts and offering hand sanitizer. Good selection of produce and other groceries. Will be back.

Always a good experience at food basics. Got everything I went there for and their prices were good too! They need to do more to enforce the use of face coverings though.

This is the best Food Basics store I’ve ever been in. The selection is tremendous. The staff are really friendly and terrific. It’s easy to eat healthy shopping here as the produce section is appealing and fresh so we should all be eating more plants. This store is super careful to follow all Covid-19 protocols. When you enter this store they have an attendant who offers you a freshly disinfected shopping cart. The aisles are wide and clean. The floors are clearly marked for easy social distancing. Great shopping experience unless you’re hungry and wickedly overspend as I do every week.

Wow.first time in this store for a few years.needed a few things thought I would give it a try.well last time at this store. Sherry who I assume works in the grocery dept was kind of rude and bossy.hey I dont work here I am a paying customer.knock it off!

Ive been going here for over 6 years for my groceries now. I have severe social anxiety and talking to people can be hard for me. Today my cashier named Andrew made me feel extremely uncomfortable and extremely embarrassed. I have had him probably 10 times previously and ive always been extremely nice to him and never given him an issue before but I will not going to his register ever again and i hope to not cross paths with him again. I was in line behind someone who was almost finished being rung through when i set my case of pop on the metal on the cashier line. I didnt place it on the track yet nor did i plan to, i was more than 6 feet away from the gentleman infront of me yet Andrew decided to pipe up and say "is this together? No, then wait your turn. " It was extremely rude and such an offputting tone, and as a person with social anxiety i froze and didnt reply. Then when my turn to pay came up i guess i didnt say debit fast enough so he repeated my total in a snarly voice. I payed and left. Such an unpleasant and awful experience. Im still shaken up because i was so embarrassed. Multiple people around me heard this. So uncalled for. I try to be nice and friendly because i have social anxiety and i know other could have that too but this just made my stomach sick and made me want to break down and cry. It may sound silly but it affects how i will be when socializing in the future with people. I really can't stress enough how distressing this was for me.

Cheapest prices for groceries around the area. Just keep an eye on the expiry dates. They tend to put fresher products near the back of the shelves. Have seen bread products on shelves past their expiry dates without any discount tags.

Staff amazing and super friendly. Cheap prices, been going there for years and never had any problems. The manager is super friendly

Newly renovated store. A variety of products with mediocre brand selection: Don’t look for specialty items. Lotsa parking. Tim’s in the same mall. Shop for basics here; beyond that, go elsewhere.

This is a fairly nice Food Basics. Lots of room to manoeuvre a cart around, clean, very well lit, and well maintained. The store wasn’t very busy which was nice. The parking lot is a little small but, as mentioned it wasn’t very busy so there was lots of parking available. It’s in a cozy feeling plaza with a bunch of other stores to the south. Would visit again when in the area.

WATCH OUT FOR EXPIRED FOOD! Several times there have been expired food when i purchased items for long period! Be careful for baby staff also
This sandwiches i noticed them expired for two days more than their expiry date and they were selling it in the store and they were rotten!

Every Time I go here they are out of something I need. Today was 1 LT 1% milk. Last time was whole wheat bagels.

Unfriendly staff. Not competitive in their pricing at all.

Store doesn’t price Match or take competitors coupons like every other major chain does. Cashiers stand there and watch you bag your groceries. Grumpy staff make you feel that you are bothering them when you ask questions.

If it wasn’t so close to my house I would never go there.

They are very friendly people.there always willing to help you if you can't find something. When you are ready to pay they're always respectful and always ask you how are you doing.

This is my neighborhood grocery store. They have great staff and good prices. The store is clean and the produce section was recently updated. I like it.

Probably the most afordable grocery and food store. Fresh products, good return policy, lots on sale everyday. Free parking lot, accessibility entrance, washroom (basic), helpful staff, open late 7 days a week.

Hi, requested several times for halal lamb leg's but went unheard, has to go to freshco to get the same. ️

I’m sick and tired of getting bread and it goes Mouldy way before the expiry date makes me think of these false expiry dates?

The store has many great products and prices and huge koodo the way is organized, cleaninless, and the "new look"! Just some just out of school employees could use some extra customer service training for sure. Walmart could learn from their organization and cleanliness! Huge disappointment with Walmart regarding these aspects!

Any Food Basics, ever. Prices are lower than other stores, most of the times you can find everything you need. Staff is helpful, nice and smiling, even at the end of the day.
Sometimes the store needs to be cleaned, sometimes you can't find what you really need (me, 2 weeks ago, looking for aloe leaf). And sometimes (2 times in 5 years, 2 different stores) you can find products that are expired, not for a day or two, but for 3-4 months.
