This hospital is a real hit or miss but I am there right now and absolutely fed up with the service. My wife is in severe pain and in worse shape than others. We have been in the emergency waiting room for 3 hours and everyone that was ahead of us has gone in 1 hour and 30 minutes ago and other people that have been behind us have gone ahead. Clearly they forgot about us until we spoke up and she said soon. Absolutely pathetic. The lady at the desk registering her gave her attitude for not reason. Hard not to see this as a race thing with my wife being black. Disgusted regardless of their excuse

I see tons of Negative Reviews. Hamilton ("Down town") has all the symptoms of failure, Poverty, and Urban neglect. Homelessness, Inflation and Over priced real estate. I don't envy Hospital Workers. It's terrible. My Mother was (fortunately) Sequestered into the best part of the 1st Floor, and later the 7th. The 3rd Floor was questionable (~ 3 days), but not surprising since it had the Sickest patients in the System. Theft is a problem, too.

Waited 4 hours for a x-ray result a joke of a hospital worth it to just drive to Toronto to go to Toronto general

I am deeply disappointed by the Cardiology Unit's lack of communication and follow-up regarding my dad's care. As the primary contact for my father, I expected a higher level of professionalism and consideration for his health and well-being.

First and foremost, I was not even contacted about my dad's follow-up appointment. This oversight left my father confused and uncertain about the appointment time, and he would have likely missed it altogether if I hadn't intervened and asked directly. This lack of proactive communication is completely unacceptable.

To make matters worse, I have made numerous attempts to reach out to the Cardiology Unit, having called them at least 10 times and left approximately 4 voicemails. Shockingly, I have received no response whatsoever. My father's appointment is scheduled for tomorrow.

Equally concerning is the fact that my father is currently on four different medications that significantly affect his potassium levels. Despite this, there has been no order for necessary blood work (which should be in place at least once every 4 weeks with his condition). This lack of attention to critical medical details puts my father's health at risk and is a clear indication of a lack of thoroughness and care in their approach to patient management.

Patients and their families should not have to endure such neglect and frustration when dealing with matters as crucial as cardiac care. Effective communication, timely follow-up, and proper medical oversight are non-negotiable elements of quality healthcare, and I expect nothing less from this unit

My Mother was brought there by EMS, I was told to go straight to ER’s front desk to let them know I’m there for my mom (mind you, my mother has a slurred speech and I wanted to be there to answer some questions the nurses/doctor might ask her) but when I went to the front desk they told me that they can’t let me in as my mother is already being taken cared of. I waited for awhile, I picked up the phone again to ask how my mother was doing because they refused to let me in. That’s when it all started when they finally let me in, the botox lady who’s wearing black shirt and pants who refused to let me in earlier was the one who picked me up and was very rude from the beginning, asked me who I am and what am I there for. I said I’m waiting for someone to let me in. I don’t know what her problem was, she rudely told me to enter while I was still waiting for her to open the ER door. I already felt that she wasn’t in the mood and probably was very stressed at work, that’s why picking me up at the ER’s front desk was another job for her. I was really worried about my mom and missed the door she was pointing as she was so fast walking in front of me. She instructed me again in a loud voice like I don’t understand English. I don’t know why she has to raise her voice for no apparent reason and let me feel that she’s not compassionate about the job that she’s doing. It felt like it was the biggest burden for her to just pick me up and show me the room where my mother was. It’s the worst experience someone could ever feel. I do understand that people can get tired and not in the best mood but that’s not an excuse to show little compassion to what you do and how you treat patients and their families.

Never in my life have I waited for 6+ hours even though my friend is in excruciating pain for her UTI. The nurses had no clue about the doctors availability and there was such poor communication. This hospital made me feel lost, stupid and insane. At this point, we are just going to leave and go to another Urgent Care because there is no point in coming to a building that acts as if they have no staff. We have been here since 9pm and it is currently 2am. We live in a different city. We could’ve gone to the hospital at the city (which is 1 1/2 hours away) and gotten the prescription in the time of us being here. Such a horrible emergency department. I remember last year my friend got misdiagnosed as well and ended up losing feeling in her hands because of an incompetent doctor. Overall, a horrible experience, horrible staff, horrible hospital.
12 July 2023 6:14
My mom was admitted May 29th with burns. The nurses were absolutely amazing. Thank you to all your hard work and dedication. My mom was treated with so much love and care.
Our family is so grateful for everything that was done to get our mom to a good healing stage in her life.
Thank you

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Every time I've gone has been horrible everyone is rude and talks down to you but this last time was enough. I'm 3 months pregnant I had bad cramps and throwing up like bad not anything normal. I go in right away the 2 men at emergency talking to me are laughing to each other being short with me and made me feel like my reason to be there was stupid. After they said go see the lady behind the door from emergency, I go up to 2 ladys who say "who are you" "well I don't know what they told you" I snapped on her. I don't know why everyone in there is so nasty and mean. I'll never go back ever. I left in tears and embarrassed they all made me feel little and stupid. After I was walking away I could still hear the women yell things to me. You don't treat anyone like this.the two boys at emergency desk were acting like kids laughing in class talking to me at the same time even the one looked at the other boy and said "were so bad at this together" I really hate this place. So gross don't go here st Joe's is so much better.

I know alot of people that have had worse experiences. Someone call the news and expose this place smh
10 June 2023 16:22
Why do we constantly have to be at the mercy of rude staff members? I just tried to book an appointment at the fracture clinic and the rudeness of the clerk making the booking was absolutely unbelievable! This is is third bad experience with staff members at this hospital. When will it end?
09 June 2023 15:09
My parents were in a life threatening accident and taken to Hamilton General they are from St. Catherines. I would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 6th floor step down unit who treated my Mom. I would also like to thank the doctors and nurses of ICU East who took care of my Dad. I can't thank everyone enough all the doctors nurses and Therapist that have helped my parents. Thanks so much Stacey Green
25 May 2023 7:18
I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. There’s been a couple of times where I’ve come in for testing/procedures and was nervous because of my anxiety disorder. All of the doctors I have met are so lovely and comforting. I’ll give a special shout-out to Betty Chui in the outpatient clinic and Ruth Smith in the medical diagnostic unit. Both lovely ladies.
08 May 2023 3:43
A potentially life-threatening condition, and the lack of care, and 0 compassion & rudeness from the staff. 6hrs
04 March 2023 9:39
During the day (busiest time) the staff were very warm and caring. However, in the evening things were PATHETIC! I had asked for a glass of water and 2.5 hours later they still hadn't brought me one. It was not busy either. Unfortunately I was here because my legs weren't working and I had a LOT of pain in my back. I asked for some pain relief and that was not brought to me either. Earlier they asked me if I wanted something to eat I said please as I had been brought in at 10am and at 2am I still had not received anything. If you need something, you better not hold your breath!
28 February 2023 11:28
My 93 year old mother was cared for extremely well. She even wrote a poem for praising Dr. Mohammed. Thank you for the special care!
26 February 2023 22:31
Waited months for an appointment and finally got one with a child psychiatrist for my boy. First appointment went 45 min over time. I emailed and asked them what the timing was for our next meeting as it was during my work day and zoom appointment. They said 30 min so I organized my day around this. I had 3 pages filled out by my sons teachers and did 3 on my own and sent them to their office.

On the day of the appt, the doctor showed up 20 min late to the zoom meeting without anyone notifying us they would be late. They left us in a virtual lobby watching the loading circle. It wasn’t until I called that someone came on.

Once the meeting started it was clear the doctor wasn’t prepared and hadn’t read any of the forms and barely remembered our first meeting. It was embarrassing.

I would highly recommend steering clear of this place as they cannot respect people’s time and are unable to manage their schedules in manner that doesn’t maximize their profits over your time. It’s a true customer service fail. Go elsewhere.
26 February 2023 14:04
I live out of town and was in visiting a relative. My brother needed to see a doctor to have som e reports read. We waited over 7 hours to see a doctor. During that time not one cleaning staff came came to.sweep.or wash the floors. There was masks on the floor, pop cans kicked under chairs and general.dirt and papers dropped all.over. You need to get a mask when you walk into the hospital but nobody wears them all the time. I ended up with covid after my time there. Where was the cleaning staff? 7 hours and no one cleaning?
06 January 2023 1:10
Wait wait wait.to long time still. Wait waited 18 hours to get medical treatment seriously worst medical in the world was wondering can travel to home country get fix earlier than you have chance to see read doctor.
05 January 2023 10:46
Once again staff were wonderful. I had an appointment in the EPS Lab on the fourth floor.
The nurses were all fantastic - I know I am going to miss some names - but the 2 main ones for me were Grace and Stacey. They made me feel comfortable the whole time, very experienced, very re-assuring and calming.
All of the staff from reception to the nurses in the OR Lab were fantastic. Thank to all of you - you are all wonderful
Last Friday I had an appointment in the HIU. From the person at admitting to the team in the unit to the doctors and nurses that performed my procedure, all were very friendly, professional and made me feel at ease. The entire team that has been looking after me from Dr. M Panju to Dr. Costa and their staff - all have been extremely helpful and wonderful.
Thanks to you all for doing such an incredible job. You are all very much appreciated.
07 July 2022 13:01
The cardiac catheterization team were amazing. So caring and went the extra mile for everyone. When I developed complications they were on things instantly. I can't say thank you enough to nurses on June 23 who made my procedure the best as possible. Dr tej Sheth is a very caring and talented doctor. Thank you for the great care. You are all in our prayers. Stay safe
05 July 2022 16:41
The worst hospital in city. Every single time I come here, I have to wait at least 6 to 10 hours to be released from emergency. The guy nurse in reception is the world’s rudest person.
31 May 2022 10:33
My mother was admitted to the Hamilton general hospital 9 days ago, am not giving the 5 stars to the hospital but rather the staff, (hospital maybe 3.5) at 8 South location of the hospital were all wonderful and helpful, concedering they are running with shortage of staff and overload of work. I usually don't like to mention names as their is no I in team. How ever it just so happened every time I went to visit my mother, this particular nurse happened to be working and was their with a helping hand she was very very friendly and with a lot of patience as my mothers English is not good, but try her best to make her comfortable. Thank you very much Megan McKennon, oh don't forget to eat as my mom would always tell you.
Thanks to the intire staff at 8 south general hospital ward. God bless you ️

I have never been so disappointed in our healthcare system since recently. My husband has been admitted twice within the last month for a potentially life threatening condition, and the lack of care and compassion from staff within this hospital is astonishing to say the least. Often times administration of important medications would happen up to two hours late. It’s unacceptable to watch someone suffer in pain when you are supposed to be in a place to help see you through your given health condition. Perhaps it stems from a staffing issue, I can’t say for sure, but something needs to change. If I wasn’t present to help my husband, his care would suffer even further. I cringe to think of what the conditions were like when visitors were restricted and patients didn’t have their loved ones to advocate for them.

I’m thankful for the glimmers of positivity within the hospital such as the cleaners and porters, for they showed compassion and care and offered a ray of sunshine in a very dark time.
17 May 2022 21:36
Great surgeon but very dirty on 6 west. Hope to never be in it again. Cleaning was not done in washrooms for over 2 days, they left urine measuring cups and dirty blood measuring cups on sink n on top of the garbage frame. The cleaning people were rude, and basically told me to clean what I felt I needed to with some wipes, after just having major spine surgery. Mop floors without sweeping first n just pushed garbage against base boards. Need more nurses to help patients.
12 May 2022 22:39
Was supposed to get emergency surgery a month ago but specialist wife needed Botox and he had to hold her hand,
After waiting a month and showed up at hospital all doors locked, couldn’t get in hospital in time to register, when I finally got in (I’m from out of town) my son and mother were with me, I’m told day before that’s fine only to be told by security at 545 that 1 has to leave, I asked to go we’re? My mother had to go up the street to Tim’s to wait,
When I finally got to pre op they had lost my charts with all my medical information and had to look for it, still waiting for operation
28 April 2022 22:34
My daughter was brought into this room to be seen by a doctor in the ER department. Here is a picture of the chair and floor she was directed to wait in: . Blood on the floor and chair, and the chair ripped up. This is a health hazard. And the Canadian government is paying for non tax payers/non canadians to use hospital services free-of-charge during covid. You think mass immigration isn't costing us? Yes it is! We cannot afford to pay for foreigners let alone offer quality healthcare bro Canadians: o (
20 April 2022 12:17
The doctor who saw my partner was efficient and empathetic. However, my partner came into the ER at 9: 30, screaming in pain and vomiting, and was left in that state until nearly 1: 30, with at least 2 hours in the waiting room. The nurse in the green zone triage area also was clearly not practiced with I. Vs, as she inserted it poorly causing discomfort in my partner's arm for hours, as well as forgetting to clip it closed, so her blood got all over the bed and floor. Overall our experience was not positive.
16 April 2022 13:14
After three visits over 6 months I finally seen a doctor, that told me to think of myself as a prehistoric animal and live with my broken bones despite the intense pain and inability to walk.
There is no help at all for people like me, I believe it's a racist problem.
Why did I attend 3 appointments, swipe my card 3 times only to be turned away without any help at all.
This defies explanation.
Perhaps I need a lawyer more than a doctor.
08 April 2022 5:16
I think Dr. Kachur is very unprofessional and rude. He scheduled me in for a zoom app. He did not show. So i took it upon myself to go into his office. He was not in and the receptionist called him only to have him scream and yell at this poor lady i heard her ask him to stop twice. So I left the office because i wasnt about to sit around and wait for him to come into the office and yell at me. So I left and I am hoping he calls me back without the anger and yelling.

Discharged my mother in a wheelchair, she could not walk and was very confused! She died 24 hrs later! Medical malpractice suit coming your way.
22 February 2022 22:33
I have nothing but good things to say about my treatment at HGH. Everyone from cleaners to the doctor's and nurses were all great.
06 January 2022 6:03
Very good, saved my moms life.
Dr.chan professional and caring. As well as the heart and stroke unit. Clean hospital! Staff also very nice and patient in directing us where to go! Thank you!
22 December 2021 22:57
My daughter had surgery there in 2016, spent 2 weeks in ICU from complications and she just had another surgey 2 weeks ago. The nurses/doctors/PSW/staff are very kind and try to do their best in this busy hospital to help you with your recovery, questions, etc. Even the Cafe & Gift shop staff are kind. They have been there for us at our worst time (2016) and just recently. No hospital is perfect but HGH comes very close! A shout out to Dr. Algird! He is so compassionate and patience, answering all of our questions. Thank you HGH! Xo

This is my first at HAMILTON GENERAL HOSPITAL.
It was not my choice. I called paramedics and this where they brought me to get treated for Covid. I have been here since Monday Night October 18th. And I'm still here. As you can see from the picture I had to tape a sheet protect my self from the brisk of cold coming from the window. It's atleast 0 Celsius. Blowing on my face a my bed it right beside this window. I've told my nurse he was every understanding about it but he said unfortunately there's no other room to put you in. I'm already having the worst time because of my condition and now I'll also have cold breeze on my back. Come on! There's not enough blanket to cover me from this cold.
28 November 2021 11:29
Got bit by a dog and got a rabies shot right away. The entire emergency staff is great. Would 100% recommend if you need medical treatment! Thanks!
28 November 2021 9:55
I would like to send a very big thanks to the ICU West staff and the surgeon and team that operated on my brother. The staff was caring and patient with the family and our brother. And we were impressed at how calm they were when we had momentary bouts of panic at times when visiting. They allowed us to call 24/7 with any questions and just to see how he was doing. I did call one day at 1: 30 am as I was worried. The nurse was calming and patient with me.thank you, I slept better.
07 November 2021 12:08
They charge for parking at this hospital, that’s f’d up…what a disgusting money grab…also this hospital is like a borderline third world hospital…. No wonder there is attempted money grabs.
01 November 2021 13:41
This is the best hospital I have ever been to! I have very complicated autoimmune/inflammatory issues that no one has ever been able to diagnose… until now! The amazing dr’s and nurses were incredible, kind, caring and went above and beyond! They were some of the first people to ever take my health issues seriously and say “we will not give up until we can figure this out and help you. ” And they did! They have given me my life back! I cannot say thank you enough! And while my medical issues will never really go away, the ER staff has done an incredible job of making the hospital a safe, caring place to be when the conditions get out of control. Seriously, this place is amazing! ️
24 October 2021 23:56
I had a good experience at this Hospital. I was there on September 8th, 2021.
Let me start by saying this Hospital isn’t the newest, a bit old, but it was clean. Washrooms are kept very clean.
The triage nurse was very nice,
felt very cared for, the staff at this hospital was superb, although I went in on a very busy day, I saw a high level of compassion and care from everyone working there that day, never felt ignored.
My Dr was as busy as everyone else, but when he spoke to me, didn’t made feel rushed, I was able to ask all questions and got all my answers. Dr. Drew Bernard, was wonderful.
I have to say that because of the extraordinary staff on the day; I can say that I didn’t mind how long it was going to take to have my results back. All process took the average 4 hours but the experience was excellent.
20 July 2021 0:16
I was brought in for heart problems by ambulance. The hey stuck me in the waiting room which is full of people not social distancing. I waited for hours no update but more people in the waiting room. I left and will take my chancing dying opposed to getting COVID and dying. Never go here
27 June 2021 4:37
To the nurse who was rude as hell with me earlier tonight when I called to get an update on my Mom Betty Geroux, shame on you for being so rude and unpleasant by hanging up on me and lying to me as to the fact my Mom isn't there. I hope you never have to go through what I'm dealing with. As to Mom's nurse Darlene, thank you so much for being a prime example of what every nurse should be, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me updates on my Mom.

The Hamilton General Hospital (HGH) is a major teaching hospital in Downtown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, located at the intersection of Barton Street East and Victoria Avenue North. It is operated by Hamilton Health Sciences and is formally affiliated with the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University.

HGH is one of the largest cardiac surgical centres in Canada, performing over 1,600 open heart surgeries annually. The hospital generated C$182,000,000 of research income in 2013, second to the University Health Network amongst research hospitals in Canada, and representing 14.8% of its income.

Founded in 1848, the hospital became a part of Hamilton Health Sciences in 1996 when Hamilton General, Henderson General, McMaster University Medical Centre, McMaster Children's Hospital and Chedoke Hospital merged. This union formed one of the largest teaching hospitals in Ontario, operating across four sites with approximately 8,000 employees and 1,000 physicians. Other hospitals soon followed.

The hospital is equipped with a rooftop helipad (TC LID: CPK3). Hamilton General Hospital is a regional centre specializing in cardiac and vascular care, neuroscience, trauma and burn treatment, stroke and rehabilitation. It is home to the state-of-the-art Dofasco Heart Investigation Unit; one of the province’s few rooftop heliports; a Level 1 trauma centre and the second busiest burn unit in Ontario. Also located at the General site are the Regional Rehabilitation Centre and the David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute.

The David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute is a research centre located behind the Hamilton General Hospital. It is home to more than 400 staff and researchers. The new building with 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2) opened 11 March 2010. At least 250 new jobs will be added to the local economy. David Braley, for whom the institute is named, contributed $10-million towards the project.

The worst hospital I’ve been too. EVER! Waiting literally god dam 9 hours with extreme abdominal pain without ever seeing a doctor. Thanks for nothing.
21 April 2021 9:08
I was admitted Feb 15th of this year due to a severe ankle dislocation/break. The team that did my resets, xrays, surgery and particularly follow-up in the Orthopedic ward were fantastic! I had a 5 day stay & met many staff. 99% of my experience was 5 star. The ER staff seem a bit overworked and one nurse there was quite indifferent to my needs but every other person went out of their way to make it a very positive experience.
14 February 2021 6:24
I am a patient in the Neuroscience wing, Dr. Barbara Connolly is my specialist. She's kind, caring, and invested in quality of life for her patients.

Also, I ended up in the Hamilton ER for herniating a couple discs in my lower spine. From the nurses, to the Intern who was looking after me, to the radiology team who took such great care of me, helping me while they were taking x-rays.they put my comfort first. They'd ask if I can get into this position or that position. I'd do it, but when they saw how I was straining to hold the position, they'd make me lay back down and rethink how to do it without me suffering so much. They were all just simply amazing, The ER doctor came to see me when I was almost ready to leave, and I felt her genuine concern for my comfort and care.
14 February 2021 1:32
My son currently is dealing with a serious heart condition and the wonderful Staff at the cardiac clinic are superb. The MRI nurses were above and beyond, keeping him comfortable with the procedure completed for the tests. I could not have asked for such a blessing during this difficult time especially with Covid19 and all the restrictions and procedures to ensure that we are all kept safe.
23 January 2021 4:55
I was just in Hamilton General Hospital after my car accident and the entire hospital was awesome! From the top doctor to the cleaning guy and everyone in between were amazing! I went from the ER to Trauma 6 South in room 4, and the whole Trauma team in the ER were quick, professional and kind, then I was transferred to the Trauma department on the 6th floor, and I made as comfortable as possible but I still had a neck collar on for my safety. The next morning, the doctor in charge of clearing the spine damage came in and told me that she come back in the afternoon and hopefully remove my collar, I told her I couldn't eat with the collar on, she went out of her way to read my scans asap and came back in 10 minutes and she told me that I could have my collar off, it was a game changer in my comfort and she knew it, hence why she made such a huge effort to try and help get the collar off me as fast as she could, her name was Doctor Jasmine. Then my nurse for the day walked in and introduced herself as Laurel, she, to date is one of the kindest most compassionate nurse I've ever had! The other nurses that took care of me were so eager to serve me and take care of me! Their names were Vittoria (so cheerful), Bead (no nonsense, but kind and caring) Matt (so eager to get things done quickly and carefully) and Jen (who shared in my joy of being able to go home) just to name a few of the amazing crew of nurses that stood round the clock to take care of me! All the porters, and scanning/testing crews, the cleaning guy and the physiotherapist who took care of me, were so kind to me and treated me like one of their own! The cooks did their best to cook good food and you could tell in the quality of the food, it was the best hospital food I'd seen or had. To everyone at Hamilton General Hospital both if I named you by name or if I forgot your names (I'm truly sorry for forgetting your names) or if I never knew your names, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all you did for me during the time I was there and for all your kindness and compassion to me! I wish you all the best in life! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each and everyone of you!
13 January 2021 16:19
Absolutely ridiculous waited in emergency for over 3 hours with many people being seen before me who were there after me never seen service like this in my life also had waited over an hour just for the fellow beside me name to be called when we were the only two people left in emerge
There was also a rude security guard at the front desk (for covid screening) when I had asked the lady next to him if there was a washroom she said yes and he rudely bugged in and told me no
Your running a hospital here so act like it and this was just NOT it
11 January 2021 12:57
Worse experience ever I had visiting my daughters Dad he has bad liver and there getting him Tylenol for pain I was reading online that liver damage isn’t good taken Tylenol for liver damage that makes it worse

Sending thanks and warm thoughts to all of you who are working through these challenging times.
You are the true heroes and we appreciate you and your sacrifices more than words can say.
Thanks for being there for us.

E R visit Feb 7/20 I spent about 4hrs which I realise is normal, But at the end of my exam they gave me a form and diagnoses was put as sore throat. I am 81, have had many serious surgeries and would never go to a ER with a "sore throat" it was more than that. I had painful ear aches, shots of pain going up behind my ear and jaw and up the back of my head, =right side. I had tried pain meds and gargle but nothing relieved pain. So I just wanted noted that this was not just a "sore throat" as stated on the form.

The staff at Hamilton General are some of the most expert and compassionate people I have ever met. My 95 year old father was recently there for a delicate and complex procedure. The staff went way above and beyond to make my dad as comfortable and confident as possible. I can't say enough about the fine people I like to refer to as "angels of this earth".
13 April 2020 15:52
Horrible wait times, we have been here for 3 hours, Not ONE person has been called in to be seen from the waiting room yet! No one to ask for information. Hospital is very dirty. Worse than the BGH and that's saying something. Never again.
07 April 2020 22:36
I just wanted to write in about my positive experience with the MRI Dept today. I had an early morning appointment, and I was checked in immediately. The staff along the way were all so kind and positive, which I imagine is quite difficult in a hospital setting. The appointment ran smoothly and I have zero complaints. While parking is pricey, it is what it is! I loved being able to park at the top of the parking garage and walk through the little bridge to the building.
04 April 2020 6:35
This place is terrible you are better off going to the jurvaski hospital on the mountain.bad service and extremely long wait times
13 March 2020 14:37
Dislocated my shoulder and was sent home and told I was fine, went to a new hospital the next day after pain continued and was told my shoulder was out. How does a emergency room at a hospital send someone home with a shoulder hanging out of its socket and assume everything is fine?

Was taken here after experiencing a stroke. The Doctors here had my licence revoked and when I had returned to work the ordeal of having to retrieve it was troublesome, to say the least. I could work, but I couldn't drive for ~ 3 months until I received my licence back from the Ministry of Transportation. All they had to do was tell me not to drive until I was given the green light, by them. Now I have to go to the Ministry of Transportation in person when I need to renew my licence. No more online transactions. Had issues with the meds they put me on, had issues at work, had issues with my family Doctor. These Doctors have hurt me more than they have helped me.

Worst ER experience we’ve ever had and we’ve been to a lot of them since our son has hypotonic cerebral palsy and bronchiectasis. My wife had a car accident and was taken there. They didn’t clean any of her wounds. She had glass in her hands and her scalp. She took the glass out of her scalp herself. She told the nurse there was glass in her hand and the nurses response was ‘all those small pieces of glass will eventually work themselves out of your body’. They did a CT to check for broken bones and stuff, checked for concussion, but she left with dirty cuts and scrapes and bleeding knee and bleeding scalp with dirt and debris all the two wounds up there.

Amazing doctors and nurses. Emergency
staff were caring and attentive. Tanya made me feel comfortable and cared for as did her peers. Paramedics that got me there were professionals.
Thank you

The whole team in cardiac surgery ICU took really prompt and attentive care to my needs. Erin stood out even more as she was very kind and assertive in anything that I needed. She felt like family with her positive attitude and care. She knew everything about everything and explained to me how things worked before she did them. Shes really smart and good with her hands and had a perfect attitude.

They have AMAZING poutine here in the basement cafeteria. Doctors and nurses were good too, but you should go there mainly for the poutine

You make an appt which takes months with the fracture clinic only to wait over 3 hours. Apparently we need to respect their time but they are 100% negligent about our time. What makes it worse was we didn't even see the dr we booked with. Living out of town added 3 hours to a horrible experience.shamme on you for disrespecting your patients.

Do not ever come here to the emergency! You will wait 4 hours minimum before you see a medical person.

I recently experienced a visit to this hospital with my 88 year old father who needed heart surgery. The Doctors were very good with him and some of his nursing staff were good. I know how busy the staff is in certain areas and can understand being under stress but I do not understand the sheer ignorance of some of these workers who treat you like you are nothing but a pain in their behind when dealing with the public. My father was kept overnight and myself and my two siblings called the hospital in the morning to find out his condition. I think that would be a most common practice from his children. Upon reaching the switchboard both myself and my sibling were greeted with a nasty ignorant person who obviously hated her job - she was quick and harsh and should never have been dealing with the public in any capacity. After a struggle I was connected to the area where my father was a patient and someone that sounded like they were on the verge of hysteria answered the phone. When I inquired about his condition I was told that this was the second call they had received that morning, that they do not answer questions over the phone and to keep the calls to a minimum and from one person on a contact list. It was like I was being told off for inquiring about my fathers condition. I was astonished at such treatment and I feel that any member of the public that wants an update on their loved one should be entitled to hear an update without being treated as if they had no right to inquire. This inquiry was about the issue of his condition and if he would be released that day due to the fact that someone would be coming from out of town to get him and needed notice as soon as they knew. Nothing but sheer ignorance and impatience with anyone that dare ask for any information. The switchboard staff and the people that answer the phones in the separate units need to make a huge change and stop being nothing but nasty and smart with the public. I or anyone else inquiring about their loved ones condition should never be treated in such a terrible way. Shocking to say the least. If they cannot do the job and at least be a little pleasant, they should not be doing that job. No need for the ignorance displayed to the public

My mother was rushed to the General this evening for emergency surgery and received excellent care. My only critique is that when my elderly father and I arrived at the ward where my mother had been transported from Joseph Brant, the staff at the nursing station ignored us. However the two nurses that came from JB ran to us when they saw us, to facilitate us getting the best of care. Staff now communicated with us and were extremely helpful. IT would appear that all staff are so busy that addressing visitors and family inquiries are way low down on the food chain. I'm ok with that if the patient receives all their attention. Thank you for saving my mother.

Easily one of the worst hospitals i ever had the “honour” of visiting. Aside the surgeons (who are incredible at their jobs especially for trauma related purposes) the nursing staff should probably work at a jail not hospital. Zero sympathy or empathy for trauma patients. Rude demeanour to the family members and absolutely zero help when necessary. At one point they were copying my notes instead of being there themselves doing their jobs. I was confronted by a front desk nurse that saw me multiple times leaving in and out in the same day within few hours but I guess her memory has long failed her since she pretended to remember nothing and gave me an extremely hard time to check me back in. As if she enjoyed it when i was clearly in huge distress and mentally vulnerable. I feel bad for people that dont get much visitors and have to rely on their outrageous service. I understand working in trauma is not pleasant and requires a special type of a person but none of the nurses ive met were that type of a person. Once again the attitude is more suitable for prisons than hospitals. Huge shame and totally affected my trust in our healthcare. God bless anyone that has to go there and deal with them. Overworked understaffed and unhelpful. Id give zero stars and would continue my rant but remembering the experience just makes me upset all over again. Be warn.

Time to knock down some walls and expand your operations, I think you could EXPAND your waiting rooms. Just like you expand your Condo or Home for Renovations. Someone’s not using the funding for the peoples sake? And if everyone else is too dumb not to see it, than I must be a smart guy.

In a nutshell, had an appointment for 11: 15 am and did not even make it passed the reception area until 3: 30pm. The employees at the reception area simply lie to you regarding your wait time. Yes over 4 hours of waiting time with an appointment. The so called "Free health care system" at it's best.

The worst emergency ever. No care given. Waiting 3 hours and still haven't been seen. Went to Burlington emergency instead and waited no longer than 1 hour and they were busier. A lady was laying on the ground in emergency at general and no staff seem to have a care
