Hannah's Cafe and Bakery

Very cute cafe and it was BUSY. I came in Saturday to grab a quick latte and wow seemed like half of Toronto was in there. The coffee was really good. Unfortunately there was no gluten free snacks so I can’t comment on the food however it did look super yummy.

Wonderful little coffee shop and bakery just outside of high park! The food was great, the coffee was great, the restaurant was clean with plenty of seating and the service was as friendly as could be! Highly recommended!

The banana pudding is the best. If you want to take something to eat in High Park it's you have to try it.

Mate Latte is so delicious … and breads + sandwiches amazing. Super friendly service, a good stop in front High Park. Enjoyable summer patio outside.

Sandwich was as expected, service took long, to be fair it was busy. However, 3 stars for not even acknowledging our thank you when we left.

I’m not one to leave low reviews, but I was disappointed with my visit today. The woman at the counter who made my drink wasn’t very friendly and honestly looked like she didn’t want to be there. I ordered a matcha latte, and I don’t mind paying almost $7 for it, but I just expected more. There was no micro foam, barely any matcha, and I don’t know why the whisk wasn’t used… it resulted in a foamless, milky and chunky matcha drink. There’s a lot of potential in this place. Their food, pastries and coffee is very good, and there’s a few younger employees who are so friendly so I’ll be returning, just hope for a better experience next time!

Pros: Interiors are beautiful, nice place to sit and chat.
Cons: Was looking forward to have hot drinks on a cold day, but instead me and my friends received not-warmed enough teas with milk. It was even cold at the bottom of the cup. Wary of coming back to this cafe at least during winter time.

Excellent service, the high park is one of the most significant areas in Toronto, many places here for dinner.

Things that would make this place better:
- Napkins on the counter
- Extended Coffee pick up counter (so there isnt a cluttered mess)
- Bins on the table near the front door for people to put their plates/ mugs
- Water stations
- Faster service. And servers that remember regulars orders.
- When food is ready, dont yell out name at front counter. Bring it to the guest.
- Faster POS interaction. Takes about 60 seconds to order a coffee when it should take like 10.
- More lids stocked at the coffee pickup counter.
- Wifi

Food is great but some of the employees there have no customer service skills. Apparently asking for ketchup is a big deal!

I had to come back an update my review.it’s a cute shop and all but the baristas are so incredibly slow at their job it’s actually insulting. You’ll wait at least 20 minutes for a coffee, and if you’ve been to (or worked in) literally any other coffee shop.you should know there is never a reason for a cup of coffee to take this long. The workers are moving at a glacial pace, they simply do not care.

I’ve been going to this cafe for a while, and I think I’ve had enough. Staff is friendly and it’s a nice space, but a small London fog was over $6. It’s just a tea bag and steamed milk. The price gouging is insane and the wait time for food is very long. Probably won’t go back again.

Their $15 dollar salad is literally the same spring mix from No Frills for $3, the only difference being that I can make 3 salads like that with the No Frills spring mix salad package which makes this place overpriced by 15 times.
I asked for the Breakfast Biscuit which used to be their signature dish and they answered, we don't prepare that here and our supplier just stopped making it for us, they just deliver other bakery products now. I asked "Oh how come, is there something more complicated about the biscuit than the rest? " And the server answers "No. " And walks away.
Also their Chai latte is below average.
Definitely not coming back.

I absolutely love Hannah’s cafe at high park, the service is always welcoming, coffee and food is delicious! Some of my favourites are the scones, morning glory muffin, the wraps are delicious and the spiced mixed nuts Yumm!

Love the space. Open. Good music or just my good timing. Had a nice matcha latte, oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and a sourdough breakfast sandwich. Pleasant service. All good. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Coffee was good, however the staff were very rude and made my visit unpleasant. I went inside while my partner and dog waited outside the doors to the cafe - they told me my dog had to be further from the doors while waiting outside which seemed odd to me but I went out and told my partner to move without complaint. The staff then began openly talking poorly about me/my dog while making someone else’s order in the kitchen and, even with the music, I could hear them as they were speaking loudly. I didn’t say anything about being able to hear them because I was so uncomfortable so I just got my drinks and left. They were so immediately negative which confused me because I made no attempt to bring an animal inside or break any rules, it seemed like the staff just wanted something to be angry about.

What an awful place. I came with my three little kids, all well behaved. The three staff were all so rude to me. They rolled their eyes, said they were so busy so couldn’t give me a bagel with butter and avocado (they had it on their menu) and instead would charge me $10 for a fancy bagel and just leave everything out? Then finally I showed them it was on their menu and they agreed to give me it. Then the chef came out of the back and rolled her eyes at my stroller and told me to move so she could could get out. Also no high chairs but a change table in the washroom. Never ever coming back here and you should not either. How I welcoming and rude.

Coffee, food is good. Not great, good. BUT - Every time we come to this place, they screw up something EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's very annoying. They kinda of monopolized the area, there is no other coffee shop within walking distance. So we do come for coffee and quick snack. Like today - they did not have machine working, cash only. Why did I find out after 10 min standing in the line in the morning before going to work? Why no sign? It's just poorly run place. Makes you wonder - how do they clean, handle food? The way they serve it?
Examples of areas to improve asap:
- wrong muffin
- extremely slow service
- wrong sandwich
- asking 5 questions to clarify that we really want just black coffee with 2 milks
- staff is disengaged and can't comprehend customer's orders (it seems like everyone working there is like that, we've dealt with several staff there)

Pro: cute interior, convenient location.

I was in a long queue on a sunny Saturday during the cherry blossoms. Their menus are all on the 3 black chalk boards behind the cashier/bar. It was very hard to read and decide what to get while in the line.

The avo & egg white toast is very good. It has nice toasty sourdough slices, melted cheese and mushrooms. My boyfriend had the popular breakfast biscuit. The biscuit is more on the dry side which he's not a fan of. I wouldn't say it a 5-star place but it'll be a nice stop to grab coffee/food if you plan to visit High Park.

One of the best vanilla lattes I've had and restaurant is located within walking distance from High Park. Sandwiches were decent and reasonably priced. I would recommend checking them out if you are ever in the area.

My good friend Stefanie Elizabeth told to meet me at Hannahʼs Cafe in front of famous High Park. After the two years of hiatus due to pandemic, I discovered the healthier alternative cafe which is very healthy food and the macha green tea with latte. I am tired of going to fastfoods at the malls, so please try this great restaurant for the diabetics like me.

To the owner and staff of this great cafe, I will return with my good friend and treat her in different occasions. Thank you and God bless you all. All for the glory of God!

The grilles cheese mushroom sandwich was food but the other samdwich i forgot the name. The bread was really hard so it was hard to bite. It took a good 15 mins for the sandwiches to be ready. When the cashiee said it will only take 5 mins. Also i wished the staff inside the kitchen wore their masks as they are making our food.

I used to love going to this bakery but after today’s visit I don’t think I will ever bring money to them again:/

I understand it’s Sunday afternoon and you are busy but to refuse NOT TO ADD certain ingredient to my wrap because I’m allergic to it and explain it like “We are very busy, we don’t do any modifications” is not okay.

Since Nicky's closed down the road I've been going here. They've got really good coffee and decent baked goods. Not super friendly but I'm just looking for coffee and a bite to eat.

Love this spot. I take my mother here all the time, it's become a staple in our catch up walks.

If you grab the BLT or the spicy sausage wrap you're in for a treat! The staff is great, and the owner is always super welcoming.

I ordered frappe and it was not that good, she charged me $7 but i would prefer starbucks for same thing which is lesser in price

Generally nice place, but there are no ceramic mugs offered when you stay at patio, besides the fact that singe use coffee cups contribute to landfills increasing, the coffee tastes much worse in the paper cup than in the usual mug.
And even after dining inside has been allowed you can sit there only at the patio and there are few tables.
I had a cappuccino and a zucchini chocolate chips muffins and they were good.

Coffee is good but if you want to eat something be prepared to wait.and wait.and wait. Who knew it took so long to make a sandwich?

Ordered a bagel and a warm beet salad. There were 2 people ahead of me. The food took far too long to come out. I'd estimate 25 minutes. Another lady who ordered a bagel after me cancelled her order because it was taking too long.
Finally got my food and the bagel was stale, salad was decent.

Always stop here every time i go to high park, pretty good coffee but the breakfast food is amazing.the chicken soup they have in the winter is perfect.the pies need work, they're pretty hollow.

Beautiful patio and great location. Hannah’s is a true hidden gem. If you’ve never been I highly recommend trying the mushroom grilled cheese!

A little hidden cafe I stumbled upon. They have to die for mushroom grilled cheese and salad. The Nanaimo bars are pretty good too. My favourite has to be their standard light roast drip coffee. All staff has been friendly, chatty, and engaging. It moves quite slow, but there is usually a fair amount of people wanting to go there but that is expected. Decor is great too. They have these fascinating pictures of old Toronto underlaid by newer pictures of those areas.

My favourite High Park coffee and lunch spot! Delicious pasties, wonderful coffee, yummy wraps, and a liquor license for the hot summer days!

A great cafe with a large patio to the side. Currently open inside for takeout and a maximum 5 people each time. Their apple cider is delicious!

I have been customer for over five years. I always feel the staff is welcoming especially during this pandemic, always making sure to ask how im doing. I like how the owner comes out to say hi and gives me a new treat to try that she happened to be baking - not because to sell me stuff but to be nice and share and thats what hannahs is to me, a community.they have gone above and beyond to ensure the place is kept clean and are always santizing every surface while maintaing amazing customer service.under such terrible circumstances of government restrictions and stress placed dealing with rude customers (which I have witnessed people threatening them on more than one occassion), they take abusive comments from people and continue to serve delicious treats and coffee. Keep up the amazing work!

Perfect little hideout, opposite High Park. Love the nature treats, made of various seeds, rolled into a crunchy ball, with a macchiato.

The food and service at Hannah's Cafe and Bakery are consistently great, as is the price, quality ratio. The coffee is well made and always to my taste. I love the delicious baked goods and sandwiches, especially the wraps which are made to order. Nice addition to the neighbourhood, keep up the great job!

Poor ventilation. Place has no kitchen exhaust fan. Been over there a few times. Every time my cloth would stink with smell of food.

Arrived here around 4: 30 on a Friday afternoon. The Cafe did not close until 7pm, but I was quite surprised to see the food display completely empty save for a few sad baked goods. Had there been some appetizing treats on available, I may have been inclined to purchase one. I ordered an apple cider; no complaints about the quality of the drink. If I order it again, I may ask them to make it less sweet (just a personal preference). The barista was fine but not overtly friendly/pleasant - it just felt like a transaction. Overall an okay experience but I didn't feel like this cafe was outstanding or memorable in any way.

Café itself nice. Cappuccino ok. Lemon coconut square not great. Didn't see a high chair for babies, babies also not welcome on furniture. Also server took my plate before I was done but it was fine because my lemon square wasn't very good.

Chicken club was very good. Very good quality and right amount of food for the price. Coffee and chai latte was also very good. Would definitely go again! Was perfect after a long walk in High Park.

Live close by so I stop in sometimes after work or on the weekends. The food is always fresh and delightful. The mixture of wonderfully joyous staff in addition to the subtle music and calming decor; I’d say this place is a little piece of heaven on Earth.
& can’t forget about the coffee which is A+ (Especially the Americano’s)

I live in the building and go to Hannah's out of sheer convenience, but I wish I could say it was because I liked it. We've been really disappointed with this place for a number of reasons. I'm hoping my review serves as a piece of constructive criticism for the owners because I'd love to love this place and am genuinely hoping it improves. The potential is there.

Let's start with the staff. Staff is terribly unapproachable, unhelpful, and very short with customers. If I go there for a coffee, would it kill you to smile? Despite being in the service industry, a smile goes a REALLY long way! You guys might be a customer's very first point of contact in the morning. Don't you want to leave them with a lasting impression? Something to get them going in the morning? "Thanks for stopping by! " "Have a great day! " It's not rocket science. You'd be surprised how many people recognize these little things. The young woman who's seemingly always at cash looks like she hates her life. The energy at this cafe is not welcoming and I know i'm not the only one who thinks this way. It's decorated so beautifully but it lacks vivacity. You're right across from the ever-beautiful High Park and have the potential to draw large crowds. What a shame.

While the food is usually good and fresh, the dishes are always inconsistent in size and ingredients, which is unsettling considering the cost (I find it overpriced for what you're getting). The baked goods are quite good, but the drinks are very run-of-the-mill. Nothing fancy there. Perhaps creating a signature drink or seasonal drinks would enhance your menu offerings. Look at what your competitors are doing and see how you can measure up. What are you offering that no one else is? Right now, it's nothing but dreadful, slow service and a mediocre cup of Joe.

The hours are a little stingy. Closing at 7: 00 pm is a little early for the 9-5 crowd. Folks might enjoy grabbing a warm drink on a weekday evening once in a while, but in the two-ish years Hannah's has been there, I've yet to see it open when I get home. Total bummer and a little confusing since they have an LLBO. Wouldn't people rather have a glass of wine closer to 9pm after they have dinner? Just a thought.

The biggest issue I have is the WIFI situation. It's absolutely terrible. Terrible is an understatement. It feels like this place is stuck in 2005. When I work from home, I'd love to be able to sit in a cafe close to home.and living just upstairs, this place is ideal. Unfortunately, Hannah's WIFI is limited to 10 users at a time. What a joke. This is a no-brainer, guys. Invest in a better internet plan because this a non-negotiable. It's almost 2020. This alone puts you in the bottom of the barrel for me. I'd rather sit among junkies at the Bloor and Keele Tim's if it means I can have a solid connection and get my work done. There's no good enough excuse to offer as an explanation. If retail stores, office lobbies, subway stations, planes, bathrooms, and all restaurants (including fast-food) have WIFI, you should too.

I wish Hannah's stepped up its game and took itself a little more seriously. There's nothing SO good here that anyone would want to keep coming back, other than its location being convenient. All i'm saying is there is so much potential to be one of the best spots in High Park, but nothing is really being done to propel the cafe towards that position.and people can kind of tell. I have taken time out of my day to write to you on here because I genuinely wish you guys success and hope for some improvements in the future. I fear you won't last past the five-year mark.

Need to get better WiFi. Spent $7 just for WiFi not to work? You’re a cafe, your WiFi should be your highest priority.

The coffee is good and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Service is ok. The only thing that prevents me from giving a higher rate is that it was quite dirty, the floor was sticky and full with crumbs.

Worst coffee ever. Especially when its busy. As a former barista, I can say that lady barista doesnt clean the pipe properly after every shot, so coffee burns. Milk making skills also 4/10.

This cafe is convienently located within walking distance from both Keele and High Park Stn. The food tastes great, is made fresh, and relatively healthy. I really appreciate that their baked goods isn't loaded with sugar either! My only real complaint is that it could get a bit pricey, but I'm more than willing to pay a bit extra for good food.

Pros:
-Huge windows, so lots of sunlight.
-Low music, so you can work in peace.
-Nobody bothers you after you order your thing.
Cons:
-Internet connection from spotty to useless, so you can't work in there.
-The kitchen is connected to the main area, so in the Winter, when everything is closed, you have to throw your clothes immediately after to the wash - or risk someone telling you that you smell like food.

Great service and always a good cup of coffee from here. My wife loves their London Fog. Conveniently located across from high park too.

The simply presented on the black board "club sandwich" was in fact a really good surprise! Marinated chicken with thick bacon, creamy avocados on multi bread with his side salad. Latte was good too. They don't take credit and there's no electric outlet but still 5 stars.

Really good food, simple food done amazingly. There is no outlets, be sure to come precharged if you plan on working at Hannah's.
