I recently dined at Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ with my girlfriend, and it was a fantastic experience. The quality of the meat was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly, adding a warm touch to the evening. The interactive and engaging cooking experience made our dinner memorable. Highly recommend for a delightful time with delicious food.
Visited in from PA and by far one of the best BBQ spots we ate at! Food, Service, and Atmosphere were all 5 out of 5! Would highly recommend it if you're in the area.
The host was rude, I was just asking if they still do the all you can eat menu since it is on the website and all of a sudden he gave me attitude. The food was great but I wish they had the all you can eat menu
Bought a cake over for a fd's birthday, asked if they can serve it when we finish the food, they said yes no problem. When food were done, they brought out the cake in the packaging box, and just put it on the table but not serving it l, like nothing happened. Ruin the surprise for my friend and why you doing this. If you can't serve it, should have just let me know.
Stumbled upon this restaurant on our family trip to Toronto. We ordered the meat lovers for 2 and it was amazing. Staff was amazing. Food was even better. Highly recommend!
A lot of people will be tempted to do a “preset menu”. Don’t. We took advantage of the happy hour pricing on some of their meats. We chose what we wanted and got just as much food as the preset bundles and saved money.
We started with the spicy cucumber which was a big hit. The gyoza was good. Not amazing but nice.
We really enjoyed the “BBq Booster” meats. The best was the ribeye
Total bill was around 80 with tax and tip and we left stuffed.
I really like their dishes. I always get great service there. The place is well organised and the staff members are always super nice. I highly recommend this place.
Delicious! Make sure to skip the wait by making a reservation ahead of time. Service is extremely friendly. Food is mouthwatering. We got the Meat Lovers dinner for two, they bring it out in portions (only took one pic because the bf devoured the other before I had a chance to take the second). Knowing you can only get real Kobe beef in Japan, we decided to also try the Kobe meats on their menu. They were okay - would probably skip on those next time since the other things on their menu are already so good.
I grew up in Tokyo going to Gyukaku like every week and I was probably more excited about the Toronto location opening more than the owners themselves! I enjoy both dine-in experience and takeouts. It’s good for a variety of occasions ranging from work lunch meetings, bites-and-drinks and birthdays. Their fried rice is comparable to (IMO actually better than) Kasa Moto’s. Super friendly and helpful staff too.
This site is my number one place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this restaurant.everytime I feel like having a superb dinner, this place comes straight to my mind.extremely good and all kinds of food and a large list of dishes.professional team, and good spirit. In addition to that, the expence is fair. I suggest this restaurant with no doubt.
The place offers a great range of delicious food. I liked dining here. The employees are always very welcoming, prices are convenient and the spot is always kept clean.
Good food. The gyu-bbq bento box is recommended. For now, all dining in service are cancelled, so only take out is possible. Orders have to be called ahead
Food: The presentation of the dishes were amazing, They also tasted amazing. The meat is very tender and lovely. Although the quantity of meat on some of the dishes wasn't as much as I expected for the price.
Seating: The wait time for a seat wasn't unbearable, but it was longer than I would've liked. The aesthetics of the seats kind of goes along with the Japanese “feel” with the wooden benches and the lattice separators in between each table.
Grill: The grill a little bit of a pain to use. The meat kept sticking onto the grill and it had to be replaced due to the amount of blackness that had accumulated on it. The oil that the waitress put on the grill wasn't enough to stop the meat from sticking
Service: The waitress only came every once in a while. I expected more staff from a restaurant that’s so popular. After a while, There was a pile of plates on our table, and considering there wasn't a lot of space on the table, It took up a bit of space, making it hard to get some of the food on and off the grill. Also there was a very strong smell of BBQ and fumes from cooking meat.
Meat is of high quality and the variety quite intriguing. Service has been always nice and the ambiance great. However, I feel like Gyukaku is only one of the many so-called "Japanese bbq" joints that shamelessly call themselves Japanese when in fact they're soaking their meats in bulgogi and kalbi marinade.
Japanese BBQ at its finest! The app is worth getting and Happy Hour is the best. Only miss was, our karage was under done but that was just one time. I recommend this place to everyone!
Been here multiple times and it's quite delicious. The price is higher than other bbq places but the meat is top quality! Their lunch special is good value.
Personally my favorite spot in the city for do it yourself Korean/Japanese style bbq. Meat is of good quality. Service is always great, restaurant always has good promotions going on. Also like the drink selection here.
Fantastic concept, good meat, good service. We did not feel that we waited too long for food once we were seated at the table. Our server kept bringing something or the other at our table. We got the platter for 4. Highly recommend this place!
A couple of friends and I came to have dinner here last night around 8: 20pm. The staff at the front wouldn’t seat us because apparently they can only seat customers by a cut off time of 8pm and last call is at 9pm. They informed the cut off seating time is in place because they apparently have keep the noise down for the tenants who live upstairs. Well news flash, these tenants should have known what they were signing up for when choosing to live above a restaurant and that there would be indefinite noise until closing time. For example, In most condo buildings non-excessive noise is tolerated until 11pm. Does this not apply to you? Anyway, this is a very poor way to run a business. It’s really sad because we were actually really looking forward to trying this place. So for anyone looking to eat here, get there before 8pm or you won’t be seated.
The chruch street location is always busy and hard to find a place during weekends as no bookings are accepted but weekdays is good enough if you book it on time. Food is excellent and the service is also great and worth it but little expensive for the portion and offers are good too if you install their app and collect reward points for each visit!
