Their produce section isn't as big as some of the other grocery stores in the area but what they carry are really fresh

This has happened at this location several times before. Went in on the start of the flyer specials (Thursday's) only to find again, delivery expected later. Why not order product the day before so at least it's in the house. Store manager is USELESS.

That was the first and the last time I am shopping at this location! They put the only one and retired cashier and it took her forever to scan all the items. She can barely stand on her feet and didn't know how to scan the gift cards. Next person in line was concerned and it was disappointed experience for all.

Pretty disappointing location. I’ve come here multiple times when they’ve advertised items in the flyer but they never carry those items in store. Plus the staff here tend to be pretty rude as well. Better drive somewhere else

I can't afford to go to Loblaws so I wait for the Loblaws second harvest food truck to make their leftover deliveries to Food Basics. I bring my T&T organic bags in and load up. My teeth are starting to feel a bit loose.

Getting a few groceries when it's not busy and catching a sunset simultaneously is a definite win. Picking out a few deals on lower prices is always good too, especially with inflated pricing skyrocketing these days.

So annoyed with them advertising cooked chicken, so you drive there, shop and then find they don't have any (despite the sign). More mad at myself for falling for this twice! Next time straight to Longos.

There is a cashier that went out of her way to help a lady in front of me her name is Anusha, she is a real asset to the company. Well done Anusha! I hope I spelled it right.

I would much rather the self-checkout staff here profile me as an Asian man according to correctly offensive stereotypes and deliberately pay attention to the content of my self-checkout order - in its entirety - than to have them do so, but only to rather insinuate to me after that I would be so criminal as to steal plastic bags from Food Basics.

After spending $50 in groceries, no less! Never mind the fact that I am also a regular customer at this location. And as a final kick in the head, I also was not even offered an apology for the remark. Thanks Karen.

Is your staff so entitled that they feel that they can blatantly insult your customers publicly with no recourse, to their actions?

I was very pleased last Saturday morning to purchase a few items! The customer service was excellent! The young chap that helped me locate an item to the lovely young lady that served me at checkout, I was most pleased. I will be returning. I am a satisfied customer!

Good place for shopping, very clean and they are one of the few places where I see someone actively, consistently cleaning high touch surfaces. So that's really quite reassuring. Helpful staff!

Fresh produce, great customer service and easy to find what you are looking for. Well maintained store.

Most of the workers are very helpful. The supply to demand on the SPECIALS are not very balanced so it's best to get here in Thursdays when the specials are changed.

My favourite store in the area. Most of the staff are nice/helpful compared to the super rude ones at no frills. If you're lucky you can get good stuff on quick sale - produce for 1.29 or other food at 40 - 50% off regular price.

Dirty looking store, masks aren't worn properly. Management is a nightmare. There's expired meats and cheeses out often. They don't even carry meat pies and other classic dinner items. They don't have cauliflower most of the time. Their produce looks terrible, borderline rotting and it isn't even cheap. Selection brand items are great though but I'd much rather go to metro for the selection items and proper looking vegetables.

This location is not busy even on a Saturday afternoon/evening so I like to shop here. The produce/product selection is decent.

I haven't been to a Food Basics in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised. Competitive prices, clean and well organized, and friendly staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this location to fellow shoppers.

Good prices but didn't have the special item I went there for. Their self checkout was very difficult and not user friendly. Especially when the attendant keeps disappearing. They should design theirs like Loblaws. I guess it's the price for savings.

Produce fresher than my local Freshco & prices are similar. Store is bright, clean + well organized. Always able to find help from employees in the store & they go out of their way to help. Always enjoy my grocery shopping visits here.

It takes one terrible interaction to ruin it for a lifetime. I previously rated this place very well. However today I came in for a return - my first ever in ten years shopping here.

The cashier at the front was very pleasant yet the manager was terribly rude. Every attempt was made to make a very simple issue seem much larger to fix.

The return policy can simply be explained, there is no need to be condescending or demeaning.

I imagine maybe she was just having a bad day; but don't feel it's right to be taken out on the customer.

One of the best managed food basics I've been to. Typically well stocked, clean and pleasant staff.

Always come to this location because it's so convenient with a Dollarama next to it
The price is so good and convenience with almost things I can think of. They also accept price matching, and they have a lot of great deals.

Only 2 reasons why I gave 4/5 stars:
- Bananas are always green, never yellow
- no points/rewards system

The produce is hit or miss in my experience, though overall, it's a good store with lots of variety for it's size. Staff is very friendly. Prices are competitive. Quite a few gluten free options, including different flours which is important to those of us with Celiac or Sensivity to gluten.

Selection is always weirdly limited and sales still out pretty quickly. If you're lucky enough to hit the store when they have inventory then some good deals but otherwise you're better served elsewhere. They also have problems with mold on their strawberries every time I've been there the past month.

Give me a Rain Check to apeze me last week but basically tell me they will never have it back in stock. False advertising!

I shop here quite a bit but have to always go somewhere else for fresh meat. I bought chicken and ground beef a few times and once I opened the package at home they smelled awful and rotten

Clean and friendly and available staff. The produce isn't as great as other chain grocery stores. Well stocked and lots of variety and availability of sale items. Checkout is usually relatively fast.

Sometimes their deals are really good.but then you go to the produce section and you dont feel like buying any of it.cuz the selection is bad.rotten strawberries.broken watermelon just to name a few. Definitely wont go back for fresh produce.

The best prices in the area. My go to for everything. Lots of international food choices fresh or frozen. I love the Swiss Cheese (I think it's Irrestibles). Best price for toilet tissue (their brand). Great sales in the meat department. No better place to shop in Markham and I have two other grocery stores closer that I could go to!

Came here on Monday early afternoon (middle of their sale week) and some of the sale items were nearly out (e.g, took the last two cartons of the chocolate milk, they had only about 20 cans of the tomato paste left and eggs were almost gone.) However they also had an unadvertised sale (1kg frozen peas) for $1.99. They still had enough for me to get their sale items and maybe they could still restock? But glad I didn't come any later or may have missed out on the deals I went there for.
