The grumpy Filipino lady that’s usually at cash 2 needs another position that doesn’t deal with people. She has no sense in customer service at all. I bought cherry tomatoes from the night before and they were rotten at the bottom. I came in this morning to exchange it and she has an attitude and tells me why didn’t I check it. Well why is your store selling rotten produce? You signed up for this job, so do your work!

Their produce has been declining now the last few months.
Awful Fruit and veggies. Rotting tomatoes re frozen stuff.
This place lost its greatness. Very dirty. Bathroom is horrbily dirty.

Good store but stock on well moving stuff is not maintained I find, maybe I'm wrong. Also staffing at peak times is an issue, why have six lanes if never ever utilized. Also price matching why is this an issue? Why cant you price match, I'd the some kind of store poverty that is making it an impossibility, I would do ALL my shopping here if price matching was in place here.

I often go there for my groceries. Quality is good, staff is rude and prices are normally higher when you compare them with other local major grocery stores.

Good prices, but the check out has barley any cashiers and i bought strawberries here that were all mouldy in between the fruit.

It was good did some grocery. There was some tomatoes on special which is a good price it comes in a box

What kind of grocery store doesn’t have bags. Nor did they have boxes.
Will never return to this location.
Feels a bit scummy to force people to buy your reusable bags. This location clearly needs new ownership as every other food basics I’ve been to had bags if you forgot the reusable ones.

Cashier's are always miserable. It certainly doesn't seem like they enjoy their jobs there. Only once have I had a super friendly cashier, teenage girl (she must have been new), and I was so shocked to see a smile and a positive helpful attitude I just and to tell her she was doing an amazing job and not to lose that spirt. I try not to shop here if I don't have to. I definitely avoid this store just based on how unhappy they all are in their jobs.

Very good deals. Clean and safe.
Regular visitor here for shopping necessary groceries. Never disappointed.
Only one downside.no beer sold in stores

Great experience. Aisle ways are wide enough for a few customers. Clerk "122" was super friendly, greeted me as I started to put my items on the belt

Good food, and selection, doesn't have to be expensive. I'm vegetarian so can't speak for the meat.

Had a bad experience with returning. The cashier told me they don’t accept returning during covid with a relatively careless attitude. I had to point out the reason why i wanted to return since they’ve charged me more than the flyer price. At the end, i got the price adjusted, but it’s not a good shopping experience.

I usually only pick up stuff that are in the flyer, as whenever I purchased fruits and vegetables they went bad faster 3/4 went into the green bin.

Had a bad experience with a 'temporary store manager'. When I asked HER questions SHE repeatedly responded SHE does not know and SHE can't really help as she just a temporary covering another manager. Surely the company hired a wrong individual as I believe many other more qualified staff can become a better store manager.

Great prices. Excelente prices in food and vegetables. The parking lot is big. The store has a renovation areas. They added more pay your own cash. The store has public washroom.
Now the store open a fast check express for the costumers excelent international products the store in inside the plaza with others stores like bank, pizza, ice cream around.
The store is follow the COVID 19 health protocol. You have to wear mask all the time.
Every week they have differents products on sale.
Be aware that sometimes the store is busy and you have to stay in line.

Food Basics is a great place to work and shop. They offer the best prices in town and are not usually out of needed items. I highly recommend shopping here.

I do like going here but.i HATE how they say "no we do not match prices, these are our prices and that's it" also how when you walk in the front door on a very cold day their cashiers might as well wear a parka so dam cold for them they don't even have heaters beside them too keep them warm they suck for their employees

Food Basics is food basic. Produce is fresh. Many of the items are less expensive. Great value on ice cream and other frozen products.

They had a lot of items i needed and opened up more check out lanes as it got busy. Good shopping experience today.

Wouldn't be the first place I go to looking for fresh produce but definitely a place to get some cheap budget friendly eats!

Don't shop here! They don't stock their own sale product on a saturday morning! Manager didn't seem to care about my complaint. I called a few hours later and was told they now had the item i wanted and would put some out. So i went in - and no, they didn't have any! What a waste of my time! Not going back!

Friendly and helpful staff. I didn't know the Store employee was on the break. But he still manage to get someone to answer my question. Good job. Cheers

Too the review below, and too all customers that shop at food basics, yes there is a new scanning code of conduct! Head office makes the rules that we have to put up. I wasn’t rude or unprofessional. I told you I understood where you coming from but there wasn’t much I could do or I would have lost my job if I don’t follow the rules

Prices are alright. The amount of expired food you find in this store is crazy. I had purchased expired food multiple times and finally had my last straw the other day. I called and spoke to the manager and told him my experience. He said "okay, great thanks for letting me know! " And was obviously going to end the call. I then explained that I am frustrated by this as someone can get really sick eating expired dairy and he said he has been experiencing this as he has new staff.

That is not an excuse. You will literally find decomposing fruit and veggies. Meat that expires in 2 days that is not reduced pricing. Be exceptionally careful with their dairy products. I have purchased expired cheese in multiple forms, expired yogurt, and expired almond milk.

I will be shopping elsewhere in the new year. I have been shopping here for many years and am done with the way this place is managed. I am tired of shopping taking additional time because I have to make sure the cottage cheese I am buying isn't two weeks past expiration.

You might want to pick up some Pepto or some gravol when you shop here.

Just went to food basics to rent a carpet cleaner due to a flood in my office. No one at customer service could help me and I was told I had to wait 10 minutes until the office staff finished counting money. I really don’t understand this kind of service. I drove out of my way and went to metro

They recently changed their policy on scanned items 2 days ago but this was not brought to the customers attention at all. I was purchasing an item that scanned incorrectly and instead of getting the item for free they are telling me they no longer honour this system. I spoke to a manager named Breanne who was very rude and unprofessional about the situation. Very disappointed and will not be shopping at this location any longer.

I don't like their prices and the way how to set their weekly offers. While they're the most shop close to me, I've been their just for few times. Instead I use to drive my way to No frills or Real C S S.

It is like every other food basics. Reasonable prices with average quality. Enough parking spot in this branch.

I cant believe the shelves were just about empty on a busy Friday night. Why cant you restock things a bit faster

Nice and efficient place I should say. They don't always have great offers on the stuff you are looking for, but just buy whatever has a good deal. It is not that costly, but it's more expensive than a typical Walmart or No Frills.

Billing has always been super fast (I have visited only during weekdays though). It's not overly crowded either.

If the staff were nicer I'd give them 5 stars. Excellent place to find a wide variety of ethnic foods and ingredients.

This is the first time at this location, and it is quite clean and organized, found everything I wanted and more. I'm definitely returning to this location.

Horrible experience here, staff was super rude a manager named Trevor in particular was cussing and distespectful when asked for help. Store is dirty and nothing is stocked, good luck getting help, go to no frills or metro in milton much better than this place.

5's for staff best staff ever but they run out of milk and cream too often switched for this reason to no frills

Overall, great value for your shopping dollars - it's not a flagship store by any means, but is, for the most part, well stocked and the staff are courteous - you'll find everything you'd expect from a box store here (keep in mind, no full serve deli or meat) - store hours are reasonable too
