Wish I had an option to put more negative review. Customer service Zero, management is terrible don't know how to talk to a customer. Supervisor (girl) is so rude. I was asking her something eventually she was really aggressive I asked her why.she told a customer just take your stuff and leave. I will encourage people not to use this location so they can start valuing there customers again.

My mistake walked in food basic
took bread and went to automatic payment system machine.
Money stucked inside more than 30 min standing there asked me several times.where you put the money.before someone come they guy standing there steven dandiyal watching everything and said dont said anything.what is my right as a customer i know very well just provide that person proper training how to speak up with customer
i called there some lady transfer my call to someone to someone bottom line story she teaching customer os wrong my 5$ still with you without buy anything.

Not the cleanest Food Basics.cashier was rude no greeting, did not clean belt between orders. Noticed slight improvement. Self checkout, the employee was rude walked away 3 times had to repeat question over and over. Terrible service.

Nice place to shop in the neighborhood. Very busy with only cash register open. Long line up. Waiting time 15 minutes.
Now with the Self Check out, still Food BASICS busy.

I stumbled upon this store by accident, and I’m so happy that I did. Clean, a TON of selection, organic, odd items, odd brands etc. BEER! The prices remind me of pre-inflation times. I both interacted with staff and overheard them while they worked and although they were probably miserable because working sucks, they were friendly, laughing and helpful. I’m pretty sure I’m going to exclusively shop here and I regret overseeing this store based on pre- conceived notions of Food Basics. 14/10

I got all the stuff I needed and that was on sale. The store is very clean and the staff are very nice and helpful too.

Great location but awful store. Needs cleaning also more staff. Produce are always old and empty. Most of the ailes were empty and impossible to get any help

This food basics by far has gone down hill, I experienced the worst display in customer service; there were only 2 cashiers open as they were trying to force everyone else to go to self checkout which clearly isn’t an acceptable method because technology is a bound failure, which means there was 3 employees helping everyone with self check out. Such a flawed method, there were
No managers around to rectify the chaos, just an overall bad experience and it isn’t the first time! Very unsatisfied big time, if I could give this review a negative 1 I would have.

I could spend a whole day in here, buying fresh pasta, great quality sea food and meat, fruits, cheese and dairy.
What's not to love here?

Generous selection of produce and vegan/gluten products, middle eastern and southeast Asian goods as well. Curries, cooking sauces, rice wraps, paratha, red pepper jelly, liquor, beer, noodles and lactose free ice cream! Everything you need and more. Self checkout recently made available.

You only shop here if you have too.

Meat is trash, fridges are rusty and warm.

Worst food basics in East York.

Huge location! Now that is was renovated it looks much more nicer! Great international food selection!

Need to reduce unnecessary things and foods so many variety, people goes to important foods like oil and eggs and they see a lot of variety of oils finally they buy the wrong one.

I love shopping at this location because it has a parking lot where I can always have a parking space and don't need to fight for one. The groceries are fresh and always mostly everything is in stock. The Customer Service on the other hand is like night and day to the other locations I have been, on Laird, Gerrard Square etc. This is the ONLY location where customer service is not provided. Everyone always seems to be busier then usual to be bother with your questions of can you direct me, do you offer, or help the carts are stuck together and I can't get one. The customers have to come to your assistance. So this location, is grocery with no help for me whenever I know I need something specific and not to ask for help! Sad but real!

Good deals, clean store lots of varieties of fresh food and NOW they have self checkout counters.

They now have self check out service machines. I'm not a fan but may help to speed things along?
I try not to shop on busy days.

The prices use to be good at first but now prices are very high, no good deals on items.
Racks are not managed and filled in proper time.
Cashier are very less, resulting in long wait times in que's. 2/10 rating.

Tried to buy beer, was sent from cashier to cashier. Will not line up 3 times. Make up your mind if you want to sell alcohol.

The produce is either freshhhh or LITERALLY ROTTING. The workers are over worked and underpaid.

Every time they ask you for donations, it shouldn't be a direct question to force customers, you just have to pass the message on posters or products like if you buy two, we send 0.5 dollars to an association, don't ask the customer every time.

Lack of freshness in produce and variety of produce. It’s always stale, old mouldy stock and when it does look nice and you buy it, It tastes so bad almost as if it was artificially created.

Quick and easy checkout. I found everything I was looking for and they even had beer so grabbed a can for dinner. Definitely will go back especially since this is the closest one to Yonge and Eglinton.

Very large area for grocery, I think this is a large food basic in Toronto area. If you need anything in discount price then this is a right place of variety items. We can find many asian foods too like varieties of rice in cheap prices, frozen paratha, naan etc.

Fresh beautiful fruits and vegetable on displayed with a marked sense of appeal in relation to sourrounding average income neighborhood.

"Price is a leverage of supply and demand and leftovers or get rid of stock storage"
With regard to cleanliness and house keeping,
The staff is conscious and mindful in general.
It would be a wise thing to go around and capture the attractive or fascinating deals one may come across which could be special.

An early morning visit will benefit the customer,
Avoid disappointment of product getting exhausted and rush builtup during the later part of the day.

No decision should be made on an empty shopping bag.

I had an issue with a refund around closing time and the closing manger tonight corrected the issue and assured me he will speak to the cashier. He later helped me out my groceries in my car. Never have I experienced such level of kindness at a discount store.

I rate this place a three star because a lot of the food needs to be eaten same day. Its on the edge of expiry.

They have terrible produce and meat/fish here! But terrific products made and packaged and delivered by other, fair to very good companies!

Not a very good Food Basics store. It is always super busy and hardly 2-3 checkouts are open resulting in long lines of people. The store is not kept clean. I even saw one employee without a mask.

This grocery store has a great produce selection. Nice variety of fresh fruit and vegetables at very reasonable prices with some good sale prices too. The store has a great selection of international foods as well. I've always found everything I needed at this store. Oh and the staff are friendly and helpful too.

I find everything I want except for when they have sales. If you Dont go by Thursday mornings, Dont expect to find sale items in the evenings.

Staff are not helpful and rude bordering on arrogant. The stock/shelf staff routinely block the aisles and won't move for customers allowing them to shop. If you ask them to move they become quite annoyed. I give a one star as the cashiers are quite efficient and polite. I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere

If you're looking for rice and a wide variety of it.this is the store for you. The lighting in the store is bright, I asked a worker for directions to a product and they dropped what they were doing to assist. If you're looking for something more ethnic in your grocery list there is a store called Iqbal'd which is about a 2 minute drive away. Also there is a Costco across the street. This Food Basics is part of a man and there is plenty of parking available, during the Pandemic lots of stores are doing one megaline though here it appears each till has it's individual line for a check out.

It's always a pleasure shopping there. The staff are wonderful. Plus I find everything I need and it's always clean

This store was busy and we waiting 10 minutes to get in. The store was full of products and the service was good.

No line ups or covid security guards. Great place to shop. No toilet paper or paper towels though. Learn to use the 3 sea shells.

I went to this food basic yesterday and I was sooo disappointed how the customer service is very bad when Im heading to the counter to pay not even greetings from the counter didn’t do it like I’d rather wish to have a self serve payment or called kiosks to pay my groceries but unfortunately it doesn’t exist yet I don’t mind about that my concern is my receipt So the guy who scanned my items he didn’t gave my receipts I don’t know what happened but I was packing all my groceries and I always does this like once I see my receipts I will put it away and put it in my bag but until I finish packing all my groceries I didn’t see any receipts so I ask the guy and said he don’t have it I ask him if he can re print it, I even check all my bags and I know I don’t have pockets and I don’t see the receipts so he said he can’t print it so he told me to go to customer service and I was waiting someone to come to help me just to get my receipt so after 5 minutes the supervisor went to talk to me and he said he will send me the receipts I gave him my email and he even ask my phone number coz he told me once he sent it he will call me which is I’m waiting for call didnt even call but until now I didn’t see anything in my email and no call at all. 137 dollars is not joke if I only spend like 20 dollars I don’t mind throwing the receipts but I have to keep my receipts for my budgeting book I’m soooo disappointed I also work in a customer service I know how hard the job in a customer service but I made sure that the customer will have satisfaction and customer is the reason why you get paid

Always seems to be not to busy in there. In out quickly most times. Makes covid-19 shopping a little more bearable.

The Selection brand is a good cheap alternative. Place is a little dirty but it’s located in a ghetto neighborhood so can’t really complain there. Located in East York Town Centre which is very convenient.

Food Basics is owned by Metro. Their fresh fruits and vegies, as well as meat can be a hit or miss; sometimes good and sometimes bad. The rest is pretty good.

Fantastic place to shop I needed help with a item. And aksed for help and the store manager went up and beyond to help me out fantastic customer service.

If you come from a 3rd World country, this is the perfect supermarket. Unfortunately, many of us don't.

After going through the messy aisles, I found most of what I came for and that’s a bonus. Waited in line patiently on a busy Saturday about 530. Suddenly a cashier opened and I asked her ‘taking the next person in line? ’ No such luck. Instead she took the person behind me, while there were 2 more persons ahead of me in the line I was in. Actually glad I didn’t go through her line. The cashier I end up getting was friendly quick and professional.

This store has a large variety of all the essential things. The cashiers are working fast so you won't wait long before being served.

The cashier Sehar S is stuck up and very rude. I’ve always seen her socialize with her co workers rather than assist customers. She also tries to rush you out. Over crowded location and you have people pushing you here and there very bad staff aren’t friendly here at all

on, or best before, it been going on for a while. Scheduling for cashiers can be an

Very limited stock on shelves they do not wear masks behind the counter and so could get germs on your boxes and other food

I hate that this store doesn’t have express checkouts, sometimes you wait 15-20 minutes to just buy one item!

Food for reasonable prices. Produce could be fresher (doesn't last very long) so be picky with your fruits and veggies.

Dirty unfriendly staff and no one has nannies here. They hit u with there cart and look the other way

Not too busy today at 1: 30 pm. Plenty of stock except toilet paper, paper towel and Kleenex. Well staffed today. Cashiers look a bit tired and exhausted

I don't usually get my meat here but save a lot on the rest of my groceries, especially produce and dairy. It's always busy when I go after work but the checkouts move pretty fast. It was a madhouse last night because everyone was panicking buying supplies!

Good deals. In a convinient plaza with a small mall. Dollarama, LCBO, groceries, pizza and wings spots plus other restaurants, TD bank and more.

Yikes, this place was very dirty and deserved some cleaning, children putting random stuff everywhere, making it hard to find the price of something.

Very very untidy store.staff are ignorant. No info on items and simply say no if they don't know they have the item or not. I found what i was looking for in the store which they didn't have any idea. Low stock, irregularities, dirty shelves and floor. Management is just awful. 0 stars.

Ideal place to get your day to day groceries. The produce is very fresh and not costly as well. Located at a very convenient East York Mall with ample parking spaces. During the harsh weather days, You can walk-in from the mall directly into the Food basics store.

I prefer No Frills and Walmart and all stores that price match. Walmart is the best they match prices with almost all store prices

Very bad one person work in food basic on cashier i dont know his name but wearing ring in ear curly hair slim man. Very very bad person i ever seen. He is giving very bad word to cutomer.very rooud not a diciplined person he suppossed not work to be in such a good buisness place. I tried to find out his name no body give me his name. & he turned back his name plate he was so bad behaviour cashier or worker i ever sern in food basic.
