Very pleasant experience. Helpful staff, fresh produce, fast checkout, lots of parking. Can't complain. Plus they have Kawartha Dairy ice cream!

Update: this continues to be a good store with lower pricing than others (but their prices have gone up significantly just like any grocery store). Limited brand selection and produce can be hit or miss based on the day, but they have a convenient location and you'll likely find what you're looking for.

there shelves are always empty they have skids of
merchandise on the isle that you can’t get around
them with a buggy and there self serve scanners are the worse I ever saw.

This food basics is not too bad. I find everything I need, they normally have everything I am looking for. Good prices and not bad employees.

Cannot believe that items such as bagels, apple fritters and sliced beef was all frozen. Frozen so much that the defrosting process happens in the store. I complained to the manager and his words were "it's either I defrost them in the back or out here on the shelves, I buy everything frozen" This is not right. He pretty much told me he's been doing this forever. All I can say is that he lost my business.

This place too has these infernal self checkout machines and only one or two cashiers. People are okay if you really flag them down and do more than just make ey contact but really slow and honestly i don't blame them. Way to go for debasing customer service even more. Selection seems to be getting worse too.

It's okay for a discount store, but beware expiry dates. Several times over the past year I didn't take notice and found close-to-expiring or overdue products. Also, the redesign is fine, a little nicer to shop in, but because its a discount store (and not really any premium ones around) I'm frustrated by the lack of food choices. If you like buying good steaks, this is not the place to go. Lowered the rating. Just garbagy outside. Place is not kept tidy and is a frequent source of litter for kilometers wide.

Convenient & close to home! Staff are pleasant & the shelves are being constantly stocked. No shortage of employees. I appreciate that.

Just started shopping here. Neat clean and well priced. Hard to find Pakistani and Indian items though.

Have good variety of fresh vegetables, always have some discounted things on different days, so check the flyer and go there for best value of money

Very low quality produce, often visible signs produce is old. Worst than most other basics in Toronto.

Prices for packaged goods are not even very good. Milk, frozen fruit, etc.

I asked the young lady about rice price she can't help me I have to go to the cashier and bring the 7-8 kg bag rice to ask the price what if my 85 years old grandma asks she has to bring too? Cashier cold like Alaska didn't say hi or thank you just watching on me loooool! Dear management I don't know what kind of trainings you have for the workers but it's just doesn't work at all!

Clean, sanitized place. You can sanitize your hands right when you get inside of the building. The line up seems to go fast. The seafood is topnotch here.
The only thing they can improve in is that when they have a sale in the flyer make sure the have enough to sell the product. Buying fruit here is a hit and miss for getting none damage fruit. In the parking lot watch out there are some crazy drivers out there that don't follow the rules of the road.

Nice and very detailed store with wonderful employees and respectful staff. They have a wide selection of items to choose from and the store is very clean due to COVID-19. Love this place and would recommend anyone to come here!

Good retail grocery. Some items on sale were not available. Good free parking facility and conveniently located.

I’m just curious on what happened to the management. I recall Boriz being this stores manager around a year or so ago, now there is a new man I named Shawn. This guy looks like he wipes his behind with a rose petal each morning. Boriz was good

It's great to do shopping @ food basics prices are always in line freshness in theirs produce they have good prices very friendly and courteous staff Oh yeah speedy cashiers.

Prices are not bad depending on what you are shopping for, dairy prices are great, fruits and veggies are ok, in my opinion, could do a lot better in those 2 sections.but you have gave everything, overall, prices are great

Sometimes have big line ups outside. They need more check out lanes as there's always a long wait even in express.

The produce department needs some more fresh food during the night but it’s ok doing for most the part.the cashier who cashed me out Sunday evening is a gorgeous lady helped me bag my items when I asked and went out her way to get me a lottery ticket when she was on a cash from across the lottery area I did not remember the name clearly I believe it was with a D or a T however I used to work at a metro and I want to give a thumbs up to good customer service but please reward your employees for good customer service next time I come I will speak to the manager myself because I always have a good cashier and a good person working in the aisles for assistance when I need it thanks

Best place to buy fresh vegetables & fruits, Very nice grocery store. Everything cheap. Also can buy mama instant noodles.

Food basic was nice as always. They always used to say that merchandises always available but that doesn't happen now and specially sale items get finished and store has no idea when it would be available.

Almost everything is available here related to daily use groceries. But produce isn't that much fresh that we want. If possible try to provide us with fresh groceries and organic produce. Else everything is good.

No social distance enforced. Ppl behind me at the xpress cashier where only 2 feet apart. Ppl were walking right in front of me squeezing between me a the person in front of me. At the cashier there were ppl still bagging their groceries and cahier put my groceries right by them, meanwhile ppl behind were already paying. No distance at all.

Great store, great price, if you are a woman and like cooking alot head to basics Albion they have a very good price for tomatoes and red bell peppers

Worst place ever. They put away their produce products before the store closes. Customers waste their time going only to see employees putting the produce in the back. I get it you want to go home early, but don't start putting items away when the store is still open. It's the worst, happens always!

Greet food selection great prices. I have lived in that for 20 years where food basics is located and this store is amazing. Friendly staff too.

Food Basics on Albion Road is a grocery store that has very friendly staff and offers a clean and organized environment. Pleased to see the store offers cardboard boxes for customer use so that use of plastic shopping bags can be reduced. It's all our planet, after all.

Best value for your money. I usually go to Fortinos. After a long time I shopped here. Got walnuts, grapes, bananas, salad and few other groceries. Could not believe everything is for only $22.

Went to food basics today and my toddler had to use the bathroom. Went to take my toddler in, only to notice an overwhelming smell of urine. There was a massive puddle at least 2ft by 2ft wide on tbe floor which I assume was the source of the urine smell. The toilet seat was also soaked. We immediately got out of there.
I reported this to the nearest employee who told me that their maintenance crew comes every morning so it would not be tended to again until they came tomorrow morning. This occurred at 11am.

Really good value for money. The weekly sale is worth the drive. The store brand is good for most items. There are heavily discounted items for certain clearance products and produce. Have been shopping for years and never had anything to return. Love it!

Great place for groceries. You can find almost everything in here. This place accepts all kind of payments. It's an organized store so it's easy finding things.

Pretty cheap fruit and always fresh food. Personal needs such as soap and toothpaste is reasonably priced.

Not bad. I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and while they had most everything I had to buy more than I wanted to. This place has more variety and smaller quantity. I thought the prices were comparable. I'll go here before I go back to Wal-Mart. Clearly Wal-Mart has a bigger non-foods section. But if you want groceries I think I prefer Food Basics.

Food basics is a great store to buy your groceries. The store is always so cold to keep the produce fresh. They have great sales. I would have given 5 stars if they price matched.

Very Bad customer service. No one at service desk when I go for Returns and I have to wait for five minutes.
