George's Fine Chinese Food

Whether you can enjoy this food might largely on whether you were born in Cambridge or not. The sweet and sour sauce is horrendous and appears to be made largely of ketchup. I ordered General Tsao chicken from here and was amused that the person working there tried to talk me out of it. It met my expectations; The sauce was pretty bad. Edible, but with no spice or joy.
But then my family still wants to order from there…. Crazy.

It was nice to see the updates to the decor at front of the restaurant and the service was great.

Not the worst, but will not go back, fried rice tasted like a block of salt and noodles were so dry and tasteless, only thing I liked was the egg rolls but wife didn’t like them, said they were too greasy

The staff was super friendly and efficient, but we were so disappointed. Have not eaten here for years and gave them another chance. Sauce was watery, rice was clumpy and flavorless. The lemon sauce tastes like soap and was watery. Ordered 7 meals all together and no one was happy. Then even the fortune cookies had the same fortune. Won't be back

Has gone downhill! Tiny container of rice, and two containers of chicken with barely any sauce in them! How stingy can you get? They have very good rice and sauces, but don't give you enough, so that you have to order extra.good way to lose business!

Our #1 choice for over 20+ years for the famous dinner 18! All children's favorite request for birthdays dinner! The sweet & sour chicken is dynamite and the egg rolls are awesome! Unfortunately with the times prices are going up becoming too expensive to eat regularly, special occasions only! Only reason for the 4 stars if based on food only perfect 5 every time!

Very good Chinese Canadian food, egg roll and plum sauce were all home made and delicious. Very nice interior/décor too for that authentic North American Chinese restaurant experience.

This restaurant was a longtime favourite in Cambridge. The locals know to go right to the back diningroom. The decor hasn't changed in decades-if ever-nor has the menu. The "Number 18" menu selection of egg rolls and soo guy mushroom and soo guy almond, as well as their sweet and sour chicken were favourites. The breading is light and crisp-not like in many places where you have a ball of dough surrounding a minuscule cube of what you fervently hope is chicken. The portions here are meaty and generous and the sauces thick and flavourful. Sadly, the sauces now look and taste watered down and the egg rolls have become greasy. After more than 4 decades of looking forward to the comfortable familiarity of a tasty meal, my dear friend and I had our last meal at George's on May 4,2025. We won't be returning: it just isn't the same.

Had a great time Good is always great! Server was excellent. My son enjoyed his first time.

Food is great! Service is good too. It's stood the test of time. I'm in my sixties and first the first time I was there I was in my twenties. It is just as good now as it was then. Highly recommended it.

We have been going to George’s for years! The food is always consistently hot and the dishes very tasty. It never disappoints… George’s is our ‘go to’ for Chinese food and I wouldn’t consider going elsewhere:)

I have been going to George’s off and on for 31 years.
The quality of the food is as incredible today as it was back then. Undeniably the best egg rolls I have EVER had!
Recipes are timeless & never wavering from the first time I tried their food to now 31 years later.
Their customer service is respectful, courteous & prompt.
Absolutely 100% recommend giving them a try… you WONT be disappointed!
Possibly the only complaint I would have is they need one IN Kitchener…lol

This was the most disappointing Chinese takeout experience. $70 + for four dishes. Noodles were overcooked to the point of mush, sweet and sour chicken was overcooked (and I was charged extra for having the sauce left on the side, portion was also not worth $15+), jalapeno wontons were pockets of air and my husband said it was the worst General Tao he'd ever had. We will never return. I would give zero stars if possible.

Won't go back. We shared sweet and sour chicken and lemon chicken. Both were basically just a plate of chicken tenders with watered down sauces. Bland and apart from a slight lemon flavour on one, both tasted the same. Our cat might enjoy the leftovers.

Thanks for taking the time to write your experiences. Everyone has to take the time to rate restaurants and businesses. We spend major dollars and receive smaller portions and product. Let's make it RIGHT contribute they will LISTEN.

Just went to order take out and had the rudest service I have ever had. Older women took our order and when we raised a concern about our food (pie) because she had ruined it, she argued and blamed us for not being there. She did not refund our order or ask us if we would like a new one. She just argued and gave us attitude. For their high prices you would expect better. Do not eat here if you want to be treated with respect and have someone take care of your order to your satisfaction.
Once we got home the pie was sitting in liquid and the crust was mushy. We called and complained and to no surprise they were rude again. Avoid eating here

Food was delicious as always but what I got for $100 to feed 4 was very sad. I ordered the #18 &19 for two and it was the same amount as the 18 & 19 for one.containers were small and not even full.

Absolutely disgusting egg rolls taste wierd and the rice no flavour eggs an celery! I could have cooked that my dame self. I would never recommend anyone to go there also when I called them.all she said was oh well we have never had a complaint in the 72 years we've been open.just to find out they have been shut down a few times.anyway my dog wouldn't even eat it

Not as good as it used to be. Doesn't make you feel very good after eating it and super expensive now.
