I have been going to Gina's College of Hair Design for many years. I am pleased with the friendliness and service at the school. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

Ragham and the other ladies were very accommodating making it a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

I struggled a lot moving to Waterloo to take this course fresh out of high school but I am so glad I did. Tori, Bree and Cristina were such an amazing help throughout my time at the school as were the teachers. I will forever be grateful for my time spent at Gina’s College.

I came here to get highlights and a haircut and I must say that this is 100% the best my hair has looked in my entire life. The hairdressers were very nice and did an amazing job on my hair

I recently graduated from Gina’s Medical Aesthetics program! It was an amazing experience! The class sizes are small allowing you to get to know the staff and your teachers. I would like to give a special thank you to Bree in admissions. Bree was always super helpful, friendly, kind, caring, and funny.

Terrible, terrible school DO NOT GO HERE! They say they take pride in their students education but they do not at all! If you want a good education go somewhere else. Even during a pandemic they took on new classes well knowing that these students would not be getting the proper training they need to succeed. They have no morals they just want your money!
No one at this facility has any idea what's going on, you pay them an outrageous amount of money and they give you a chore list. We are students not ur employees! You work for us! They are so disorganized and claim they are so reputable, as someone who works in the salon industry my employer will not hire any student from this establishment!
Don't fall for the girl in the offices b.s shell tell you anything to get you to come there!

Cheap price for an inconsistent haircut quality.
I have had my haircut and color at this place several times. The price is very affordable and the thought of the work done on your hair being review by the teacher is great. But, sometimes they missed things. I asked for a simple v-cut at the back with long layers. I was told they cannot do the v-cut how I want to (despite the fact that I have done that haircut several times) so I went for a flat cut. Then, when the student did my layers, it was very choppy and uneven. The teacher did not review the layers because the student curled my hair right away, thus hiding the choppy and uneven layers. I didn't notice it until I wash my hair (my hair is naturally straight).
Will I be coming back? Maybe if I am in waterloo and I am on a budget. If I want a guaranteed good quality hair, then no. Do keep in mind that your experience may vary depending on the experience that the students have.

I have been to Gina's for 4 hair cuts and 1 pedicure. The students are fantastic. Every time, she did a great job. Honestly, better then the 'professional' hair dressers I have gone to. The only bad thing is, when It's time for another cut, the student that cut my hair last time, may be gone because she graduated.lol
I won't go anywhere else. These girls take the time, and the results are very good.

I think Gina’s forgets you pay them a ridiculous amount of money. The entire time I was there I felt like a kindergarten student. If you are done early, you may not leave.you must literally sit and wait, sometimes you end up playing trivia games (yes full grown adults playing trivia to kill time). Whoever wrote the review and used “janitorial staff” you are beyond right lol. You pay to go here yet you clean their toilets? People steal from each others lockers like it’s a high school gym class, literally $1000’s of dollars and gift cards were stolen from peoples bags, lockers and coats. If you are 5 seconds late back to class you get scolded infront of everyone like a 2 year old. & ontop of that on clinical floor you get a 30minute lunch for the entire day.that’s an almost 8hour day of you providing services to clients (that pay the college even more money lol) and you get 30 mins to scarf down food and check your phone. Ontop of this you have to ask permission to go for this 30min break and sign out and back in everyday. This place is mentally & physically draining and honestly the best thought out scam. Train people to work for you for free. My favourite part is the clinical floor teacher makes commission off the products they force you to shove down peoples throat. If you bring up any reason you may be unhappy with your choice to go here gosh they’ll throw your contract in your face “ we made this clear, you signed this, it’s all in writing”. Stay far far away.

I recently graduated from this school and I was very happy with my experience. I first thought of applying because a friend of mine had graduated from here and recommended the school to me.

I felt like the courses were well balanced between theory and practical with up to date information. I also found the equipment to be up to date and I really enjoyed using most of it. They had some older equipment as well but it was stuff that is commonly used in salons today (e.g. Steamers, lamps, hot wax-heaters). The teachers were supportive and friendly, always willing to help and always made me feel confident in my work. Some students had a negative attitude towards the school and teachers but they were often students who were ditching class or not putting any effort into the program.

Overall, I was very happy with the school and what I learned there. Most importantly, when I started working, my employers were really impressed with how knowledgeable and skilled I was coming straight out of school. This is the main reason I recommend Gina's to friends that are considering entering this career.

I had a pedi a few months ago & this school is great to go to have services done, the students are pleasant & take their time. However, you can feel the tension between the students & instructors. I feel they aren’t not given proper appreciation for the hard work they do. The student I had was lovely, yet the girls beside us were upset as they had asked the teacher multiple times to check their work & were ignored as she drank coffee. Lovely little spot for a great service, just hope the girls are treated well!

I've worked at Gina's College since 2012, first as an instructor and now on the administration team. It is a fabulous place to work and I am honored to work with such experienced staff. I am grateful to be a part of such a long legacy of learning with passion for cosmetology, and to see so much talent graduate from our programs. Our students and clients are amazing! There is nothing more satisfying then having students return to visit and hearing the awesome things they have achieved since graduation.

To put it very bluntly this college is a cash cow. Their main goal is to create income, even if it’s at the expense of education. The technology and machines are outdated and many are broken or cords are duct taped. They focus mostly on teaching you their two skincare lines (naturmed & RVB) in hopes that you’ll buy from them in the future and less about actual skin care techniques and anatomy. The hours you are allowed to miss is simply bizarre. 30 hours before you have the pay 6.25 for every HOUR you miss, they make clinical days double so you could easily use all your hours in 2 clinical days as one would add up to 15 hours. They throw you onto the clinical floor with clients without introduction so they don’t have to turn down clients. They push you to offer pricey add on’s and expensive products to clients and penelize you if you do not. They treat you as a janitorial staff and go as far as to make you clean toilets, vaccum, stock shelves etc as if you are their staff. Prepare to be spoken to like you are a child and incompetent, all staff has a “ I’m superior” attitude and have little warmth and compassion. Many of the courses that would make it Advanced are add ons (Brazilian, lash lifts, nail art, nail enhancements, eyelash extensions etc etc). They don’t even offer a discount for your family & friends.mother’s sisters etc pay full price for all services. The lack of kindness and common courtesy in this facility is seriously alarming. Spend your money somewhere they’ll respect you is my only advice.

Wish I would have looked further into programs offered by other colleges before making my decision to attend. Some staff have good intentions, but overall a very negative environment due to lack of proper management & low investment into the functionality and progress of the college.

The student who did my pedicure for prom was very friendly and did a great job! I would come back here again!

My experience at Gina’s College hair salon was so amazing, I couldn’t resist writing a review! I had Mary, a student stylist, do a beautiful blonde balayage on me and she truly deserves recognition for her wonderful work! I will definitely be looking to book further appointments with Mary:)

The students try very hard in the hair salon. Sadly it is the supervisors that show bias amongst customers, and try to charge you more each visit.

I was a regular customer for years and enjoyed having my hair coloured each month. Then the supervisors changed and every time I went in, they would try to charge more and were nasty.
Not only that, I find their manner to be very condescending and rude. Also, since it is a school, the students constantly change, so you cannot expect to have the same student every visit.

I have since changed to another salon in town and have been much happier.

Great place for a great pedicure. Staff are learning the procedures and eager to please their patrons and teachers. They pay particular attention to every stroke of polish that goes on to your fingers and toes. I have visited many, many times and rarely had anything but an absolutely positive experience. They keep me within my budget for these wonderful pampered moments. I'm sure you'll enjoy them too.
