George's Greek Grill

Really enjoyed the chicken deluxe pita. Tzatziki and veggies were fresh and tasty. Complimentary butternut squash soup. Previously, we ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner (that too was really good). Will definitely be coming by to order from here for my Greek food fix.

Was at work and had a craving for some Gyros. Since I’m not in the office all the time and not very familiar with what’s available in the area I took to Google to find a nearby Greek restaurant. Lo and behold the first one that pops up is George’s Greek Grill with 4.5 rating and hundreds of reviews. It’s gotta be good right? A few bad reviews, maybe they were just too picky. It’s settled I’ll give this place a try.

Upon arrival the place is very quaint and small, but clean and the air is filled with the scent of Greek food. The young woman behind the counter was very friendly and polite as she took my order. I was even offered a sample of their butternut squash soup whilst I waited. The soup wasn’t bad, but the flavouring was almost more of a butternut curry taste.

Once my order was ready which was only about 10 minutes or less I might add, I was handed my order and off I was back to the office with excitement of what I was about to enjoy.

Upon returning to the office ready to devour what I assume is going to be the best Gyro ever! It has to be right? 4.5 stars says so. I unwrap and feast my eyes on a mountain of shredded lettuce. So much so that you can’t even tell there’s anything else in the pita. Not a big deal let’s just dive in and have a taste, looks aren’t everything.

The moment I’ve been waiting for has come. I prepare myself and take a bite and naturally I get a mouthful of lettuce and tzatziki, tomatoes, onions the usual. Everything but the meat. Another bite and this time I got some of the gyro but to my displeasure it is leathery and dry and not very flavourful at all. And before you say maybe it wasn’t hot or something like that, my office is only 6 minutes away.

I open the pita to investigate further and find the gyro under all the other accoutrement, but it looks over cooked, dark and as if it was cut off of some sort of compressed meat brick. Very odd looking to be honest. I live in Greektown on Pape and Danforth and have eaten my fair share of Gyros, but nothing like this. I maybe had about a quarter of the Gyro and didn’t really feel like finishing the rest, my appetite was lost sadly.

I’m sorry George’s Greek Grill. I don’t know if this was an off day for you, but you did not live up to those reviews, ratings and accolades. Thank you for the soup sample though.

I gotta say, the food here is quite killer. I've tried various Greek places and this location serves some great food. My wraps were loaded, they tasted great, and I was full by the end of it. I would give this place 5 stars, but the owner's responses to other people's negative reviews baffled me. There's more to a restaurant than just the food. I had a good experience, my food was good, but I personally find it difficult to support a business run by someone who is rude and not open to criticism.

Delicious gyro that's actually beef and lamb. Highly recommend the gyro wrap. Very friendly too!

Dry meat, old rice and expensive for the portions. I should've read the reviews instead of going off the rating. Go to Jimmy the Greek in the mall down the street and you'll be less disappointed.

The owner seems to deny everything instead of trying to make things right in the responses and assume they will in this review too.

Edit: Just as I thought; a rude response back. 1. No one asked for a free meal, just asking for a FRESH tasty meal. 2. Honestly sad how after so many reviews you really don't seem to care about your customers.

The food is good. Had take out twice, and they are consistent with service and quality. First time there I was offered a sample of their butternut squash soup while I waited. Very tasty. They take pride in what they do. Will add this place to my choices for take out.

Paid large soup and they forgot to put it in the bag. Frustrated. Called back and they refused to correct their mistake and didn't want to deliver

Toooo good. I’m Greek and this is probably one of the best souvlakis I’ve ever had. Tzatziki is good because it’s thick, how it’s supposed to be

My gluten free friend told me to come here as an alternative to my usual lunch, and it did not disappoint. Thanks George, and Aman.

Reviews for this place are high so I was shocked when I got my veggie delight wrap. I couldn't get myself to eat it. There was sauce everywhere and the wrap was soaked. Had to end up buying something else to eat.

I did try the butternut squash soup which was good.

I had the Wow Fries along with the Chicken Delight The chicken delight was tasty and filling. The Wow fries were the star of the show they were tangy with lemon greek feta and 3G sauce although a little salty enjoyed the meal nevertheless. The staff were kind enough to accommodate for us 30 mins before closing up.

George’s Greek Grill is the BEST. Our family has been ordering here for years and love everything - plus the wow fries are such a treat. I made the mistake of trying another well known local Greek place and it does not compare to the quality, taste and value at George’s. Anytime I do pick up the cashiers are friendly as well.

Good food and was cooked quick. I like the salad. Also got a free sample from their soup of the day so that's definitely a plus. Very epic

Second time here. Food is great. Ive tried the chicken wrap which was really good. Second tome around i got the souvlaki dinner and portion was great and food was amazing. One thing i have experienced here both times is that the food is VERY fresh. Also dont sleep on the soup. Husband tried and loved it. My fav greek food

More of a takeout spot not a lot of seating bit my husband and I dined in on the dinner for 2,2 Wraps, a side salad, and potatoes. Great value for really great quality greek food, and they accommodated a lactose allergy with their 3g sauce. Also kindly gave us some butternut squash soup to try while waiting which is definitely worth ordering on its own. Excellent food.
