Taste was ok. But they need to work on the Cleanliness, ambience, lighting, sitting arrangements, Specially Washrooms. Overall its a very small place to dine and potentially unhygenic if not maintained well.
Employees are nice. Hygiene is very poor. Space is too congested and people dashing against one another. Food was cold stale. Gulab jamun had food pieces in syrup dudh pak was stale and mango ras was very watery.vegetables were very old and kadhi did not taste Gujarati at all. The chutneys were spoilt. Overall a very bad experience and will not go there again. Gujaratis are cleanest people and this place was very dirty and filthy and we travelled 4 hours for this place and got diarrhea after eating in this place. They need bigger place more man power and maintain this place to a restaurant level and quality in food industry
We ordered food for guests at my house for small events before my wedding in May 2023. We ordered a few times and we were shocked at how good the food was! The quantity was beyond amazing…it’s more than expected. Every single item was very flavourful. Geetaben was very friendly and helpful. My dad Rajul Shah says a special thanks as well!
We found this place by luck and decided to dine in. What tempered me to indulge in a Unlimited Gujrati Thali was the fact that these women make fresh Rotis, Methi Theplas, Puran Puri & Bajra Rotla in front of you and as per order. The rotis and Theplas were thin and so tasty. The idea of someone serving fresh hot roti straight from the gas is simply Devine and such a luxury. 5 Stars for that only! The variety and food was delicious. They had multiple starters or Farshan and 4/5 different types of vegetables/ bhaji and two types of dals along with Gujrati dahi kadi and then an array of desserts This was blissful indulgence! The food was prepared and served with so much warmth and love. The owner Bina ben along with all women crew run this amazing eatery. They sell snacks and Farshan too. Love the variety in the buffet and the fact that it’s unlimited. One can choose and pick according to their taste and preferences for a decent price. They have a more extensive menu in the weekends. We are and left buying some snacks for home. Being from Mumbai and having 90% friends all Gujrati I do miss the food.
A definite must for all who love and miss good authentic Gujrati food and hot freshly made rotis and Theplas. Omg can’t wait to go back again!
Best Gujarati and North Indian restaurant in Toronto. People come from far off places to eat. All dishes are good. Veg Thali was great with butter milk Lassi and Bajra roti.very reasonable prices. The only negative is it is a small shop and no was basin. But no big deal. How many small restaurants will have it? Can't get everything. I will go with family next time.
1. The lady that prepares rotis sat on the chair to tie her shoe lace (the shoes were extremely dirty) and went back to prepare rotis without cleaning her hands
2. The lady cleaned the table removing the left over food particles with a wet cloth and once again went back to food preparation.
3. I saw a customer using the same hand that she is eating with to self serve the food, told the owner, the owner didn't seem too concerned.
AVOID the place unless you want to be stricken with food poisoning
Food was okiesh. Food contains soda bi carb. Feels bloated after you finish the dinner. Server had a bit rude attitude. But the owner was very respectful and polite.
One of the most beautiful experience i've personally had for a very long time. It was feeling homely, such beautiful and courteous staff, simple but beautiful food. The best meal so far since april 2019
If you are craving for authentic gujarati good (homelike, no fancy food) then this is the go to place. Some really nice assortment of famous Gujju veg food. Go for their buffet, it's all worth the price and time!:)
I have heard that this place is serving really good food/buffet but unfortunately it didn’t match to my expectations because I went there at 7pm which was a dinner time and all food was too cold! Clearly suggesting NO for this restaurant! Never never never!
Worst experience…. They threw us out because someone already had reservations while we were giving order and as soon as they came … these guys literally asked us to leave. Such a worst place… No manners…. Didn’t even know how to serve their customers. Specially the lady at the counter she doesn’t know how to talk to their customers. Never been to such worst place. Will never recommend anyone.
I had lunch over there on 12th of September 2021, First of all, I will never ever visit that restaurant again. All are the dishes were like frozen. Majority of dishes were bad in taste, especially sweet dishes (Mango pulp and Rabdi) has some smell so I didnt ate that. Farsan items were not fresh, it seems they are storing all the things in refrigerator and serve as it is.
I only like ROTI, because it was freshly made over there. Rest you guys know all the things.
Overall, that visit have not justified the price CAD 18.
Will pay price but the quality should be supreme, especially when it comes to consuming something.
Worst customer service. There is no concept of first come first serve. Old lady (server) ignored me for 25 minutes and served customers coming after me. These customers and servers need to take some public manners classes
This is a wonderful place for Gujarati food. Delicious food with good variety. They serve fresh chapati and puranpoli. A Must visit for Gujrati food lover
Ordered 2 thalis for take out today. While having dinner at home, we found that Khichadi was stale and super smelly. This happened to me second time in a row. Last time when I bought food from here, one Sabji was stale Suggest you to sell only freshly cooked food and make sure to taste it before selling it. Its so embarrassing when you serve such food to guests.
Food is good if you have the patience to wait for a dine-in Takeout is not worth it for a long distance driver like me. (needed to travel 40+ kms one way). This food is good when piping hot.doesn't taste the same when warm or cold.
I would not recommend this gujarati restaurant for thali because owner/manager is full of attitude. I had plan to go with 26 people and asked the manager/ owner whats in the menu as I knew every day they change some items in menu. Manager told me that she does not have time to tell me whats in menu. I think they don't deserve business with this attitude.
I am a regular customer of Govardhan that. Serving our community since long. Food is yummy. Only drawback of the restaurant is waiting time. Please do something to avoid long ques, otherwise I have seen many customers walking away. Thank you.
I have read some negative reviews and the reviewers may have had their reasons. I don't want to discount other people's experiences. I am in the neighborhood and I have known this place and the owners for years. This place has never disappointed me. This is one place for authentic Indian food in Scarborough. I have ordered food multiple times and for various occasions. My family and guests have always appreciated the food - be it kathiawadi, dabeli, vada pav, or simple roti. I never felt that the quality or quantity was compromised. If you haven't, try their shrikhand. Also their dabeli compares to none other.
Food is fine, but their customer service is very bad, rude and impolite. And if the owner is not in restaurant then the service is even worse. They let us wait in the queue for almost 50mins for the order which usually takes 10-15 mins!
Good taste for reasonable price. Must try if you are craving for Gujarati food. The only down side I feel is the amount of oil they have in all their food. Tooooooooo much oil. Definitely not good for your health if planning to take Tiffin everyday. I had one large sabzi and removed almost 5-7 spoons of oil (may be more but not less). For taste: 5 For price: 5 For hygiene: 3.5 For health: 2
I purchased monthly tiffin coupon from this place and was disappointed for whole month. I found most of the subji's are NOT getting changed for days and they only change when it starts fading color or appears bad. I have personally asked them to change the subji container as I was clearly able to see bubbles on the subji was coming up as if it is decomposing and they agreed on that. Many times had a worst food which smelled really bad like garbage. Very unprofessional and rude staff. They need to go back to school and learn some basic manners. Zero cleanliness. Lots of other options are available in same area to have same kind of varieties at much better price and quality. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
Really bad food, I wanted to throw it in the dust bin. Customer service is very rude, talking badly about us among themselves the whole time. Place is very dirty. Price is very high.
Very fresh traditional Indian food! Clean preparation area, kind servers, and lots of variety.
If you are not familiar with the Thal dishes, just order a platter off the menu and they will take care of you. The samosas and chapatis are top notch.
If you are vegan it may be hard to decipher which items have ghee in them, but you can order chapati and many other items without dairy.
Heard a lot about this restaurant and ordered takeout. But was not happy about it at all. Ordered 2 thalis and vadapau n some dabeli. Nothing was good at all. I know Gujrati food is sweet but this was over sweet. Vada pau had no taste. The Pau baji in the thali was having smell which means potatoes were bad. We also got kachori which too had smell. So I m so disappointed. Will never go back.
Food taste is okay not extra ordinary. The customer service offered by the lady at the counter who also happens to be the owner is extremely nasty and worse. She treats her staffa nd customers so bad that I would never visit this place again in my life. The staff really needs to approach to Ministry of Labour for the harrassment the owner lady does to her staff.
Amazing service from them. Oh my god! Delicious items, cheaper price and Great menu. Felt like back to Gujarat. Still remember those words of aunty. Take one more roti.feels like home.
The food is fine, but their customer service is absolutely disgraceful. The youngest one working the counter (I believe its the owner's daughter) is extremely rude to the customers and her own cooks (who are over twice her age and working very hard). The place is extremely unclean and unhygienic, which is something they should be extra cautious about considering the ongoing pandemic.
The place is unclean and the people working there hardly have any manners to talk. Some are still fine to talk but they normally ignore what customers say and do what they want. The food is always stale, anything involving potato or their Undhiyu is non trustable.
Dont trust the freshness as nothing is fresh and they serve something which is made 2/3 days in advance.
Putting one star because of getting stale food for 4/5 visits i made.
They are not following any rules of government of Canada. Customer service is worst you have ever had. No mask on customer’s face but still they are offering food. No glows are used by staff and they have too much dirty masks which they all time. Staff is wearing mask on CHIN (everyone). If you want to get covid they are always open.
Very very tasty and Authentic Gujarati thali, the ladies are working very hard and I really appreciate their job of what they giving on the plate. Ambience can be remodule but least interested if you hot food in one plate, definitely I would love to visit again with my family.
Good for a Thali. This is a pure vegetarian restaurant serving indian food from the gujarat region of india. The thali (plate) comes with a choice of 2 vegetables, Dal (lentils) and 4 chapati (whole wheat bread). There are various other sweets and savoury treats/snacks to try at a cheap price. A must go if you want to try Indian food from Gujarat.
Aatma shanti aapnaru jamvanu The food the get the soul of a gujju or even a North Indian rejuvenated Donot forget to try their mango nectar also thepla
Disgusting. Worst customer service. It was 8.50 pm and i just wanted sabji but still the owner's daughter was so rude and said no I can't give you anything and she didn't have rotis but she could have asked that do you want only dal rice or sabji. But she straight away refused to give anything. I would never suggest anyone this restaurant.
This place is very unhygienic. The washroom is located next to the store room where all the grains and food material is there. It is so narrow that 2 people can't walk side by side. They cook right in front of you and I saw a lady heat up a plastic bowl in the microwave for 5 minutes. I never heat up anything in plastic because it can leach in your food! The only saving grace was that the food is tasty but I don't want my family to eat it knowing that it could have some plastic leached into it!
Very smelly, washrooms are worst I ever seen in Canada, they talk over the phone at the cash for a long time ignoring me.very irritating! And food? Very oily.
