Amazing views! If you make your way to the “Lookout”, you can get a partial view of the Toronto skyline

Nice walking or biking trail with a decent elevation. The trail is easily marked where you can do the trail in a loop so that you don't have to go back on the same trail to return to your vehicle/parking lot.

I love the various paths and lengths here. The nature and variety of scenery made the long walk extremely pleasant.
At some areas the steepness of paths and lack of path maintenance was challenging but yet not too much.
Beware of extremely fast riding bicycles. We were almost knocked out by 3 lunatics going at insane speeds down hill and with no warning!

Amazing spot with low-medium hiking trails. Plenty of different trails to take which makes every trip feel different.

Greenbelt Walks: Headwater Hikes
Glen Major Forest Trailhead
#ONGreenbelt

This is the headwaters of the East Duffins Creek. The trails are well-marked and goes into a loop so you will not get lost.

Remember to bring mosquito repellent for the hot summer walks and if you bring your dog beware of ticks

May, June of 2022. Nice trail, path for hiking but challenging for mountain biking. More than 40km drive east of Woodbine, Elgin Mills in Durham. They are good alternatives experience other than the flat, dense York regional forests. The interconnected Walkerwood, Wilder Foreat, Brock Tract are tempting. They require multiple trips.

If you only got time to explore some trails, take the South side. The drive from Markham to Glen major was also really nice

Love all the Uxbridge trails. Well maintained, lots of options, easily accessible. Strictly bike / pedestrian so they're not all torn up and rutted by ATVs like trails further north. Gets a little busy for a wilderness get away at certain peak times but if you pick your moment you can have the forest to yourself. Maybe because of its relative proximity to Uxbridge and the wider GTA, Wild life seems a little scarce.

This is an expansive network of hiking, biking and horse riding mixed trails in a regenerated forest within the unique ecosystem of the Glen Moraine.
18 October 2021 18:02
Lots of parking and diverse trails! Hike there quite often. Getting 10km out of it is easy peasy. Well marked with numbered posts and maps

Great trail. People with knee problem recommend to carry hiking pole. Well marked trail. Weak GPS signal if you are using all trails app for trail like I do. Lookout point is amazing.
Free parking. Road to trail is broken drive carefully. Pot hole as soon as you enter in parking. Drive safe. Very beautiful and scenic.

This large area is criss crossed with paths suitable for walking and mountain bikes. There is open ground where the aggregate extraction used to happen, and the landscape is meadow grassland with views south towards Lake Ontario.

The Great Canadian Trail passes north/south through the Forest linking to other walks.

Loved the place, very well marked but genuinely wish there was more information about the kind of trail we are entering, like the distance, or a map every now and then to show us where we are maybe? We wondered off on the great trail and kept walking for 2 hours only to end up at the north edge of walker woods!

A great place to hike! Not crowded at all. Love it has some uphills and downhills to keep it interesting… the only thing to keep in mind is that the trail map is not very helpful… you can easily get lost and it’ll be a big loop to go back to the original path. Still recommend

Best forest trail in town, got scenery, downhill, uphill, trees, so it wont feel too hot.just the signs are too confusing and suggest to put up some direction signs
01 July 2021 12:02
Cant get enough of this spot, you got hiking trails, walking trails, biking trails, down hill ski hills, criss country skiing, ski hills, kids skiing in the shadows, ATV trails, great views, good healthy active and like minded people, ample parking and open ends of adventure on either side, continue the journey by crossing the street, turn and go back or use a 2 car system with one vehicle at each parking lot at either end. There are several different return trails so not hike is exactly alike! Definitely bring sleds or toboggan for either side!

Keep going here with our family to hike ever changing season. The trees are a great shade, the birds and the rustling leaves bring peace from busy lives. Sadly I keep meeting bikers that think they have the right of way and do not ring their bell to alert walkers that they are coming. Lots of low tress and shrub make it hard of people with children to get out out the way in time

Fantastic hiking trails in Durham region with a good mix of scenery and inclines for different fitness levels. Beautiful views and loads of different trails and check points so you can really choose your own adventure here. Maps are also placed throughout so it’s easy to see where you are. Plenty of parking too. My wife and I love this place.

A wonderful trail. Interestingly, the scenery is constantly changing! Look forward to coming back and exploring east side

Trails are well marked. Parking can get filled up, especially during weekend prime time. The terrain is interesting because it has lots of hills and viewing points.

Lovely trail and beautiful nature. Almost abandoned during the winter weekdays. Rolling hills make you excited and exercised.
08 February 2021 17:55
Absolutely love this place in the winter, one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever been. Remember to ware good hiking shoes or shoes with spikes because it can be very slippery.
01 January 2021 13:50
Not really flowy. It's up and then down. The climbs are long and the descents are short. It's more of a cross country course than an area for trail bikes. Good if you want a workout or like to keep pedaling.
28 December 2020 16:39
We spent a family day hiking the trails, breathing deep the fresh air, and soaking in the sunshine. The trails are well groomed and easy to follow. We'll be back for more!
27 December 2020 7:46
Beautiful rolling hills with clearly marked trails and vistas around every corner. Lots of points of entry and parking, but get there early.
09 November 2020 23:39
This was a really nice hike. You can make it longer or shorter. In the fall is really nice because there are lots of great lookouts. Not sure if I would like it as much in the summer. There are lots of dogs but they are all on leash. Lots of mountain bikes too. I didn't see any garbage bins, even at the parking lots so if you bring a snack, be prepared to carry it out. Wear long pants as there are ticks about.
28 April 2020 19:00
Nice place to visit to hike. If you want to cover a lot of distance, this is not the place for you. Most of the trails are looping around and it can be a bit confusing the first time. There is an old aggregate pit there and an old farmstead along one of the paths. It was a beautiful day to be there today.
15 March 2020 2:47
Great hiking. Lots of ups and downs to get your heart rate up and then flatter to recover before the next up. Not hard at all.
11 March 2020 7:34
Just did this hike a few days ago and highly recommend it. It is quiet and peaceful and not difficult at all. You can also cycle here if you would prefer that. Enjoy
23 February 2020 1:22
Been there throughout the year. Best during winter, when snow covers everything and fewer people visit. Feels magical. Well marked paths in a network so that you may adapt your routes.
29 November 2019 2:25
Lots of trails. One can do a short trail or add several trails together for several hours of enjoyable hiking.
23 November 2019 6:56
Beautiful scenery in the fall, and nice rolling hills. Very well marked trail. One star off for no washrooms.
14 November 2019 5:51
Incredible trail network thanks to the incredible work of the DMBA crew. The trails are fast, flowy, well marked and filled with awesomeness at every corner. This place is an Ontario gem!
25 October 2019 4:18
This is our favourite trail system in Stouffville. There are a lot of trails so you can keep changing up your route to keep it interesting or hit certain parts of the trail to have the most challenging hills.

It's well signed so you know where you are relative to the starting point most of the time. I'd just suggest taking a picture of the trail map on your phone or something so you have it with you all the time.

There are a bunch of people who mountain bike here as well, but generally everyone's good at sharing the paths.
30 August 2019 2:49
Great for hiking. Challenging trails with lots of changes in elevation. Many many kilometers of well marked trails.
16 August 2019 6:55
Fantastic mountain biking location. Lots of trails of all ability levels. Hours and hours of riding here.
11 July 2019 0:00
Nice place to take a stroll outdoors or go for an easy to intermediate level hike in the Forrest and not too far from the city. You can spend from 30 minutes to 5 hours depending what trails you take. Things are well marked but could be better. Pack a bag with some drinks and sandwiches and have yourself a great day outdoors. Good bike paths here too it seems but I’ll go back to try that another day.
09 July 2019 9:29
Older forest, mixed woods, nicely indicated trails, not too much traffic. Lots of trails to explore, some passing through more heavily wooded areas, others going through fields and ex-orchards, so whatever type of forest you're looking for, you'll find it here!
05 July 2019 7:59
Ticks everywhere, terrible trails. Criminals waiting to break into your car when you are out of site. AVOID!
17 May 2019 0:16
Excellent place to snowshoe as we found lots of areas that others had not walked on previously. We enjoy fat biking and hiking in the summer, basically year round.
