We love galaxy cinema! The staff are so kind and it's always a clean fun experience! Thank you!
26 July 2023 7:48
Not a bass theatre, friendly staff, however sometimes the theatre looks run down, could be cleaner and more eye appealing.
04 January 2022 14:12
Great time to see a movie, as it never that busy! And they also sell beer and have a small arcade for the kid's!
04 January 2022 12:40
Clean but lacking modern seating and the screen was quite dirty or worn. Both adversely affected our " enjoyment " of Dune.
03 January 2022 4:40
I go there all the time it’s generally fairly friendly staff and they are keeping up with their Covid protocols fairly well and the popcorn is always delicious
31 December 2021 10:37
The staff are fine and very friendly. The projection is terrible: under-lighting films, muddy colour, eye-melting twitchy 3D and poor focus. Their new AVX might be better, but why are you paying extra for competent projection?

EDIT: I have now seen Dune on AVX and on a standard screen at Galaxy. I haven't had a chance to compare in a long time. The AVX was decent, even good-like a good rep cinema. The standard showing was shamefully terrible. All the dark scenes were a monochrome grey mud. This is the theatre being cheap, or the chain.

The one star is for the staff, who are nice folks doing their best in the current situation.

Disappointed to see that the theater that we were in had not been cleaned from previous showing! Still many empty popcorn bags and drink cups!
24 October 2021 5:37
Nice cinema but the seats are a little uncomfortable. If your from the surrounding lindsay area and don't mind a little drive I would recommend the oshawa odeon theater just for the reclining leather seats. Overall everything else in this theater was up to par and had great service.
15 October 2021 13:22
Almost good enough for 5 stars. I went there recently to see a movie and everything went pretty well.

My only personal issue isn't regarding this location alone but the policy itself of Cineplex to require alcohol to have to be opened by them when purchased. The experience of paying $10 for a tallboy is much worse when I also can't wait to open in once I sit down.
12 October 2021 14:19
Went to see F9 with my kids and the staff are NOT following covid rules they posted. We had to pre-pick our seats to ensure social distancing and the staff let the people around us move around so we didn't have the space we were ensured we have.so why make everyone pre-pick seats? UGH.
12 October 2021 7:51
Friendly staff, and clean and organized facility. Felt very comfortable and safe inside the theater during my visit tonight!
28 September 2021 4:18
Went to want Shang-chi, the audio system was not the best, Still enjoyed the movie and the customer service.
23 September 2021 21:21
Concession stand is waaaaaay overpriced with no variety. They were out of stock on most things. The free parking machine to validate parking was broken and when we enquired about it, they said it had been broken for a week, and what did we want them to do about it? Otherwise, the staff that directed us to our theatre was really nice and the social distancing was good with great movie and thankfully they did have quieter sound since the theaters are at half capacity. There wasn't much staff working there though. As the only theatre in town, we will return, but won't go to the concession stand and will know not to park in the underground parking as the free parking machine is broken and no one cares.

Movies during COVID are pretty great. They automatically book the seats around you off when you buy your tickets, so it feels totally safe and is WAY better than pre-pandemic when you could be jammed in next to anyone. The popcorn was spot on, it was great to be back and we're going again tonight!
20 September 2021 11:04
Was here for the first time since covid started, was great, the reclining seats were good and the APX theater was amazing.
17 September 2021 3:00
It was our first outing since Covid started and we had tons of fun. The movie was great the theater was clean then we played at the arcade and had a blast. Sanitizer stations were available and masks were mandatory.
17 August 2021 19:48
So good to be back! So good to be out and doing what we always did! Being back after so long brings back so many memories, since it's opening way back 2000. I still remember my first movie here. 'The Perfect Storm'. Now this was way back when Lansdowne Place still had it's movie theater, and movies cost far less there. But the Galaxy was the new player in town with a monster venue, that everyone wanted to check out.

Some changes over the years inside with the layout of the main lobby, as well as additions such as the Ultra AVX theather, and restaurant changes. But it still has a bit of that same feel when you came the very first time.

Only dissapointment is, the arcade is a shadow of it's former self. Back in the day it was a true arcade with lot's of fun and varied games, and overall just a great hangout spot on it's own.
Now it's mostly just chance/midway style games. That give you a chance at winning a prize instead of a fun gaming expirience.

More and more are coming back to the theater. So it's promising to see the place will hopefully, and eventually one day get back to the way it was.
27 September 2019 9:27
Decent theatre with enough screens for varied showings. Lack of free parking (like most other theatres) makes it lose a star.
05 September 2019 22:46
Great service. The games in the arcade were fun but some were out of order. Only one theater is upgraded though.
04 September 2019 11:23
I love going here, with someone else or with kids.lots of screen options, underground parking so nice in winter, cool in summer. Lots of options at the arcade to keep kids (or adult kids!) occupied until their show starts.lots of food/drink options nearby, staff are good, either get tickets onli e before or at the kiosk onsite - recommended!
02 September 2019 19:07
The washrooms are always pretty disgusting. I get that this is mostly due to unruly guests, but as it is, I typically check two or three stalls before finding one that's useable. Otherwise the staff are really friendly and helpful and the rest of the theatre is clean and well kept.
02 September 2019 17:00
All kids love the thrill of going to a movie hall and my kids are no different- they were really excited.
The plex itself is situated at downtown with parking attached in the complex.
They also have a whole lot of things for kids to play outside the hall.
Not to mention food and drinks which drive children crazy.
The screen is a decent size and seating capacity is around 300 I would say. It was neat and clean and the ambience was inviting.
Ticket costs are cheaper on Tuesday as compared to other days - just to give you an idea we paid 36 cad for 4 people.
31 August 2019 17:27
Passable theatre. Decently clean but could use some upgraded seats in the smaller theatres.

Main issues
1. Theatre lighting is quite low. This could be improved
2. Staff attitude (management direction) is focussed on being cheap which can ruin the experience.a. Received feedback that topping off popcorn is discouraged due to "health reasons". Completely makes zero sense.b. Hotdog buns all seem stale - likely because they pull them from the freezer (explained by a staff member who mentioned that they could not change the buns as all the rest were still frozen). For $4 a hotdog, fresh delivery of buns should be a given. Receiving a stale bun is just sad.

On the positive side, the staff is trained to be friendly and accommodating within the rules set by management. A better focus on quality should be a management goal.
30 August 2019 19:30
Considering that for the EXACT SAME GENERAL ADMISSION PRICE Belleville has the upgraded seats and Kingston has incredible seats, I'm disappointed. They need to upgrade or drop their prices.
28 August 2019 4:17
Love this Galaxy Cinema. It is so up-to-date with technology. We have always loved the Lion King movie. The remake was good but some of the humorous part was removed. Still prefer the original animation!
23 August 2019 15:16
Went to see The Kitchen yesterday, fantastic movie.

The service at this cinema was good though the butter station did not have any butter to put on my popcorn.

Upon entering the movie theatre, I almost tripped up the stairs because the lighting in the theatre was so dim - and this was at least 15 minutes before the pre-show commercials even came on. Being in my third trimester of pregnancy, you can see how this was a concern for me, especially already not being able to see my feet. Haha

The seats were okay, not the most comfortable but not horrible. They were a bit small compared to what I am used to at Landmarks, bigger city Cineplex, etc.

Overall, it was a good experience though some work is needed.
19 August 2019 23:24
Decent theater, could use some upgrades. Be ready to be gouged and have your bank account emptied. Prices are criminal and out of control.
18 August 2019 0:52
I just wish that they would advertise their movies on the billboard outside again. So much more convenient.
14 August 2019 20:16
Nice theatre.for those that want them, they have a small selection of beer and wines available for purchase.
05 August 2019 5:03
Took my senior Dad for is first Theatre movie in over a decade.was a great experience! We came with his grandkids & watched Ferdinand
04 August 2019 23:57
They honestly have the best popcorn ive ever had in my life. I go once a week to buy it even if im not watching a movie. I find sometimes the theatre floor is dirty but no one cleans up after themselves so its understandable. My only complaint is inconsistency with sound. Some screening rooms are really quiet and you can hear parts from other movies across the hall (not the avx room just regular screening rooms)
04 August 2019 17:20
Great theatre. Couldn't figure out the parking quick enough though. Parked on street. If there actually isn't a parking lot. I don't like that.all theatres need a parking lot lol
02 August 2019 10:39
It a Big Picture Show Place, that has a licence to steal your money.
A soft drink and popcorn over $15
29 July 2019 17:41
Nice place, but I have come to this conclusion. Unless it is a big blockbuster that needs a large screen, AVX or 3D, I am quite satisfied to watch from home. Picture and sound is great and NOBODY Is Crinkling their popcorn bag in my ear. Non Stop. Surely at the price you pay for 2 cents worth of popcorn kernels, they could develop a popcorn bag that doesn't make noise or at least reduced. Same with cellophane packaging. It should not be allowed. Anyway, my rant. Other than that, fine! Other than the people who incessantly talk throughout the whole movie. And don't dare say anything to them. They may be packing (not really, its Canada)
28 July 2019 14:52
There are only a few good cinema rooms there. All the other are too small, or you can hear noises from other movies.
The cheap industrial food and popcorn are is sooooo expensive.
For the price of 1 popcorn 1 pop and 1 mnms you can watch 2 movies!
Too expensive.
23 July 2019 9:09
Sorry for our loud kids, and kudos to the extremely patient staff. I promise to try to see Aladdin and leave the kids with Grandma.
12 July 2019 13:11
They should renovate like the other smaller town Cineplex's and put in recliners. That would be so nice.
26 June 2019 21:31
This theatre is much like the films I seem to see with my son: big, noisy and dumb. I still give it 5 because that's what cinema is today and sometimes that's exactly what I need. I'll be seeing Godzilla by the way.
23 June 2019 16:36
Often crowded. Always overpriced. Commercials at something I paid for? ! Poor contrast ratio. The picture definition on any new TV is far superior to anything I've seen in a movie theater. If you want big, a cheap video projector will get you the same or better image quality.
People talk through movies, cough on you, krinkle wrappers, look at their phones. I get the feeling nobody really wants to be there, they just don't want to be left out of the water cooler chat on Monday. Cinema is dead! Long live the cinema! Would have given only 1 star, but they let you butter your own popcorn.
23 June 2019 10:55
Don't use their website to check for movie showtimes, call in, the times on the site aren't alway accurate.
21 June 2019 23:08
Some kids in front of me constantly on their phones.
Prices are high.but seats are ok. Fairly clean, good sound.
15 June 2019 5:08
My fiance and I have made a point of seeing all of the Marvel movies here in 3D. There's a parking structure with an elevator right up to the theatre. The food is decent and there's an arcade to pass the time until your movie starts. The only complaint I have is that they put an end to the free refills.

I really wish Disney hadn't decided to chibi the cup toppers, but I can't blame Galaxy for that.
