HAMBRGR Downtown

I was recommended to visit HAMBRGR King William location in Hamilton so we decided to make a food trip out of it. Located in Downtown Hamilton, there’s paid street and lot parking nearby.

The restaurant has a nice decor and ambiance. I think that the tables are somewhat too close to each other but there’s other seating areas.

Service is prompt and friendly. They are knowledgeable about their menu and Chef’s Smash.

We went with the Hawaiian Punch, Original Hamont and the Biggie Mac. I enjoyed the Biggie Mac as it felt like an upscale Big Mac. The Original Hamont has a strong pickle flavour that was a bit overwhelming but it was still a solid burger. The Hawaiian was the best of the bunch.

They are premium burgers and it’s worth a visit if you are in the area. For people like is, we felt that it wasn’t worth the drive as they were better burger places in our area.

Incredible burgers! The cauliflower appetizer was a meal in itself, and so delicious! The chicken and waffles main was top notch. We are definitely coming back to this gem of a place.

My husband & I came for a late dinner tonight. Sooo glad we did! We each had the chef's special creation, a burger with Havarti, braised short rib, super skinny crispy fries, truffle aioli, arugula & pickled onions. Oh. Em. Gee! Amazing! Plus sweet potato fries and a salted caramel banana split, holy moley! Great food served by Thomas, the most amazing waiter in all of Hambrgr-dom.if not the world!

Stopped in for lunch outstanding burger great atmosphere and great service We had the el diablo burger and a burger with Brisket and fries on the side Great burgers! Definitely will return!

Best burgers EVER. Thomas was there ready to rock. We felt so welcomed like he really wanted us to come in and enjoy ourselves. He really loves these burgers and he wasn't fooling around - really, the best. I've been waiting to taste a burg like this; salty, beefy, perfect topping (swiss and mushroom). Loved that fries are separate.burger needs no side kick. The plate was cool.little moat there to catch the drips

All I can say is GO. EAT. NOW! Lol. Can't wait to try the caesar next time!

I was here in 2021 during Grey Cup, and came back again during Grey Cup 2023. Both times were just out of this world! The food is excellent, the staff are excellent, I just can’t say anything bad about it. 5️ well deserved.

This is the second time I have been there and have to get up and leave because I waited more than 15-20 minutes to receive our drinks and also waited close to 10 minutes to be greated by our server when we were first seated. It was steady but not busy with a good number of staff on to support the volume of guests. It is a shame because the food looked fantastic around me and have been excited to try it because the food has a good reputation. Maybe the front of house staff could be more on their toes at lunch time. I will return and try again because I dont like to judge a place by just one or two visits. Hopefully next time I get to try the food.

We stopped here for dinner this weekend and it was amazing! Everyone was so happy with their meal and the server/bartender was excellent. We sat at the bar and it was very comfortable. Decent collection of beer, too. Highly recommend and I only wish we had a location in the Kitchener area!

It's ok. I only went back because my friend wanted to try your burgers. There are better burgers/food in town for cheaper. You don't serve coffee or domestic beer which limits your over 40 crowd & why your lucky to get 3 stars from this 57 year old!

Amazing food, service, prices, ambience. The burgers are huge and never disappoint. I highly recommend the garlic Parmesan fries. Their chef smash burgers keep things fresh and exciting. The desserts are insane. Come here hungry and leave here in a food coma.

Have been going here since they opened a while back and find myself keep coming back because almost no other burger place quite compares.

Service at this location is absolutely terrible. The manager radiates karen energy. Will never visit this location again.

Highly recommend trying out the Burger Nachos. It tasted really good. Overall, a good place with good vibes and good servers.

The staff, the service, the Food was A1. Just a great experience. You will not be disappointed! Definitely, came back and tried the Delirium beer great choice by the way. The El Diablo burger was excellent thank you very much. Our server was great as well. Thank you to all the staff that made our lunch awesome again!

Awesome burger place. Really interesting combinations of toppings, while it does hide the patty a bit, it’s really interesting! And I feel like the plain burger here would be really good quality.
Beer selection is pretty good too! Lots of local craft beers and a selection of Trappist and Belgium beers.

Came in for the (to die for) Nutella milkshake, will definitely be back for the rest of the menu!

Burgers are amazing, poutine delicious and great selection of local craft beers. Dining room a bit crowded and very noisy tho.

Made a reservation for 2 for a TABLE, told we had to sit at the bar to eat while tables sat empty. Not my preference, had I known when making reservation I would have cancelled. Reservation said I had a table. Watched the bartender pour and serve us at the same time, not what I had in mind. Burger was very good, fries ok.

Ordered the Nutjob vegan burger. Was a little too dry for my liking. They forgot to bring the fries of my coworker who I ate with. Not everybody at the table was happy with their meal. The decor and ambience is pretty neat and the place is usually packed during lunch time.

It was pretty good, and tasted fresh, I was slightly disappointed in the price for what I ordered.

Good little burger joint trying to stay relevant in the growing burger chain Market. Try the house made hot sauce, it's excellent!

Delicious! Great Balls of Fire Mac and Cheese Fritters are BOMB! Great menu and great service. A must try

Be hungry. Insanely good and ginormous burgers. Always extremely kind and helpful staff. Across the street was a location used in the Oscar winning film Shape of Water but it’s been torn down now.

From the start Mike our server was excellent, the whole time great communication working on our needs. Atmosphere has a great vibe, easy menu to choose from. Only issue we had was the Gar Parm fries were cold, tasted great but timing was off. Hey that happens sometimes so don't let it stop from going.

I didn't get to try the food, the staff at the door was super rude with people waiting in line. They don't have a waitlist and seemed super disorganized, getting angry with customers standing in the patio just because "they were serving food and we were in the way". Please ask nicely to make a line outside the patio or have a simple waitlist. Everyone in line left after this.

EDIT: In response the the owner's reply. No COVID measures were mentioned (we also weren't breaking any by standing on the patio with masks on), nor was a waitlist mentioned or offered.

Amazing dining experience. The staff was super nice. Good service with delicious food. Aesthetic wise the food was very presentable and pleasing to the eyes!
Food comes in large portions too.

Delicious burgers. Who would think a place could be so good and dedicated to burgers. Our server Mike was the best. Incredible desserts.

Not all that impressed.was expecting a really great burger for the price.after waiting over an hour and a half for 2 burgers and a pop was expecting something awesome.nothing special about the burgers we got and onion rings were overdone.oh and 1 can of pop was 5 bucks.paid close to 50 bucks and was definitely not worth it.if I wasn't so starving absolutely would have returned. Never even finished. Really hope I caught them on a busy night and they were just slammed, or other burgers are better, for me wasn't any better than what a cheaper fast food restaurant offers. I don't normally leave bad reviews even if I didn't enjoy buy kinda feeling dupped. I pay money to enjoy my food not to be disappointed. I'm really not even that picky.guess my hopes were too high. Seems like most people love this place.just was far from the best.

HAMBRGR is quite possibly the best restaurant in Hamilton. Food is consistently delicious and I love the atmosphere in the restaurant. I also have to say the servers are what make the experience as well - special shoutout to Shay, she has served us a couple times and has been so kind, very attentive and all around awesome. Every time we go, I always hope it is her serving us!

Great food and awesome customer service. I was accidentally brought out the wrong burger and management personally came out to apologize as well as our server. My meal was free. The patio is so nice and I felt safe dining there. I will definitely come back. I just was so impressed how nice the staff were and the excellent customer service.

I would give the burgers, sweet potatoes fries and strawberry beer 5 stars.lowered to 3 due to the wait, even though we had reservations.also the wait for the food was quite long.regular fries were brought after, due to some confusion and being forgotten, only problem they looked like the bottom of the fry tray was scraped, with greasy, over-cooked bits and pieces.could be because by the time we finally got our food, it was close to closing time and we got whatever was left? Hopefully next time we will have a more positive overall experience because the food and service merit a return.

Most LEGIT lettuce wrap I've ever seen on a burg! Great fries too. Also the Beet Salad with fried block of brie was tops.

They have worst customer service ever the waitress was super rude and aggressive and we wouldn’t dare to ask her for napkins and spoon so we served ourselves.and their food is super oily and bad taste (not fresher all), We were there on Monday and all 6 members of my family got food poisoning and sickness for 2 days.

Burger was juicy and flavorful. The memphis bbq bacon was really good - a must add topping! Super friendly staff and great service.

I only gave 4 stars because the toppings could have been distributed more evenly and the burger to bun ratio could have been more proportional.

Everything I’ve ever tried there has been delicious. Appetizers, milkshakes, poutines, and burgers are always a great choice.

This place is AMAZING! Today’s our 2nd time eating from here this week! I don’t know how I lived without this place before Monday! The chick-filet is huge, and is SO GOOD! So far we’ve had the chick-filet twice, the 514, a double cheese burger, the buttermilk onion rings, (my personal favorite), and the spicy cauliflower (by accident)! You can definitely taste the quality of their pride in every single thing they make! THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE! ️

Excellent service and great food.

Came in right at opening and the staff were really nice and able to accommodating in getting me fed before my exam. That is, that I was in and out the door in 25 minutes including eating.

I had the Le Royale with Cheese, on their recommendation, it tasted fantastic and the mix of cheeses and french onions tasted great, this is a burger where you'll be using a fork to scoop the onions/juice that dripped out back onto the burger during the last final few bites.

While I originally thought $5 for a side salad was steep, the salad came in a deep bowl with plenty of salad, dressing well tossed and an abundant amount of finely grated cheese on top.it was amazing. I was in such a rush I didn't even manage to take a picture of the salad before eating my first few bites.

We're from Kitchener, but come here annually when we visit our friends from Hamilton. This place can satisfy the vegans in our party as well as the carnivores in our party! I'm one of the carnivores, and I tend to have zero carb burgers in a variety of places. But this one was truly impressive! The burger patty, blue cheese and bacon were all great quality, and I love that they brought me a full litre bottle of sparkling water, with a shot glass of freshly squeezed lime juice. In a couple of weeks, we are making a special trip back to Hamilton just so we can bring our kids to enjoy these fantastic burgers. See you soon, Hambrgr!

We stumbled upon this place in Hamilton and had a wonderful lunch. Our waiter JC was awesome. The food was to die for, we will definitely be back

This burger shop is amazing. The home salad and sweet potatoes are so good. And it will be the reason I come back visit Hamilton again.

We were very impressed with this burger place. Top notch! We started with the bacon fat popcorn which was delicious - perfectly seasoned and topped with bacon and Parmesan cheese. The chimichurri fries were out of this world, everything about them from the crispy perfectly fried fries to the topping combination was perfect. My build your own burger was topped with blue cheese, mustard glazed bacon, grilled onions, hickory sticks and burger sauce and it was AMAZING. The mustard glazed bacon was to die for, I will definitely be trying to recreate it at home.

They also seemed to have some craft draft & growlers available, someone was getting cocktails to go while we were there.

Definitely a 5 star burger joint.

Pretty great selection of gourmet hamburgers at prices you'd expect as well. Like a lot of quaint Hamilton restaurants there isn't much sitting space however.

HAMBRGR is a solid place to go to get a good burger or sandwich. I really enjoy their chicken sandwiches with a side of rings. Sides are a good size to share as well

Came here twice in a month and I sure am glad to have finally tried it out after many months of hearing great things. Prices are reasonable and service has always been fantastic. The burgers are cooked to perfection and the fries live up to the burgers too. It can be a bit of a wait during peak times but the server told us they are renovating in the new year, expanding into where FSH & CHP was previously.

OMG, possibly the best burger I've ever had. Got the 3am In Venice and it was incredible; juicy, flavourful, delicious, and very very messy. Everything a good burger should be. With my burger I got Piri Piri fries which were amazing with just enough heat but not burning with spice. Definitely returning

Best burgers in the city. They have a cosy restaurant, service is quick and the presentation is amazing. I usually order at lunch time, and take out is ready in 10 mins! My favourites are the #hamont burger, and the poutine with pulled pork on top. You have to try this.

Their white sauce hot sauce poutine is the best poutine you can get in the area. They have amazing burgers and a beautiful concept, but the food needs more/better sauce. The HAMBRGR sauce is not unique compared to other burger locations that have their secret sauce. Food is great honestly so yeah, enjoy!

No milkshakes, quite smaller, but still the Hambrgr experience (which is a great one). I'd recommend going to the other one, just for the milkshakes though.

Hands down my favourite place for chicken and waffles (surprisingly). Hamburgers are awesome as well, but the chicken and waffles! Must try. Might I suggest if you are going as a pair or with a group- split your order! The portions are generous. At first, I thought paying $14-$20 for just a burger was expensive- but you get what you pay for. I have eaten here a handful of times- and the food quality is always consistent and fresh. The ONLY item on the menu I don’t quite agree with is the S’mores platter they have on their dessert menu. It’s a great and fun idea, as you literally get to toast your marshmallows on a cauldron of fire (very safe btw) - but I felt it was overpriced- $6 a person and it includes marshmallows, sliced bananas, strawberries, Vortman shortbread cookies, and a scoop of Nutella and caramel sauce. Wish they would stick just stick to the classic marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker. I get they’re trying to make this their own- but classics are classics! Otherwise I would totally recommend this place if you are craving burgers. Be prepared to wait sometimes though as their seating is pretty limited (still worth the wait). In the summer they have a small patio!

I come here often - expect a little wait every time but I know that's pretty standard for a popular restaurant. Food is always on point - service is always on point. Great variety and atmosphere. Love taking my out of town friends here.

One of the best burgers (so far the best I have found) in and around GTA. This is one of the two locations they have in Hamilton. The only downside of this downtown location is that it does not serve milkshakes as the other one: - (. Now that the only negative aspect is written about, lets move on to the whole bunch of positives.

I went there after hearing about all the hype on social media and narcity. And Hambrgr lives up to the hype. As one of the blogs truly says about it - "what the places misses out in vowels, it makes it up with its flavours". The place is small and has a nice contemporary feel to it.

Food: we ordered the #Hamont and the Maui Wowi (one with the pulled pork) with a side of Gar par and sweet potato fries. Both burgers had distinct flavours and so good that I could not pick my favourite. My girlfriend and I kept alternating our bites simply because we just couldn't decide which one we liked more.

Service: Extremely friendly and prompt. We were seated right away and once we placed the order, the delicious burgers were in front of us in less than 15 min. At the end of the meal, while paying the check, the server (I giess he was the owner) sat down with us asking us about our experience.

Whenever I will crave for a burger, Hambrgr will be the place for me. May be not the downtown one but definitely the other Ottawa St location as I want to try their insane milkshakes I have heard so much about. Hope they start serving milkshakes at both (and future) locations.

The best burger of your life, every single time. From their diverse menu to the build your own options, HAMBRGR is consistently amazing, with stellar beer choices, and kind waitstaff. We drive from an hour away at least once a month to indulge and have never regretted the trip. Put this place on your food bucketlist for sure!

We stopped at Hambrgr enroute to another destination. The burgers are artisan crafted, the lighting is good, the ambiance is inviting. Menu has plenty of options for the discerning carnivore. The burgers on wooden platters ooze temptation. Gar Parm fries are noteworthy. Had the 3AM in Venice and Le Royale burger and split with a friend. A must-visit when in Hamilton!

I've been a loyal patron to both Hamilton locations for two years now, the food has always been excellent (5 stars for the food) and I always bring anyone visiting Hamilton to Hambrgr- it is always worth the wait and crowded seating just for the food experience.

However, there have now been two awkward encounters with a server that make me question the level of customer service and professionalism when it comes to waitlists.

Yesterday I brought my parents for their anniversary; they said since I hype it up so much they wanted to try this place. I called on our drive there and was told there was no wait time. I know that obviously that can change in heartbeat so when we got there and were told it was a 10 minute wait that was absolutely no problem! My group of 4 then tucked ourselves away from the door, into a corner nook area near that garage door that opens. We stood squished together so we wouldn't block the doorway, we also ensured we weren't crowding or hovering around any other customers. We were the only patrons waiting. A different server approached us about 4 minutes into our wait. She asked if we were on the list and I said yes. She then said, "okay so if you could just wait outside until the table is ready. " My mom didn't think she heard her correctly and asked if she did infact say 'outside'. The waitress said yes, and being that it's been windy and rainy, my mom said "i'm sorry i'm freezing i'm not going to wait outside. " The server then replied with "Okay, so you don't want your table! " And jumped to serve another couple who were walking in the door. We just walked out.

I get it, you probably have fire hazard codes to abide by and don't have the physical space to hold people during waits. However, in the summer this happened to me and two friends as well (same waitress) ; we were told it was a 30-40min wait and there was clearly no space to wait at the restaurant, so since it was sunny, we walked around the area for 30 mins and came back only to find out our table was given away because we "weren't there" when called and had to wait another 20 minutes or so.

I'm also a milennial, I get that this establishment, the vibes and the staff are unique and sometimes edgy; trust me I know customer service can be tiring especially when the person doesn't like what they're being told but you cannot be so snappy, if you snap back that quickly you come off as agitated and obviously the customer will be defensive. If your patrons must wait in the rain because your location is too tiny, approach this in a more apologetic manner, sometimes a sweet tone, an apology and a smidge of an understanding, empathetic personality go a long way. Perhaps take cell phone numbers and call people so they can wait in their cars in the winter- or for when they have 40 minutes to kill during a wait time in the summer and don't just want to hover at the outside entrance. Offer menus to read, a pager.something. We don't mind waiting for good food, but try to approach it a bit more calmy, and expect a rebuttal because not many restaurants tell their guests to 'get outside and wait', that may be your unique thing but you've got to offer something to ease and control that a bit better.

Atmosphere like a rustic, modern vibe and there was industrial lighting and chair. Friendly and warm greeting at the door. That's a plus. Was there approximately 16: 20. Interior size is small with tables able to seat and serve for 2,4, or 6 people. Don't know the max capacity. Does have washroom.
Ordered le royal burger with onion rings as a side served on wooden board. The onion rings, wow! Big, crunchy, lightly flavour and with dip sauce. Burger, I pressed it down to take a bite and the taste, the patty seems like it was grounded up in house and everything about the bite worth to stop by again and again and possibly again. Thank you for the experience

Many gourmet burger places are all about the toppings. HAMBRGR has the good toppings but they realize that the most important thing about a good burger is the meat. Their hamburger patty is very tasty and a good thickness.

Hands down, one of the best burgers I've ever had. We visited earlier this afternoon and the atmosphere was great, the service was pleasant and the food was delectable. The Royale burger was phenomenal. Also, all of the food is rather aesthetic.

Loved this place. Very good quality burger, with very reasonable pricing. Service was really good as well. Definitely recommend the burgers here. The only thing i have to critique is fries, the need to be more crispy. Overall a great find!

Highly over-rated. We heard so many rave reviews of this place we were excited to try it. Maybe they had a bad night. My burger had a slightly unpleasant flavour and it was dry and over-cooked. The requested/expected bit of pink in the middle was absent. The fries were fine, but the poutine gravy was mediocre and the curds were few and far between. We tried the cinnamon donuts for dessert and they were equally unimpressive. The seating was hard and uncomfortable. The service was fine. It's a little pub-type venue, which I'm sure suits the university crowd better than us, but we won't bother again.

Amazing food, unique menu items, great cost. Small venue, sometimes there's a wait but even if I had to wait 4 hours it would be worth it for the tater tot fonude.

This location doesn't have milkshakes! A bit disappointing. Decent location and nice patio, though. Staff was friendly but slow, and there was a long wait time. Food was ok - I feel the food was better at their other location in Hamilton. Overall would go again, but only if it's not busy (not worth waiting in line for).

HAMBRGR is a top contender for the best burgers I have ever had, and their quality remains amazing for all of the items on their menu that I have tried. The side portions for fries are also big as well!

The good: the burger. Juicy and exactly what you’d want out of a good bun.

The bad: the pulled pork poutine and the deep fried pickles.
The poutine was 99% sauce and it was crazy sweet bbq sauce. It was like drinking it out of a bottle. The fried pickles were huge so I was sooo pumped when they got to the table. The batter has zero flavour and the dill dipping sauce honestly tasted like sour cream. Just really bland.

Reason I'm giving this place a 3 star is cause of the poutine. The burger was probably the best burger I have ever had. No coming back from old Quebec & telling the server that I wanna see how this poutine compares to poutine I had few days ago. She said she would let the kitchen know that. Ppl don't be cheap with the cheese curds.your not gonna go broke. Put a good amount of cheese curds & gravy we are paying $7 for it. For what I got it was a rip off. Picture 1 is from Hamburg & picture 2 is from quebec that's a real poutine learn from example. Maybe next time u'll get the 4th star.
