If you want to see stars, stay here! We rented the star gazing cabin. It has a BBQ, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and glasses. It came full stocked with water and has a private outhouse, which was quite clean. We didn't even leave our site as the stars were very visible in our yard. Great value for all that you get.
03 August 2023 8:23
What a disappointment. We spent years hearing about how magical this place was from so many people in the past.were we ever disappointed.
The "pond" is a smelly hole that is breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The outhouse was in rough shape and was less than favorable.
The grounds are clean, and the forest is beautiful. We were booked for 1 night and didn't stay.we set up at 2pm and we're torn down and gone by 6pm the same day.
I won't be recommending this campground when there are so many other beautiful options close by and on the water.

Great staff. Very kind and informative. Campground was nice to stay at. The goats were cute. We stayed in the bunkie. The beds were comfortable but they aren’t insulated at all (just a wooden structure). Would recommend to anyone passing through this area!

We did a reservation to camp for Sunday, February 27, until Monday, February 28. When we arrived, the site had problems and did not have the camping space ready or the way to get there by car, so we resorted to renting the trailer. However, this service did not seem in line with the total price that we paid because the site was not adequate, it did not have soap, the blankets that they offered us were on the floor, there was only one bed available for 3 people, we did not have water to take a shower, we were not offered pillows, sheets and towels and the smell of humidity did not let us sleep. We feel dissatisfied with the attention provided, so we will not return or recommend this site.
18 November 2022 10:08
The staff was not especially friendly or nice when we asked to see the park before paying. I'm really glad we asked and did not stay here. We looked at the sites they said would be good for us in the forest sites close to the gate and they are all rocks, they have no grass it's all gravel and stone on the ground if your in a tent don't expect a good nights sleep. The sties are also really really small. The vibe there is also really uncomfortable and does not feel safe. Each site is a different price so that's a pain, they just keep saying look on the website to book. I was standing there in person I don't want to look online I want to look at the grounds and bathrooms in person to see what it's like before giving you my money. The roads and trails are not well kept and they are hard to get around the sites are not well marked to see what your asking to boom and what the cost will be. None of the other campers were friendly or said hi as we looked around it was a really uncomfortable vibe. I would not recommend this place
22 September 2022 7:59
Great quiet stay for the night! Not sure if they were the workers or just campers but they were so helpful! I was able to refill my water tank by the front house (the other water fill stations had no pressure so it didn't work for my rv tank). She also told me the nearby dump station as they didn't have one. All in all, a great campground and would stay again. There's also a small golf area for young kids and a play area. Perf stop after the ferry!
18 September 2022 2:37
A lot of lake side views and back waters.the best part is the dark sky reserve. Go there and camp at night to see the night sky with a lot of stars ands celestial bodies, shooting stars etc. A bit expensive for camping comparing with other camping spots in Ontario.but worth it.
07 September 2022 22:09
Stayed in the DSP for a night and paid for the Astronomy Night Sky talks. Staff was very friendly and the campground was decent however, the price for the additional stuff isn’t worth it. The astronomy night sky was overpriced and the instructions were poorly communicated with where to go so we ended up missing it as no one showed up for an hour. We were better off saving $80 and using a star app instead
03 September 2022 12:34
Went to the stargazing with my boyfriend. Was a truly awful experience. Got eaten alive by mosquitos and the guides were not able to answer any of our questions about the stars. The owner even made some prejudice comments towards herself and her children. Don't go here.
31 August 2022 23:49
Not fancy, but my stay was enjoyable. The sites have good privacy and are a good size, the picnic tables and side tables were new/in good shape, it was centrally located to everything, and the hiking was an added bonus. I don't have young kids, but he playground was great, and there was even mini putt. I would definitely come back.
22 August 2022 20:02
Went on a Stargazing Night Hike where Shore was our guide accompanied by Jackie. Both were very helpful, kind and very knowledgeable!

Shore knew a lot about the stories of indigenous origins and Jackie told some interesting facts about the trails while letting us eat a leaf that was edible. Tasty leaf too. The stars were amazing as well! Never seen so many stars with such maximum visibility!

Both seem to be very passionate and enthusiastic for what they do!

Also try asking if Shore can let you try her natural bug repellent oil!

This is such a lovely place! The grounds are very rustic, as advertised, and it's the perfect place to relax and camp out in nature. We were in the forest section and absolutely loved it; our site was nice & private, with great tree coverage. We also hiked the Jim Guy Trail and we were the only people there, so quiet and peaceful! We loved all the animals on site too, Milo was the perfect greeter:) We will definitely be back!
04 July 2022 10:43
Very nice camping spots within the trees for smaller trailers’ tenters etc. Lots of tree and very unique setup with various camping alternatives. Some nature walks, quite and relaxing.
30 June 2022 23:19
Nice park to go for a night-sky viewing. The park has lots of camping spots too. The office staff was very cooperative and helpful.
10 November 2021 20:29
We’re just leaving and we’ve been here for six nights (2 grownups and a 6 year old). As other reviewers have said, the facilities are rustic, and I know this aesthetic is not for everyone. However everything is kept immaculately clean and there is a fun, funky, creative look and vibe to the shared spaces. We typically camp in provincial campgrounds because we like the space, privacy, and nature. Here, you get that experience with additional features like an off grid, low light environment and a communal outdoor kitchen and washing up space. If you’re used to the generic family campground experience with sites packed next to each other, little shade, manicured lawns, and big bright generic bathrooms then this place might not be for you. But if you want a cozy, quiet, artsy, friendly vibe and more nature than you can imagine, this is the place for you. And the stars! You’ve never seen anything like this in your life. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We’ll be back soon!
14 October 2021 21:01
We were extremely disappointed in our experience here. The junky entrance to the park and outside the office leaves a horrible first impression. There are a few port a potties throughout the grounds but no water near them to wash up afterwards.which to me, forces me to drive to the washrooms by the office
. Not very Eco friendly is it?

The campfire wood is a joke. Each bundle is half filled with kindling. The kindling in 1 bundle would have served for the 4 days we were there.

The campsite itself hadn't really been cleaned upon our arrival. There were pistachio shells scattered around and the firepit had plenty of ashes in it. We are accustomed to places that clean out that ash and rake the site at least.

The only potable water is fed through a garden hose at the office. Do they not know how many chemicals leech into the water in the hose after laying in the Sun? !

The "wetlands" is a dug out hole in the ground/ mosquito nursery.

It is best not to forget anything on your camping trip here. The "store" is a gift shop and offers nothing in the way of camping supplies. No tarps or bug spray. No feminine hygiene products. Not even marshmallows to roast over your fire.

The swimming pool, although the province had said it could be open, wasn't open to the public. However, you could see the owners children splashing around and having a grand old time. Felt more like a slap in the face to me.

The weather was wet and cloudy so we weren't able to enjoy the night sky, which of course, no one can control and we may have enjoyed ourselves a little bit more but that doesn't overlook the many deficiencies.

O/10 we will ever return.
30 September 2021 3:20
Park staff were great! Wood delivered to the site and staff always made time to help and answer questions.
21 September 2021 13:56
Beautiful private campground under new ownership as of 2021. We stayed at spot 36 which they mentioned was a new site. The view during the day was great over the green space and pond, and at night it is absolutely stunning due to the dark sky preserve.
If you are passing through, or planning to stay for a while, this is a great campground with very friendly staff who have forged an oasis on Manitoulin Island.
20 September 2021 22:47
250$ for two nights in a tipi. 10$ for bunch of firewood. Porta potty is, mildly said, something you shouldn't approach without a hazmat suit. Not a great camping experience.

I slept in motels with a pool, AC and minibar included for less cash.

Thanks, never again.
11 September 2021 11:47
If you're looking for an authentic camping experience, this is the place for you! I am reading a lot of poor reviews saying facilities were terrible and the office didn't sell supplies and the trails were creepy etc.well this is not a hotel people, nor is it a provincial park.

The forest site we stayed on was perfect. Plenty of privacy for us. Had a picnic table and a cook stand/table. The outhouses were of course smelly but I haven't met an outhouse that wasn't. The showers were rustic but we fully enjoyed that! Because we came to camp. There was something primitive about the shower cord pully to get the water going.definitely the rustic experience we wanted.
And the trails were well maintained and marked well. Nothing creepy about them by any means.

The staff we encountered were friendly and laid back! No complaints there. We loved that they didn't patrol every hour as in the provincial parks and we also appreciated that they didn't pour water on our campsite at 10pm as we've experienced in parks in the past.
The staff were all super chill and happy. We definitely have no complaints there. You can tell this is family owned and the staff are close knit. They looked and felt like true hippies and we were thrilled!

The skies were absolutely incredible. And that was the reason we went anyways. We were blessed by Mother Nature with clear skies and we were very thankful. The views were priceless.

All in all Gordon's Park was perfect for us campers looking for a true camping experience! I would highly recommend it to all the free spirited campers out there. If you're looking for glamour and perfect amenities then maybe camping isn't for you.

We will be making this an annual tradition for sure.
21 August 2021 11:00
We had a very nice time at the star gazing cabin. The staff was very helpful, even with accommodating our dogs. The night sky is beautiful at the dark sky preserve. A must visit.
14 August 2021 11:23
It was a good camping spot but their was not a lot to do except get bit by mosquitos.we signed up for a night sky tour but we couldn't focus on what the Instructor was telling us because of the absolute swarm of mosquitos.
28 July 2021 10:28
As far as a private campground goes, this one is beautiful. Definitely worth a visit when you're on the island. Even if you're only able to come for one of their events, it's still worth stopping by. If you're staying over and want a treat, head around the corner to Garden Gate. Also the Manitou river and lake are just 10-15 minutes away and are a perfect little spot for swimming. But the Eco Park has a few nice trails and lots of space to explore plus fun things for the kids to climb.

I'm excited to see what the new owners do and can appreciate that this is a first summer for them. That being said, sites and park are well maintained. A few trails are off limits but the other ones are well marked. There are lots of signs up with neat information and sayings. I suspect the park will evolve as the new owners make it their own. The dark sky preserve is incredible and only as good as the clouds allow and the other visitors respect the rules. Same is true for the other campgrounds. Only issues we had were with the other campers being loud although that stopped after a staff member at the park said something. We suspect that's what happened and that deserves a lot of respect that they could have simply avoided potential conflict.

Jocelyn seems to be running things at the front and on the astronomy tours. She's passionate about what she knows and is very friendly. We wish her big success with her astronomy or related career!

As far as the other staff, it often seemed like we were awkwardly trespassing on their property when anywhere near the bathrooms. Not entirely friendly but not rude either. Likely just due to visiting on their first big weekend of the summer after lockdown so things were probably stressful. Something I think they'll definitely figure out as time goes on. Lots of potential for this to be a warm and welcoming place with the potential to educate about a variety of topics.
26 July 2021 11:04
Everyone is talking about the night sky, however no one is talking about the facility. Washrooms are outdated, showers are ghetto and only hot water when its sunny.

So if you like traveling back in time.this is the place for you
11 March 2021 4:02
Park is clean. Staff is friendly. Star party is a waste of money. The hike on the Friday night was not actually a hike, we stood in a back field for two hours and the animals did not respond to the 'calls'. Saturday night was rain and clouds, so we couldn't actually see anything through the telescopes, and Gordon's Park does not offer a refund/partial refund even if the event is cancelled due to thunderstorms. Save your money (cost $200.00 for two of us) and we didn't see / experience anything. Go to the back field to watch the stars.the advertisement on what the star party entails is very different than what was experienced.
18 February 2021 7:05
We had a great time at Gordon's Park. It's a very nice campground with spacious campsites and clean facilities. Staff was very nice and accommodating. It's very close to Ferry terminal and for ferry there is a discount for Gordon's Park. Dark Forest campground gives amazing view for stargazing. I would highly recommend.
13 February 2021 9:08
The campgrounds is nice.with its semi private to private campsites.and some nice hiking / walking trails. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the firewood I found it was overpriced for kinlin. Besides the wood the campground is very nice staff is very friendly and helpful!
10 February 2021 9:16
We rented a tipi tent for our 2 night stay. At first, we were disappointed that our site was so close to the main entrance and was not very private at all! There was another tipi site right beside us and it didn't have any sort of bush or trees that separated us from our neighbors so we had to park our car in between the two sites. It was also disappointing that the tipi site beside us was booked when they advertise on their website that they will only be booking every other site for the less secluded ones to allow for proper social distancing. We did see this being followed for other campsites, but unfortunately, not for ours. Other than this issue, we were quite happy with our stay. We felt so comfortable under the canopy of the trees. Our 4-year-old really enjoyed the tipi and it was nice to sleep in a tent high enough for us to stand inside. The washrooms and showers are well maintained, although they could use a bit of an upgrade. We didn't use the outdoor kitchen except for washing our dishes but it was nice to have in case you didn't want to bring a portable stove or BBQ. We went to the dark sky preserve both nights (paid for astronomy night for one of them). Truly never seen that many stars with my naked eye. Also got to use 2 park telescopes and binoculars to view the moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and some stars more closely. I really recommend this if you're into astronomy. The whole campground just has so many nice personal touches and it makes you feel that the owners really care about the place. I even bought a Christmas tree ornament and the girl at the office told me that it was actually handpainted by the owner!
19 January 2021 19:10
We were camping and there was a running generator beside our camp.ir was on till 5 am one night.camp ground too close to the main highway

Our visit to Gordon's Park was an affordable and enjoyable weekend spent under the stars.
Excited for the chance to visit and stay at an actual dark park, we took advantage of the night tours and guided constellation tours. We got to peer through telescopes, talk to owls, and chat with interesting and knowledgeable sky watchers and other enthusiasts.
Camping in the dark park was affordable, fun and enjoyable. The temperature at the end of August was still warm enough that we did not miss having a fire after the sun went down, and we got to see some incredible scenes overhead and into the heavens.
The Gordon's Park crew made efforts to welcome everyone and provided several opportunities for everyone to get to know each other, share resources and knowledge. After a few hours there we'd already met several new people.
Gordon's has washroom, waste and cooking facilities and has practices in place to reduce the environmental impact of tourists and visitors. In addition to water and resource conservation practices we participated in conversations that helped us understand what else we could do to decrease our impact at home and in the forests and wild (s).
The education centre contains/displays some excellent taxidermy specimens, fossils, sky charts and more. If we'd had more time, I would have liked to more closely examine the fish, birds and mammals on display as well as more closely read the details on the life in the park. The university student (Kate?) who was a part of the team pointed out much of the ecological diversity found in the park, which also helped us appreciate how precious and special Monitoulin Island is, but also, Ontario and Canada.
There was so much to see and do during our 3day stay that we did not have time to get into the Gordon's Park pool. We took hikes, we explored Manitoulin, we fell in love with Manitoulin, we made new friends, we played with other people's dogs - we are planning on doing it again!
The park has events on all throughout the year, and is part of what made our Manitoulin Island experience soooo memorable. Visit this place.

Strict on "accepting the terms" over the phone for a reservation. Small sites. Must buy wood from them but really small bundles - look like barked cuts from timber mill. Fire ring is small - no grill - you'll have to get a good fire going to cook. We were there end of season & 1 family monopolized the outdoor kitchen so good luck in summer. But likely great for families/kids. I was intrigued by the dark sky preserve but it's offsite.
29 October 2019 14:14
Our stay was as good as we hoped with friendly help. If you read the information on the website, you will not expect luxury but you will find that Gordon's Park works hard to deliver what they promise in a tough business (private campgrounds). The dark sky preserve delivered as we were blessed with good to excellent weather. If you stay a few days, the pool is well worth it.
Remember that nature has uncertain weather and bugs and rocks and dirt and maybe you might have to use an outhouse that is relatively clean but doesn't smell like roses.but I still love it.
22 October 2019 23:08
Stayed here after crossing on the ferry. We paid about $150 to stay in a cabin. We had asked for a cabin in the Dark Sky Preserve but couldn't as we are a family of four.

Cabin was small as was our campsite. A pack a wood was expensive at $9 and had very little wood in it.

There's a private home on the site (belongs to the owners I think) and they were throwing a party of some sort. The balcony of the house overlooks the common area which you have to cross to go the bathroom. This meant that people at the party were commenting on what I was doing as I went about my night. I felt as though I had crashed someone else's party. To top that off, there were almost no staff on site and the maintenance person had to check us in.

The kids' play area consists of a number of rundown wood structures. I got a splinter on one so I was wary of my kids playing too much on them. A few looked like they were ready to collapse. Not a particularly safe play area.

Overall, our stay was uncomfortable. Would not recommend.
16 October 2019 13:11
A unique little place. The night sky hike and the dark sky preserve was fun. If you're new to this experience, bring binoculars with you.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. And the whole park is clean and well kept. Especially the showers and bathrooms.
We can't wait to visit here again.
12 October 2019 21:09
Complete rip off. Stay anywhere else but here! Star gazing tour is an inside presentation! Complete con artists!
10 October 2019 12:44
Amazing experience. We were there the last weekend in August. The campground has a welcoming feel and lots to offer. There is mini put, a pool, showers, flush toilets, a small museum and several spots to do dishes. We never had time to take part in the mini put or the pool, but they looked great. The museum was a fun addition. The trails that are on site were great. We walked several and wound up at the meeting spot for a scout jamboree (pictures included). The camp sites were good sized and quite private too!
Overall it was a great time. We will be back.
01 October 2019 3:32
Clean and organised sites and amenities in beautiful surroundings. I highly recommend attending an Astronomy Night.
26 September 2019 11:35
Gorgeous night sky views but for the price the start cabin is now like Blare Witch Project vs cabin

No water no bed sheets pillows etc

No electricity
25 September 2019 17:24
Amazing experience. Friendly owners very accommodating. Our first night we were blessed with a clear sky. Clear views of the milky way from the Milky Way Bunkie. The sky on the dark sky preserve really does give you a 360 degree view of the sky. We saw 6 shooting stars combined just gazing at the sky for a short while. Of course mother nature is sometimes hard to predict so try and plan your trip around a clear sky. We also explored the trails on the property. The trails were well groomed while still maintaining the natural flow of the land. Mother Nature Trail takes you in a circle around a small lake. The true beauty of the trails is really expressed in the amount of diverse vegetation you can find at Gordon's Park. Make sure you grab a brochure of the map of Gordon's Park. Rita Gordon has a handcrafted map that tells you a little history about Gordon's Park and other activities you can do during your stay in Manoutoulin. In addition to the informative map, little fun fact sheets can be found throughout the different trails. Rocks can be found from the Niagara escarpment! Vegetation and rock fossils from coral reefs that existed 500 million years ago are evident if you take the Jim Guy Trail. Can't wait to go back! Don't forget your red light if you stay in the dark sky preserve to fully enjoy the night sky.
21 September 2019 3:01
We visited Gordon's Park for the first time during the Perseid Event in August and to try out astrophotography for the first time. I had booked the overnight stay via email and had requested a spot with more privacy as we planned to get up in the middle of the night for photos and didn't want to disrupt others. Site 40, although smaller than some of the other sites (especially with a large vehicle like ours), proved to be a great, more private spot and grew on us over our 2 night stay.

Although we didn't stay for the entire evening talk, we enjoyed the telescope experience led by staff and enjoyed the educational components too.

The main office/campground and the dark sky preserve campground are not one and the same. The dark park entrance is a just up the road off of Star Lane (which could be better signed from the road). The park is fairly open with few trees/shrubbery, but the sites are farther apart, which provides some privacy. The entire campsite has very little shade during the day, so come prepared with a large umbrella or other options for shade. There is a bbq and tools for guest use, which we used for our dinner rather than bringing our campsite bbq along - very convenient! The privys were always clean and well stocked with tp and sanitzer. We didn't take showers and swam instead, though I did inspect the shower area at the main office on our way out and they seemed clean and well-maintained.

After the moon sets, the sky is so clear and well worth the wait. We really enjoyed the experience overall and will definitely be visiting dark parks in the future!

P. S. If taking the Chi-Cheemaun ferry, make sure you book early and arrive early for boarding (1.5-2hrs prior). Just because you have a reservation doesn't mean you get a spot!
16 September 2019 21:53
It was a great place. The staff were great. Campsites in the forest area where we stayed were great. Enjoyed the tipi site as well. No beach, but the pool was a great. The place was kept clean. Our family enjoyed our 3 night stay.
15 September 2019 22:57
It was a nightmare. What a waste of Money and Time. We came here for Astronomy Night. Only one small equipment was working. The main experienced person was not here. The two guys Key and Andrew was just passing time by talking. Wish I get money back. Their lasier light was not even working. She said battery died. Not only that; no one directing us to get back to the parking lot. They were not letting us use LIGHT. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I hope they refund too. Please do not go to this place for Astronomy night. Horrible place. None of the equipment works
14 September 2019 23:17
Nice campground, clean but stinky pit outhouse, quiet, but a little too pricey for no service overnight stay.
10 September 2019 14:09
Our first trip to Manitoulin couldn’t have been better! Awesome campground with clean sites, washrooms, kitchen.everything! Very well maintained property especially for such a large area. Staff was amazing as well. I like the convenience of their kitchen, you don’t need to bring your portable bbqs and stoves. They even have one to use to boil water in, pots, pans etc. We enjoyed their Moonlight hike and wolf howl. Too bad it got cut short by thunderstorm (not the owners fault!). Location was great as well.less than an hour to providence bay, bridal veil, cup and saucer.
Will love to come back here next time! Thank you for making our stay pleasant!
20 August 2019 0:10
Loved this place and the kids thought the 20hr drive was well worth it. Was like a 35min drive to bridal veil falls. Highly recommend to go visit there while staying here.
19 August 2019 12:28
Super friendly staff, clean facilities and awesome amenities! The summer kitchen makes cooking and cleaning so much easier while camping! The solar heated pool and mini putt were an amazing added bonus to wind down from a day of adventuring!
20 January 2019 6:03
Beautiful place! The owner is super sweet and helpful. Our little family can't wait to go back! Hoping to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.
30 November 2018 23:49
Very well organized and the place is maintained well. Very good for amateur astronomers. One of the best dark sky preserve. Exceptionally dark
02 October 2018 6:20
This park is amazing if you’re into dar sky photography or like to watch the night sky. It’s the darkest spot in Ontario and helps a lot that they have a designated dark sky preserve where only red light is permitted. I’ve seen many meteors (in August when Persid peeks) as well as the northern lights here.
The staff are so friendly and helpful and the park is well kept. They sell firewood and ice, and have clean washrooms, showers, and a small pool.
They have regular and dark sky campsites, teepees, and cabins with beds (you’d still need a sleeping bag since it gets pretty cold at night). They also organize astronomy nights and star parties where they show you different constellations and tell you the story behind the names. You’ll learn how to navigate the sky and find the main objects.
21 September 2018 10:02
Most of the astronomy events (for which they charge a high price) never take place. The best example is their Northern Lights weekend. I’ve gone many time on my own to see the Northern Lights from this location. Despite a clear sky, never saw the Northern Lights. I have, however, seen them on random, non-Northern lights weekends. I’ve also been on a wolf howling expedition, for which they charge dearly. The only howls I heard came from humans imitating wolf howls. The wolf howl walk/Trail brings you to a man-manned lake, which they try to make impressive in their account and description of the lake, but really only looks a giant puddle in the middle of nowhere, ie it’s an artificial lake, with all of the consequences this entails. If you’re thinking of camping at the dark sky preserve on any of the advertised astronomy events, get ready for an overly packed, cramped camping area where you can literally hear conversations from neighbouring tents. Astronomy events are quite mediocre, especially when there’s lots of people. Their prices are getting unreasonably high.
27 August 2018 18:36
Great camp ground for families. Playground, mini golf, horseshoe pit, swimming pool, just to name a few things to keep kids occupied. Hiking trails are also available. We stayed in a teepee tent for 4 which had a raised wooden floor and foam mattresses. There's also in the common area a camp kitchen, flush toilets and eco-showers. All of this helped make our stay a pleasant one. Finally, they have a dark sky preserve which is simply fantastic. Darkest skies in Ontario without taking a plane up north and this preserve follows the no white light rule. Highly recommend this regardless if you are an astronomy buff or not. Thanks for a great experience!

Went here for astonomy night on Thursday. They are dishonest and a money grab. They charged me 20 dollars for my 1.5 year old. Paid 90 dollars plus tax for a family of 4. One being an infant. At that point I changed my mind about going. The girl at the reception assured us that its worth the money. She said they have few telescopes set up for the guests. Well when we got to the obserbetary area, there was one broken telescope. The staff apologized and said they can answer any questions we have instead. The view of the stars wasn't any different from the view from my camp site. When I asked for my money back because the telescope was broken the girl at the reception said there is no refund policy. Don't waste your money with this place. You can just look up at the sky from anywhere on the island for free and you'll get the exact same experience.

It might be more interesting for night hiking
We came here during daytime. To use the trail, we have to pay $7 + tax/person. I think this place might be more interesting for night hiking or you stay at B&B here. I did not know this place offers B&B otherwise, I would stay here. We saw a lot of RVs on the site, this place might be a good camping / RV site.
The staff is nice and the facility is incredibly clean. It has a summer kitchen which has bbq equipment and stove. However, you have to bring your own pots and utensils. The public washrooms are surprisingly super clean.
However, the trails are not that interesting. It feels like someone's backyard. Out of so many interesting trails in Manitoulin Island, I would not recommend this trail for day hiking. However, it might be more interesting for night hiking since it got a telescope along the trail to look at the sky. Also, there is not white light in the park, so hiking at night might be more interesting.
Besides hiking, this place has a park for young kids. So if you are coming with family, I do recommend here.
If you are staying on Manitoulin Island, I would recommend staying at B&B here or do a night hiking here.
