I have been going here for many years since they opened. They have always been professional, efficient and caring with my pets, and friendly with me. Even though they are a busy Hospital, they always remember my pets and their specific needs. My cats have specific dietary needs, and will always special order me the food whenever I need it. They always make follow-up calls, are reasonably priced, never push for unnecessary services, always leaving it to the owners to decide based on the information they provided. I have referred family members here and they too have maintained their services, even though this particular Hospital wasn't the closest, and that is purely due to the service received. Thank you for all your help over the years.

I came here in March 2020 for my cat (age 16) since she wasn't eating. All they did was weigh her and without any tests done randomly told me it would cost $2,000 to help her. I was in my early 20's at the time so I couldn't hope to afford that. I was scared for my cat I'd had her entire life and came here hoping someone could help her but all they did was take advantage of how emotional and young I was at that moment and charged me for as many things possible including not even 5 minutes for her to be in an oxygen box. They made me think the only option was to put her down so I did that and it wrecked me and destroyed me to the point I was sobbing in the lobby and all they cared about was getting my money. I'll regret coming here for the rest of my life because of how much of a scam this hospital was. Please don't ever come here.

They are always so quick to schedule an appointment to see our dogs, especially on the occasion of any emergencies or what we feel is urgent. Their follow up is impeccable! After the initial visit we received a phone call to check in on our dog, we also received an email with lab results, along with an email to explain the results in simplest form for us. We highly recommend putting your pet in their care. Honest and reliable.

The staff was so kind and wonderful! I wish to thank the Vet, the assistant and technician. They truly cared about my dog's well being. She died that day, and the staff were compassionate

I would give more than one star if they would have told me over the phone that I would get charged for medical and to be seen. I was told the only fee was $59 to bring her in and nothing else. They charged me so much money for the "brand name" medicine. They also told me my dog might have cancer, but every 6 months she gets her allergies. Cancer doesn't go away and come back. I'll be confirming with my actually vet because of the medicine I've never heard of before. That vet I saw told me a bunch of stuff that did scare me. They tried to get me to buy all this stuff as well and with all this blood work and x rays. I'm more so mad because I got lied to on the phone. If your going to charge someone for medical and a walk in tell them the actual price. Also don't say stuff that with scare pet owners and tell the truth about prices.

Went in for neuter and shots for my cat the vet spoke with a under tone accusing us if being stupid and when asked to speak with some respect he sits up bulge his eyes and kept saying yeah yeah "mockery" he than slaps me with over 1100. $ bill saying all is a must i told him i only want the neuter and his shots the bill came back over 900 bucks i packed up and walked out

I would suggest taking your pet and wallet somewhere else. This place is run by incompetent scumbags.

Was able to secure an appointment that was convenient to my work schedule; the vets took the time to look at my sons dog who hasn’t been feeling well. Due to my son’s financial situation, they waived the fee and sent them home some instructions.
Your kindness was appreciated towards my sons plight.

I was worried about visiting this clinic after reading reviews, but my dog needed attention sooner than any other clinic could accommodate.

We were well informed and given options for care. At no time did I feel pressured to spend needlessly. In the end the bill was as I would expect from any other vet I've visited in the past

Have had a few pets need to be put down due to being sick. Staff are friendly and compassionate. They are open 7 days a week. I find them more expensive then most vets because they are one of the few open on weekends.

I don’t know about other animals, but the main doctor did not appear to be knowledgeable about small birds. The doctor’s assistant and the woman at the front seem nice, but the doctor himself is quite crass.

The first time I was there was a few months back when one of my budgies was very sick. From the beginning he didn’t seem to have any compassion for the little creatures rather made a couple jokes about her DEATH.

She unfortunately did pass away and when my mom went to take her there to get her cremated, she was crying because our budgies are very important to us, but the doctors ignored her emotions.

Fast forward to recently, I had to take my budgies (a boy and girl this time) in for a checkup and after keeping us waiting for over half an hour, the doctor comes in. The budgies were very poorly handled and without even looking at the girl properly the doctor tells us “oh, she’s very sick”.

The more he “examined” her, the more confused he appeared - for instance he took her temperature and called it ok, but then he took the boy’s temperature and saw it was a bit lower so he concluded that she has a fever when both of their temperatures were below average. He also appeared to be confused about the severity of her “issue”.

Furthermore, the doctor’s ideas on bird diet may be good for bigger birds, but not budgies. And even this time, he made a joke about my birds dying?

I get it, there are small creatures, but that doesn’t mean their lives don’t matter!

The few times we’ve been here, it’s because this was the easiest place to get an appointment, but I rather wait an extra day and make sure my birds get the proper treatments and CARE.

They are amazing they have saved my dogs life more then once when no one else would. They go above and beyond they actually care.

Expensive/Constant Up-selling /Good polite staff & assistants/Found the vet Very UN-interested after hard sell attempts were declined.

Tried to charge me $501.00 for an ear infection meds and cleaning of the ear
When I complained in utter shock.he brought it down to $324.00

We want to thank all the staff at Hamilton Road Animal Hospital. Our dog was very sick, the care they took to make her better, and explaining it all along the way. Coming in on Christmas Day to give her a treatment. Thank you for the best care. We highly recommend this amazing team.

Very busy & hard to hear over the phone, but staff polite & professional. Beware the very small/tight parking lot. Very expensive, but had no choice due to an emergency.

Took in a sick, 14 year old cat. Did a thorough inspection and gave us our (poor) options. Requested antibiotics and vitamin shot and brought him home. He passed peacefully within 10 minutes of being home.

Huge money grab. I took my cat in and they pressured me to pay for a blood test that is not recommend by other vets. Did not give any explanation for a diagnosis, and told me to "look it up on the internet".

This is by far the worst clinic in the city. I had a late night emergency for my dog as my vet was closed so I went here. The owner assessed her literally for 30 seconds and handed me a piece of paper that had 16 things he wanted her to be treated for I laughed and said give me meds for her fever until I get I to my vet tomorrow. It would have been thousands of dollars if I did what he wanted. He didn't like me saying no left me in the room and never came back. I took my dog to my vet cost me $211. He's a money hungry crook. My vet agreed knowing his reputation.

Warning do not take your pet to this place! They will man handle sick pets and then charge you over $1000 for euthanasia but wait if u cant pay that they will barter with you and fight over 60$ there is no way anyone should be charged over 600$ that was their second quote and when you say this is all i have and its 60$ short of the $300 they went down to they will refuse u service send you home and call animal welfair on you because you have left with a sick animal that they have refused to treat because you don't have enough money. Heres hoping none of these vets ever need emergency health care and cant afford it! Never will i ever take a pet here again horrible bedside manner and price gougers

They charge your for things you didn’t ask for in the first place with no communication until you get the bill. This place is a total scam.
Update: they never gave me an invoice before treatment, I’m not the only one with this complaint!

The only thing good about this place is there hours, I have a very hard time understand them as there english is not clear. And the secreatary she is a lady maybe 55 or early 60s she is very rude and they need to replace her. I went in cause I new I needed to put my dog down and they came to me with a price of 1178.00, I had just put my other dog down in Feb, So I new that was b.s. Needless to say I left and went to another doctor and paid what I paid for my last dog which was 646.00 cremation and returned. So please do not let these people take advantage of you this place is a joke.

I'd like to start with I've been a client and referring clients to Hamilton Road for a couple years. I knew they were pushy as complained about in previous reviews but aside from that had no issue. That was until yesterday.
I took my dog in for a neuter. He was healthy, happy, and bouncy. They called saying they were starting, they called to say they were done with no issues, and then they called an hour later to say my dog could not move his hind quarters. I was devastated. They said they'd run tests - as well they should - and let me know. With no answers in house he was sent to Guelph where they reviewed his case and checked him over again. As of now no one can tell me what happened or how. All I know is I had to drive my two children to Guelph at 9pm at night to say goodbye to their beloved pet because the specialist said he would never recover. He'd never live a full life even if he did survive and improve over multiple surgeries. We did what we felt was best for our boy. Our baby boy has crossed over the rainbow road because I trusted these people to do a routine procedure. I urge others to listen to my experience and really absorb what happened. I trusted these vets to care for my dog. Trusted them to deliver answers. To care that while in their custody something happened that paralyzed my dog from the waist down.

UPDATE May 19th, 2018

As I can not reply to the owners comment I will give an update here. Our boys autopsy is not back. The vet has no way to know with the confidence he has that our dog had a pre-existing condition. This reply shows - as does his others - that accountability and compassion severely lack with this office. 1000s of procedures or not. That does not change this particular outcome. Please, please, existing clients and inquiring new ones. Really read into the tone in which this man puts out to complaints and concerns. Our baby is gone and we do not feel this Vet cares for our loss under his care. His demeanor has not been sympathetic to us or our heart wrenching loss but completely defensive. I only hope these reviews and updates help save someone heartache and frustration.

Worst clinic in London Ontario. I only took my dog here because I had no choice. It’s a money grab, the main vet who’s also the owner is very nonchalant, he wants to get things out of the way quick. Even when my dog was struggling he showed no compassion and just wanted to get the euthanasia done. I decided to go ahead because I could see how much my little one was struggling, but never in my life will I ever attend.this clinic ever again. If you care about your pets, please find alternative options. Not worth it, our little ones deserve the best care.

We had a minor emergency situation with a feral cat that we don't intend to keep.
They took care of us quickly. Pricing was very, very expensive. Very.

Yikes. Do not go here. The vets ignore whatever you have to say and demand thousands of dollars for completely unnecessary tests. This place is a scam. I will never come back to his place - not even as a last resort.

The staff were very friendly and got my cat in a few minutes earlier than the scheduled time, made everything easy to understand and explained in depth how to treat him. Quite a bit more expensive than I was prepared for but worked with what I could manage. I would definitely recommend

My wife and I appreciated the professionalism of their staff and how knowledgeable those who were providing care to our cat were.

Worst Vet / clinic. I was told my elderly pug needed X-rays to determine the cause of her pain / lack of appetite etc. I agreed and the vet informed me that someone would call me back in a couple days with results and treatment options Never received a call back!
Checkup, useless X-rays, wet Dogfood and a few doggie aspirins = $2200
He also tried to sell me additional surgery. Overall a horrible experience.

Awful service. Waste of time and money. Do not take your animals here unless you enjoy being ripped off.

Brought my Guinea pig in to be checked for bloat as a precaution. The staff clearly didn’t know how to handle Guinea pigs and my animal seemed quite uncomfortable during the whole exam. Between the two people (who never introduced themselves properly) they checked her nose, eyes, ears, and backend at least 4 times each which seemed excessive all the while my Guinea pig was clearly distressed. They struggled to take her temperature with a thermometer that they “cleaned” with a toothpaste looking substance, and stuck it in her lady parts while she squeaked from discomfort. I have taken my Guinea pigs to other vets several times and have never had them handled this rough. I had to stop myself from jumping up and grabbing her out of their hands. Throughout this whole process they never said what they were doing or why. They just did the exam as if I wasn’t there, except when the asked the same routine questions over and over. After they were done poking and prodding one of them still held onto my animal while discussing next steps as if they were expecting to whisk her away to have tests done. And then came the suggestions and costs. They suggested doing X-rays to rule out the bloat and other issues and also bloodwork which there was no indication for. And then they said it would be over $800! That is almost as much as it cost me to have internal surgery done on one of my pigs which included: the exam, surgery, anesthesia, medication, and follow up exam. I have had X-rays done on my pigs before but it was less than $300 including the exam. There is no reason for having prices that are 2-3 times higher than other vets especially when the service is abysmal. There is NO EXCUSE for the awful service I received. My Guinea pig didn’t get her X-rays done that I wanted and we will never be returning. And if they reply saying that I’m not in their system that is just their way of dealing with negative reviews, which is also extremely unprofessional.

We had to take Mona in for an what we thought was her last days with us.

Hamilton Road Animal Hospital saved her and although I was a MESS and unable to understand / comprehend what was actually happening they helped me and did everything to make sure she was okay.

He even took my # home incase someone got back to him over the night with anything for Mona.

He called me first thing in ths morning to check in on her and again tonight before closing. My dog is eating again, and starting to come back to being her normal self! We are beyond thankful to have our dog saved by this vet over the weekend thank you so much for saving Mona-

My wife and I brought our puppy for his shots we were hoping the get the shots and ask some questions make a rapour with the vet for a long term vet patient relationship he came into room pushy and agitated seemed to be upselling and seemed too good for us didn't explain anything just kept saying how much he wasnt making on the vaccines we didn't care how much he was Making we just wanted to know what we were getting and why then at payment time there was discrepancies in invoices and almost charged extra hundred dollars thank thank God for the pleasant informative receptionist.we were very disappointed we will be looking for a vet with a good personality this poor review isn't about the cost it's about the rammy impatient attitude we got throughout the visit and especially when we wanted to examine the invoices we were hoping for a friendly informative dr

Amazing caring, compassionate professionals. I was nervous as I was brought my foster kitty in for some serious conditions that worsen over night. They were so gentle and willing to answer questions. It's experiences with professionals like this that make us people want to continue fostering/adopting animals.

I would like to share my experience. My dog was not feeling well and I went in on a Sunday. The doctor showed very little interest in my dogs care. Without evaluating my dogs condition and properly explaining to me, they scheduled every test possible for my dog. My bill came to over $1,500.

They sent a report a day later saying the dog had an ear infection and “closed the file”.

As a young girl who was worried about my dog they took advantage of me. They ordered tests that were not necessary and all this clinic cares about is getting as much money as possible from clients. I am very upset about this entire ordeal.

My partner made an appointment due to my dog having an ear infection today, the whole team was very friendly. However, upon checking my dog, the vet started saying a bunch of things that my dog would need and he was fine with it until the vet asked what his job was and quoted him $500 for the treatment. He said it seemed too much, and he lowered the price to $269. It just left a bad taste in his mouth, and just decided to leave. The vet only cares about the $$$.

Called on Sun at 9am for my sick kitty. They took him in at my convenience and were absolutely wonderful. Not rushed and very accommodating. Forwarding my visit records to my regular vet without me asking. Thank you for helping my furbaby. Happy you were there especially when there is no emergency vet service in London anymore.

We took our dog in because it had a sore paw. After many tests and x-rays, nothing came back wrong with my dog, but the bill came to 2200$ Two days later my dog was fine. I feel they took advantage of us by their over zealous treatment plan. I'm not sure what tax bracket they live in but they certainty have no regard for peoples hard earned money.

Excellent location to take your pet. They are open and accommodating when most other clinics are not. The veterinarian really cares about your animal. I would recommend this location to anyone that likes honesty and reasonable rates.

The staff are very caring They call back to follow up how your pet family members are doing There are very good hours to suit many schedules we are very fortunate to have this animal clinic on our community

Not the type to leave a bad review but today we experienced the most absolute disrespectful interaction from the moment stepped in the clinic, first off the receptions wasn’t professional at all and extremely rude.it’s hard enough to have a dog that isn’t feel well but to feel disrespected and not welcome somewhere where you would think they care about pets just didn’t seem right.very bad at explaining things and pretty much made us sit around because they forgot to tell us we could go.

Wasn’t a clean environment and the doctor was glued to his computer and barley even looked at the dog.didn’t understand half the things that I said and kept questioning things over and over again.wouldn’t recommend this clinic whatsoever, was cheap but definitely worth spending the extra $$ to go somewhere else.

They were accommodating which was nice and we appreciate that but once again defiantly won’t be going back nobody there seemed to like there job I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and sorry but the receptionist/vet tech Sherri was a b**** from the moment we stepped inside. Had to bring my fur baby there very sick Aylmer vet wouldn't take her. Fever. Hypothyroidism. Pneumonia. Took her right away. So blessed for them. She is so much better now. 5 is not enough 10.

Very grateful for them taking us right away and stitching up my pup, especially when the emergency clinic had a 12+ hour wait. They did a great job, lady on the front desk is the absolute best. She is definitely the most compassionate person I met there. My pup is very attached to me and funny with new people and he did just fine. The rest of the staff is very knowledgeable as is the Doctor, but very straightforward. If you are looking for a super social, chatty vet, this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing to fix up your furry friend, this is definitely a place I would recommend! !

Brought my dog here because his regular vet couldn't get him in soon enough and the "vets" (there were 3 of them!) were very rough with him even after I said he is a rescue and does not like men.they continuously pulled the leash out of my hand and dragged him across the floor, I had to take the leash back several times and hold him myself because he was urinating and shaking as they yanked at him. I am not happy at all they had no respect for his past trauma and did not respect me as the owner. I will never return here and do not recommend this place to anyone that truly cares about their pet.terrible experience.except the amazing female vet technician that handled my boy, she was so gentle and sweet to him, so thank you to her for at least making the first half of his visit comfortable.

This vet was a bit delayed had my appointment at 230 and the vet was not able to see me until 330 (I imagine some appointments run long so not a big deal) but I had called the day previous and they got us in quick with my sick guinnie pig the next day. He took one look at my piggy and said he needed a specialist and recommended me 2 spots and did not charge me for seeing the pig. They were professional, helpful and a clean area. I will definitely be going here again for any of my pets needs! Thank you

Saved my 11 year old Collie/Shepherd`s backside when he gashed the inside of his throat with a sharp stick! Been here several times and still there is not enough words to describe how much they care and do to assure your animals health is taken care of! From the vets to the reception, your dog is loved by them as much as you love them. Thank you Hamilton Road Animal Hospital, he made a full recovery and is back to his energetic old self. (Pic is when he got home from surgery and 5 days later being the 11 year old nutcase we all love)

We had made last minute travel plans and I needed to get my dog's vaccinations up to date so I could board my dog. My regular vet had a 3 week wait so I came here. What a LOUSY experience! I am so annoyed!

The Doctor and his assistant appeared to both be afraid of my friendly German Shepherd.

When the Doctor and his assistant walked into the exam room they kept their distance and went right to the computer screen. Completely ignored my dog and during the entire time there made no attempt to get acquainted with my dog or me. The Doctor ratted off questions to me asking if I had any concerns and didn't even act like he cared to address them.

What really annoyed me is that he held this 5 inch flash light and flashed it at my dog holding it into his eyes from several feet away. He also waved it around the air a couple times and said "looks good".

He didn't take any time to administer a proper exam. No exam of his body, mouth, eyes, etc. He did check his pulse and combed through a small section of hair checking for fleas after I said my dog didn't have any.

A second time he asked if I had concerns, and I mentioned again that my dog chews himself. He then named a drug and handed me a pamphlet, nothing more. A few minutes later he noticed a chewed spot (from a distance) and I had to tell him for a third time that my dog chews himself.

All in all this absolutely SUCKED! I will NOT be returning. If I wasn't in a bind to get the vaccinations this week I would have left.

The only nice thing I can say is that there is a couple lovely women receptionists who were very friendly.

My new puppy needed a vet today and my vet was closed. I called Hamilton animal hospital at 9 am and they took us at 11.30. I was so impressed with the receptionist as were with the doctor's. Puppy seems better as on 3 meds daily. Thank you Hamilton A. Hospital.

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful veterinary clinic! They went way above and beyond showing compassion and sympathy during my families time of tragedy.

I brought my cat in the day before I called back for his blood work. At first they told me they didn't have anyone under that name. I was just there the day before! Then they told me he was sick. And said what I can do. After saying thank you, he hung up. I felt like they just don't care. They didn't ask if I had any questions or concerns. Which I did. But he hung up on me. Obviously this is a hard time for me, and I feel like they are just there to do their jobs period. They could have some more compassion.

Was a bit of a wait because they had other pets to put to sleep and emergency surgeries. The only thing that should have been told to me, just not leave me sitting in a room. It was a heartbreaking experience.

We recently had an emergency with our Saint Bernard, this aninal hospital and the Veterinarians there did everything they could to help our baby. The staff is beyond professional and are extremely compassionate. This was our first time going to them as they are open great hours and respond to calls as soon as you dial. We have only attended them for follow up and will continue to keep them as our primary vet, as they treat our furbabies as their own.

Very friendly receptionist. They helped me in a dire situation on the weekend. My normal vet was not open. Sadly their services were very expensive compared my own vet but likely this was weekend & emergency pricing.

They made time to see my hamster as an emergency visit, within 15 mins of calling them they were attending to her. She sadly was very sick and needed to be put down. Even though I was crying and barely able to speak they managed to communicated effectively and compassionately to me. I would recommend their services, and they will be where I go from now on.

Great hours but they oversell themselves on their website

I took my cat here because all of the other clinics were closed over the holidays. Their website claimed they were a "full service animal hospital" and offered "comprehensive care". When I arrived I was informed they were unable to do anything more than what the London Emergency Clinic had already done and that I should take my pet to Toronto. So apparently they are not a full service animal hospital. Nor comprehensive. I just wish they were clear about that upfront. That being said their advice was good and my pet ended up getting the care he needed elsewhere.

So just be careful, this is a smaller facility and not a full service animal hospital as their website claims.
