Gold City Chinese Restaurant

Ridiculously Over-Priced: Pre-Covid, my usual order cost $21.00. In August, that went up to $31.00. I got the exact same order this week, and now it costs $38.00. They're taking advantage of 'covid pricing' pure and simple. I'll get my take-out someplace else, thanks.

Don't know if the timing was right or what but the dinner we just picked up from Gold City seemed a lot fresher than most Chinese restaurants. The flavours kind of all blended together and seemed pretty neutral but the tenderness of the beef, pork, shrimp, and chicken was very enjoyable and a change from the average experienced elsewhere. Will be trying them again to see if they can maintain that tender bite.

Gold city food is so bad and bland. No salt, no spice.
#1. The chowmein was just saltless boiled noodles and boiled vegetables full of hugely cut bell peppers. #2. The fried rice was tasteless#3. Beef was edible but loaded with hugely chopped bland bell peppers. #4. Orange chicken (or whatever it was) was rubbery and bland. One of the worst Chinese food we ever tasted and didn't serve plain steamed rice with entrees as promised and paid. Never ever try again or recommend anyone!

I was visiting here with my family on hannukah and they called my grandmother and grandfather the "k" slur! Will never dine here again! Orange chicken was very good

Of all the Chinese restaurants in Milton, it's Gold City that I enjoy the most. Everytime I try others and I find myself wishing I had ordered from Gold City.

I cannot believe all the raving reviews! It seems to me an average person has no idea what a decent westernized Chinese food take out tastes like! This restaurant offers friendly service, timely and hot meals but the food has no taste or flavour; you are essentially getting an average quality Chinese food you’d get in any food court.

The customer service is constantly rapid, excellent ambience, very kind staff. Will return here again when I am here.

I've been going to Gold City ever since I can remember, maybe 20 years? It has always been incredible. Even though I've moved farther away, I still make the drive as nothing really compares!

The price of this shop is much more expensive than that in the same district, the taste is also average, it is not worth the high score, and the service attitude is not good.

The chicken chow mein is not a chow mein. It's a beansprout side dish.there was no noodles at all. 0/10

Thoroughly disappointed with customer service, food quality and taste. This, especially considering how high the restaurant ranks in reviews. Most troubling was the staff and owner having no regard for my personal health exemptions. Will not be returning to this business.

Family owned and run restaurant with great food. Once, our whole family dropped in and the owners were just sitting down to eat before they closed. They got up and fed us all before they got their meal. They always remember how my nephew likes his favourite dish prepared and are happy to accommodate our preferences. They remember us by name and are the nicest people.

Especially after reading all of the good reviews, we were very disappointed. Staff were not wearing masks and very rude welcoming. Overpriced for the quality of their food. It was very tasteless and the chicken was just chewy and not good. One of the dishes we ordered was general tso and it was mostly made of just batter and chicken fat.

I haven’t been to any good chinese restaurants but this was probably the worst.

I wouldn’t recommend this place, maybe we didn’t order something good but was still very disappointed with the food, don’t understand the hype.

Dishes that were supposed to be crispy were soggy with no flavour. Sorry guys, but it wasnt great.

Our go-to place for Chinese food. Good portion sizes. They are popular, so expect wait times on weekends. Food is still steaming hot by the time I got home from picking it up.

Called to place an order for delivery for tonight and was shocked to find out that they were at CAPACITY for orders. Never heard such utter BS in my life no wonder I have never eaten here or will attempt to order from here again

Great food have always liked it but however had not always recieved great customer service. I would call quite a bit in advance for delivery before closing and would always get a snarky attitude then they would instantly hang up like 2 seconds after. I also once ordered for pickup as we walked in (we were in the area waiting for plans to start later that evening and planned on taking it with us) but plans were post poned till even later that night and didn't want the food getting cold so we decided to eat it there and the owner actually got mad us and made us feel EXTREMELY unwelcomed the entire time and we were constantly getting glares and all we were were polite and very quiet (because we were afraid to speak louder than a legit whisper) and there were maybe two other people eating in there aswell so was not at a busy time in the slightest.

Very neat and welcoming restaurant. They serve generous portions and for affordable prices. We enjoyed the menu very much and the staff members were super personal and explanatory. I recommend this place.

This place is unquestionably one of the best place in the region. Whenever I come to this place I am so happy. They manage their high standard service and the highest level of dishes they offer. You will be always satisfied with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

This place offers extraordinary service and tasty food. One of my favourite restaurants around here. The food and drinks served fast and the rates were affordable. Highly recommended.

Very horrible experience. I ordered Shrimp in lobster sauce and never imagined that there would be any meat in it since it was under sea food section. (Menu doesn’t specify ingredients in this dish). When I started eating, realized that the dish has meat in it. Called up the restaurant and asked about this. The person at the phone showed a lot of attitude and arrogance and said that it has pork in it and it is my fault that I didn’t imagine that they would add pork in it. I don’t even eat pork and what threw me off in addition to having eaten a mouthful of the dish is their attitude at my shock n predicament. Would never eat again from here.

Awsome food here, great price too. I always eat in store here, very fresh, fast and delicious, no.scrumptious is a better word.

Found a large hair in my rice, stay away. The back kitchen is extremely dirty do not eat here if you value your health

Great food and friendly, efficient staff. The lack of debit as a payment method is unfortunate.

First time ordering and I am very unimpressed.
The general tao chicken I ordered was almost conpletly batter. No chunks of chicken all very thin pieces of saugy chicken. Hands down worst general tao chicken I have ever had. House special friend rice was alright but nothing special.

Its okay. I was surprised to ser there was no pepper steak on the menu (unless I missed it) that's usually a staple at Chinese restaurants. Also the dishes lacked meat.pork fried rice had no pork for all I knew it was chicken fried rice. Beef with vegetables was more like vegetables with a little bit of beef and the chicken chop suey was the same. The size of the chicken pieces was laughable! Also no option for vegetarian spring roll however the pork spring roll I got literally had no pork anyways lol.so far this is the best we've had in Milton but I think it's worth the drive to Mississauga for excellent Chinese food!

By far the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. Anywhere. It's always busy there for good reason.

I ordered specifically for a dish called Cantonese vegetable chow mein and it started it is all vegetables. We got home and saw shrimp. I was shocked because I knew exactly what we ordered. One of our family member is slightly allergic to shellfish and the rest of the family doesn't eat seafood at all. When we let the mamager know, they stated they will make a new dish. However, we were just out doing all errands and then in the end getting food for home. Of course we didnt feel like going back out. Then they offered Store credit. Well we haven't tried the food yet so we didn't know if we'd like the food. We wanted a refund. She became aggressive stating I want your name and I don't want you to ever come back here. After that comment. I wouldn't even go back. The manager was extremely rude and very unprofessional. This was a very disappointing experience for a new customer when we even explained that to them.

To be fair I will say the food was good but customer service was bad. If they took a moment to listen to our concerns they would have been able to act professionally

Living in Milton my whole life we have only ever eaten from Gold City Restaurant. It’s the only Chinese we have ever had in Milton. The only thing I have noticed it the food is starting to taste different. I don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely not what is used to be. But I love this whole family and seeing the kids grow up and take over to help their parents is amazing.

Food was delicious and made fresh to order. Jardoo chicken wings were amazing. Wonton soup was good. Chicken balls were tasty and had a decent amount of chicken in them. Pork fried rice was great. The man at the front was very friendly and made conversation while I waited for my order. Would definitely come back again and reccomend to others. Best Chinese food (the westernized version) in milton!

Eating in is an OK experience. The food and service are alright, but there isn't much in terms of atmosphere.

I usually order takeout and pick it up myself. Portions are always decent, and the quality is good too. It's really the only good place in Milton for decent Chinese food. I am still searching for REALLY GOOD Chinese though.

Another downside is they only accept Credit or Cash, and they don't have a website. It's 2018! People want to be able to go to your site and SEE your brand. People want to pay with debit as a matter of convenience.

The first time I tried to pay by debit, they told me the convenience store in the plaza had a ATM which at the time charged me $3.50 to withdraw money.
