Always our go to Chinese restaurant! Pick up or delivery, the food is always delicious, fresh and hot!

The food here is surprisingly delicious. What surprised me the most is the quality, and they even have quite a bit of signature Chinese food dish that is hard to find at most Chinese restautants. 5/5!

Very Disappointed, rice was overcooked so it mushy, spring roll was not cooked the inside was grossly undercooked, and the chicken balls were not crispy.
I remember years ago forbidden city was the place to go, I also remember the awards for 2 years in row for being the best restaurant in Hamilton,

The noodle for low mein is a soba noodle which was not expected. The chicken balls are as soft as donuts.

If you're looking for the worst chicken balls come here.
Also - very expensive - 13 dollars per chicken ball order. Which is outrageous for how bad they are.

Don't order chicken balls, unless you want them to taste like soft timbits

I can't say enough about Forbidden City, Hamilton. Food is always excellent, hot and delicious, portions are amazing for the price. Staff are always very nice, and Annie is the sweetest lady, always making sure that the customers are taken care of. I don't order my Chinese Food from any other place. Thank you Annie for being who you are, YOU are the BEST!

Seem to forget to give condiments like no plum sauce or no soya sauce or no mustard. In the last year they have forgotten all 3 condiments requests THREE different orders Times.
Complained and the lady said we give u extra next time
WOW there won’t ever be a next time
Oh also another time they fogot the dry noodles
Out of 10 times they are running 60. %. They just forgot

Worst food in the downtown core. I paid $60.00 for take for two people, the price didn’t bother me. First off the tip option when you order online was taken automatically and you have delete this manually, tips are for good service and not automatic! The food was bad! Chicken balls that tasted like flour with a very small amount of chicken, fried rice that was not real fried rice lol and next to no sauce for my chicken balls! Egg rolls with next to nothing in them…and the inside of the restaurant was dingy and dirty! And of course a tip option in the debit machine for a pick up order.tipping is for good service! Not an automatic thing! Your food was awful! Never again, and I live just up the street!

Tasted really good but I got food poisoning. Had to throw out my whole order because I didn’t know which dish it was that made me sick.

Ive never had lemon chicken with a corn meal breading. NOT impressed.also when did the prices go up? I paid $27. - for 2 things.lemon chicken & rice.wont be going back.

I am so disappointed. Haven’t ordered from here in a while and didn’t realize it was a new owner. The egg rolls are a fraction of the size they used to be. Chicken balls taste like dough. Definitely not worth the cost anymore

Chicken balls tasted like dough, better after microwaving. Bean sprouts in the chicken fried rice adding no flavor to it. Orange Beef so tough my cat had a hard time chewing it.

Totally disgusted with my take order. The spring rolls tasted bad, the deep fried shrimp was just soaked in Grease, the rice well that was okay but the broccoli and beef looked and tasted like it was cooked in the microwave.

If I could give zero I would. Ordered at 4pm for pick up at 7. Arrived at 7: 20 as they told me to wait. Said it wasn’t ready so I crossed the street back home. Went back 20 minutes later and they said oh we didn’t put the order in. How is that possible when I called ahead to place an order? !

The only thing that this place needs is new seating but the food was amazing. Great flavor and quality food. I will definitely be back here to eat.

Be careful practically everything has shrimp in it. Even things like their spring rolls.

Egg rolls under cooked AND I found a black feather in one. Fried rice wasn’t even fried, had zero flavour. Sesame chicken we threw out because it tasted like a flavourless gelatinous mess. I called the restaurant to make a complaint and the person I spoke to just said “oh I’m so sorry”…. This food literally made me sick to my stomach.
Do yourself a favour and save yourself the trouble. I’d give them zero stars if it was possible.

I like the food but the customer service is awful. Was told on the website that if I had a $50 order delivery would be free but was charged $7 for delivery and a $5 tip was also placed on my order. Called the place to try and discuss it and was told it’s not their fault, it’s “the owners” so when I was put on the phone with the owner and told him my problem he said “ok bye” and promptly hung up on me. This used to be my choice of place to go after south sea closed but I will not be returning for the way I was spoken to. I don’t recommend this place unless you have money to spare to be scammed and ripped off for.

Always friendly staff (husband and wife normally) they offer larger portions with their own delivery (not through apps). Support that way if you can, it's so worth it with the bigger portions.

Food is always consistent. We normally get as much as we can and live off of it till the next time we order:)

Ordered my usual this time the sweet and sour sauce had a strong smell of ammonia, like when u wash ur floor with more bleach to water you get that chemical smell stuck in your sinuses. Ya that's exactly what it smelled like. Also found black hair in my deep fried shrimp as soon as I broke open the batter to get to the shrimp. Called restaurant ensured her (annie) that the sauce was smelling like chemicals and a hair was found (definitely the cooks), she denied it and go interuptive and argumebtuve so I hung up I live across the street and didnt want to drag no one. So I took my $75 loss.

Until today I didn't feel like I had a solid, local, go-to Americanized Chinese restaurant - I am now going to consider Forbidden City that place.

My husband and I were really impressed with the food - both the flavours and how everything was cooked. The shrimp and veggies were perfectly cooked, the sesame chicken was crispy, and the Singapore noodles had the perfect spicy kick (and a huge serving!). The pork buns and ginger beef were delicious.

We really, really enjoyed our dinner and have very happy bellies. We will definitely be back

Food was quick to deliver and they have all the typical food you’d be looking for… but the quality of the food was mediocre at best. The general chow was chewy and tasted like fried seafood. The chicken balls were over breaded and you had to eat through a 2 inches of thick batter. Everything was beyond greasy. Overall I wouldn’t order from here again

Ordered lunch online and when inpicked up of all of a sudden when i asked for chopstick, the lady said there’s none available! She said she just doing her job but no chopstick available:) Horrible experience! Poor CHINESE RESTAURANT! Can’t provide ONe chopstick for customer

Absolutely the most inept service and staff I've ever encountered in my lifetime of ordering Chinese food. Buy the ingredients, make your own food and spare yourself the pain of dealing with these people.

My favourite Chinese restaurant in the city. We’ve eaten here over a hundred times with only one or two misfires that I can recall. The staff are always very helpful and generous.

Totally disappointed. This used to be a great place. My food all tasted like the deep fryer. The honey garlic ribs were so tough a dog wouldn't be able to chew. I ate some of it as it was my dinner and paid for it at three in the morning running to the bathroom. I asked for half my money back and I would return the food and was refused. Disgusting.

Annie and her family make the best food at great prices. So beautiful and friendly! Highly recommend!
