I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep. The hotel's location was perfect, with easy access to nearby attractions and restaurants. The on-site restaurant served delicious food. Overall, the service, facilities, and location of this hotel made my stay truly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The spa is closed. And they still charge full price. Had to listen to construction people working outside our room at 8 a.m.

We booked on Expedia and we were looking forward to the spa. Within 2 mins of booking, I get an email from the hotel stating that the booking was non refundable and the spa is closed due to staffing. Come to find out, the spa has been closed since covid. When you go to the hotels website, it states that the spa is closed due to renovations. NO renovations were taking place at all. We reserved a king suite on the 3rd floor. When we arrived, we were told that room was not available, although, I paid for it.
The owners son proceeded to give us room 505, and the view outside your room is a rooftop of the next building. Obviously, we were upset and the other man, Martin, gave us room 112, which faces that waterfront. We were appreciative of that. However, upon entering the room, the jacuzzi tub is right there, across from the bed. Normally, this would be fine, except that it was all carpeted in the room. The musty smell was overwhelming due to the carpet being soaked repeatedly from the tub. They really need to put some money into these rooms and get rid of the carpet and change the tile.
The bathroom mirror was filthy, there was a crack in the bathroom window, so you can’t lock it, so overall, not worth the $700 we paid for 2 nights.
We got a coupon for breakfast for both days. The breakfast was horrible. The young lady that served us this morning, should not be a server. We waited for 10 mins for cream for our coffee this morning. I finally got up and asked the other server for cream. The home fried potatoes were raw and disgusting. The toast was cold and there was so much butter on it it looked like mayonnaise. I asked for fresh toast and it took her so long to come back, we left after we eat out mediocre eggs. Super disappointed in this whole experience.

This was a really pleasant stay and the view was gorgeous! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. There was a confusion with my booking, and they did their best to resolve the issue and give us a room we were happy with.
Thank you for the lovely experience. We hope to be back and miss the beautiful view already!
I would recommend booking the water facing rooms. I have attached an image of the view from the room!

Great location and service from the staff. Rooms were very nice but one blanket in the room and falling apart which left stuff all over the place. Rooms are updated but seems to be quick renovations rather than a full overhaul. Regardless of the small issues it was a great stop for an visit and would definitely be back

Inadequate pricing. Two stars just for the location. Would not recommend staying here - rooms are dirty and urgently need renovation. Spa does not work. Restaurant has half of what’s listed for breakfast. See pictures for reference.

Went to the resturant the food was okay. I wouldn't waste my time going there. The pinocalada was the worst, Ceasars wrap tasteless and the pizza was okay. Wouldn't go back a second time.

The lobby was the first impression, the carpet was definitely in need of replacement, probably due to covid some things have been put off and they are catching up. This is a very old Inn, has been here a long time. They appear to be upgrading. Our room was small, definitely had been renovated, clean and neat. The queen size bed was not, it was a standard, but front desk assured us otherwise, we did not agree. We had a drink in the evening on their outside patio deck great view of the St Lawrence. The service was excellent our server was very attentive with a cute smile. Not sure if we would come back.

The Gananoque Inn and Spa was likely once a grand location and destination, but has fallen to a woeful state of disrepair and management apathy.
The online pictures and description seem to promise a step back in time to a facility steeped in history and charm but sadly offered only disappointment.
The price point we paid did not even approach good value for money.
From the sullen concierge and her indifference to my arrival, to the shabby vintage offerings of the sad room. Musty smelling and worn. Carpet so dirty my white socks turned grey. Cracked paint. Mold around the tub. A room detached from this century and detached from the Inn itself. Located in a roadside motel like setting across a parking lot
There is no spa any longer. The main dining room has been mothballed.
The sad dead eyes of the taxidermied fish in the breakfast room say it all.
Once lively, and now stagnant.
And a warning to those booking through 3rd party services such as Booking com etc, the concierge said to us that the Inn regularly assigns lesser quality rooms to these guests as policy. Huh? She really said this. You are effectively downgraded.
Avoid the Gananoque Inn. There are plenty of other options in this lovely town.

Really nice room, great service, and a beautiful waterfront view. The restaurant "Musky Jake's" attached to it was spot on, as well. Great food, excellent service, and pleasant atmosphere.

Badly run Will never come back

We have been visiting the gananoque inn since 2001 in order to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It has been deteriorating as time goes on. Now, it’s new ownership and it seems that customer service and overall attention to detail has gone out the window.
We arrived early and went to reception to see if we could park the car in their parking lot and go for a boat cruise. We were met by Lucia who by the way has bad customer service and a real bad attitude. She has no business being at reception. We announced to her we were early and wanted to check to see if the rooms were ready. She laughed out loud in a sarcastic manner and told us to come back at 3pm. We understand that check in is at 3pm, however we travel quite a bit and most of the time are able to get the rooms a bit early or at the very least be offered to store luggage. My expectation was to be told in a polite manner that rooms were not ready, and that we were welcomed to have lunch at their restaurant, not be received by bad attitude.
After checking in at 3pm of course, we received a waterfront room which by the way keeps getting more and more expensive and not worth the price paid. The room smelled moldy maybe due to carpet being old and a bit gross. Bed and pillows are uncomfortable and a bit old. The water tap drips and can not close properly, made constant noise through the night.
Breakfast is included with the stay. We arrived at the restaurant and were not served until almost an hour had passed waiting to eat. Totally unacceptable. We were better off going across the street and paying for breakfast.
After breakfast. We arrived to our room to find the cleaning lady had put garbage bags from other rooms in front of our door.
The only redeeming feature at this hotel now is the scenery and beauty of the lake. It saddens me and my family but maybe it’s time to say goodbye to this spot. Maybe we can have new memories at a place where they appreciate our patronage.

Location is everything. Staff very friendly. The facility is showing its age. Bathroom needs replacing the public toilet was not cleaned (10: 30 am). Carpet needs replacing.

When you can say that the breakfast was the best part of your stay-it certainly says alot.
This is the first time that I ever cut a stay short. It was supposed to be a relaxing time away.
There were so many issues and the rate charged was way too high for the product. Very overpriced
Some of the annoyances included:
Work tools all over the place (pic can be provided), there was one tiny mirror in a corner/could easily miss it, the taps in the bathroom sink turned on and off in the opposite direction than usual In North America (thought at first that there was no hot water) the peephole was suitable for someone 5’10 or taller-shorter people would have to stand on chair (why not place it lower-than taller
people could bend over) and finally when I decided to watch TV one evening-I couldn’t find the TV show listing page. Called front desk and was told that the cable company they used did not have that feature. So they went very cheap with that also.
Finally, one afternoon Ii decided to have a break and read in the room. All I heard was drilling and power tools
The rates should have been 1/2 of what they were.

Spent 2 nights. Renovated rooms are comfortable. Impressed with USB and power outlets everywhere for modern travel. Walk to local theatre and lakeside park. Walk to boat tours as well. Great full breakfast included with room.

No elevators, but it looks like they are aware of reviews.

We booked for the location, and read the reviews later. We have a baby who’s a crawler, and got scared by all the dirty, sticky carpet reviews. To our surprise the room on the 3rd floor seemed like it was newly renovated/refreshed. The carpet seemed new.

Cleaning/vacuuming in the common areas/hallways can be improved. I can’t speak for the other rooms, but if you can overlook those things… it’s a nice place to stay in. It has charm and is in a walkable area. Can’t beat the view.

Also, breakfast was included. It was great, although it took A WHILE so plan wisely. We had to be out to be on the cruise, but they were nice enough to let us take it on the go.

Such a nice restaurant to sit outside on a gorgeous day. I had the steak wrap and not being a huge steak fan I give it a 10. Delicious. Our server was so full of life. She made me smile today!

Although very quiet in February, service was excellent, food excellent and condition of room in great shape and very clean. The inn is certainly dated but has a very nostalgic feel in a amazing setting. We purchased a overnight couples spa and meal package and feel value was excellent. Front counter staff friendly and accommodating. A definite thank you to April. Our server at muskie jakes, she went above and beyond to make our dinner and drinks special and romantic for us!

Went on December 3rd for the steak special.
Asked for medium rare came over done.
The waitress was very good and brought me another steak which was just full if fat and grizzle.
Our waitress was terrific!
We have gone for other specials that were great but tonight was disappointing.

Great place to stay for a few days. Cozy with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. Beautiful views. Tidy rooms and the complimentary breakfasts were great. Thanks Paula and Lori!

Not too happy with our visit this week. My fish was burned. Moms steak ordered medium rare was burned and dry. Our friends steaks were ordered well done and arrived rare. The horseradish sauce that was on the menu never did arrive after asking multiple times. We had an error on the bill. We were at first the only patrons in the restaurant. I can understand when it it busy things are going to happen but it was definitely not busy. The cook should have come out and acknowledged our concerns or the restaurant manager. The server said she was informing both. I guess they don't think that local customers are worth looking after. We patronize a local restaurant every Friday evening. We may have to take Muskie Jakes out of rotation.

The service is very good but I had fish and chips and the fish has a VERY thick coating and the fries are not fresh cut like they used to be but instead frozen. I know the new owners never offered fresh cut fries but the previous owner used to offer fresh cut fries. I am from the Maritimes so I do know fish and chips very well. Most people I know like a thinner crisper coating on their fish, what I ate here the batter was SO thick it takes away from the taste of the fish. I have eaten fish and chips my entire like and I am almost 60 now. When you order fish and chips you want frozen fries or fresh cut fries?

Gananoque Inn is definitely haunted, but in a good, charming kind of way. Our room definitely showed its age but that's to be expected given that you book for the experience of staying in a super old Inn to hopefully see some ghosts. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and we found the antique furniture very endearing.

This Place truly was exactly what I needed when I arrived.their service was impeccable and the staff friendly and helpful. Paula you Rock. I rested and reset my weary body.which was so good I invited more to do the Same.it was in Need of obvious repairs and did have visual mold and spider's and cobwebs.which I hold cleaning staff responsible for as they would see it an can report to proper avenues or LITERALLY CLEAN IT UP.their JOB. I was Cheap and affordable and I've paid more for Way WAY worse. I would definitely bring my Friends and Family back here. I would however be picky on the room I was rented

We checked in on Aug 3 for a 2 night stay, however, only stayed 1 night. Very overpriced for the accommodation you get. Our room in the Annex was damp & reeked of mold & mildew. I coughed all night. The bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been washed in ages & was sticky. We were well aware that this was a vintage hotel but it is very poorly maintained. I would suggest they up their game if they want to command these high prices.

Smelled moldy inside; wobbly tables outside. Staff was confused - to put it kindly. Very limited menu choices. Had a reservation (for a birthday) ; they had it wrong and immediately informed us the kitchen was slow! We left.

We were married at The Gananoque Inn four years ago (2015) and the service was impeccable. Today, my husband and I went with our toddlers to celebrate our anniversary with a lunch in the pub. Upon entering we were told it was full (though half of the restaurant had the tables removed and it was empty) and it would be a long wait. We decided to leave and walk the grounds for a few minutes with our children. Upon leaving the building we were chased down the road by the parking attendant and yelled at on the street to move our truck from the almost empty parking lot. Upon moving our truck my husband called the inn to speak with a manager who then proceeded to argue and yell at him regarding their parking rules and regulations.

I will NEVER again recommend the inn or their services.

The rear balcony/deck is a beautiful place to have a meal.
We would have rated it even higher save for the very grumpy staff member who greeted us at the front entrance.

We arrived on August 3,2019 to an expensive, supposed “suite” which so reeked of mold and mildew that it took my breath away. The rude receptionist informed us that the health department had just inspected the “cottage” last week (I wonder why?), and that there were no other rooms available. It was a three day holiday weekend. Gananoque was fully booked except for 3 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express for $499.00 each. Was this for real? Yes, and there were no rooms available within a 100 mile radius. Then, the rude receptionist informed us that the owners were unavailable, but, she, graciously, offered that we would not be charged for the mildew and mold infested cottage. How gracious of her! Today, I look at my credit card bill and just guess what I found? I found a charge for ~$300.00 from the Gananoque Inn.
Fellow travelers, please be forewarned and avoid this dump at all cost. We had to drive all the way to Montreal (our destination) and were lucky to get a decent hotel room at 11: 00 pm. Now I am waiting for a long apology and a $300 gift certificate to Roots. I won’t hold my breath.

The Watermark restaurant is an excellent spot to have a nice dinner overlooking the water in Gananoque. Was very happy with the restaurant service and experience. Staying at the hotel was another story. Very noisy people lingering in the halls outside rooms kept us awake most of the night.

The Inn Is in a good location, but that's about it.
The stench that welcomes you when entering the lobby area quickly gives you a reality check.
The rooms are dirty, crammed, and dated. The carpet running throughout the property and in the rooms looks dated, and dirty. Facilities are nonexistent, the only thing they keep reminding you about is the tip. How about reasonably pay employees, renovate the structure from the ground up and focus on providing a great experience to the guests instead?

Went there for the ambience. The weather was good so thought we could enjoy some food on the patio. The food was horrible. Out of all that was ordered none was tolerable. The staff was good and friendly. 2 stars just for the staff and ambience. Dont go there for food.

This was my first visit here and I did like it! I love seeing historical buildings and to learn the history long established communities. This community has a number of old buildings like this one.

Inside they have a wall displayed with information about the history of the location the building is on.

The staff are friendly and accommodating. My room was spacious and clean. The other room we booked was a bit stuffy.

The food was wonderful. It is walking distance to anything you need. I'm going to go there again! I hear it's nicer in the winter.

Ok I guess for a three star hotel, but it could be cleaner and better maintained. It really is starting to show its age. The staff are all lovely, from the front desk to the cleaners to the restaurant wait staff. To note that this hotel does not have an elevator but does have a fellow who is more than happy to carry your bags both up and down the stairs. The location really can’t be beat!

This was our 3rd time staying here & our last. It is very run down. We stayed in 1 of the cottages by the water. Breakfast was not good & dining room not open. They charged us full rate. Such a disappointment. We should have been told it was not open when we booked. We will be staying at the Glen House in the future.

We were put in the Annex were net offered a cheaper rate and the hotel was locked at 9.30pm
When we stayed previous we had a fully cooked breakfast this time it was a continental one. Very disappointed
