I was so anxious going into this appointment and omg ive never been happier with a haircut.genuinely everything about this was incredible, and i felt so much more comfortable than i was expecting to and now also have amazing hair!

Ryan has cut my hair a few times, and they've always done an excellent job at listening to my requests and giving me what I wanted. Very friendly, and would recommend to anyone.

I hadn't been to a salon in about 12 years and this is the first time I've grown my curly out to about shoulder length. I needed it shaped and Juliana was AMAZING! She did exactly what I asked for and was so gentle and so precise with her cut and styling. I'm extremely happy with the result! Thank you!

This place is a money grab. They will try to pressure you into their MOST expensive hair colouring services even after you told them you did not want to many times. Rude employees.

Was visiting from Toronto and wanted to get my hair styled for a formal event. Ryan styled my hair perfectly. Also had a wonderfully relaxing wash and scalp massage. The energy of the salon is so welcoming and friendly.

I had an appointment with Kyle back in November and I am extremely happy with the results! The haircut he gave me works perfectly with my natural hair and I barely have to do any styling, if at all. He was also super friendly and professional at the same time. He recommended me a hair product that I now use all the time. Overall Kyle was amazing and I will be returning for my next haircut!

For some reason, my hair is deceptively difficult to cut. And I’ve kissed a lot of frogs finding a stylist who can work with it and make it look its best. Emma does that incredible job every time. Moreover, she creates the warmest, safest, most fun space while she’s at it! I travel a lot, and move almost as frequently, but I’ll tell you now: the appointments might be further apart, but whether I’m in living elsewhere in Canada or around the world, I will travel to Emma. She’s *that* good!

I'll definitely be coming back - Juliana was amazing with my curly hair needs and I feel like I learned a little about how to better take care of it. She was totally right about doing longer layers to start and then later if I feel like it I'll switch to some shorter for more volume.

I've never had a curly haircut before but Juliana brought my vision to life! I never knew my hair could have so much volume and body. I love my new hair and Juliana!

After a not very good experience at another salon, I decided to give Hair Junkie a try. And I'm glad I did. From the moment I started talking to Leah, I knew my gibberish explanation for what I wanted was captured and that I would be in good hands. She knew how to handle my thin hair and natural blonde colour spectacularly, was honest about what would work and what wouldn't provided suggestions on what to do to protect my hair etc.and was just overall such a pleasure to work with. She's a great conversationalist too, and made the whole experience pleasing. I walked out a thoroughly satisfied customer on all accounts! Thank you!

Grace is the absolute best! Our consultation went really well. I so appreciate her kindness, patience, and happy demeanor. She walked me through everything so i felt comfortable before going ahead. Our appointment to dye the hair is coming up next week and I have 100% confidence in her, i know its going to look great. She is extremely talented:)

The Hair Junkie was my first hair experience in Ottawa. I had to relocate here last fall due to unfortunate circumstances. I was concerned I would not be accepted coming from a small community. I felt incredibly comfortable for my entire experience. My hair was taken care of and looks incredible. I highly recommend this establishment and I am incredibly grateful I chose this team to take care of my hair! The only thing I wasn’t aware of was that tips came in cash only and that a mask was required which is something that could be communicated to first time customers before arrival.

I will forever continue to see Grace. She took my hair from nightmare to beautiful and luxurious. She is also very knowledgeable in what your hair needs. Needles to say I left today feeling great! Thank you Grace! And see you soon!

Grace managed to create a wedding look for me that I absolutely loved, despite not giving her much guidance. Somehow she took my handful of suggestions and turned it into something totally beautiful! The only downside thing was that I had to recurl my hair after about 3 hours. Grace tried very hard to set the curls but that's just how my hair is! Regardless, Grace chose an up-do that would look good all night, even if the curls mostly came out.
Oh and she was also a joy to chat and banter with during the time it took to do my hair. I'll absolutely be coming back to Grace for my regular haircuts from now on!

Absolutely fantastic hair salon. Staff are welcoming and my stylist Midg, was positively fantastic. They listened to my needs and gave me a hairstyle I just love.

To be honest I don't have a lot to share because I have not yet used their services. What I will tell you is the welcome I received at reception and the general feeling I got was very positive. If I do end up choosing to get my haircut and styled there I will update this review.

Absolutely love Hair Junkie, and Leah, my stylist! They are always so kind and organized, and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Leah always takes the time to check in during the cut and style - making sure that everything is exactly how you wanted it, which I really appreciate as someone with very thick hair! Could not recommend them as a salon enough, and Leah as a stylist!

After 2 years of not really doing anything for my hair, I decided to go in for a style change. It was Kyle's first day cutting hair here, and he was absolutely amazing! He made sure I was comfortable and was really lovely. Everyone was so welcoming and super kind. Couldn't recommend Hair Junkie enough.

The receptionist was lovely and she was able to book me in for a same day appt with Leah! I would definitely recommend booking with her. She's a great hair stylist, very kind and was able to wash, cut and style my hair in a timely matter. Great people, great atmosphere

I have dry curly hair and have experienced a couple of disasters at other hair salons. I specifically asked for a stylist at Hair Junkie who knew curly hair, and was not disappointed. I left with a great cut and a nice purple streak in my grey hair. My stylist gave me lots of great tips about caring for my hair. All of the staff were polite and professional. The salon is very clean and follows all COVID protocols. I highly recommend it!

I went for a haircut and it was absolutely horrible! It's been two months and I still cant style my hair in any way to make it look even a little presentable. My "face framing" pieces are WAYYY too thick way too long it's so bad I went to another salon and they laughed at how bad it was and encouraged me to get a refund cause it's just unacceptable. I highly suggest not going here unless you're hoping to look like something from a horror film.

This is the third salon I've been to get a flattering cut for my wavy/curly hair and this is the first time I actually love what I got. Midg did an excellent job! They fully considered what I wanted (i.e. Maintaining length) and gave me lots of advice and tips on how to style and take care of my hair. It was very clear that they're well-versed in curly hair and I'm looking forward to my next appointment.

As always, the experience from arrival to departure, is personalised and "one of kind". I always enjoy my "relaxing getaway" in the hands of the very talented Liz. The whole team is very professional and welcoming, and it’s always a pleasure to go to Hair Junkie. Thank you!

The best salon I've ever been to! The atmosphere is super warm and friendly, and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about hair (curly included!). Highly recommend Ashley, she's funny and a total hair wizard!

My usual hairdresser was on vacation, so after doing a little research I decide to book an appointment with Midg for a haircut. They were so wonderful and fun to talk with, and I had such a great time getting my hair done by them! If I ever need an emergency-haircut again I'll for sure be back. I recently had my hair cut by Midg and it was the best salon experience I’ve ever had. Midg was very kind and her knowledge of curly hair was refreshing. They recommended a hair cut that complemented my natural hair texture and offered tips that were realistic to incorporate into my daily routine. I have been here twice to get a haircut and a luxury kerastase treatment and so far everything has been great. The staff is nice and friendly. Also they seem well prepared for their job, every time I go home with I really soft and pretty hair. They also sell the products they use, so you can keep taking care of your hair at home. I’ll definitely recommend everyone to come here, you will not be disappointed.

Update: I went back again for another haircut, my stylist was Midge and I gotta say I fell in love with the results. She really knows what she is doing. I’ll definitely come back to get my haircut and treatment with her

I'm telling you now - do not go anywhere else to get your hair done! Hair Junkie is amazing on all fronts - and when you leave, you look and feel like a movie star. Staff are professional yet friendly and fun, and really know their stuff. When I walked in, I only had a rough idea of what I wanted. Leah made great suggestions, and I walked out with EXACTLY what I didn't know I wanted - but was absolutely perfect. Repeat customer for life!

Hair Junkie is a professional and well run salon and stringent on all COVID 19 protocols to keep staff and clients safe. I am also very impressed by their recycling and environmental initiatives as even the hair, foils and leftover colour are all recycled. The stylists are talented and the staff are friendly. The salon is also a member of the Safe Space Alliance an LGBTQI+ org dedicated to businesses that have demonstrated they are a safe space. I highly recommend Hair Junkie to anyone looking for a great hair service!

I had the best experience getting my haircut with Midg! I was not sure what to expect when I showed them the reference photos, but I was surprised at how accurately they replicated what I wanted. Midg made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and took the time to explain what they were doing at each step of cutting my hair. I would recommend them to anyone who has thick and wavy hair like mine - I didn't think I could go to such a short pixie cut, but I'm so glad I came to this salon to get it done. Definitely visiting again in the future!

I just had my hair done here for the first time! My hair was cut by Emma and I had a great experience. They have tons of covid protocols in place which is awesome! I will definitely get my hair cut here again!

Liz was fabulous, and so attentive to my hair profile and knew just what to do. She is very knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to long thick hair! My hair looks and feels so amazing, best cut I’ve had in years and years.

So I was very hesitant about writing a review because usually I don't like to complain. But what they did to my hair hasn't grown on me and for the price I paid, I think this overdue. So almost 2 weeks ago I went in after the stylist I originally wanted cancelled last minute on me. So I had to call them back and asked them for a solution since they didn't offer me one. They gave me another person for the same week. I told her I wanted blonde balayage and curtain bangs. When she went to work on my hair, I immediately noticed she wasn't doing balayage but regular foil highlights since that's what I've been getting done on my hair for over a decade. But, I didn't say anything. Then when she went to cut my bangs, she just cut them straight across, something I could've done myself. She did not do curtain bangs. All this came up to almost $450. I paid that much for something I didn't ask for. My receipt says that I paid for balayage but I got brassy highlights! I've been dyeing my hair blonde for over 10 years and never had such brassy hair. She clearly rushed the whole process. I'm very unsatisfied with my experience here and will not be coming back unless I'm guaranteed the stylist I like. If I'm going to throw $450 down the drain, I better make sure I like my hair 110%. Anyway, moral of the story, just be patient and wait for the stylist you know and trust.

I went to this salon in early march just to get the underneath of my hair dyed pink. My experience in the salon was great however, after the salon I began having issues. Where my hair was dyed, I have seen significant breakage and damage on my hair and this has never happened to me before. I have dyed my hair numerous times at multiple salons and never had this issue. Now, the hair that was dyed has broken off and is way shorter than the rest of my hair. I reached out the hair junkie team in an email following this and my email was never responded to. Sooo disappointed with my experience here and how much money I spent just to have my hair fall out.

Had a really nice experience with Grace and highly recommend her to anyone with curly and/or dry and damaged hair.

Ashley gave me a new style that I like a lot. I had a positive experience and only feel bad that I didn't figure out how to tip before going and then forgot to ask (I will tip extra next time!)

I wouldn’t book here ever again, the customer service was awful when i realized that they didn’t do my hair correctly, they didn’t answer my emails with my concerns and wouldn’t take me in again, I PROMISE you can find better! They don’t care about their customers clearly

I have been on the hunt for a hairdresser in Ottawa who can cut my curly hair. I had truthfully went to 2 other salons before Hair Junkie and left those 2 appointments disappointed, but then I discovered Hair Junkie. They are incredibly professional, kind/friendly, incredibly clean and go above and beyond. Not only was my haircut amazing/perfect but the entire experience from start to finish was incredible. They are an amazing team of people, but if I had 1 complaint it would be I wasn’t told ahead of time that they are currently only accepting cash tips. I wish I new so I could’ve been prepared. Other than that, absolutely amazing. I will definitely be returning.

I had a fabulous experience at Hair Junkie and will for sure return. I chose to go to Midge because I have curly hair and I saw they have completed curly hair training. Midge was fantastic. They listened to me and really took the time to talk through what I wanted and discuss what would work with my hair. They were very friendly and fun to chat with.
They were also very well informed about what types of products and care routine would benefit my hair type, taking into account the fact that I spend minimal time styling my hair ;)
I would recommend Midge to anyone, especially if you want a safe, creative and relaxed experience.
Originally when I looked at HairJunkie’s Instagram page, I was a little hesitant because most pics I saw featured elaborate hair colours or long straight/smooth haircuts. I didn’t see a lot of curly or textured hair, but I liked the gender-neutral prices and the fact that Midge had taken curly hair training so decided to give it a try. Happy that I did.
The salon itself was really nice, spacious, clean and following all COVID protocols.
