Food Basics

This place is great for buying your groceries, but the produce quality definitely needs work.

Not enough cash registers open for folks who don’t want to use self-checkout (I won’t shop there for large purchases, too big of a hassle). Plus just bought a Roma pizza yesterday and it’s mouldy today

Produce goes bad quickly. Store is dirty. I only use this store for packaged good and/or produce that I can eat the same day. The prices are good - but you get what you pay for.

Employees need to pay attention to their movements when there are customers around
Today, after returning home, I found my skin scratched by the door opened by the staff

Good service and fair prices. Parking is abundant and public transit is close at hand. Occasionally there are discounted luxury goods from its affiliate Metro stores. You need a quarter to get a shopping cart.

It has all the basics at great prices. Some shelves were a bit bare but several employees were working hard restocking.

Clean and staff are very friendly and helpful had a gentleman who was stocking shelves walk all the way to the other end of the store to show me where something was.

If you agree with self check out this store is for you, I disagree with self checkout only 1 cashier I won't be back to this store

The food basic store is a great place to shop. A lot of my health food stuff I found there, the staff was also pleasant and helpful.

It was a good day inside the store did some shopping around looking for items though out and found them and payed and left. The cashier was nice and friendly.

I like it buy lots of things here you can shop. Price ok. Parking big. Display food very improving nice set up. Im will come back. Just cashier is slow

The nicest staff. Always clean in the store. I actually look forward to the friendly staff. There is a tall slim lady who works cash and she treats the customers with a lot of respect.

I was pleasantly shocked considering the covid season we are in and how close this place is to a jail. Went in with no mask (yes I'm legally exempt), The clerks that observed me were fully aware of it because none have said a word about a mask. The only thing that did was the announcement system to everyone, but I don't think the employees at this location can help control the announcements. Also, the aisles are very wide which allows those who want to be cautious to go around people much easier. And to top it all off, despite me passing a few cop cars earlier on the streets, I had NO complaint against me. I should add.the prices are not that expensive.

Well done food basics! You deserve more income as you treat all people (including those that legally cannot wear a mask) with respect.

I like food basics just today when i went to do my groceries they didnt have no bananas at all the shelf was empty lol.but other than that i like food basics just would like to see some new food products to me it seems always the same.the vegetable and fruit section i would make it more organized n i would sweep the floor and wipe down the doors some more hygiene since we r in this pandemic craziness but other than that still food basics has good prices not so bad so i give it 3 stars

They had what I needed, but having to stand in line for 10 minutes while two cashiers swept floor, couldn't they check out the few of us standing waiting. Plus they were talking more than sweeping, so sad.

Its groceries at an affordable price like you're not going to find whole foods quality kind of products but at least if you're on a budget you'll be able to feed your family.

At least it's open past 7 pm on Wednesday. Lots of products and items, very competitive pricing, even better. Ample parking. My cashier not that great, but his youth may be the reason.

It is hit or miss.sometimes there are employees there that are extremely helpful by going above and beyond and sometimes there are employees that have a sour disposition and barely want to help. In fact tonight I felt like I was bothering someone for a plastic bag.

I got robbed at knife point for all my groceries while the employees that were around at the time did nothing at all

I'm hard of hearing, and the cashier was a bit rude, when I tired to tell her I couldn't hear.

Not to busy, very conscientious about wiping carts, friendly staff. I was in and out in minutes

The fruit and vegetables are actually ripe. Shelves are always full. Lots of choice. Very clean and well organized. Great staff.

The Asian manager.guy is very discriminating while I was leaving the Asian manager said I had food in my coat. I showed that I had nothing in my coat and absolutely nothing the guy is dumb. So anybody that's a bit overweight watch out for this guy stopping you on your way out he doesn't seem to like big people

It was clean and very happy service. But did not have my hot sausage that my son love to have. Thanks for being there and stay safe all of you.

Shopped there this afternoon, half there shelves were empty. Inside freezers were dirty with broken bags on shelves and frozen food scattered inside. Didnt get half the groceries I needed because of empty shelves. Cashier never greeted me, she was more interested in chatting with another employee about other employees. She actually stopped checking my groceries so she could finish her conversation and made me wait. She didnt bother to say goodbye or have a nice day, she said nothing, just dashed my receipt on the belt and pushed my groceries down. I do not recommend this grocery, clearly customer service is not a priority here neither is stocking the shelves. 0/5.

Went shopping yesterday and was taken by surprise by the cashier who was kind and thanked me. Outside, a young man whom I brought my cart too thanked me too. Than when I said you're welcome turned around and replied: Have a great weekend. This should be something usual but this day and age, it's become rarer by the day! Congratulations Food Basics.

Place was clean. Employees were friendly, yet very professional. I was impressed by the fast friendly service.

The owner of this store is absolutely miserable! Will NEVER shop here again and now I will not shop at ANY FOOD BASICS. He is not a good community member/neighbour. Sad that he’s so petty and turned me against all Food Basics. I tend shop at places that have good community relations and are reasonable.

Not bad to shop at, some brands spent there but, cashiers are quick and polite. Whoever it was cleaning the carts, did a great job and polite. Would definitely shop here again

People still going wrong way store staff don't day anything also every Monday what is it with all the bad meat on your self

Not team players with near by business employees! Owner has forgotten how many employees are in this vicinity that will no longer be shopping there due bylaw tickets!

I went in there to get 2 things and there was a line up of about 30 people. I understand that with the virus and everything involved makes it a little more difficult but 2 cashiers. Really? I don't have time for that and I will never subject myself to a line up of more than 10 no 5 possible virus infected heathens. Nooo way!

Not a good place to shop and feel safe.
Rules are not enforced at this location during covid19 and when I personally questioned management about the line up in store waiting to cash out with only 2 cashiers working I was told that there was nothing they can do about it. Moving forward I will NO longer EVER go back to this location, even though I am a local.
I truly believe that if a grocery store cannot keep the public safe as well as their employees they should not be able to be open.
