Hair of the dog is my go to place in the village. Nothing fancy but it’s always reliable, and comfortable.

But OMG the tall blonde bearded waiter had such a booming voice it hurts my ears and it’s a small space with low ceilings.

Sorry buddy, you are lovely but you make my ears bleed.

I usually don't write a negative review. I ordered spicy food and it was not at all spicy the quantity was less so during checkout, I skipped the tip part and while leaving, the server stopped and asked to leave a tip next time if I revisit that wasn't expected at all!

Cute spot, good food and a good selection of drinks.
Wish they didn't play run of the mill early 2000-2010 pop music. For me the music really pulled me away from the atmosphere of the decor.
I'm going to go again because there's so much potential for charm.

The guys from Arlntrim make's the place home. If you are a Belfast man or woman stop by.

My favorite patio in the Toronto Village. I also enjoy supporting this small LGBT friendly establishment. And great beer selection!

Great local bar with good food and a great selection of beers. You can pick between some local crafts and over 30 Belgium and other international beers. The food portions are big and satisfying. I tried the burger and it was decent. Totally recommend this place if you're in the neighbourhood.

We order their brunch menus and we are not disappointed. Food was delicious! They have plenty on seating in 3 levels. We enjoyed sitting on top level as is more quite and relaxing.

Food quality is gone downhill!
Hair of the Dog has always had wait staff with serious attitude. The last couple of visits the waiters have been friendly, however, the food is just awful. We usually order the nachos as they used to be good. Deep fried flour tortillas with decent toppings. The time before yesterday the tortillas were dripping oil. This time not only they made us wait until 3pm their claimed time they serve nachos after brunch, ; they also showed another side of how bad their food has become. They served us Costco corn chips but on top of that they deep fried them!
Quite laughable as they should have been baked and not deep-fried. Needles to say that they need to change the menu from famous nachos to nachos from sneaky Dee's!
Management also needs to run background checks based on the iffy person they had as a food runner!

I lived this place, the patio is beautiful and the staff is really friendly. This is THE most pet friendly place I've ever been

Good good. I ordered spaghetti with pesto sauce. Their recipe is a bit different than the traditional with lots of peppers.

The food is good, the patio is great and the waiter awesome. I had great company too, very enjoyable, a bit pricy, but good.

Aug/2021:
You cannot rely on an open patio door to keep the main floor cool, especially during sweltering heat. A singular fan would greatly help in moving the air from kitchen to bar seating.or turn on the A/C.

Aug/2019:
Felt like a lite healthy meal and ordered two appetizers: The mussels and hummus platters. Ok and a soothing double gin martini for a week I'd rather forget.
The hummus I am told is freshly made. It did not disappoint. The mussels are well garnished and the broth is delicious. The flourless chocolate cake and herbal cammomile tea completed the meal. Service was excellent.

More good news, they've done away with the horrendous Brunch/weekend steak & eggs. That one should have never been served in the first place.at least not until you get a decent steak.

Feb/2019:
Brunch for two on a Saturday. New kitchen Staff and no longer on the menu for Brunch is the delicious chicken & waffle dish although chicken is still available for dinner. Apparently waffles are too cumbersome to make. That's a shame.

In lieu, steak and eggs are ordered. For twenty dollars (average for the area) you get a good size meal but take away the salad and potatoes and you are left with a thin piece of meat that will push any kitchen to serve it medium rare and leave you asking: "where's the beef? " Better steaks can be gotten just about anywhere else. And that's a shame.
With memories of earlier years, I'm left with the impression the business is going the cheap route.again.

As for the 250 dollar tab for Brunch, I was not given an itemized receipt but simply a ticket with a grand total. And that's a third shame.

Regular great service with a Brunch of Chicken/Waffles. Infused ice cubes for the Caesar is a nice touch that will leave your drink with more than just melted water.

2017: Triple martini specials for the long weekend were perfect.that I can remember.

Lunch for two turns into lunch for one.oh well, more for me.
Lamb stew, coffee & Galliano on a nippy, wet day. Perfect.
Nice chunks of lamb in a gravy leaving me scraping the bowl with the bread.

Brunch with a friend who talked me into going back.almost kicking and screaming from previous negative experiences.and glad he did.

As soon as we walked in we were pleasantly greeted and immediately seated.
The service, food and drinks were all on point.

Well done on the crab cakes, eggs Florentine, Caesar and mimosas.

One of the nicest place you can go, great ambient, warm staff, great cocktails, and awesome food, my favorite dish was meatloaf, unfortunately they are not serving it anymore but almost everything on their menu is good, fish and chips, burgers, butter chicken and.

A great place for dinner and drinks. I didn't get the chance to try the draft beer and ale but it's because they didn't have any the night I went.

Great local pub and restaurant in the village.try their Southern fried chicken sandwich! Yum! Great selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Incredible patios! Yes 3 different ones! Upper, garden and street side!

Honestly one of the best restaurants in the city! Since reopening, the food has been incredibly tasty and fresh with prime quality ingredients and fair pricing. My favourite items are the poutine (cheese curds are soooo good), Caesar salad (gourmet), butter chicken sandwich, and of course any pub staple; the fish and chips (I highly recommend the coleslaw it comes with it's delicious).
The Caesar salad is a nice portion as well with fresh made-in-house bacon bits and 3 different types of bread used for the croutons. Lettuce and spices have always been fresh and clean, never been disappointed!
The patio is also really beautiful, highly recommend visiting here:)

They're back! Great to see they have a full staff and kitchen now that they can open again. Food is as great as it's ever been.

Great evening we stopped for a pint on the patio we did not have to wait long they have 3 outside areas right now. I had Blanche de Chamble on tap & we decided to stay for supper I chose butter chicken grilled cheese it was fantastic with sweet potatoes fries. It was fantastic to be able to go to a restaurant & be on the patio all procals were adhered too. Service was great.

My partner and I chose to swing by on opening day after lockdown, the experience was fabulous. The owner took care of everyone's food that evening! I was beyond shocked. People were expressing their gratitude and tipping generously. I haven't heard of any location doing this after such a long 15 months. We'll definitely be coming back

Lovely service, an accidental neighborhood gem. Loved their fry batter:) Wedges, crisp herby flavored deliciousness.burrito was a tad disappointing yet, nothing to worry with generous portions friendly service and alcohol on tap. Definitely coming back

Went to this place and I was not disappointed. I ordered a burger with goat cheese and fries. It was so tasty and the I received a large portion of fries. The salad is also a large size. The service was great too.

Fabulous neighbourhood pub. Good food and extensive craft beer menu. Huge patio and cozy inside.
