Guelph General Hospital

"182-bed facility with a total staff of about 1600"... And all the staff get there by 9am and completely fill the parking lot. Patients and families are left slowly circulating in the parking lot waiting for someone leaving. Moreover, this hospital KNOWS they have a parking problem. Simple solution is to separate staff parking from patient parking... But GGH administration has always been focused on itself.

Some of the staff were disrespectful and didn’t take my condition seriously. I waited +6 hours to be told I am completely fine.

Horrible for waiting, been going to this this hospital since living in Guelph for almost 20 years and almost every time we have to wait hours for someone to check you. My wife went there she had a lot of pain and almost 6 hours waiting for someone to check her. I remember my mom screaming in pain before and same thing! This hospital are always "short on staff" or there's only "one" doctor in the whole hospital. That's insane!

Had an MRI scheduled for late June, 2024, so put myself on the cancelation list yesterday. A very friendly voice called this morning to explain that they'd had a cancelation and was I available. Happy to get this out of the way and ecstatic to have been treated so professionally and courteously by the staff.

Had a good experience with caring staff. Had a mammogram and staff Julie and Diana were so kind and caring. Thank you for a positive appointment!

Went in for a abcess that st.marys hospital ignored and sent me away horrible and lazy doctor didn't wanna deal with it but went in to G. G. H E. R and the wait was decent but then I met Dr.chang and he right away diagnosed it and even said that doctor was wrong but he did an amazing job treating it and after care advice plus he was very nice and gentle. Amazing experience can't be thankful enough that he was the one to treat me

Been here twice. The first time, it wasn't too bad of a wait. I went as a patient of Stonehenge Therapeutic Community, which is an inpatient rehab facility and they of course wanted me to keep them up-to-date on what was happening to make sure I was really there. STC told me that the hospital would let me use their phone while there if I explained where I was staying, but unfortunately the nurses told me no. So did the security. The second time I went, the wait was HOURS long. I went while the emergency room was a trailer, just shortly after COVID hit. It was very annoying, however, I understand the long waits and not letting people use their phones. I just didn't appreciate the way I was told no.

More likely to spend your whole day waiting to see a Dr for 2 second for them to just tell you to see your family doctor

This hospital has got to be the most unorganized an dirty looking place I’ve been. Nursing staff are rude as can be I’d go anywhere else but this place again!

Today I spent some time at Guelph General H. Having some mantenuti issues resolved it was buisey for a Sunday or enjoy day. The staff and was very helpfu and followed up on everything needit. Especially Dr. Cameron.she took the time to eliminate all possibility

I would have given 0 stars if there was option of 0 star.this hospital issssss suckkkk.i went there, my wrist was bleeding, they made me wait like 6 hours, then i just went too home.next morning i got 9 stitches.my father always has pain on his chest, but theseee mf doctor been saying he is alr.dont play with pplll.

Broken mental health system and they make horrible comments, wouldn't recommend unless you have a real emergency not a good place to be.

The nurses are truly amazing and will help you the best they can under the stresses they are dealing with.however, medical malpractice is in the lifeblood of the er doctors here.whatever you and the nurses tell them about your medical situation goes in one ear and out the other, and ultimately they will do whatever the hell they want, leaving you with a injury that’s 5x worse than what you had when you went in.

I have had 8 admissions to GGH over the past 17 years. The last 4 admissions have been over the past 4 years. At this time, I have witnessed the lowest staff moral expressed without exception by paramedics, doctors, staff and nurses. They express a unanimous lack of confidence in administration and policy. In light of these conditions, I cannot admire the nurses for their perseverance to accommodate and make patients as comfortable as possible. I do not know if the situation is politically created or incompetence, but it desperately needs to be resolved.

I have a LOT of health issues & they can be very busy but when I come here they look at everything that is going on ie: liver, kidney, etc. It makes a person feel special. I can not get over the amount of PSW’s.that are working here now. It really makes a difference when you can cry to someone & feel like they heard you. That’s what happened today& this PSW actually had time to talk to me & I shed a few tears & it helped so much considering I’m a talker. They have stepped up there game & even the cleaning was so much better than 5 years ago.

Me and my little brother went to this exact same hospital because he had a leg injury that certainly needs a surgery within the visible eye as the kneecap just dramatically gets swollen by time and goes away for a while and we waited for (+4hours) as expected only to be told that he should check his symptons on the internet
Such an ignorant behaviour from ignorant people with all respect for the hardworkers there tho

Went to visit a friend, ampull paying parking and close to Main entrance. Surprised to see masking was opsonable but once on the floor masks required.
No surprises.just glad I was visiting.

I got taken to emergency because of chest pains a few days ago.
Luckily it wasn't serious, but the paramedics, the nurses, and the doctor that looked after me were all excellent, professional, and friendly.
Not my favorite place to go, but it helps when there is such a high quality of staff on hand.

Nurses have terrible bedside manner, act annoyed when you need assistance, and give out medical advice that directly contradicts the doctors.

Worst hospital ever. My mother broke a bone in her foot a couple months ago and they told her it wasn't a big deal and that she just shouldn't step on the broken bone (they didn't give her a cast or anything to help). For months she was VERY careful with her broken bone, then a couple months later, they did another x-ray and my mother noticed that her bone got worse even though she never stepped on it, now they're are telling her that she needs surgery (they should've gave her SOMETHING to help it heal). I do not recommend this hospital.

I brought my son to this hospital when he had a fever, hoping for medical attention. However, both the nurse and doctor advised me not to bring him with just a fever and sent us home. Two days later, my three-year-old son was clearly in pain and still had a fever. I decided to bring him back to the hospital, hoping for better assistance, but unfortunately, we faced the same disrespectful treatment from the doctor and nurse. They insisted that I take him to a pediatrician and told me to wait for 30 days.

I was adamant about getting my son the immediate care he needed and insisted on him being seen the next day. Finally, we were able to see a pediatrician who quickly recognized the severity of the situation. They made a shocking statement, saying, "This boy doesn't need a pediatrician, he needs a surgeon. " It turned out that his appendix had burst, leading to an infected abdomen. My son's life was in grave danger, and he was fortunate to survive. Thanks to "SICK KIDS HOSPITAL" in Hamilton, he is healthy and happy today.

I cannot help but express my disappointment and frustration with the Guelph General Hospital. The level of care and attention provided by the medical professionals there was severely lacking. It pains me to say that taking my child to a veterinary clinic would have likely resulted in better care than what we received at this subpar hospital. Their negligence and dismissive attitude almost cost my son his life
