Food Basics

Well in general you get what you need. Long wait at the cash. Had to hunt to get a basket. Found one at the cashier. Carts are only available with deposited. Stuff is there - but greeting customers seems to be overrated. Not a welcoming atmosphere. A lot of times there is also a wiered smell in the store. Limits my shopping a lot to only do the necessary. Also not my first choice of grocery store - but you know, ones you are at the mall is just convenient.

Worst customer service ever. I went to buy Pogo on deal. They didn't know where they keep. After searching I told it's none on the shelves. They check back room and said No. Then requested raincheck, cashier again wanted to confirm if it's none on the shelves. Paged 5 times to call, no one call back, then she decided to give raincheck, but didn't know how to proceed, paged twice again and someone popped up, took 5 minutes to figure out product, and when I decided to leave, she is like I found it, do you want it or not (This was so rude). I left from there wasting my 30 minutes overall empty handed.

It's ok for Food Basics. My only complaint is that they run out of their specials a couple of days before the sale is over. Grrr.

Rude cashiers complaining why people are coming close to closing time right in-front of me and told her have a good night she threw my receipt and turned and left. Not one word said to me.

Store for the produce and meat section department is well organized and has room to move around in without bumping into other shoppers. Problem for me is the other isles feel way too small to navigate through especially the last isle where they keep the dairy items. The one thing I noticed is if you to go get something on sale and don't go super early it's usually gone. I've gone in and seen people buying 10+ of a item there should be a limit on the amounts you could purchase

Average grocery store. I find the mall location has less options so I prefer the one on King George. Produce is almost never fresh although I can be very picky when it comes to that

Prices suck for most part but that's same everywhere the staff are decent and store fairly clean

Prices are great, staff is friendly. Missing a few items off shelf, but otherwise well stocked.

This grocery store was so dirty. There was mouldy rotten food on a shelf, the shelves where all full on debris, there was dead flies in the freezer, a half eaten pastry on the shelf and the worst part is they put out the freezer burnt chicken and kept the fresh packages in the back. Only available upon request.

Always a good time at Food Basics. Great prices and friendly staff. Lines up are crazy during the holidays though.

Easy to find things when you shop early in morning. Ample space available closer to door in morning. Strom is brewing in background

Tried of finding poor quality of produce. Today clementines in the case at Lynden Park Mall should have been thrown out last week. So off I went to the King George location again.
Months ago I tried to take my unbagged groceries In the shopping cart because I bag them in the car to the back packing lot and I got stopped by the security outside food basics. Sorry madam they said you can't co.e this way you have to walk around the mall on the outside to your car

Mall would never call me back about this either

Excellent selection of vegetables from the local counties. Fair prices and good selection of organic food. Kind and friendly customer service.

I have always had a great time shopping at Food Basics. Pleasant helpful staff. Product displayed for easier finding and I always get a smile from staff. I recommend this store to a lot of my friends and family.

Good variety, well stocked whenever I go in. The in-store pre-packaged fruit salads can be a bit hit or miss with the quality of the fuit (more hits than misses so far for me)

My favourite place to grocery shop, they always have the beat deals in my opinion.i always happen to cash out with the young red head and isnt she always the most pleasant.always my #1 recommendation

Walk in and notice the floor look really dirty. Sad to see it like this. It be nice if they can clean it or fix it. It’s just really filthy looking

2 cashier lines open. I was in the line up a very long time.
I also wanted some pineapple juice and they were sold out.

Love the prices at Food Basics. I can not comment on meat or produce as I do not buy them here.

Very inefficient and poorly managed store. Always a lineup here with 1 or 2 cashiers open and no express line.

Love the diversity of different pantry and food items. Pricing is fair and the staff are very friendly!

Close to home so its quick and convenient for me They always have good prices that is a plus and the store is always clean.

Always good prices. Clean store with helpful staff. No need to go elsewhere and pay a lot more.

As I walked into the store I was hit with a foul stench equivalent to walking by a dumpster. My mask was no match for the putrid smell and flilthly floors. I did notice water stains in the ceiling tiles above, may be worth while to investigate if there is mold growth.

Social distancing at the checkout was an issue.customers, carts plus a sign in register at the exit/entrance other wise staff and Customers while was OK

Being a senior I take advantage of your early seniors hours.great idea.thanks. I have shopped three times in this store in the past month and have had great experience every time. The store is very well organized and monitored as per social distancing.and shoppers have no excuse for not following the rules. Your employees are fantastic. I have dealt with a few different ones but didn't get names until today. Tracey has been there each time I went and she is very pleasant and handles everything just as she should, making sure people follow the rules and helping customers get their shopping done. There is another lady there on the floor unfortunately I didn't see her today (she was there the other two days Wed April 15 and 22) so I don't know her name.she was great helping me find products I needed and not only did she tell me where to find them she went out of her way to go get them for me.great customer service.
Darsh is a very nice fellow and was great at helping me find products.
Deborah at cash was a pleasure to deal with.very positive and a joy to have her check out my groceries.
I know how hard it must be sometimes for these people to go to work and be as pleasant as they are working with the public during these terrible times. It seems people are always ready to complain if things don't go their way so I wanted to add a positive view and say GREAT WORK. Food Basics and your employees. I applaud you.

Great sales and never seem to run out of items that are on sale. Friendly staff but just need to have a few more cashier's on so it's not to long of a wait. Also maybe make the signs that say 1-8 or 1-16 items a little bigger so people who have more than that can't say the didn't see the sign

Great deals and a great selection.

Easy to get to as its on multiple bus routes and near the highway.

It can get a little messy on Friday’s during the summer as it’s a popular stop for the migrant workers.

It’s because of that though, their produce selection is top notch.

Got an ice tea less than 500ml and it cost me $3.15. The water bottles were exactly 500ml $0.50? At every other store they are around the same price at $2.00 keep this in mind when you shop there.

Not my favorite place to shop actually. Not the same layout as other stores. I guess it would be ok when you get used to it.
