Gilaneh Restaurant

This is the first time I have seen a restaurant asking for a deposit for reservation, that shows the low quality of their service and not confident enough to attract customers in case some one didn't show up.
No wonder there's lot of low ratings.
Plus, it wasn't for 10,20, or 30 people reservations. I was trying to reserve for 2.
When I asked for the manager, she was replying that this is their policy and you can do whatever you want.
Come on, there's tons of restaurants in GTA and have never seen any of them ask for a deposit.

The appetizer and main course were delicious. The service was good, and the prices were reasonable. However, we ordered Chelo kebab Sultani and Vaziri, but the food plates were so small that the kebabs were stacked on top of each other, with grilled tomato and slices a lemon wedge on top of them. It was challenging to eat in these small plates.

My friends and I experienced persian food in gilaneh, the quality of food was good, the atmosphere was very nice and very good, Miza ghasemi and Baghali ghatough were gilan local food that were so delicious
Finally, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience persian food.

Disgusting food, took over 1 hour for my food to come to the table. This needs a health inspection. I saw the chef touch his Butt crack then touch my food. I got multiple hairs in my food aswell. The restaurant itself smelt like a donkey house. The food was also absolutely revolting and almost made me through up. I was expecting a quality meal but it was cold and nasty. All the cups were sticky and I didn’t even want to drink my Coca Cola I got. Extremely overpriced as well. I also saw the waiters were not hygienic and smelt terrible.
Tables were not being cleaned and we’re still sticking after the guest before us left. I looked at the coke fan and it was expired. I am doing everybody a favour by making this review please do not come here for food…

Gilaneh is the best restaurant to come to with family and friends. The atmosphere is so warm, the service is great, and the food is always delicious and fresh. Highly recommend Gilaneh!

We waited so long for the food. Even though the restaurant was empty. It is not acceptable and they waste so much time even on the food that they were already made. Not all the people have the time to waste on waiting for a food!
The food was great. But we weren’t satisfied with the service.

Kind of expensive sultani kabab $37 one person without tax also Server choose her or his tips without asking customers, I got shocked the server tip it herself without asking me, I never want to go there again.

Waiters rudely ask for more tips, will never go there again and I will tell all people I know to avoid that place
(I have never experienced restaurant that they ask for tips)

For the first time I tried their food with family visiting from USA.
Atmosphere is great! The starter bread they make is delicious. Server was pleasant, welcoming and helpful!
I ordered Kabob Torsh which I regularly order in different Persian restaurants. This one was absolutely awful. It wasn’t tasty and the meat was hard to cut with knife let alone chewing. Rice was nice and long but tasteless.
Washroom was dirty at least when I visited which was on a Friday afternoon at 5pm.
It was an experience, not a great one!

This place is a must go!
The food and the ambiance is wonderful and I highly recommend!

Food was mid. They upcharged on Persian New Year without any notice. I can’t wrap my head around that.

They had very bad service and we waited over an hour and a half and when we asked them about the food they forgot, I do not recommend coming this restaurant

The quality of the food was absolutely disappointing. I ordered koobideh and the taste was awful.

Worst restaurant experience, very bad service we waited an hour and a half to get the food and when we asked about our food they said they forgot, when they went into the back they were swearing behind our backs and the food was not good tasting. The koobida was tasting fake and definitely not real beef. I personally do not recommend this restaurant

The bread is the best bread you'll taste, aside from going to Iran and getting it there. Service has improved a lot since I've last been here (2015). Giving it a 4 star because the women's bathroom was so bad. Major leak from the roof and no warning of water on floor. I'm pregnant and that could of been very dangerous.

Inaccessible. Narrow bathrooms and only stairs, I didn’t see any elevators or anything a wheelchair could go up of, for example. Not great hospitality, we had to wait for the hostess, I noticed she was on her phone during busy hours. And they forgot what we asked for two times. The food was also two stars. The decor looks cool tho.

I had such a great time here today with my friend and her daughter:) the food was AMAZING and so was the service. I will definitely be back!

This review is regarding the booth set up in Calgary on Saturday, March 12th. The food quality was decent but an absolute atrocity dealing with the owner. Not only did they under prepare for the venue, they ran out of food 1 hour into the venue and did little to appease angry customers, myself included. For the price and food quality, I'd rather dine elsewhere next time and save myself the headache.

Don't waste your time here, they let you reserve a table on their website, their phone is out of line.

Gilaneh’s a little hard to find from the street, but if you’re coming here, you know exactly what you’re doing:)

Expect to spend over $100 for two, but it’s worth every penny. Torsh Kebab is a Gilan regional speciality and absolutely delicious:)

Food was subpar. The rice was stale and oily as if it was left over from the bottom of the cooking pot. The minced/ground beef dish was very hard and over cooked. The serving staff were unavailable and at one point we had to get up, attend the front counter, only to see a few of them gathered together at a table chatting without attending their guests. Poor service, disappointing experience. Unlikely to return.

This restaurant pretend to be Persian restaurant. The servants causing stress running in the restaurant. Clearly understaffed. They never come to ask you is everything good post brining the food. The quality of food was horrible. No flavour at all. Be prepared to be waiting for tour food 1 hour or more very very slow process.

Medicare food and poor customer service. The hostesses in the front is very rude and unpleasant.

The food was ok, I got Kabob Torah which was not cooked well (it was like rare cooked steak). However, our server was very helpful.

I love kababs so that's what I order. Their kababs (Koobideh, Joojeh and barg) were delicious. I went to Gilaneh before the pandemic and they baked their fresh bread which was very good.

The only bad experience I had was related to the reservation. I reserved a specific table as I needed a quiet corner but the table wasn't ready. And it got worse because they gave us one of the worse tables. There were a couple of empty tables which we preferred and the waiter said those were reserved. But no one used them while we were there: (

I will still go to the place, maybe in the near future.but I won't do reservation again! It was a waste of time to do so!: (

The food was terrible! Meat doesn’t cooked at all (Ghafghazi Kebab and chicken breast kebab both) also they used very low quality rice for their meals.

Very nice iranian restaurant, the kebab meat was super tender and delicious, also the appetizers which we ordered grilled eggplants with walnuts and pamagrant paste was so good, also rice, as an iranian guy I can say you're eating one of the food in this place, also the waiters were super nice and friendly, highly recommend

Not a positive experience and leadership needs to step up and be accountable for customer experiences.

The food was tasty but some of the pieces was uncooked and the portion was small. We were not happy with the service. The waitress was nice but because the restaurant was very busy she couldn’t respond efficiently. We enjoyed the environment and view.

Took out some friends visiting from Dubai. The ambience was good, excellent food and great service.

Absolut beautiful restaurant and delicious food. We were referred by a friend and found this place. The restaurant doesn't have a sign and we didn't know this restaurant existed. It's in a very hidden place. We went there all the lights outside were totally dark and had no idea that it was actually a open restaurant. I would suggest they should play soft music in the background. But overall it is a great restaurant
