Well, I forgot to post this a few months ago and my review hasn't changed, in fact it's even better. We were there again this evening and had the most wonderful service, food, company and atmosphere. Kudo's to the family that's been running Golf's for so long! They deserve our business and hope they keep going strong for years to come! We've been there several times in the last 8 months and have enjoyed all our meals. We really enjoy the salad bar, the atmosphere and the service. We've had their Monday specials and meals from their regular menu and all were very good. We're always happy to support local as well.
I had my granddaughter along. The server, Keyin, was gracious to us, even with a child along. He served her favourite drink, and she enjoyed chocolate ice cream for dessert. A very relaxed, enjoyable meal!
Dad here, family dinners are always hard but this was a great experience from myself, wife and kids! Thanks for the great thanksgiving fest. Great service from our server Lindsay and amazing food! Cheers from us.
Today I had the pleasure of attending The Golf Steak House for my wife’s birthday, and I must say it was a great experience. The outside ambiance with the river and trees was a photo op to remember.
Each employee was on point with their courtesy and welcoming mannerisms. I had originally spoken on the phone to George regarding reservations as I was coming from Toronto, and his customer service was on point.
George was not only accommodating but showed value in the customer. From the time I walked into the venue the greeter was willing to take my coat and assist us in whatever way possible.
We were seated right away and had the pleasure of being served by two amazing waitresses Valerie and Alex. They greeted us with a smile and a very pleasurable energy.
Our main waitress, Valerie, explained everything offered in great detail and continuously checked in on us throughout our stay.
We came for brunch buffet and the food was great with a variety of options to choose from. Overall our experience was pleasurable and I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Very few places around us ever have Sunday brunch anymore, let alone a buffet, so when I heard about this place I was willing to make the 2 hour drive. And it was absolutely worth it!
Very old fashioned place in the setup and decor, I felt like I was walking straight into the 80s, but I didn’t mind. It was clean and well-maintained. A little loud in some areas just because of how the sound travels. The view of the water is great. The service was phenomenal, from the young lady at the coat check to the host to the several servers.
The food was great. Much better than what we’re used to in terms of standard buffet fare. Some items were better than others, but everything was fresh and hot, and being changed frequently, frankly more frequently than they even needed to lol, the guy was on fire changing out the trays! Great selection of salad bar, breakfast and lunch foods, carving station with a very professional gentleman serving up some very good ham and prime rib, desserts and breads etc. Only thing that could have made it better was an omelette bar (or any other kind of egg- they only had scrambled). I didn’t have any complaints about any of the food though. It was all wonderful. We left with our money’s worth for sure, but it was not just quantity, it was quality too.
We ordered mixed drinks from the bar, excellent and reasonably priced. Much better than I would’ve expected from a steakhouse. They brought out a mini dessert for us to share for our anniversary too, a very yummy cherry cheesecake.
The place is very reasonably priced, one of the best values I’ve had in quite some time, and includes everything except gratuity and alcohol. So convenient!
I would really recommend to anybody. If you’re used to bland, dry and dreary buffets, give this place a try and it will give you hope for what a buffet can be when people clearly care. And a great location. If we lived closer, we’d be there every week. But for now, we’ll have to settle for once in awhile.
Had not been since before the pandemic, and the Prime Rib is still outstanding. If you want a place where you can have a conversation with your partner, this is it. No music, no ballcaps, no kids running amok, no cellphones. Our server, Hayley, was excellent. Ask for a seat by the window in the atrium.
Golfs is known for thier Prime Rib. The best anywhere. But I tried some Seafood and was blown away by how good and generous it was. The cheesecake is to die for. We will make this a regular Dine out.
Our woman’s club had a luncheon at Golf’s. The food was delicious, the service was superb and dealing with the owners of Golf’s was a pleasure. I highly recommend this restaurant.
This is our first time here. The food was great and very delicious. Hayley was very attentive, friendly, very polite and even helped me with my food choice. My husband and I would definatey come back.
Steak was cooked to perfection. Everything was done well. I wish someone was monitoring the salad bar to make sure people were using sanitizer though. Will be going again!
We attended brunch this past weekend, the food and service was top notch, this was only Golf’s 3rd brunch since protocols were relaxed to allow brunching, this was our first buffet style dining in nearly two years… Golf’s has a good system, lots of single direction paths, most of the guests were allowing good space between parties. Back to the food the roast beef was perfectly done, nice and rare, the horseradish made my eyes water (two thumbs up for that), if you can’t picture a buffet, because it has been so long, Golf’s had a nice salad bar with lots of options, bread and rolls, chicken, rice, home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, French toast and ham. Juice and coffee is included (maybe consider a milk substitute (oat, almond or soy) not everyone was able to enjoy a coffee at brunch… otherwise I would recommend it, there is lots of parking.
Had dinner here with family and friends on December 3rd. It was by far the best customer service I have had in a very long time. From the young lady who checked our vaccine status, coat check, seating host to the wait staff. Exceptional. My sister who cannot do stairs was escorted by staff in an elevator to get up to the dining level. The food was amazing. I had a steak and it was cooked to perfection. I am a fussy steak eater and it was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant. They went above and beyond and made our experience enjoyable and relaxing.
An amazing brunch at this classy place. Plenty of great tasting selections including roast beef, chicken, beef ribs (so tender!) And more made for an amazing birthday brunch for my mom. Great staff working the hostess station, serving our table and serving at the buffet! A delicious experience! Did I mention the desserts? So good!
We were there celebrating our Christmas gathering for brunch eirh my staff and we were very disappointed on how rushed we felt by the staff when picking up our dishes and cashing us out it's like they were in a hurry to clear the table to set up for their dinner time I'm not sure. We chose that place because of its reputation and past experiences but unfortunately I must say that we were not impressed not just myself but also my staff
My wife and I both had baked scallops and shrimp which we really enjoyed. Very good garlic bread which came with the meal and the rest of the meal was great too. We didn’t have dessert. Too full from what we had. Excellent service by Holly our waitress and the rest of the staff. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone that hasn’t been there before.
My husband and I got married at Golf's on October 16,2021, and the service we received in the 2 years of planning up until the day of were nothing short of incredible. Planning a wedding is a lot of work; planning a wedding in COVID is a whole other thing, but George made it incredibly easy and stress free. Everything was executed perfectly and our guests were blown away with how quick the dinner service was and how hot, fresh, and delicious the dinners were. The staff that worked our wedding were attentive and friendly, and just everything was so perfect. We can't thank George, Gus, and the rest of the staff for their hard work in helping make our wedding such a fun event that went so smoothly. We also had a couple personal requests that George had no issue with accommodating, which made the day easy. Can't wait to come back for our anniversary going forward!
Normally we'd only go here for the brunch buffet, but in given times that's not an option we'd consider (if it was available). Dinner was good, I believe everyone ordered steak and some people ordered french onion soup. Both were very good and we enjoyed eating there.
We celebrated my husband's 66th birthday tonight and so amazing. From the wait staff to the food to the ambiance. We had 2 young grandchildren with us but the staff we so attentive to them. We were allowed to bring our own cake which they gladly served for us and even offered to take a family photo.
Jackie was our server this evening. She was great. She was cheery & pleasant and attentive. My rack of lamb was outstanding as usual and that peppercorn sauce! My friend had the same. Delicious. Ceasar salad was very tasty though lacking bacon. Friends had veggie lasagna which was fantastic & steak which was also thoroughly enjoyed. Garlic mash seemed as it had sat under a hear lamp for a while. The green beans were perfect! Soup tonight was chicken corn chowder. I had a couple of spoonfuls and would not have it again. 1 of 4 of us ate the soup. Restaurant is (always) very clean and the table linens are spotless.
My family and I have been coming here for decades, and I can honestly say that they have never let us down. Great food at a reasonable price, with friendly owners that greet you at the door and polite servers that look after. Truly a gem! I can't recommend them enough.
We had lovely service our servers name was Amy she was very friendly. I would recommend asking for her to sit in her section. The food was amazing just look at the pictures.
Servers were pretty nice but the food was just not it. Caesar dressing was so sweet and the mashed potatoes were seasoned with nutmeg or something but expected garlic butter. And the prime rib was just not it…
My friend and I had the pleasure dining at golf steakhouse on 10 October. We were very pleased with the service. They actually treated us like royalty and made us feel very welcome and that they appreciated our business. This is one of our favourite dining spots. The food and the staff are very friendly. We strongly recommend it.
Nostalgic restaurant with a great view of the river - spacious, quiet, and with very helpful staff. The food is good, but you wanna save space for the main course - skip the soup and salad unless you're absolutely starving. Fantastic steak! Not so great Madeira sauce. Overall very good experience!
Great place to eat. But I will no longer support this buisness because they refuse to stand up to the passport mandate and fight for their customers. Please join me in boycotting this place till they stand up to the government and stop this garbage.
Scallops and lobster had absolutely no taste. Halibut is very dry. And do you really have to send a strawberry daiquiri back to the bar because it tastes like water and strawberry syrup? Service was okay, but this definitely is not fine dining
We were celebrating a 70th Birthday and the whole experience was excellent. Everone's meals were delicious, the service was fantastic and being outside under their tent on a beautiful day was lovely. Definitely recommend and we will be back!
Came out for dinner with my girlfriend this passed Friday for the first time. Was absolutely fantastic, fantastic food fantastic service and just a great atmosphere in general. We definitely will be back in the future. Thanks for the experience.
Excellent meal prime rib done to perfection, my wife's rack of lamb was superb.shout out to our waiter Andy very attentive with knowledge of the menu. I'll be back and soon
Excellent food, excellent staff, fair prices for what you get. Wife and I had the garlic shrimp to start (which I highly recommend). And then I had the extra cut of prime rib and my wife had the double lobster dinner. Was excellent, we will be back.
Always fantastic. We frequently go ever since our wedding there. Great food, great view and always great service to ensure complete satisfaction. I have dealt with George for years and he always takes care of us.
Took my baby doll for her 28 th birthday, and she loved it. I had their everyday special and thay was the best steak I have ever had. Their soup was delicious, their salad was amazing and their service was top not ch. Can’t wait to go there again. I have had smaller and crappier steak in Toronto for twice the price. This place is amazing
My wife and I went there on the weekend and ordered the prime rib and the rib eye steaks. It was one of the best I have ever had! We'll be back for sure!
Wow where to start with this review. I typically don't give poor reviews or even fair reviews unless the service or product really sticks out. In this case, our server was fantastic. However, the food was sub par.
The bread was served with 'butter' that was actually margarine. They were 100% certain it was butter. We only confirmed as whipped margarine after I stated I had an allergy to it and they confirmed with the kitchen that they just switched over to margarine.
I had ordered a rib steak - medium rare. What arrived had no trace of colour. The manager had told me that I wasn't cutting into the thicker area (note: steaks should be uniform in cut) and when I cut the entire steak up he apologized and said he could bring out a new one but it would take a while. I opted for the prime rib instead. The frustrating part besides the bland string beans and 'scoop' of mashed potatoes (it's not ice cream guys) is that they charged us for the rib steak ($34) vs the prime rib ($28) when I sent the entire steak back.
My friend had a burnt schnitzel (not sure how long it was under a heat lamp) and the seafood platter was underwhelming. Incredible view, but not worth the price of admission.
It was okay. The garlic bread to start was delicious, the salad was good. Bruschetta was nothing special. The mashed potatoes weren't eatable at all. Steak was okay, but def overcooked, lacked flavor. The asparagus was cooked perfect. The outdoor tent was so nice and the view was great. Service was extremely slow. Lots of other great steak places in town so we won't be going back.
The view is very nice, the staff was considerate, and the outdoor tent has awesome lighting.
The food is horribly underwhelming. Portions are decently sized. Tasted like cheap catering: underseasoned, bland, and as if it has been sitting in a warming dish all day.
Went a Long Time ago with my Fiance and His Daughter at The Time. Food was Superb! And Customer Service was on Point! Highly Recommend this Place if you want a Good Bite to Eat. We went on their Special Price Day.
Great dinner! Dinner was absolutely superb, I got the French Onion soup - so good! Nice and salty just how I like it! The whole meal was delicious, our server was lovely and the atmosphere was nice and calm. A great place for date night or a birthday celebration as ours was.
Not happy. I know this is the first time we've all been out and I know we including servers and kitchen staff are rusty that is to be expected. Atmosphere was excellent and staff was wonderful! I am from the east coast so for me to judge the sea food would be normal. I had the scallops they were rancid and bad. I had the lobster also not fresh and tasted fishy.did not enjoy the caesar salad tasted like thousand island dressing. Then had a $40 glass of Lagavulin that was very very warm.also most Hot. Ruined the flavor profile, uncomfortably so.
The bread was amazing and the champagne was good!
Don't recommend for seafood and won't be back.
Feeling very sick now to validate my concern with the fishy food.
WOW, what an absolutely amazing restaurant. Every single time I've eaten here the food is outstanding and staff are very friendly and helpful. Worth every penny!
Great place to eat. I had an excellent cut of prime rib at a reasonable price. The view of the river was a nice touch even though there is no green yet.
Gulf's is my favourite restaurant in KW. It isn't truing to be hip or on trend. Rather it does what it does and does it very well. Great food, great atmosphere, lovely view of the river. The service is always great. During lockdown it has become our go to fortnightly takeaway dinner. We have never been disappointed. The food is still awesome as is the service and care to make sure everyone gets their food safely. I love this place!
My favourite steakhouse in KW! Was lucky enough to get a spot before the current lockdown. The food, service, and atmosphere was amazing as always. Out server was so great and accommodating. The BEST value for money with the most delicious food.
Couldn't believe that soup and salad were included in our meal for the price. We were celebrating an anniversary and received an amazing complimentary cheesecake at the end of our meal.
Order: Steak and Salmon with some cocktails and wine. Our check was just over $100 which is so great for any steakhouse with top notch food and service.
HIGHLY recommend! Can't wait to dine in after lockdown!
We had the valentines dinner. Got it curbside and it was wonderful and very filling.always enjoy eating at or from the Golf Steakhouse for whatever occasion.
We just had the Valentine's Special. It was excellent! The chateaubriand, veggies and potatoes were done superbly! The caesar salad was excellent as was the soup and cake. The ravioli was a little dry, but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. Overall 5 star!
I went for brunch on Sunday. I'm stuck between the 3 and 4 star rating, but will be generous and go with the 4. The food was stellar. Everything tasted 10/10 from the salad bar to the meats (ham, chicken, ribs etc) to the desserts. The servers were excellent, always right at your table to keep your water full etc. I don't want this to come off rudely, but you just can't help get the vibe that you're standing behind your 90 year old grandfather at the christmas party waiting for your food. The line moves incredibly slow. I can't imagine how awful it would be if it were jam packed busy. There is always more then enough food of all types for everyone, but the space they serve the food, its almost impossible to move around freely its so cluttered. Say you were to forget maple syrup for your pancakes, dressing for your salad, a cup of juice etc. Welp, you're getting right back in line behind old grandpa for another 20 minutes to get back up there. The quality and taste of the food makes up for everything.
Golf's is exactly what is appears to be - an old school steakhouse. The decor, previously fancy, now seems dated and a little worn. The mirror by our table appeared to be held on by tape, the chairs are worn and the table cloths seem old. The food is done banquet style, with no real thought to presentation (scoop of mashed potatoes, scoop of mixed veggies, steak chucked on the plate). That said, the food was tasty and the service was excellent. I asked for my steak rare, it was bleu- which is fine as that is my preference but it was also cold. My order was obviously done first and was held for the other orders from my table to be done. Overall, Golf's fails the value proposition, but I did not leave unhappy. I would say for the prices being charged that Golf's has a lot of work ahead of them if they wish to remain competitive.
As always excellent meal and excellent service. For being New Years Eve we couldn't have asked for anything even close to the attention and meal we received.
The ultimate place in Kitchener for steak and seafood. Extremely relaxing atmosphere and the owner puts his personal touch on everything! This is what makes the experience amazing! Always look forward to our next visit.
Walked out before trying food. Rating is based on experience. Waited in line for 15 minutes for the buffet, still wasnt at the buffet but allowed me to see what was available. Not much choice and definitely not worth the 20+ minute line standing. I was going to switch to the salad bar, but a lot of the dishes were empty and the selection was just as pathetic. I left. Wasnt worth the price.
My husband and I attended this evening for his company Christmas dinner, and I can safely say it will probably be the last time I ever willingly attend Golf's Steak House.
I hadn't been since I was about nineteen years old, and in terms of decor/atmosphere it hasn't changed a bit. It looks like a place I'd take my parents or grandparents to reminisce about days of the past. If you're into that sort of thing, enjoy. The lighting was dim, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, until you're questioning if your food is cooked properly.
Our group had a fixed menu, which was perfectly fine. I was really disappointed with the salad bar. I can't even say what it is that I didn't like, but definitely wasn't worth it.
I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu with mashed potatoes and gravy. My meal came with a huge portion of beans.
My chicken was undercooked, to the point where it almost looked pink. But that may have been the lighting. But it was, you could tell by the texture. And I wasn't the only one who had an undercooked chicken, someone else at my table did too. My mashed potatoes were stiff and tasted old. The gravy was tasteless and lumpy.
My husband had the Striploin. He said it was okay, there was nothing special about it, but no real complaint. He also visited the salad bar and found it lacking, with an abundance of pasta salads.
The servers were friendly, and they did have the chickens remade. My potatoes the second time around were better. The Strawberry Daiquiri was amazing.
Overall not a great experience and not what I expected. Golf's Steak House used to be the place to go, and I honestly don't know why.
I have been here several times per year for many years. Unfortunately the quality of the food has slightly declined, however the service is generally impeccable.
My family and I so thoroughly enjoyed my nephew's wedding on October 2018 at Golf's. The food was great! The Prime Rib was done just right - medium and a thick cut as well. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was moist & flavourful. Portion sizes were generous (we are all big meat eaters). Special warm buns, nice salad & amazing dessert Cheesecake or Tirimisu - perfect. Pizza, Wings, Poutine & Fruit Tray at 10: 30 - a lot of food. Coming from over an hour away, we appreciated having the ceremony & reception in the same place. We all thought the place looked really nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend Golf's.
Time warp into the 1980’s. Fancy but dated. Very reasonable prices. Service was great. Salad bar is very weak. Shrimp cocktail was tough. Bacon wrapped scallops good. King Crab legs were a good deal at 40 bucks for a pound including soup and salad bar. Baked potato and veggies included in meal were good. Three of our party had, and chicken/ribs and said it was good. One had rack lamb and ate it all. French onion soup was mediocre and not hot enough. It caters to an older crowd. Prime rib special is a great deal. You would be paying about 35 to 40 % more for this food at a the Keg or a newer trendier restaurant.
Just came home from The Golf Steakhouse. Had to indulge in their amazing Prime Rib. Got it medium and as usual they always seem to get it perfect. The taste is absolutely delightful on the palate. I always am stuffed and have to take some prime rib home. Thanks to their Salad buffet, bread on the table and soup du jour. Service was amazing. Very, VERY polite staff and very good with constantly filling waters and any special needs people request such as lemon slices for waters. Price is decent for amount of food, taste, quality and service. If u are lucky like we were today also the view in the solarium room that overlooks the Grand River. I wish the seafood dishes were a bit less expensive. Also had a crab dinner here once ($40) for a paid Christmas party and it was amazing then. Going back years. Keep up the excellence Golf's. This is how you keep customers. Other places need to take an example from you. Thanks for the amazing service and delicious food!
Have been coming for many years. Always wonderful.from the staff.to the food. The salad bar is by far one of the best. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Visited for brunch the Sunday after mothers day, in an effort to avoid the holiday crowd. Enjoyed coffee and a mimosa. (Highly recommend) The food was delicious and fresh. Staff were constantly replacing dishes and the carving station was always staffed. The service was surprisingly good and I was astonished by the attention to detail, even by some of the younger staff. It was my first time in the dining room (been for banquets) and I would absolutely return. Highly recommend. Excellent value for money, and the price is appropriate for any weekend, not just special occasions.
This is my and my wife's favorite place to go and eat! Dollar-for-dollar you can't find better value in the KW area then the Gulf. If you're going around the supper hour you should always have a reservation they always are busy. They must be doing something right they've been in business for over 40.years
The food was quite good, very traditional and moderately priced. The tables and chairs were nice, however the decor of the place and general atmosphere could use a lift. Almost seems as if it hasn't been updated in a few decades, but it adds character for sure. The staff were great as well.
We made a reservation for a quiet romantic table for our anniversary. We got anything but that. We were in a room - nowhere near the window and with 2 large tables of 10+people at each table. It was so loud that we could not even carry on a conversation between the 2 of us. That was very disappointing. The food and service was good but the atmosphere was exactly what we were not looking for.
