Nice clean store, cashier was very patient with me because I forgot to download the app for a coupon. However I'm giving all Food Basics low ratings on account for not having self checkouts YET there are about 10 checkouts but one 3 in use! FOOD BASICS GET WITH THE PROGRAM AND GET SELF CHECKOUTS! Your Steeles and Don Mills location literally makes me wanna cry!

Well stocked and over all a clean experience. A bit small but not busy usually. Recently got a self-checkout.
The reason I am missing one star is recently after paying at self-checkout I brought bags from my which I forgot at the first place with my toddler the cashier who is not even remotely working at the self-checkout start shouting as if I am leaving without paying. This was even after after the fact that the lovely Asian lady helped me through out the self-checkout and knew that I am going to bring back my bags to pickup my paid items. It seems she is a tenured staff but she should be trained on dealing with situations like these and not shout specially when they placed another designated staff and who is upto date on who paid and who didn't. There are maybe other customers having issue with her?

Got everything I went in for! Grapes $1.88/lb. Oranges - yummy from A Africa. Great sale price! Oh, and BD cheese and KD! Clean store and we'll -stocked!

Big store. Nor busy. Lots of groceries selection. Produce are ok even meats are good. There are frozen stuff too. I also like the flowering plants here. Nice for gifting in any season. I always find good deals otherwise regular price is not that bad. Lots of parking.

I tied to buy milk today at this store at 6: 30 pm today. The price posted was $4.99 for 2L of Lactancia Milk. When I got to the cash the price came up as $5.19. The cashier at #7 said she would call for a price check but asked another cashier instead. She said the milk was not on sale. I said I would take a photo of the price tag and show her. I told to cash out the other customers so they would not have to wait. When I returned the customers were still waiting. I showed her the photos and she looked at all of them carefully. She said she had to ask her supervisor. I told to cash out the other customers and I would wait. She left. She returned and said the supervisor was coming. She finally cashed out the other customers when I asked her again. 15 minutes later I asked her when the supervisor was coming. She said she never said the supervisor was coming. Then she finally called for a price check. No one came. So I posted to Facebook. That was when a different cashier came over and said she would help me. The cashier#7 said to me "ridiculous" as I left. The other cashier looked at the photo of the price tag and cashed me. She apologized for what happened. It took 30 minutes, Facebook and a different cashier to finally get my groceries.

3.5 clean, organize and stocked, the only thing was the wait for checkout when it was mid-afternoon on a Thursday
Oct 7/2022 Friday morning and although there were only 2 checkouts, checkout was quick. Added plus is that there weren't any self checkout!

They have one product on flyer they are sold out in stock and when asking for rain check they say they don't have it in their list! Doesn't make sense and manager is also not aware of something like this.

I love this Food Basic branch its near to my place and always have a great deal. Im loving this FB

As someone living on a fixed income; I depend on the great value and low prices that I find at Food Basics. The "Selection" brand in particular which they carry, saves me a lot of money every week.

What can you say about food basic stores and other similar Canadian grocery stores - they are owned by other brand name stores to prevent competition.

This is a typical grocery store with clever pricing schemes. I find the store is a rip off when it comes to fresh produce in comparison to NoFrill and Freshco.
This particular store is very disorganized compare to other Food Basic stores. However, occasionally, food basic has good sale where you can really save money on Sale items.

It's a basic selection with basic prices using a basic shopping cart.

Really friendly and helpful staff, fresh produce and meats. Good prices.
The store is really working hard to keep supplies on their shelves, but it is all dependent on how things move with the pandemic.

Don’t be excited with sale price. It’s just a trick to sale more. For example. This chicken thighs are on sale for 1.98 per lb and 4.37 per kg. This chicken thigh is 0.567 gm. Which is half kg and 67 gm But I paid price of almost 2 kg. When I asked the cashier. She said oh it’s for something els. It’s for 2 pc thigh. Really! What does it mean… Off course trick to sale!
And also everytime I went. They ask for donation. Now this donation food basic collects. Does it really go to that people? (The needy people) And off course. Any donation that goes from food basic which is collected from people comes 10 times more on Tax return. Tired of politic every where.even with FOOD!

Literally have no one working here… only two cashiers with a line of 10+ people each… I avoid this place and hate going here.but when I need one ingredient to complete my meal and this is the closest place to me. I take my chance and go… but I always regret it! Don’t be suprised if ur waiting almost 30 mins in line to check out!

I got some good deals and service. Unfortunately, I'd say beating out "No Frills" in those two areas. As a "Weston's Fan" I hate having to report that.

Great staff, starting with the manager Rema and a young grocery clerk named Sergio. Clean and always have what I'm looking for. Variety of different foods.

Can get a variety of grocery items here to purchase. Clean supermarket. Lines to cashiers moves very fast.

Good store they still disinfect the cart handles and have a pump of it when you walk in the door, but there is always that 1 cashier who needs to find a new job. Miserable person. Otherwise very organized and clean with good stocked items

Nice place with variety of products in each section. Veggies are always fresh. Prices of some products are higher than other stores. But overall it's a good place to buy groceries.

I was followed by the lady manager while shopping, never had any interraction with the staff for over 2 years of going there, the lady blatantly followed me even though over 30 people were in the store

Very poor customer service had a female cashier #145. She acted as if she was mad that I came to her to check out. Never greeted me or said good bye. Mrs Grumpy you need to work in the back and pack groceries if you cant be polite. We all have bad days but your attitude was sour.

I am not a regular but sometimes I like to shop at this Food Basics because it is on my way to home/work. However, and that is the reason I am not a regular, despite the products on sale, everything else is more expensive than my usual grocery. Moreover, I don't find the variety I am used to. Today I went there to get lamb and beef for Easter because they were on sale. Unfortunately, there was no lamb and I got the last two trays of striploin. Apparently, Lamb never was delivered and they didn't stock up for beef. To summarize, it is a nice place, but it needs a little more to get five stars.

I called to ask if they had a specific product in stock. The guy kept me on hold for 10 mins. He then comes back and says that the product is in stock and is on sale. I drive to the store and tried to find the product, but couldn't. I asked for help from 3 different people. Finally, 20 mins later, the guy brings out the product from the back and tells me that it's not on sale. What a complete waste of time, along with highly incompetent staff to deal with. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Staff there not only polite and helpful, the sisters working there help me pick up my wallet I left at Checkout counter on the 11th Feb 2021 afternoon after I shop there

Just at the store to get toliet paper, list price was 5.97, got to the cash scanned at 13.97, called the manager John, to honor the price and he wouldn't, even showed him the tag. Really unbelievable. If you post the wrong price in the store u r suppose to honor it. Will never go back to this location again worst customer service.

Staff member by the name of Hayley is very rude and disrespectful to customers. I go in this location at least once or twice. A week and I never see her smile or friendly to anyone. In fact I have seen her talk down to other staff and she rude to the shoppers like myself. She has this really bad-attitude. I have seen her treat people from different cultures so rude and impatient. Whenever I visit the store I pray she not working because I dread seeing her unwelcoming face and having to deal with her bad attitude. This cashier needs a talking to about how to treat paying customers with respect.

Cashier was rude. Item I needed was on sale and she didn't want to assist with checking. So I left without purchasing.

I went to return an item purchased from another food basics to this location, as it was the wrong item and the cashier refused to refund or exchange the item without any reason. I then approached another cashier to ask why it was not possible and the previous cashier very rudely approached and told her not to do the refund or exchange without any reason. She was sympathetic to the case and said she was told not to so she can't do anything about it. I then went home and contacted the store to speak to the manager, was placed on hold for 15 minute's without a response. Will never be returning to this location again.

Great store, its nice and not so busy around 7pm, but in the express lane, why would this guy come up to the cashier to do a price check on the many items? I mean you couldve done a self check yourself or go to the other lane, to put the items where they belong.
Stop holding up the line from people getting their stuff checked out! Not even that, he puts his hands on his mouth and touches the items. I hope he washes his hands or sanitizer. There are people that come to your store to buy food.

Friendly staff. The ladies are kind. I enjoy having only 2 cashiers, thats how prices stay low.

It was as expected. But I will note that they need to hire a buggy person. The last 4 times I've been there the buggy corral at the entrance is empty. This was not a busy time.mid afternoon on a Monday. The cashier was very pleasant and friendly

Good place to shop. But the line up at express line was very very slow. But the other line's were much faster than the express line

Was only grabbing a handful of select items.

Wait was not unreasonably slow. Eventually the supervisor put down her cel phone and opened a third line

In my opinion this location has served the community well, with the two new high rise condos and others to be built it could use a new makeover inside.
One annoying thing is they are out of their flyer's specials early week ie strip loins steaks went in twice both times out of stock and no rain checks given.

This place is terrible and only good for quick last minute things. Their produce is bad and I would never buy their meats. Lucky if more than two registers are open on a busy day. Stay away unless you really have to go here.

Some products are expensive. Some of them are cheaper than other stores.
Products varieties are not enough.

Still selling expired (or close to expired) food at regular prices, e.g, Selection Honey Graham Wafers, 408g: ALL boxes on display expired August 25, yet there was no reduction in price. The wafers are soft and starting to taste stale. Not the first time at this store!

August 6,2019 it was in the morning. I went to get light and other staff. When I got the section of the light I ask one of the worker and I showed him my burn light to to help me get the right one. He didn’t even come to show me the right one. Then I Picked up one of these and showed him and I asked him this is the right one. Well he said maybe maybe

Fair price, lots of parking space, good staff & never been disappointed. Nonetheless, it needs improvment in including more local produce, and organic products

It's close to home. I've been coming here a long time so I know where everything is. Lots of good, free parking here in Scarborough. Sone products are cheaper than Metro, their parent grocery store. But if you're budget is tight and you don't mind bagging your own groceries, this is the place for you.
