Food Basics

One of the best grocery chains. The only thing is most of the stuff gets out of stock. Pharmacy is also available here. I found this store the biggest of all. There is self checkout as well which saves lot of time.

They are selling Indian expired cookies! What happens in Toronto! I bought it today (May 28,2022).

Parking lot is terrible now, food basics is generally terrible for abusive pricing practices at all stores. Cashiers always deserve to be seated. Every store should encourage it for staff. Cashiers take a lot of abuse they don't deserve.

Clean/ exactly what you expect from a food basics; but it is the duller/ oldest looking location I've been to (or even think exists)

A decent grocery chain. One of the last remaining food basics in the GTA. Clean and friendly staff.

So we frequent this grocery store for the fresh veggies and great prices.however the people at the door are watching movies and ignoring your needs. They can at least say good morning and help sanitize etc.that's my only complaint - once inside.all good

Wasn’t too busy there. They had some great sales, and the quality of the fruits that were on sale were good (particularly the blueberries and the mangoes). Cashier was friendly and complemented my shirt. Positive experience.

The store is fairly big and always stocked with items on special offer. The parking lot is huge and always there is a room to park.

There are several employees that either don't wear their masks at all or wear them improperly. There has already been a Covid 19 case at this location, and the employees are putting everyone at risk. I've been coming here every Tuesday morning since the pandemic started, and nothing has changed.

Very disappointed with the customer service I asked a stocker about a product and was told if it's not there then they didn't have it he didn't even check for the product and was rude about it.

I went there expecting to find something to eat, like sushi or natural sandwiches, but they didn't sell this kind of food. But I bought a very delicious apple pie for $1,90. So it wasn't all bad.

Very economic rate comparing to other super markets, specially for food, chocolate collection is not more. Fantastic offers for cakes.

It’s a great store though it’s very long line up. It’s good for the younger people but not for older though. So I would just like to make a suggestion that if you can make a separate line up for the people who can’t afford to wait for long time (older people or differently able people) If you would take this step it would be great.

Been there twice in the last three weeks and walked out both times. 3 checkouts open and line up is over halfway around the store. I bet the line today was 30 to 40 minutes even though I only had three items. I dont recommended wasting your time abs standing in a crowded line

The line up for this store is very inconvenient. Goes around the whole store because they have one line for all the cashiers.

Stop by here when I need something quick as it’s close by to my house. Good sales. Mostly clean and organized. I encountered a staff that was at the door recently giving out hand sanitizer. She held it out to me, I very politely declined and she very rudely rolled her eyes at me and gestured for me to hold out my hand and said “you have to”. I took the hand sanitizer.
A few days later I went back and a couple more times after this, and I was asked very politely if I wanted hand sanitizer, not that “I have to” and one time I declined, and I was allowed in.
So what happened to the “You have to”?

As lightly as I could put it, all the employee's here are the worst. Not helpful, rude, entitled, and not following any covid protocols.

I found the store clean. There is someone at the door offering sanitizer as well as wiping down carts which I can say I really appreciate. Where I feel this store missed the mark for me in terms of safety was the cashiers. My cashier was not wearing a mask which I found very off-putting. Although there is a partial plexiglass barrier, being indoors I would the cashier to wear a mask. I expected better given the state of things. I can't say that I would be returning as safety is my number one priority at this time.

Great Covid-19 protocols, clean store, organized and friendly staff. Found our new weekly grocery store at this location. I wish other Food Basics could learn lessons from this store during this recent pandemic and for general operations. If you are a fan of Food Basics, this is the store to go to. Worth the drive for me!

Well stocked with good selection of fresh produce. Store is kept clean and tidy. Major improvements in the past year.

Today evening I went to this food basics. I was looking for paper towel which I found for a great price. I went to the express line number 1 where there was a guy in front of me who took 2 packages of paper towel. I also took 2 because it didn’t say there was a limit. The guy bought 2. When I went to buy two the girl there said you can only buy 1. I told her the guy in front of me bought 2. She kept saying it’s the rules to buy 1 but I wanna know why she let him buy 2. Someone explain it tho. I didn’t wanna cause a seen so I bought 1 and left. Horrible customer service also. I ask the staff there to tell me where things are and they always ignore me or and say the wrong aisle please do your jobs properly. Your getting paid so at least earn the pay. I also work minimum wage but I’m always nice to the customer and I don’t leave until they’re fully satisfied, happy and smiling. I don’t recommend you to go here. Rude absolutely RUDE. If there was 0 stars I would do it but I gave a 1 and it’s not even deserved. 0/5. Pope absolutely POOR.

Nice place to buy fresh vegetables in reasonable price. Staff is good too. They always take precautions for COVID-19 because they have placed a person who make sure every person and their cart get sanitize before they come into store. Keep going guys.

They have a friendly covid greeter pumping sanitizer into your hands as you enter so you don't have to touch a sanitizer pump yourself. This alone is worth 4 stars.

Time of Day was 1pm on Wednesday, seemed like there was a good amount of people inside considering it's pandemic time. There's also a drive through window for prescriptions, which makes a lot of sense.

Never have enough products when sales are on, their cashiers are rude they're alot of ppl walking around with their masks around their necks instead oron their face. (during Covid)

1. Great place for locals for hunting groceries.
2. Most of the staff are relatives (Just a inside info) and most of them are nice people.
3. Fresh produce most of the time.
4. A-lot of parking space. (You may find difficulties in rush hours tho)

6. As all food basics, you need a 25c coin to use a cart.
7. Subways, tim hortons and wendy’s are really close if you are feeling bit hungry.

I like food basic and the products they carry. The store is kept clean and limited people are allowed in at a time. Only thing I dont like is that customers are too close to each other when packing groceries. There should be at least one belt in between customers not side by side

Convenient location, friendly sales guys and reasonable stock availability. Prices are same as other locations.

There produce is not always fresh n most items outofstock. Special of potatoes n onions started Thursday n by 1pm all gone. Popular items in the international section takes too long to restock. Usually have to go to store on Kingston Rd. I use their pharmacy often.

Wow, first time in a grocery store in Canada I see a extremely professional, smiling, knowledgeable person at the cashier (I believe her name is Natisha), after scanning all the items I found out that each type of grocery were almost ready to be packed, dairy section, frozen section, bread section, it’s so impressive, some grocery it take you forever to pack your grocery some time the cashier throw the item with careless, but not with this young lady.

Was at this location on july 25/20.they have mandatory mask policy, so why is that cashiers are wearing their mask covering their mouth only, other workers walking around using mask as neck protectors, basket cleaners the same, mask covering mouth only, come on management, if you got a policy in place, please enforce it, for the safety of everyone, its the law.

It was not too busy this Monday morning. Good service. Selection was not stocked as well as you might like. Overall it's a good grocery, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

This is a fantastic run grocery store, Management cares about his staff and his customers. Alway stocked with fresh produce and meat section awesome, always organized and full, numerous times i have told the employee, she does a fantastic job. Front end staff are fantastic, friendly and fast. During this time with covid they are spot on.if I could give this team 10 star's i would, keep up the great job serving us, serving us great products and being so very clean that really matters to us customers.thank you and stay safe

When I used to live in Toronto in my first home, I would always go to Food Basics in Ellesmere and Neilson since it only takes five minutes! Great place for grocery shopping! Well-stocked! Very spacious and tidy! Great architecture! Organized! Reasonable prices! Helpful employees! Great service!

I was so impressed coming here during this time of the year, sanitize all the food carts, social distancing maintained, better prices for fresh fruits veges

It's a good grocery store and caters to all the daily needs. Prices are reasonable and great service.
