They need to fix their sound system! For years, the audio has this terrible tinny buzz over the music and announcements, which will give you a headache the longer you stay there. It has a decent selection of goods for a smaller supermarket, much like a tinier Zellers. The aisles are small, and it is hard to pass other shoppers, particularly during busy times, even with the smaller shopping carts. I'm not a huge fan of the new self-checkout layout, as having the person standing behind you makes you feel watched as opposed to helped. I wish they had faced it the other way, even if it were less open.
Prices are meh, you can get better deal else where (especially for produce). The staff is decent, some better than others. Only go there because the location is close to me.
Also, if you aren’t a fan of older people, don’t go here. Most of them stand in the way and will block all the aisles. Even the outside too. So, if that bothers you go somewhere else. Because they’re BAD.
One of my favorite cheap and cheerful stores. I always find what I need at a reasonable price. Not the greatest quality on some items but it's good value for my buck.
I have shopped at the Margaret ave location for close to 20 years and I have always had a great experience. Unfortunately last week a jar of pickles slipped out of my arms and smashed and I felt HORRIBLE! One staff member in particular named EMMANUEL came to my rescue and made me feel at ease that accidents happen and he even ran to grab me another jar! This guy is maybe 19 and went waaaay out of his way to make me feel better about making a mess. I offered to help him clean it up but he wouldn’t have it. THANK YOU EMMANUEL! You made my day! (one cashier didn’t seem happy with me when I told her what happened so that was kind of frustrating) but Emmanuel made up for that and also good ole Dan who has worked there for a long time.
Spent an afternoon looking and didn't see a single Tiger. Not even a little one! Not worth paying for the tour. Tried to get my money back, but the guide just ran off across the parking lot!
The only part of the store I'd rate a 5/5 is the as seen on TV section. Only because it's comical to go look at the selection of random junk.
Other than that, the window was smashed and covered with plywood. Most of the bins were full of cheap imported products that nobody wants to buy. And the selection of the rest of the bits are leaving a lot to be desired.
Masks are mandatory in the store. Unless you have a special relationship with an employee who will allow you to go without a mask - and will fill up your cart for you to boot.
I had a woman help me purchase sandals for my son over the phone tonight and she was just so helpful and wonderful! She checked for sizes and styles and my son was just thrilled with his new sandals. She definitely went above and beyond and we really appreciate it. Thank you
Went to buy scrubs for work everywhere else was sold out they refused to let me buy them due to the lockdown. I think they missed the part about essential items.
I love shopping in this store. Meets all my needs and staff is wonderful. I really like this little store. Just right size and lots of things I need are always there. It is good for me!
I had to Karen the manager and employees whos getting paid min since they didn't have the 6 cow squishmallow that I told them to hold for me. Waited an hour because I was mad that they didn't hold it for me then when they found it they told me it was 1 per person? !? !? !? ! I brought the whole case because that was the least they could do.
The store did not have everything I needed in stock but I still give them a 5-star rating because the people who work here are just awesome. From the young lady at the door counting visitors to the staff members I had questions for.they each went out of their way to help. I was not expecting such helpfulness so it was just amazing customer service. I do think they provide great customer service here because they are just simply very good and kind people. For this, I actually quite enjoy my experience and will surely come back to shop. Thank you.
Purchased chocolate here that was expired over 2 and a half years ago. (Christmas chocolate) everything here is expired and overpriced.giant tiger is a trap for people who are not able or do not have the means to goto walmart. I feel bad for people that are forced to shop here for whatever reason.
Ps. Don't buy the waterbridge Belgian chocolate seashells.you'll get sick.
Great spot to quick run in and get something basic you need! Often a line up due to people shopping who are bringing their entire family (2 parents and multiple kids) during the covid restrictions.
Giant Tiger is a fabulous tour with terrific prices. They have quite a variety and usually when I go shopping I always come up with something. Certainly more fun than a dollar store
Staff isnt friendly. They all seem to be depressed and introverted and the store isnt very clean. Staff can get a bit rude/aggressive if you take too long to decide what kind of canned soup you want (its happened more than once). They have some great prices which kind of makes up for the mundane environment but they definitely need to work on their staff energy.
If this the Margaret St location, then absolutely give it a 5-star rating. Always a pleasant atmosphere for shopping. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Selection is ok depending on the size you are looking for, goes for shoes as well. Prefer this location over the other Kitchener location. Variety and quantity is better at the Margaret location. Still could not find the 1 item I wanted, but I found other things I needed.
Can always get a great selection of vegetables at a decent price at this location. The lineups at cash can be a little bit of a hassle, but it happens at most giant tigers I have been too so nothing out of the normal.
Although through no fault of their own, their inventory has been depleted significantly. Presumably due to the fall-out of covid 19, Inventory for male clothing was limited to 3XL and 4XL, with a random selection of Sm (and fewer yet, Med) T shirts and pants. Though to be fair, their grocery selection was more than adequate and priced nominally, even more-so considering the aforementioned covid 19.
The store is a good place to get groceries when on sale. Though it gets busy at times the cashiers are usually fast. The clothing is a seperate issue they never have the sizes we look for. Finding Large and XL is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Everything I like is not available that is fustrating not do they get more if the same clothing in. The dilemma I have is the buses no longer stop at the store anymore. Depending on what bus you take it can be up to a 20 minute walk. For elderly and disabled people that is a dilemma especially in the winter. Though they have no control of bus service it's long OVERDUE for a store to be built in Waterloo
This Canadian store is a great place to shop. Popped in yesterday and got some great buys and the quality was great as well. Check out their weekly flyers that are available each Wednesday.
I got lots of great deals shopping there. It was a worthwhile trip. A nice break from our regular grocery store. I was able to pick up lots of snacks for only a buck. We are all set for the week and will have an easy time packing up lunches for the park.
