Great Lakes Museum

I don't understand how the museum could be closed during the Christmas holiday. This is limiting greatly the opportunity to make this place known by the local public as well as visitors to Kingston. What a waste.

Actually, it wasn't open, so I went to see the Keewatin.
I was a passenger on her when I was a lot younger!
I'm looking forward to onboard tours.

SS Keewatin in Kingston is a great addition to the Great Lakes Museum. It's definitely a must-see!

Went for the Halloween kids event. They had a craft table, face painting and pumpkin curving. The big ship was a bonus to see. Very friendly and nice stuff. Not a lot to do for the kids unless there’s an event; an exhibition rather than museum. Very neat models though. Worth visiting if you’re a pirate from the high seas!

We had a great experience at the museum! Knowledgeable, passionate and friendly staff! Our guide was able to answer all our questions thoroughly and add extra local history facts to each answer! We also got to hear about the steps the museum is taking to tie in the new STEM curriculum and their plans to reopen their physical archive.

Nice little museum dedicated to the navy, managed and looked after by volunteers who willingly explain what is on display.

Unexpected surprise! We were passing by and decided to give it a try and oh yes we loved it. Museum itself is not big but they have quests! Like 6 or maybe even 8 different lines of quests! The one with the toolkit bag was really great (although you need to pay extra, but it worth it)! Many paintings and drawings showing the actual life of people in the sea by the artists who witnessed it all with their own eyes. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend this museum!

An interesting place to visit. It takes about and hour to an hour and half to see if you take your time.

Barely anything in there and poor signage. Lots of empty space… Some items had no description either.

I give you five stars for your recent acquisition of the SS Keeweenaw! She is a beautiful ship which used to reside down the street from my home near Saugatuck Michigan. She’s definitely a beauty And I’m so happy she will be well cared for.

Wonderful little museum with plans to grow. Will definitely go back to see how they have expanded.
