Got chased out of their dumpsters last week. Their dumpster is around the back (parking loop). The dumpsters are filled with fresh edible foods. I got expensive cheeses at this dumpster

My local Food basics. Good selection of produce, friendly staff and plenty of underground parking.

The store could use a bit of tender loving care. Everytime I go the parking lot is littered with garbage; which makes it feel like staff don't care about the customers, community or store.

The covered parking (off Dupont) is a bit tricky. Pretty clean and organized. Prices seem a bit higher than No Frills.

I used to like shopping at this store. The Indian woman was telling the Indian security guy some things about me behind my back. The Indian guy was watching me every move I make at the self checkout place. Then he asked me if I was going to pay for the Delissio Stuffed Frozen pizza for $3.97. I said no. Then he followed me to the store after I put it back on the shelf Then he was talking to a person on his cellphone. Then after I left the store he was still watching me at the front of the store.

Like any other supermarket you gotta check the prices, right? But overall it doesn't seem so bright and clean inside, and the parking spots are very few.

Great place to do grocery shopping and close to home. Prices on items are reasonable as well.

Food basics is a brand owned by Metro Inc, a corporation that did $16.7 billion dollars in revenue in 2019 alone and $1.2 billion in income in 2020 with a net income of $797 million dollars (public info).

For the past 4 months now, the quality of the produces at this store continues to worsen on weekly bases, it’s no longer uncommon to walk into this store and find rotten produce, a large number of items sold here in the produce section is delivered frozen and left to thaw in the back before they put it out, but sometimes they don’t bother and will place frozen tomatoes and cucumbers on the shelf to thaw, something I have found a number of times in this store, and I have in fact bought frozen cucumbers from here.

The meat section is often unpleasant looking evident by color of the meat, you will be hard press to finds any chicken or meat in this store that is not about to expire within few days.

The cleanness of the store is another major issue, the conveyor belts are hardly cleaned, many times I come up to the cashier to find conveyor covered with liquid (it would take seconds for the cashier to wipe it before next customer), and the button available for customers to press and activate the conveyor is absolutely disgusting and surrounded by germs and dirt, appearance suggesting never been cleaned since store opened.

The people working there think that they are running things. I don't think you represent your business with that.

From 5 to 1 stars instantly. With groceries going up, I don't like when someone just tosses my items on the belt making the box break to the *homemade* pizza and it coming out on the belt, no apology or nothing, I didn't even get a hello back/how are you when I greeted this woman with those same words. I'm disappointed, here I am applying and killing for work and then I see people who don't even care who act like that.

I got into the condo where I'm staying in early evening & it was raining so this is the closest grocery store to where I'm staying so I got a few things her to get me going including a descent bottle of wine. I probably wouldn't doing my weekly shopping there but I could find what I needed & it was fresh, the store clean & staff friendly & helpful.

Place was actually crowded with people it's a great place to shop it's a clean Place staff is courteous friendly and we'll informative they will assist you in a very polite and mannered way one thing I didn't and don't like is I know people are trying to save money and putting the self-checkout cashier which for a lot of people is difficult to do also they have the lineup all the way to the back even on the checkouts and only one cashier there's two booths for cashiers but only one cashier working the other is closed so it's very frustrating when they have limited parking and people waiting to get in and the lineups don't move so fast now that's what's depressing about this place, in all honesty I personally believe that you know we should create jobs for our people not take it away by machines so I think that on a busy place like this they should have at least four or five cashiers available and If people are in a hurry and want to go through a little machine like an Interac machine they can do so but you know the contact with the staff and with people it's somewhat more friendly and more customer liking.

The prices are ok, but I have never managed to have a shopping cart, there are never any available and there are few cashiers.

My favourite store I can walk to it or take a bus I checked the online online flyer every week and I could get my scratch ticket I check out

Parking is easy to access and free. Inside the store is laid out well, and has most food items you need. Flyer sales draw customers but regular prices are a bit high but that’s pandemic effect. It’s pretty clean and well lit. I like the self serve cash.

Lunch time is definitely one of the best time to visit it. There were several parking spaces available and the store was not crowded at all. Perfect timing!

This location is not following COVID guidelines at all. It operates well over customer capacity with aisles and checkout lines crammed with people. Customers without masks are let in and some employees are not wearing masks. Either management is incompetent or just doesn't care about putting people's lives at risk.

I am a regular customer of this Food Basics and often see a particular employee (blonde, middle aged, female) never wearing proper PPE (mask and/or face shield). Aside from her, the rest of the employees are all extremely contentious about wearing proper PPE. It is distressing to see her disregard the safety of all customers of that location, and highly disrespectful to her fellow employees who bear the majority of risk for her reckless behaviour. I encourage management to follow up with her before she causes an outbreak.

It's a pretty new Food Basics store so it's got a lot more sparkle than most of the other ones. Absolutely huge, too. I've only been in a few times, so I can't speak for their specialty items, but they do sell beer and wine and have a parking lot. Staff are all pretty friendly, too. As with any self check out, they can be finicky unless you're grabbing one or two things, so you're probably better off waiting for a cashier if you have a bigger haul.

The store is clean, the staff is friendly & helpful. The map shows they have Western Union but it's not operational as of late.

Covered parking inside of the building. Big clean organized facility. Nice clean washroom.
Friendly professional staffing.
Good fresh produce and Groceries products.
Competitive pricing.
Also a big good Shopper Drug Mart store adjacent to this Food Basics store makes this location as unique.

0 stars! This review is for my mother who was treated like a shop lifter for checking a price on a product that she was looking for. She frequently visits this location as it is close to her and easily accessible. A few times a month doesn't spend a fortune but when you leave with 4 bags your pretty much spending $100. Was approached today by a extremely rude man. That accused her of shoplifting items she bought from another store which she had a receipt for Ignored that fact because she being a little old lady was a super dangerous thief. He probably has some sort of complex where he has to harass little old ladies! She was paraded to a cashier Insistent on the purchased items where stolen. The female cashier atleast had some common courtesy to apologize while this was happening because she used her ears to listen to reason. Nothing was taken not a single cent! After the fiasco was over. Embarrassed and shaken by this experience she didn't want to be there anymore and left instead of demanding to see the manager. Did not even get an apology from the original accuser because after puffing his detective chest out walked away from the situation. Is this how you treat your patrons! Disgusting. I feel I should also contact your head office to put in a proper complaint.

Staff have a really misconception of the mask rules thinking its law and not understanding that there are exemptions to the ordinance a law or even a provincial bylaw must have royal assent which it can't get cause it violates peoples rights. This needs to stop happening

Best Food Basics I've been to in Toronto. Bit of a pain to park but it's a clean, beautifully organized store that is always fully stocked. I don't know why other Food Basics stores don't just copy everything about this store. The other locations I've been to are generally ramshackle operations with missing merchandise - especially things on sale.

Convenient location with free parking although the garage is very small and tight to drive inside of so parking space is limited

Does what it says on the package: fulfills basic food needs.
The staff is usually great, and the store is always very clean. No issues with stock, and the prices are usually good.
It is not a place to go for abundant selection or specialized ingredients, but it's not called Food Extra after all.

Not the greatest options, produce and meats/poultry is just ok, but you have wine and beer (great is that it's not just from Ontario wineries).

Well stocked store although items on sale/discount tend to sell out very quickly. Very crowded in the peak hours and lines extend into the aisles; I recommend going on off hours if possible. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable; they're also good about wearing their masks properly. Good cleaning practices during COVID with well marked social distancing areas.

Store layout is manageable for everyone to get around. No out of stock position, fully stocked shelves. The store was really clean. Which is shocking and breath taking for a discounter grocer.

They are same as any other grocery stores. They have more options for some products compare to other smaller supermarkets. But I find at least one bruised or molded fruit every visit so be careful when you are shopping fruits here.

Small footprint, but very clean and well stocked! Although there is a limited distribution of a lot of products, it's great if you need any mainstream staples. I would call out that they seem to understaff the cashier lines to forceably try and make you use the self-checkout.

I like going here, the shopping carts are a dollar to get and there small so it really makes u think but the store is always clean and the staff are friendly and I love the the fact it’s covered parking and it’s free

This is a smaller Food Basics but it has all the essentials. And it's on my way home. I like that it has free covered parking - especially when the weather gets nasty.

The store was great when they first opened. Organic chicken, organic yogurt, great prices. Over the past year they've pulled a bait and switch, got rid of all the organic meat, no more organic yogurt, barely any organic products, and many times they are out of stock, and the prices of essentials has increased. The self checkout always malfunctions. However, the store is clean and well kept. It's good for a quick shop but not a weekly haul.

One of my favourite food basics good selecetion and fresh produce. They always seem to have the products that are on sale in stock.

The "fresh" meat selection is disgusting. They try and sell grey ground beef for half off and chicken that's been dead for way too long to be called fresh. I live right across the street and id rather walk to any other store to get meat than this one. Otherwise the store is ok.

Well stocked, clean, haven't experienced excessive line ups even at the beer checkout line. Best part is that they accept even Amex.

Store has improved since it opened and I'd go to 5 stars, once Food Basics starts selling Ontario apples. I do not want American apples.

Food always goes bad quickly. Purchased produce a few times and discovered it was rotten in the bags. Very very low quality produce, avoid as much as possible.

This is a high quality grocery pretending to be low Budget.except the prices are pretty low! This location is by far the best I've been to. And they sell beer and wine! Would be nice if they had a butcher shop.
