Hakka Chilli

I fell in love with the indo-chinese dish called Chicken Manchurian (ask for it 'with gravy') and Hakka chilli has the best Chicken, Shrimp, Beef and Fish Manchurian in the GTA. I've tried several restaurants and none get close to the intense flavors of this place. Their Pepper Beef, Pepper Chicken, Phuket Fish and Hakka chicken 65 are dishes that are amazing as well. Fried rice and noodle dishes aren't great.

Take our weekday special is awesome. Its really worth. They have consistency quantity and flavour compared to others. Their Business lunch combo as well as Spicy fried chicken, Pepper shrimp, Veg manchurian, Chilli fish dry are few to write here. Loving to visit always with family and friends.

Hole in the wall restaurant! Read all the negative reviews, but my experience was positive. Nothing grandiose for service or atmosphere. The food was tasty, well-balanced flavors and spices.lunch special - beef Manchurian with fried rice and the salt and pepper fish were both excellent.

Really bad experience at this place - went there to try a new Hakka place but it was a disappointment. Food was really bad but I didn’t mention this to the servers. However, when they brought my bill it had mistakes which the staff wasn’t even prepared to help with, they had no knowledge of how to return a payment as they had charged me for an extra item. Atmosphere - pathetic, cramped and weird vibe

Food was very mid.way too oily and bland.fried rice was terrible it was hard to eat and extremely sour.definitely not coming here again.

GUYS, please do not order noodles from this place. I ordered Kaha chilli noodles, fried rice, dried cauliflower manchurian and stir fry curry for a party of 10-15 people. Everything tasted ok except the noodle. It had gone bad, was sleeping really weird, were very sticky and did not taste good at all. We literally had to throw the entire tray because no body ate. It was embarrassing. When I called the restaurant all they had to say was we do not know mam what happened but we made fresh noodles.

If someone is ordering from you worth 150$. Atleast put the cutlery/napkins inside man. You're not gonna go bankrupt.

Visited Hakka Chilli with a friend and was pleasantly surprised with the variety on their menu. Quantities are fantastic for the price. Had the delicious chicken corn soup, spicy fish chilli, beef in garlic sauce with veg hakka noodles and the palatable fried Icecream. Looking forward to trying the rest of the dishes.

Dear Hakka enthusiasts,

I have always liked and appreciated the Hakka cuisine, the amazing flavors, the varying textures, the balance of spice, the HUGE portions.

After ordering the "chili chicken lunch combo" I can now report that this place offers limited assurance of those Hakka qualities that I have listed above.

Starting with the portion size: It was relatively small. I prefer my meals THICK and GIRTHY but this meal size looks like it was designed for a 14 year old boy. I understand the price point is competitive in around the $13 price point, Hakka is known to offer larger portion sizes and this was just disappointing. I would say that there were around 6 pieces of fried battered chicken and a standard amount of noodles. There was also too many vegetables mixed into the chicken and noodles, so I would recommend ordering less or no veg if you are given the option.

The DRY chicken option was picked as I didn't want my chicken to be drowning in gravy nor have them lower the already small chicken portion size, I feel like this was the right choice because my coworker ordered the Manchurian chicken with gravy and it looked unappealing because of all the LIQUID.

The flavor and texture profile of the dish was overall average, not disappointing but nothing extraordinary. They could definitely use more MSG and sauce to make the flavors POP though.

The overall spice level was on the spicier side. For reference, my white coworker (that cannot handle spice at all) ordered the "0/3 Chilies" option for her Manchurian chicken and could not finish it as it was two spicy for her. Her face started to run red with the Hakka heat and she only made it have way through her dish before having to throw it in the garbage (and drink about 2 liters of pop to cool down the burning). According to her, it was the chicken gravy that was the spicy component.

For myself, I am a chad so I can handle spice. I was feeling like a brave boy that day so my order was 2/3 chilies on their spiciness scale. It packed a good kick, it felt like I was getting repeatedly punched in the mouth by the chicken. I knew what I had signed up for so sucked my tears back into my eye ducts and pushed forward to complete the dish. The spiciness was by far the best (and the worst - will get to the after effects later) of the dish.

So far the only real negative I have about the place was the portion size as the flavor was adequate and the spice was good. I finished my lunch and I was relatively satisfied and satiated. A few hours later I felt that something was brewing in my stomach. It was subtle at first but gradually crept up on me as I went about my day. The brewing slowly eventually turned into pain as I was experiencing cramping of the bowels. I had just finished up a workout at the gym, and was about ten minutes away from my residence when it all hit me at once.

The Hakka came back to hit me with a vengeance and the barbarians were at the gate. It was slowly breaching the gates of my bu*thole as groaned in pain, running home and trying to stop the floodgates from releasing all this toxic material. Sweat was running down my forehead as my heart rate and breath rate increased. By the strength of my brute force and mental fortitude I somehow managed to clamp my bu*tcheeks closed long and hard enough to make it to my house where I experienced the burning ring of fire for the next 45 minutes. During those 45 minutes in agony I had the time to think over my life choices to see where I had went wrong.

Overall, not a bad experience, but I probably wouldn't go there again.

Ate here for the first time with my family today and had a lovely time. The servers were friendly and accommodating to our tastes. The food came out relatively quick, was fresh and well portioned—so much so we had plenty to take home after our meal! I especially recommend the basil rice, Szechuan prawns, and the fried ice cream. Overall cute place for a good family lunch!

This place is AMAZING! The atmosphere is lovely, Every server I've had has been incredibly friendly. The manager takes the time to stop by and ask how my experience has been. And the food.oh my goodness! Every time I forget how unbelievable it is! I try to order something different every time. I've had almost every appetizer on the menu and they all are so flavorful!

The prices are very affordable for the amount of food you get. % recommended

The worst experience that I had today is about the miscommunication of the person on the call who said that it’s halal food where it is not and I wasted my money and time to come pick up all the way from Etobicoke at Hakka Chilli morning shift people.
I would never come here and agin!

Food seems to be okay in taste. I ordered Schezwab noodles and Fried rice but none of these were taste worthy.

Ordered take out twice from here and it was excellent on both occasions. Ordered Veg fried rice, Hakka noodles and chili chicken. No complaints, excellent Hakka Chinese. The fried rice is probably the best in the city.

Tons of starters to choose from. Make sure you confirm with them the spice levels for each dish or you will turn into a red lobster.

Stopped by here randomly and the food hit the spot. Ordered hot garlic prawn gravy, Shezwan fried rice. Great fresh food and service. If you don’t like spicy, make sure to tell them in advance.

I asked for dry shrimp and they prepared it with sauce. I’ve order Hakka several times from many different restaurants and NEVER received food this spicy. Ridiculous. My family couldn’t eat this and we ended up throwing out $75 worth of food. I will never order from these guys again. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!

This place never fails to impress me! They have best Chinese (Indian Chinese) food. Amazing service and food!

Service is good and food comes fast, but the food is not very good. Bland tasting, and especially with the lunch specials, they skimp out on the portions, especially the meat. I think I counted 4-5 small pieces in the chili chicken combo I ordered.

Mediocre and if you spend a little bit more you can get a lot more value somewhere else.

Talk about Good food chinese food.brings water in your mouth but not everyone does justice with the food they serve.this restaurant really knows what they are serving.have tried many dishes and liked everything. This restaurant is definitely underrated as compared to so many hakka joints out there, but it is the one of best one I have tried so far!

We took an spontaneous chance to dine in as in close vicinity and the risk turned out to be fine.
Basic seating layout and need based service attention experienced.
The first order of veg manchurian? Soup won our heart and followed by another four Chinese dishes were to our satisfaction.
The fortune cookie were icing on the cake.

This unassuming restaurant in the plaza at Eglinton and Hurontario is my favourite place to go for lunch. If you like food that is honest, fresh and full of flavour, this is it. The dish I enjoy most is the Chilli Fish. The fish is cooked perfectly, tender and flaky and is accompanied with fresh scallions, peppers, onions, and of course chilli, topped with coriander. Thanks to all the staff for making me very happy always.

I am OBSESSED with this place! I discovered it last year after moving down from Kansas and it’s been my obsession since then!

The quality, taste, service, price and portion are all amazing! I love the HAKKA CHICKEN 65 and TANDOORI FRIED RICE which are not available at other Hakka Restaurants. Also a regular guest recommended me to try the FRIED ICE CREAM was yummy.

I highly recommend this place for those looking for authentic Hakka.

We enjoy the food in this restaurant. Most weekends we choose to eat here as a family. Their fried spicy Calamari under appetizers is a wonderful treat, especially for people who like something hot and spicy to start with. Some other favorites of our family are Green Chicken Curry, the spicy Basil chicken curry and Singapore noodles. We are looking forward to trying other delectable dishes.there are many weekends left!

Great Food, I love the coriander vegetarian soup with or without added chicken. I was never a Calamari fan but since I tasted their fried Calamari, I do not mind having it as an appetizer and then again as the main course too. Green chicken is another great dish one could try if they really love hot & spicy meal. Continue the great work and serve the community.

We walked in yesterday at 7: 30 for dinner with a friend. Quickly ordered our food because we were hungry. No water, no drinks were given. Sat and waited for half an hour, then our soup came. Another 30mins passed, sat with empty bowl and we asked our server where our food was, she said 5 mins. 15 mins gone by and our first meat dish came. We had to ask for our bowl of rice which was ordered an hour ago. Shouldn't it automatically come with the dish? We ate the beef and we again asked for our fish and okra, took another 20 mins. Never had I ever have to wait over an hour for hakka. The serving staff were new, so I don't blame them for not bringing water or rice or sauces. Food were mediocre, won't be returning.

Reply to unapologetic owner: We came in on December 11, around 7: 30pm. Your staff did not take down our name or number for contact tracing. I don't see how I would be on your system.

Ordered take out and the food was very delicious. We ordered the chicken lollipop and the wanton soup. Both were very delicious. They gave a good amount of sauce for the lollipops and the chicken was crispy. Will order again:)

One of the worst experience I ever had. Poor food quality and poor service.

Me and my friend went in the evening time and we ordered two types of Friedrice. Once we got it after ling waiting time, we got to know that they added mushroom in one of the rice. But unfortunately my friend was allergic to mushroom, as soon as we informed the staff about this and asked for replacement without, they were like. 'No.as per our policy we cant replace anything and something like that. This totally ruined our dinner. We couldn't able to touch that rice. Plus the another Friedrice which we ordered, that contain big pieces of tomatoes. And I was wondering for what sale they are adding tomatoes In it. That was so bad taste and I didn't like it at all.
So basically the food was so bad. And especially I wannna mention about the staff who was dealing with us. Her name was Parminder I. She was so ride and mean. Like she was questioning us. We didn't like it all. So guys it's better to stop going there anymore.

Reply to the owner- If you have seen all my reviews, I have also seen all your unapologetic replies to customers. Where you don’t take the reviews as feedback, but try to prove the customer wrong. Lol how do you expect positive reviews with flavorless food you serve. As you mentioned in your reply everyone has different likes and dislikes, then why do you expect all your customers to put positive review. You are into food business, positive and negative feedback is part of your business, please try to accept this and stop arguing with your customers. And believe me your food was totally bland and of no taste

The two hour take out
I have been a long time and probably a last time patron of Haka Chilli (previously salt and pepper and then Haka magic). On November 28th I placed an order online at 12: 39. My wife called them at 1: 15 to see if the order was ready (we normally do this as they always make you wait and seldom is your food ready). She was told 20 minutes. When I went to pick up at around 1: 45 – 1: 50 the server (female server 1) told me it would be another “couple of minutes” after waiting there till 2: 15 I asked her to check and she said it would another couple of minutes. I should mention that my wife and two kids were waiting in the car for me. After asking them repeatedly and mentioning the time of the order she said 15 minutes. I told her that when I came back I would like to speak to the manager. Upon my return at 2: 35 the order was still not ready. I then had the pleasure of speaking to the most obnoxious server (younger lad) who said that if I would have spoken to him he would never have said twenty minutes at which point I mentioned it was almost 2 hours. He then proceeded to tell me that he could either talk to me or look after the order and proceeded to give me excuses over how busy they were and that orders online were then called by the company so no one was answering the phone. The server (female server 2) brought out my order, it was not 2: 50. I noticed that people who entered with me at 2: 15 were eating so the kitchen just decided not to cook the order. This is the poorest service I have ever received with not even the slightest attempt to make things right.
As I have worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years, I always give service staff the benefit of the doubt. This to me is an owner who does not care about his customers. A kitchen that is dysfunctional and the one server (male one who apparently is the senior) should not be employed.
With regards to the food over the years I have always been satisfied There was one experience where the food was bland, however of late I do think the Chef has changed as the food is more greasy and less tasty approaching the level of mediocrity that will have me looking elsewhere.

Why wasn't I introduced to this place earlier?
Hakka Chilli is now my favorite spot for Chinese that tastes exactly like the one in Mumbai.
We ordered Butter Fried Chicken.the first bite of it and there was my verdict! The best Hakka Chinese taste ever in Mississauga!
I was a fan of Salt n Pepper but not anymore.
Very soon will be trying the entire spread on their menu.
Price point is average.ambience is pleasant.and yes old Bollywood instrumental songs were a bliss!

This is a tough one to write as you can see the hospitality is great. They do actually check on you and make u very comfortable.

However the food was gross. I won't eat here again. I've eaten garlic chicken at a number of establishments never once has it been red. It tasted like seasoned pasta sauce. It was sweet not savoury. The rice was really long grain but had a very distinct texture. I'm wondering if this is the rice we see being made out of plastic as there was no smell and no flavour to it. I tried it by itself to see if I was wrong.

The people are very kind there. But in regard to the food, I've had frozen dishes better than this.

Will not return.

It was a great dine in experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. They offer amazing food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Service was delightful and very professional. Highly recommended.

Extremely slow service. Took me 50 minutes to get a takeout of two items. They clearly prioritize online orders over phone-in orders. On top of that the meat dish was bland. Rice dish was good, but overall a very disappointing experience.

A lovely little place with friendly service. I really enjoyed the Hakka Chinese. The prawns chilli and the chicken fried was excellent! And you must try the fried was ice cream for dessert.

Wanted to order chicken manchurian, for whatever reason it was only available for lunch combo, which is a smaller portion. After we picked everything up and brought it home we noticed they forgot the drink to the combo. I called the lady just apologized. The rice was way to wet, we had to throw it out. The 2 starts is for the veggie manchurian was ok and the veggie hakka noodles were decent. This was our second time trying it out, will not be returning unfortunately. First time we had a similar experience but I thought since that was a few years ago, things would have improved by now.

I don't understand the confusion on your end. Clearly wrote "they forgot the drink to the combo" therefore, I must have ordered the combo. What rice did I get? I got the rice you sell with the combo. Maybe next time before responding to a customers review, maybe take the time to lookup the order on your end and check the details. Its funny that you wrote "IF MY FEEDBACK IS FOR IMPROVEMENT EMAIL" you @. Its your restaurant, as a customer I gave feedback on the quality of food and service I received at your establishment. IF you feel that with the feedback you received, you can improve your food and service, thats on you. I won't be back and the friends I shared the lunch with won't be back therefore, what you do with the feedback doesn't matter to me.

Very good customer service. The wait staff was very polite. The food took some time to come but it was hot and fresh so we didn’t mind. The salt and pepper shrimp was amazing however the hakka noodles and gravy dishes can be improved on flavour. Overall a good experience, good portion sizes.

Had a hair in the Hakka noodles ordered via Uber eats. Tried calling the restaurant and the manager said come and collect a replacement.

That was not expected as it was a special day for us and the experience spoiled all the environment. They should have been accommodating by being more sensitive and tried and send a replacement.
Anyways we are not ordering again from the restaurant.

Have not been here for sometime due to the restrictions, However had done takeout's. We did have a dine in after a long time and did enjoy the food. Have seen new service staff as this the case in most restaurants.
Our preferred place for Hakka food.

Got the Hakka chilli noodles with shrimp. Hardly any shrimp to be found and could not take a bite because it was drenched in soy sauce. It was so salty.

Ordered a pickup order from doordash. Went to pickup after an hour, first they said they didn't receive the order and when I showed them my order on the app they started saying they gave it to someone else and made me wait untill they remade. Worst customer service. No respect to customers.

First time to this place.was recommend by my friends, enjoyed the food. This restaurant was busy with takeout's. However we were not in a rush and enjoyed our food.
We will definitely recommend our friends to this place.

Went to the restaurant with our office staff.the food was amazing and had the real taste of Indian Hakka. Looks to be a busy restaurant with take out they take vey less dine in due to covid restrictions.

Been going to this place since 2017 (except the past two years), when they used to be call Wangs. I recently was back in town and ordered a bunch of food to take it back home.

Good:
- Hakka chow mein were as they used to taste, so that is something i would order again
- Pepper chicken was decent, however just too much batter on the actual chicken

Bad:
Not sure where to start with this. The dry paneer had way too much batter and because of it, became very oily. Their wings used to be something we always ate and they were always spot on. But this time, the wing/batter proportion was very high, making the wings mushy and not very appetizing. The soup was extremely salty; salt is expected in hakka food, but this was headache causing amount of salt.

Lastly, what concerned me the most was the fact that while waiting for my food (I was there as soon as they opened for dinner) ; I noticed a gentleman (tall, skinny), who looked like a cook go into the washroom with gloves on. He came out of the washroom with the same gloves on and went on to proceed to the kitchen. Regardless of what he did or didn't do in the washroom; I see no reason for him to be wearing the same gloves in the kitchen/washroom and not washing his hands etc.

I wish they go back to their original recipes and drastically improve their staff practices. Disappointed as it was one of our top places to visit in GTA for Hakka food.

My go to place for hakka Chinese cuisine. Good quantity, not too expensive and yumm taste! Love the veg Manchow soup!

Ordered Manchurian and chilli chicken lunch specials today, food was horrible would not recommend to anybody. On top of that they couldn’t provide a certificate for the food being halal. Eddies wok n roll and royal jasmine are 100% satisfaction guaranteed in comparison.

In search of a better Indian Hakka Chinese meal, we ordered some food through their website. The ordering process is a five star experience. I wish all restaurants did something similar.

Hot N Sour soup - very disappointing. The broth had some tomato flavour, that we have never come across. The vegetables were meh. The cabbage were cut too long and thick for this soup. The taste itself was just spice and flavour wasn’t close to the Hakka style we are used too.

The Veg Fried Rice, less oil as requested. But again no flavour. Quantity was good, but quality in terms of flavour nope.

Hakka Chowmein - less oil requested but full of grease. It just takes away from enjoyment of a meal. The plates, the the taste in your mouth is just oil. Again no flavour as such compared to normal Hakka taste.

The Veg Manchurian was ok. The fritters too soggy and the gravy needs some better flavour and spice.

The Paneer Chilli - the paneer is battered and deep fried. The kids didn’t like it at all. Their go to meal is Paneer and a huge downer for them specially when combined with the rest of food.

Far from any of the real Indian Hakka Taste that we are used to.

1st time ordering from Hakka Chilli, apprehensive about trying out a new place, it was the closest Hakka place near us,

The menu checked out with likes, we decided to try it.

Can I have a Chicken Hakka Noodle, Manchow Soup, and Veg Manchurian Gravy which was perfect to accompaniment to the noodles, where you get to enjoy the dish you want, but need something to make a bit more wet.

Very nicely handled call, we picked up the food, And the size of helpings were good for how many the lady said will share comfortably.

I must say our first experience with the food was very scrumptious, the soup was excellent, lots of Chicken, properly spiced, The Hakka noodles again tasty, and the veg Manchurian accompaniment, worked out great,

wonder if you would consider other gravies if we want like Garlic gravy?

This place was new for me. Love their green chilli chicken and chilli chicken. Very suited to Desi taste. Now has become my favourite pickup spot.

Love the food from this place.its a little greasy but get the Indian hakka Chinese taste. Not a great dine in option would suggest pick up.

Best chili chicken dry, the new chef's menu and tastes both are good. Also lunch special under $10.

Delicious Quality Indian chinese food! I recommend everyone to try the sweet corn soup! Every dish has a different taste, its not the same flavour, which is hard to find. Finally something great! But, a minor set back, quantity is a bit less for the dishes, where you only need to buy two dishes, u just need to get another one.:)

Nice Place for a quick bite, This place has authentic Hakka Food, the location is ideal with ample parking space.the staff was friendly and helpful. Recommend this place.

We had a lovely meal at this place. The food was terrific, the location was central and the service was excellent. Especially the fried icecream was awesome.

I have been to this restaurant many times and service and quality is consistently excellent. Serves delicious Indian style Chinese food. The Fried Rice, Cauliflower Manchurian and Chilly Chicken is a must try. The ambiance is very cozy and service is quick.

Cozy little place serving lovely Indo Chinese cuisine. Decent sized menu with a number of veg and non veg reasonably priced options. Sumptuous and tasty food with pretty good service. Although it's a small place, didn't have to wait long to be seated. Located in a plaza with ample parking.

Been here twice in the past month. Food tastes excellent and quantity was huge during both our visits, plenty of veg options and tastes much better than other Chinese and hakka restaurants, being vegetarians we loved the food and lots of Chinese vegetables in the food.

The restaurant looks much better and has a warm ambiance now after renovations while the food was quite delicious. I tried some new things on the menu which seem to be unique to this restaurant and was quite pleased with the taste. Best of all, the staff was friendly and courteous and actually catered to our needs by customizing the preparation of food based on our requests. I am definitely going back:)

I have visited this restaurant more than couple of time and it has never failed to impress. There are some interesting dishes on the menu and each time I made it a point to order for different dishes combined with few of my favorites. And everytime the food was fresh and tasty and moreover consistent. One of the best, if not the best Hakka Chinese in Mississauga.

There was hair in my friends order and they still made us pay for the dish. They did not apologize or anything. The chef just stood there arms crossed talking on about how he's not responsible to some other server. It's your kitchen and your food is a reflection of your character. Sadly, you have none.

Only good thing were the servers, otherwise AVOID AVOID
