Food Basics

It's an ok place to buy groceries. There reward program is virtually non existent. So now that I think about it I'm going to down grade them to a three star. I think we all want something closer to no frills. I have about four hundred dollars in free food coming from them. At Food Basics I might get a coupon I can use occasionally.

There is a very off-putting smell that one notices as soon as you enter the front door. Smells like there's a produce storage issue. About a month ago I spoke first with staff who said they had noticed it and then with the manager. I was told it would be looked into. A week later the smell was not as noticeable. But today, the smell was bad enough to make me cut short my shopping. I will not go back to the Fairview store.

Hands down the absolute worst produce you can find in Burlington. You'd be hard pressed to find strawberries, grapes, lettuce, cucumbers, etc.that aren't fuzzy, brown, or severely wilted. You're better off going hungry than buying any of their "food". The live-in animals seem to enjoy it though (small handful of birds and mice/rats.)

Walking in the front door there's a smell of something DEAD, likely a rat, rotting in a wall. Seems to be a recurring issue. It is a major turn off for shopping there. That said, it's inflationary prices are lower than say. Fortinos

This store definitely has a rodent problem. Every time I walk in this store, especially around the produce area, you can smell deceased rodents. Unfortunately I know this scent well as I used to work somewhere that also had pest control issues and it smelled exactly the same.

I'm at this grocery store almost daily! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and their prices/selection + are the best in town.and you can pay cash at the self-checkout and LCBO is next door

Decent prices, but don't buy bread here. They freeze everything, and sell it as "fresh". You end up with bread that has frost in the bag, and goes mouldy in a couple of days at best.

What do you say to someone with a grade3 education? Ring this up for me.
Where are the rude cows of cashiers? I guess if you stop going, things will change if you stop going for 6 mons. Self checkout! The best, not having a cow of a cashier tell me what i can and cant buy and how much, what im doing wrong. Now you have to put up with snide remarks and eyes from the do nothing employee milling around self checkout. Typical situation where you give some kind of power to someone who does not know how to use it, does not deserve. Your job is simple, take my money! That is your only job desc! If not you don't have a job, oh wait that happened. Too bad i already have been shopping elsewhere, chefs plate, amazon, with my pc card, then off to no frills or fortinos to spend points. Pretty bad when you reduce the price of TP and still no one comes.

You ask to buy a scratch ticket and they tell you to go and wait in line even though you were just at a cashier

I shop here every Saturday. Now they have taken away the baskets. Now all the carts are blocking the exit.

The staff here are pretty friendly and will help with whatever you need. They seem even happier, now that the music station in the store has updated - its awesome.

Best prices on produce and snack items for families who go through food fast and don't need things to last. Haha. Cashier Staff here are so friendly also.

If you can't trust customers at self check out and give them dirty looks after being smiled at maybe get rid of self check out. 4 pizzas, 2 frozen juice, 1.49 chips and kiwis isn't worth stealing for a mom of 2. I work in customer service and this was pathetic considering I come here weekly and spend hundreds of dollars at this location. I usually don't use self check out either but there was only 2 cashiers. I can see why the lady with the glossy lips and braids was wearing no name tag, manager was also quick to get off the phone. If you don't like your jobs, you know what you can do! This was around 530-545pm Jan 26.
