Recently paid the Upper James Volvo a visit with specific criteria I wanted in a vehicle. Within 48 hours I had purchased exactly what I was looking for.

Really, really poor customer service. I waited longer than a day to hear back from their manager, Alex, about a faulty part in my XC90 that Volvo manufactured (Volvo admitted that they’re at fault, and have a technical journal regarding the part) which is a fuel filler pipe that is leaking fuel vapours into the atmosphere. They want me to replace their faulty part at my cost ($900). Ridiculous. I even opened a case with Volvo Canada who just echoed what Hamilton Volvo said. “We wouldn’t cover this even under warranty. ” Fair warning to anyone considering buying a Volvo — don’t do it, eventually you’ll discover that they nickel and dime you on their defective engineering, and don’t understand customer service. I waited, like I said, longer than a day to hear back from Hamilton Volvo. My car sat it their lot waiting for their manager to make a decision. Apparently their service agent was “new” but still charged me $160 for their preposterous service to just read a code from the ECU, which was the last straw. Volvo is a joke of a company that treats their loyal customers like street trash. I learned to drive on a four-on-the-floor 1983 Volvo 240DL. Owned a few since then, and this XC90 will be the last, and my new mission in life is to bring the message of just how bad your customer service is to anyone considering buying your poorly engineered vehicles.

I Bought S90 on November. Adam the sells man and his manager was really helpful. Small dealership but warm custom service.

He patiently wrote up all the scenarios for purchase and lease and was most accommodating to my schedule I got the very car I wanted within a few weeks and I got a great trade in on my 9 year old Fiat. Bought 2019 cpo for reliable car. Since my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. They told me how Volvo is strict policy on cpo cars. Long story short needs 1000$ in repairs after 8 months.

Edit: booked a warranty repair and was going to talk to them at the dealership to try and sort this out. Was told they will not service my car until I delete this review needless to say I had some choice words for them.

Edit- you wouldn’t even fix the warranty issue? I was literally told do not bring my car back there because of the review. It was a huge burden I had to drive all the way out of the city to have to warranty repaired as it was dangerous to drive. Me pleading for you to fix a hood latch that I waited 4 days for you to deny me. It was dangerous as I could not put window washer fluid in my car. Me pleading that I have to drive my children in a car that’s unsafe that I’m spending 50k at your dealership. And you have the nerve to say I’m using my daughters cancer as leverage when I begged your service to fix my cars hood latch. Which was covered under warranty bc I had it serviced at another dealership no problem.

Honestly I thought you could not go any lower quite disgusting as you lie and change your reviews. Not once has anyone called me but please continue on how I’m using my daughters cancer for you to fix a warranty repair?

Paid sticker price plus admin fee plus bought extended warranty plus I put 5k down- tell me where I was using leverage? Disgusting treatment from yous. Did I want a deal on breaks ya I tried to talk to yous and you said that’s what I get for buying used. N then offered me a joke “discount” to remove the review. I called and made a warranty appointment for my hood latch figure we could work something out. You denied my warranty for the hood latch has nothing to do about breaks or my daughter. Me asking for a rental if you take my car because I have to take my family to appointments is my life.

I had the pleasure of dealing with a sales person from Hamilton Volvo named Haythen. He had listened to my wants that i was looking for and he was able to match me up with a vehicle which i ended up buying. On my next purchase i wouldn’t hesitate to have Haythen look after my purchase. Job well done young fella.

Sales good, after care Nil. I had a seamless vehicle purchase. I called Hamilton Volvo with my wishlist for a new XC60. They quickly found inventory to suit my requests and Brandon worked to have me in my new vehicle in a short time. After having my vehicle for only 2 weeks my windshield cracked. There was no object that struck it and I had noticed issues with the windshield prior so decided to call Hamilton Volvo hoping they would investigate the cause. I imagine sales is all they care about and not maintaining customer loyalty. They were uninterested and unsympathetic and told me to deal with a Collison centre. I contacted my local Newmarket Volvo who were lovely despite me not buying my car there they treated me like family and helped me get my windshield fixed.

Matt has been exceptionally helpful in guiding thru my purchase process of new Volvo at Volvo Hamilton. He has wealth of knowledge for vehicles and understands client requirements and advises accordingly. He is very polite, considerate and prompt with requests/questions. I would highly recommend Matt be given a chance for your next vehicle purchase.

Was recently driving down the highway when we received an message that directed us to take our Volvo to the dealership "urgently". We did not purchase our car here, but went because it was the closest dealer. We were met by Ben, who handled our situation in a professional manner, quickly getting the car attended to, explaining everything along the way. I never expected to be at his dealership, but certainly was grateful for their diligence and efforts to get us back on our way in an expedient fashion. Bravo!

Our Sales Consultant, Matt was fantastic. He took the time to answer alllllll of our questions, walk us through our options, and was just a joy to be around. Brandon and the rest of the team were also great, they made entire experience really simple and enjoyable.

I hope if there is less than one star to give these people, their sales guys are so rude specially the guy called Tyler, his behaviour is not polite with customers. The sales man Tyler asked us if we can offord the price of the car inorder to do the drive test as he considered this as a waste of his time, hah silly thing. I was intented to lease from them but after this situation I will never come back to that place.

Try to get service done. No call back. Called 4x and 2 weeks later, nothing but name and number and no replies. When i did talk to a woman who wouldn't give me her name, after hours 6pm ish. I called to ask why i am not receiving any call backs. Her reply, not even an apology, They are too busy and we are short staffed and i don't know what else to tell you. I asked if i should take it to Burlington or St catharines then? She was however quick to correct me and say its in Oakville. I have been getting service in hamilton for 15 years. Nice job. My end of year XC60 to XC90 upgrade will be purchased somewhere else. All i wanted was my 2017 v60 polestar tuned up and upgraded.

Absolutely the worst experiences I have ever dealt without of all the dealership. I ended up purchasing from out of town after being so dissatisfied with their customer service.

If you can think of dishonest used-car sales, this is the place to goto. The only reason they have positive stars is because they incentivize and harass customer to post positively.

Also if you ever email them for a quote, GUARANTEED they will spam you non stop, even though you have unsubscribed! Dishonesty is a part of the company's policy so its no surprise they won't honour the can-spam regulations. But that's a small thing.

Also these guys promised free maintenance when I leased the vehicle verbally, only to find out they didn't include that in the contract.

One word for this group. DISHONEST.

To preface; I am not too familiar with the Volvo brand nor am I currently in the market for a vehicle. I currently own an older wagon from a different brand and notice that the wagon market is dying down. This is where Volvo peaked my interest as they offer the beautiful V60!

I visited the dealership with the single intention of sitting in the V60 to test the comfort and out of respect for the Product Advisors; not take up their time.

I was kindly greeted by Matt Zacharczuk. I was upfront about my lack of commitment at this time as I won't be in the market for a few years. After my interaction with Matt, I wish I was in the market immediately. He could have sold me the car that day if I was in the market, and this is without knowing much about the brand prior to my visit. He made that great of an impact based on our interaction.

Matt listened to my needs and what I find important in a vehicle. Not only did I learn about the amazing safety standards associated with Volvo, such as their rollover crash test, but I learned about every comfort feature. This includes areas of the vehicle I didn't know I would appreciate before! The attention to detail of the brand and the high standard for quality was experienced as soon as I closed the driver's door. I was fortunate to view most of the models and spent the most time in the XC60 T8 Polestar. There was not a single negative I could think of for that specific vehicle. It is perfect!

Matt's knowledge, charisma, and overall attention to detail has truly converted me to a Volvo owner, in the future. I have no doubts that Volvo will be my next car, and that Hamilton Volvo will be my dealer of choice.

I bought my XC 40 from Hamilton Volvo. That was after considering several other compact SUV"s. XC 40 out performed almost all other sub compact SUV in price, style and safety. I am totally satisfied with purchase and the experience at the dealership. Joshua Trutet is an outstanding sale person, he is friendly, appeared honest (very rare quality among car sale persons) and very helpful. He was one of the factors that I chose Hamilton Volvo.

Based on principal we will purchase our next Volvo at a different dealership. The Manager from the Parts Department is inflexible, rude and offers poor customer service. Never good to chase away business.

Certain car platforms are provided with software updates as part of the regular maintenance service. It should be noted to the customer right away that software updates are not available/not done on weekends. When booking an appointment the dealership representative knows which car it is and should provide this information. Some software updates fix issues and not providing them is not a complete service but the cost stays the same.

We are a Volvo family. I’ve got your S60, wife has the XC60 and the in-laws have the XC90. All were purchased at Hamilton Volvo.
We couldn’t be happier. The service department especially has been incredible. They know us by name and we ALWAYS get extra care in how we are treated.
