Gyubee Japanese Grill

It was quite busy when we arrived, we had to wait around 30 minutes to be seated, but it was worth the wait. The food was promptly provided and it was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was a little noisy, but I believe that is part of the genuine experience of a Japanese Grill. Anyone who has interest in the Asian cuisine experience should definitely make a visit!

Sherry is a great, we ordered a couple times and quite a bit of food, and she was very patient in taking them and never got a single order run.

I wasnt used to the waitlist reservation system. Our table was actually ready before their estimate so we hustled to get there. Fortunately they held it for us maybe because we got there by the initial estimated time. There were many people waiting at the entrance. The food: we normally dont get ayce but this was excellent quality meat. Everything was tender and tasty. Beef and lamb all had great marinades. Chicken was good. Sausages were fantastic. Shrimp was fresh. Sidedishes were great to refresh the palate. The lychee and peach mojitos were decent. Yuzu Sawa had an amazing flavour but too sweet. If you like sweet citrus drinks, definitely try it. Their creme brulee is very good. They also have ice cream bars that the kids liked.

Feels like an authentic Japanese place, and the service is top notch from my experience there. It is a grill it yourself style place, but you can easily make yourself full in the first hour of the two you are allotted.

The servers are amazing, and the food is top quality no matter what you order and comes out quick as long as they aren't too swamped.

My only gripe was the lack of anything beyond soy sauce (though it's a light version perfect for the foods you are eating) and chili powder spice mix. Beyond that, the meats and everything I ate was of amazing quality. I will be coming again.

My goodness, I've been out to a few Korean BBQ places but I've never gone out for Gyubee. From the moment I walked in and noticed they had atmospheric music instead of the top 100 I knew I was in for a treat. How the place operates is incredibly efficient too, with a kitchenette in the back where they can prepare sides of lettuce, the creme brulees, kimchi, and I'm sure much more. Then the kitchen can focus on the cuts of meat and warm items, which were all fantastic and served promptly. Also the staff must be held to a high standard dress code. Everyone was clean cut and well dressed, I felt like I was in a painting of the perfect Korean BBQ restaurant.

My first time here. Great fast service. Food was awesome. Well worth the price. Planning another visit soon!

The experience was very bad and the attitude of the waiter was very bad. The special beef short ribs also had an off-flavor.

Really love it, high quality of the ingredients and really great customer service, you also have a wide selection of ingredients, but I think it would great idea if every table have a tablet for orders. Just reminds you guys during the weekend make sure you book an appointment otherwise you gonna waited for couple of hours!

Kudos to the long-awaited Gyubee coming to Ottawa! I’ve been to their Toronto stores many times and they never disappoint. This store is no exception — quality meat and excellent service. Hands down the best bbq place in town!

The food here is reassuring, not only delicious but also very fresh. La nourriture ici est rassurante, non seulement délicieuse mais aussi très fraîche. Seuls les aliments frais n'ont pas besoin d'être trop cuits, et seule une simple torréfaction est nécessaire pour mettre en valeur le goût original des ingrédients! Le prix n'est pas cher, et le service du serveur est très bon! Ottawa a besoin d'un savoureux barbecue, merci!

Thx Jessie Jessie Jessie provide the best service to us, we are a group of people and she’s so cute also handled us very well! If you really have huge stomach I suggest you better put the reservation before 7pm since they take the last call around 9: 30, even though they close at 10: 30Lol. But is called Gyubee so the best Japanese barbecue for the whole Ottawa. Really hope this city will have more real restaurants in the future.

Best Japanese bbq in town. Our server Ken is just so sweet and considerate. He instructed how to get the best taste out of the different dishes patiently. His passion about the food made my day.
And the food here are great as well. You can’t find any bbq restaurant has food as fresh as this one in whole Ottawa. 5 stars. Mainly to the server.

I went to Gyubee for lunch with a couple of friends on the first day it opened, and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is at the same time very modern but also very comfortable. The servers, greeters, and even the cooking staff were extremely welcoming and nice, and the service was top notch even though they were quite busy. They were very attentive, even bringing a new grill for the BBQ before we had to ask.

They are quick to bring out whatever you ask for from the menu. They way it works is you have a set price, and a long list of things you can order, and you order various raw meats and seafood and grill it yourself on a grill in the centre of the table. There are lots of other options as well other than just the meat, and it makes the BBQ experience much more customer friendly and straightforward than other AYCE BBQ places in Ottawa.

As someone who loves Japanese food, I can also confirm that the food is seasoned very well (and if you prefer more garlic or sesame you can easily order it) and the cuts of meat are great. I can't really find much fault with this new Byward restaurant, and I'll be returning often.

This is my second visit，although the restaurant only opened less than a week. The most important thing about eating barbecue is the quality of the meat and the seasonings, and they did very good jobs on both, especially the seasonings. Besides, the servers are friendly and patient. In we first time visit, we were served by a girl named Ivie, who was very patient and friendly.because it was first time visit, we took a long time to order, Ivie was very patient, and explained everything to us. Today, a girl named kaia served us. Although the restaurant was busy, she was able to help us in time. In generally, I m very satisfied. I will bring my friends to visit again. It is recommended to invite friends to join us. The restaurant only accepts reservations for more than 6 people.

Best Grill I ever had, Joe and Vincent are super nice, they took good care of us, very considerate and friendly. The food there are amazing, definitely will be a restaurant must to go in Ottawa.

The wait time for a seating is long, but definitely worth it! I really like the grill pineapple and beef short ribs (Kalbi). All the side dishes are delicious. Creme Brulee is my favorite dessert. Can't believe I finished 4 of them. >_< Highly recommended for anyone! I definitely will come back again.

When you come in to the lobby, no one even notice you and you don’t know how long you have to wait, this is ridiculous

Service here was excellent, orders came out really quickly and they didn't forget any orders. The portions are kind of small so make sure you order plenty. Most items are ordered per piece instead of per plate. They only take reservations for parties of 6 of more. When we went on a Wednesday night I heard them say the wait time for walk-ins was 2 to 3 hours

My friends and I made the phone call over 30 times today wanna book a reservation for a friend party, they never pick up the phone at least once. It was toooooo awful service for a restaurant!

Best BBQ place in town, hands down. The cuts are high quality, well marinated, and extremely delicious. Service is great! If you don't know what to order, Vincent is your guy.

I will definitely come back again.
