I have been going to this restaurant for past 20 years, and this is the first time I encountered a negative experience. The person at the counter (on December 6,2023 in the evening) was very rude and sacarstic towards customers. He has to be trained on how to be polite and treat the customers well, if not I am sure Gaza will definitely lose its long standing customers like me for sure. I am writing this comment not with the intention of ruining Gaza's reputation that they have built upon over the past two to three decades but to take necessary steps to provide effective training on customer service to their employees who are the first point of contact with the customers.

Disappointing Experience

I recently ordered food from Gasa restaurant and my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite placing a phone call for a simple order, I had to wait a minimum of 10 minutes for my food to be ready, which was quite frustrating. The front door was also difficult to open, adding to the inconvenience.

Moreover, I've encountered short hair in my food on multiple occasions, suggesting a lack of proper hygiene practices in the kitchen. It's concerning to observe that the kitchen staff is not using hair nets. Unfortunately, the poor customer service and hygiene issues have left me with a negative impression of Gasa restaurant.

Tamil Eelam style Chilli chicken kothu roti, chilli chicken biriyani, mutton, chicken and everything is just a flavour explosion! Amazing food! They make it to order, so you have to wait a bit, but it’s well worth it. Great representation of Tamil Eelam food!

My daughter loves their rolls! I told the owner that she’s a picky eater and he gave her extra at no charge. It wasn’t about the cost but the gesture of the owner that made our experience so good. People charge for paper bags these days, says a lot about the owner and the love he puts into his restaurant and customers. Thank you!

Ordered mutton biriyani and chilli chicken kothu from there and those were just wow? ! They deserve 5 star!

Great place for spicy sri Lankan food. We ordered the chicken kottu roti. Nice spicy and flavorful.

Lots of cheap snacks from mutton roll to samosa to dosa.

A chaotic little family operation with impressive output. The counter serves mutton rolls (IMHO best item/money) and other Sri Lankan staples. All the food has that distinctive smoky, pervasive spice throughout. Love it!

Food is okay as usual, but that lady in the front always in a bad mood, when you call the store she doesn’t answer you properly, when you go in person she doesn’t respond properly, need a replacement I guess

Its not what it used to be old days Gasa when it comes to koththu roti. It doesn't taste good at all. You will make better koththu at home. Mutton koththu barely has any mutton.

I’m a regular customer, ordering from Uber Eats. Best food ever, the Kothu roti and Biryani is extremely delicious. Am definitely coming back for more. Thank you Gasa Restaurant, your food is always delicious and tasty every time.

BEST KOTHU ROTI IN GTA.

Wonderful mom and pop shop serving southern Asian/tamil food. There is a reason that the lineup is through the door and into the parking lot at peak times. The food is flavourful and has generous portion sizes for very affordable prices.

In my opinion the best dishes to try are the chilli chicken kothu roti (or any kothu roti), the chicken biriyani, the chilli chicken noodles and the squid pittu mix. The rolls are spicy, crunchy and pair well with kothu roti as an appetizer.

Try calling ahead before you head over there to minimize wait time.

I am used to be regular customer and always buy mutton biryani but nowadays for past 2 months I noticed that they are more concern in money rather than service as last month I bought mutton biryani but they only put few mutton fats and chicken bone no meat to eat so called and informed them what happened and they sound like can't be bothered which shows customer service was not good. Today I bought mutton biryani again and the same issue happened again which makes me very irritated that was the reason why I input this review instead of calling and informing them again as I find it useless. For those getting mutton biryani over there just be cautious about what is going on. I am not going to go there again to get food. Thanks

This place does not value customers time and their urgency even if u order the food give them their 20 mins they dont make ut till u get there. This was my 5th time i decided they well over stepped my patience. Its UNACCEPTABLE DONT TAKE PEOPLES TIME FOR GRANTED.

We purchased two koththua, one regular and the other stringhopper koththu. Unfortunately, we experienced diarrhoea. Whatever happened to your catering establishment?

This place is a hidden gem. We tried the vadas, spring rolls, aloo bonda, sweet bondas. The vadas could have been fluffier and the spring rolls were too dry with very less filling. The aloo bonda could have been warmer. The taste was good and satisfying. Will return to try their elaborate menu which I was told the prices have changed but not updated.

Ordered kothu rotti and briyani rice. Kothu roti was good but the roti they used was burnt a little.

This restaurant may be small but they definitely know how to cook. The food is delicious and made fresh! I ordered two mutton rolls as an appetizer and the chicken kotthu roti as the main, they were both excellent. The mutton roles were so good I almost went back after I left to buy more. The kotthu roti was very fresh and had a lot of chicken (pretty spicy too). All this for a great price too! Definitely recommend!

Their chicken biriyani is to die for - big portion and lots of meat! Their kothu roti and Sri Lankan dosa set is also a hit. Only criticism is that the customer service needs a lot of work as the front-end staff aren’t the most organized with taking orders, and not to mention managing store capacity to adhere with COVID-19 guidelines. It’s also difficult to get a hold of the store over the phone at times, so you may need to wait a long line during peak times.

Hey guys i have been eating a lot of biryani from your restaurant and its always great & cost friendly! Can you guys please add an option to order half of your regular size in uber eats! Sometimes people don't want to spend 10 more dollars on an extra order but still want to eat the other dish! So adding an option to order half of an order on an existing full order might help get more orders and i surely will use it a lot of order your veg biryani! Thank you god bless you

Have driven by this place on the way Costco multiple times, finally decided to give it a try. I order chilli chicken kottu for takeout. I saw the box and it looks tasty and I have tried kottu for a lot of places so was ready for comparison. But this tasted completely different. It wasn't kottu with chicken it was a perfect blend with spices and flavour. Wow loved it and will definitely order for there again. A tad tip heat it up in microwave for a min and enjoy it.

Was pleased with the chicken briyani. It was served on banana leaf. The mutton rolls were not bad. Ample parking. This place is interac or cash only.

Mediocre tamil food. Bad customer service. Lady at counter is rude and needs to be trained on how to deal with customers. Rather go to babus and eat their roach kuthu

Food has definitely gone down the drain over the years. From customer service to the quality of food this place should be nominated for kitchen nightmares

The food here is either a hit or miss. Customer Service does not exist at all here as the employees always seem miserable. Beware of the dirty greasy debit machine

Highly reccomend mutton kutta roti and mutton byriani. For 7 bucks each u cant go wrong. Staff may seem rude, but u have to consider thats how it works. Its a quick whatcu want and you better be ready with ur order. Also theres no menu, if you dont know what to get just get a byriani. Never had a bad experience with that.

Although the food is okay, the customer service at this store really needs improvement. Tubby cook was not following COVID-19 protocol by wearing his mask right below his butt chin and not covering his mouth. Couldn't communicate with customers properly and oiled up the transaction machine with his greased up hands. Would not recommend.

We bought kothu roti from them on Friday evening. We ordered and picked up food at 9PM, we ordered for for next day picnic, when we opened the food, next day morning at 12 PM, food had FUNGUS on it. Food can go stale, in 12 hours but for fungus to grow in food it has to be real OLD. We called the restaurant to complaint they refused to acknowledge. I’m definitely going to complain to authorities about the quality of the food.

Craving that authentic Sri Lankan food, look no further Gasa is definitely the spot. The food is very flavourful and portions are great. The mutton briyani is a must try. The owner is very respectful and provides excellent customer service. Highly recommend this.

I live nearby and went around 10 pm got 5 mutton rotis which seemed fine until i got home literally 5 mins later and bit into one and the stench came through and I knew it was rotten. Took it back immediately and asked how they were willing to sell this. As it would make anybody sick. Their response was that its summer and it is hot so its hard to tell and then they took it to the back and asked somebody else what they thought. And I was being told that it doesnt smell and it was my fault. Cashier was nice enough not to argue even though the other workers seemed reluctant and I was given my money back. But overall one experience like this tells me enough not to go back or even recommend trying this place since I wasnt even given any sort of apology for being sold rotten food to go give my family.

Horrible food. Majority of the food items are from days ago. The rice I got went bad by the time I got home which was 20mins away. Owners claim food is halal aswell but when asked for the certification they said its somewhere in the back and brushed it off. Definitely would not reccomend.

Food is good but when you call to order ahead of time for pick up, they mislead the customers on pick up time of their orders.

I have mixed feelings about this place. Their kothu roti is delicious! The chili chicken one especially. But the service.not so great.

Call and ordered 2 mild chili chicken kothu rotis ($8 each) tonight. First off, they never really note down your name or number when you call in to order, they just mark down that there's a meal to prepare.

I was having people over (hence the reason to call in and order) and was kind of in a rush to get home. I went to pick up the food about 30 minutes after calling in to order. There's a whole flock of people inside the store, and when I finally make it to the front, the lady at the register says.oh it took you soo long to get here, so your orders gone, I'll make you a new one in 5 minutes.

Clearly just tryna stall for time, but I was cheesed that she gave my order away. I don't think 30 minutes is a long time to go pick up your order after, especially if she never asked me on the phone what time I was gunna come pick up the food.

10 minutes after waiting, I finally got my food. No apology for the extra wait, just a.here's your food, will that be debit or cash (they don't take credit).

Overall, very unimpressed by my experience, and I'll be back for the food, but the service is definitely a 1/5 stars in my books.

Babu's is way better for all the food. Especially kootu.
The wada were totally cold at Gasa. I asked them to make the kootu with gravy. It came out totally dry.

I am so disappointed with the service that was provided at Gasa. This past weekend I catered from Gasa and their food went bad, so I had $200 worth of food gone to waste. I called and informed the store and their response was "I can make you another one tomorrow" Why would I need something the day after my event. So we went and returned the noodles the day after, and the manager said to bring it back another time, we live in Mississauga, I do not know where the logical thinking was when he said that. He said he would call us back, but no call was made back to us. It's really simple, if the food went bad, then the customers should receive a refund. Bad ethics, very disappointed, never again will I order food from Gasa again.

Place is small but cashier/owner was nice gave us free sweet thing and gave us item discounted. We bought mutton Kottu roti and Chicken Biriyani. Couldnt decide which one was better we loved both.

It's ok for the food but waiting time is too long. They are very busy but they don't have enough people for work today. But night time they have all the food is 50%discount price.

I ordered food worth 210 which spoiled from Mississauga, the owner completely disregarded me when I went back to return the food the next day. I had to go back a third time to get a refund in which he told me he will only refund me 130 because he doesn't know if I put something in the food to make it go bad. Common sense dude, why in the world will I order food for my dad's birthday event from Markham when I live in Mississauga to put something to ruin the food? Jesus and then the attitude from the owner. Don't talk down to me like I'm an idiot when you're AT FAULT!

Best Srilankan restaurant. Offers indian foods and specialized in Kothuroti & Briyani. Gasa restaurant Kothuroti is very famous & tasteful in town. They make with mutton Kothuroti, chicken Kothuroti, egg Kothuroti, chilliechicken Kothuroti, seafood Kothuroti & vegetable Kothuroti. The owner and his brother is very friendly with the customers also the staffs are good too. Prices are not expensive. Gasa restaurant makes curry roti and mutton rolls it's awesome taste. Their seafood Briyani is very taste too.

Pretty average establishment that serves lackluster items. 4 stars given for friendliness but the food is 3 stars unforunately.

Very tasty food at reasonable price. The best items to try are kottu roti and biryani. In snacks he sells the best mutton roll and vada.
Suggested to call before you go as it may take some time if the place is busy.
Overall freshly prepared food at reasonable price. Totally value for your money

Quality of food is good. Reasonable waiting time for in person order. However, many times even after phone order is taken, the order would not be ready and end up waiting 10 more minutes. It's like the phone order was forgotten. Otherwise friendly service.
