Food Basics

Store was pretty good with the products but the prices have went up so much in the last year but I would never want to go to Metro to do the same shopping because it would cost me so much more and they had pretty well everything I was looking for. I spent $270 something dollars. Store was clean I know they've been having problems with getting the produce. This time it was full. It's a shame I watched numerous people going to the reduced price on the fruit and vegetables before they go and look at the other fruit and vegetables. And watching senior citizens with nothing but reduced fruit and vegetables in there cart when they're paying for their groceries That hurts me to see that. And I don't blame food basics for it. I'm thankful for food basics because it keeps my grocery bill down.

Fruits and veggies go stale or are put stale on shelves. Very run-down dingy feeling shopping at this place. Use it as quick, last resort grocery shopping.

Clean store, can be extremely busy at times. Prices are decent, staff are generally very nice and helpful.

You may not find everything you are looking for in this store but you can find most of what you need here. Sometimes there are good sales. I like how they have self checkout. Its been a quick and easy experience, if you are short on time.

Really good variety of foods and stuff for holidays and tons of different gift cards. They also accept cash at self check-out.

Decent selection of items. Sale items tend to run out faster than most stores so it is best to go in the morning to shop. Has a self checkout area now and has much more space in the vegetable area and the checkout area since the changes were made in store.

My first visit to this store. It was clean. Organize, friendly staff. I was impressed. Good work.

Sone staff are rude.some goods there are good and close to my place so I'm just force to buy items but if treated not well as a customer by some ill never go there at all. I'm traumatized today with a rude man staff followed by a lady staff questioning me using my phone walking out.

Just a little too slow with stocking sale items. Very upsetting when this happens, happens often!

It was great l know what l needed so it only took me walked less than 10 minutes / in out. Most importantly they have a lovely gentleman at the door to ensure self distancing and control people going in.

Overall, its what you would expect. A grocery store for lower middle class families to shop at.
The ingredients and produce are usually a decent quality with fruits and meats. Isles are usually clean and not too crowded even on busy days.
Staff enforce COVID-19 rules to ensure safety and the cashiers do their job. Shout out to all the staff!
My only complaint is that sometimes the place does look a little run down and once in a blue moon the food is subpar/expired.

Excellent service at Food Basics, Park Royal Plaza every time I shop there. Staff take care of loading water cooler jugs in my cart and unloading in car with no waiting involved. I am very appreciative!

Love this store. Always a good selection, prices hard to beat, staff is friendly and throughout the pandemic I've felt incredibly safe.

Not the fanciest place, but, as the name implies, it's got the basics. It's in the middle of a mixed-income neighbourhood where plenty of people have to walk to the store, so the turn-over is good, the produce fresh, and reasonably priced. No rotten-inside-but-pretty-on-the-outside waxed apples here like at Metro or Sobey's.

Good deals, helpful cashiers and helpful workers. Mostly safe environment during this pandemic situation

Store employees are pleasant abx helpful. COVID safety measures and in place and store keeps occupancy under control. Shelves are well stocked

My go to food basics wicked deals sanitized very well.the odd lineup but never waited more than five minutes to get in and always have at least six to seven cashier working for fast exit of store

Love this place. Can come her over and over for the fresh produce, low cost poultry items, canned foods and refrigerated almond and soy milk. Not to be forgotten is the Irresistibles brand gluten free flour and pasta. The flour beats all the other GF flours out there for making pizza. Just follow the recipe on the back of the bag. They used to have a great oven ready Irresistibles GF lasagna pasta but I have not seen it in a while. Hope they bring it back soon.

This store is a little unusual from a traffic perspective. It goes from zero lineups to big crowds and back to zero in the blink of an eye several times during the after work rush hour. Best to avoid weekdays right after work for an hour or so if lineups at the cash are not your thing. Cashiers are always very pleasant.

Great store, but for some reason they still do the coin in the cart to use one. Not exactly ideal with covid19 going on.

Not nearly enough staffing, only three tills open during pandemic times. This created longer then needed lines, exposing customers to risk for longer then need be.
Baskets were dirty and appeared not to be getting cleaned.

Store staff and food selection was good. On entering the store, caution was enforced. But once inside, very few were following directional arrows through the aisles. People were not following social distancing despite covid numbers going up. Manager needs to ensure safe flow of customers in store.

Customers were shopping without wearing masks. When told the employee, no action was taken. Not safe in this covid situation. They should not allow customers who are not wearing masks or not wearing it properly. Just hanging on the neck is not the way of wearing it.

Horrible customer service & rude staff. There no sign on limited on sale items, when we goes to cashier with what we want to buy, yelling by a staff looking like manager, been told you can’t buy that many. When we said no limit sign for that he just like judge 32 or nothing? What? Excuses? This is worst Food basics staffs are unprofessional.

The store employee is very rude. When I perches, they told me that have limited, but there is no any announcement. Very bad

Tired of stores posting arrows on the floor and then the store allows customers to walk wherever they want including their own STAFF.if you're not going to monitor the arrows then remove them, its infuriating!

Simply very basic; friendly staff, reasonable prices and good variety of vegetables fruits and seafood. Intercontinental section is too scanty, needs some more variety of Indian spices and food to fulfill needs of diverse population in the area.

This is worst Food basics staffs are unprofessional, products is not fresh, sale items is not available, Products usually expired. Management sometimes not address staffs behavior the way that communicate with the customer. I have never encounter poor customer service ever, not in this times when you can take your business else where. And if you call the head office to complain it like the same kind of behavior we will get someone to call you within twenty four hours. That is not the response we the consumer looking for from the head office, I would like someone listen to my concerns and complains and fix the problem. Not at this time and era in life if you have more customer come forward to address this matter it will makes a difference rather than going to other store it is deplorable management need to fix it fast.

I shop at various places for food, some very high end whenever the need arises. I always check out Food Basics on a weekly basis. Brand names products are always bargain priced. Overall, excellent value on all items. Will continue to shop at various food outlets but for "food basics" l will always check out the excellent value on all items at Food Basics.

Metro food labels but always on sale here.

We often shop at the Metro near us but Food Basics has become the go to store, very clean tidy location, a lot of selection for common need items and very well priced.

The great part is they have high end brands from metro, fresh and ready to go.

Some locations in the past felt discounted/budget, but this place is great.

Lots and Lots of parking at this food basics, the staff seem nice and but the line ups are crazy sometimes so you might be waiting on average 5 to 6 min on random days.
